I have read some of the previous, more negative, reviews and I can't say I necessarily disagree with some of the issues others have raised. However, I do think the volunteers and workers here are doing the best they can with what they have got. They are extremely overcrowded and do not have the resources they need. I am sure working here has got to be both heartbreaking and exhausting to some extent. I adopted my dog from this shelter a little over a year ago and we had an amazing experience. The volunteer that helped us was so knowledgeable, made us feel like a priority, and lead us in the right direction with what we were looking for. My sweet boy has absolutely changed my life, I am so thankful for this shelter and how they equipped us to have a successful adoption.

Over 400 dogs there I went there to save a dog from the euth list but since someone else was there for the same dog I asked to foster any dog who is dog friendly after about a hour and only seeing 1 dog I was told they don't have any dogs that was a match for me. I would have took literally any dog regardless of size age gender and to tell me out of 400 dogs none of them are dog friendly/ tested round small dogs for me to take home was very disappointing. They even had small dogs but didn't show me any I saw at least 10 in the back area.

This is so not healthy for the dog!

The people who work there are horrible. The dogs were left in cages full of poop & pee. It was so sad to see them like this especially the puppys!!!! , it is so sad to see things like this ! They need to do a lot of work. The halls ways we're filthy!, I'm so disappointed this is how they work!!

Great place to volunteer your time to help the animals! Or find your new best furry friend!

This is a brand new facility that opened in the summer of 2017 to help hundreds of cats, dogs, and other animals find their new forever home. This facility is filled with dedicated staff, volunteers, and others from the community who are passionate about providing support for the animals who need their care. This place deals with lost animals, unwanted pets, mistreated animals, strays, newly born animals, and more. The staff works extremely hard to handle the overwhelming amount of questions and requests that are placed on them and they do it with a smile, patience, and kindness. If you are interested in adoption, you can walk the halls of the kennels that contain the dogs, cats, and puppies. These animals come from a myriad of backgrounds, so please have some compassion for them as the shelter environment can be very stressful. The adoption counselors, located at the desk towards the front of the building, will work closely with you to go through the adoption process and answer any questions that you might have. There are often promotions for adoptions, so check their website for those if you are interested. Come visit or volunteer your time to help with this important issue of helping these homeless animals find a new home!

I'm grateful they're here and doing their best especially at a time when there's overcrowding at so many shelters.

I had my first foster dog for a few months and she recently got adopted to a wonderful family. I can't tell you how cool it was to help a dog who literally was on death row at a local shelter to get healthy again and then to find a new home. AARF made it a really easy and rewarding experience to volunteer and they help wonderful animals find great homes. There are other rescue groups in Atlanta and they are all doing amazing work. I'm certainly not saying AARF is any better than any other rescue group because I haven't volunteered with any others but I am saying that the people at AARF rock and I really love working with them.

Fostering an animal while it finds a home is one of the best things a person can do. Animals in tiny cages where they don't get room to run and play can get issues that can take years of training and care to treat. But, give a homeless animal a temporary home while you find a permanent one and it can learn from your other pets or just get used to what it is like to have a nice home. I am still training my dog on some basic lessons, but once she's ready to teach others, I plan to foster. Check their web site if you want to foster or need a pet yourself!

To say I was nervous about how the whole process would play out is an understatement. But Angels Among Us were amazing through the entire process. From contacting me quickly, really making sure I understood what was happening, why, and what was needed was so incredibly helpful. They really helped set me up for success. But not only that, they really cared that these babies go to the right homes. I had a good bit of things I had to provide to be able to have my sweet boy. But I would do it all over again in a heart beat. He's so perfect for me and you can tell that only people working in a rescue for this long can tell when an animal is going to fit in the right place. Even right down to the fosters. They were so wonderful, so welcoming. And now it's been seven weeks that I've had my baby. And I couldn't be more happy, or grateful in this moment. Thank you for making this process such a wonderful experience. And most importantly for everything every single one of you in this organization does.

After a quick search on Google we found Our Pal's and decided to bring the lost dog here to see if we can find his owner. We talked to Gigi the owner who was so nice and helpful. She gave us the name of a vet down the street (Shallowford Animal Hospital) who could check to see if he is chipped.
