I went to try tamales on a recent Sat. morning only to be told they usually sell out by 9am! If you're that popular, you should be prepared for the Dec. rush. However, the conchas i did get to try were outstanding and very fresh tasting. Didn't care for the elotes that tasted like sugared lard instead of cinnamon and sweet pan! read more

Found this place due to work! Love finding gems like this by chance! (: I stopped by after work and there was a line out the door already! Crazy! That's when you know it's good! Authentic! I got 12 small conchas and 1 bolillo fresco (I think). The latter one, I pointed to the left side cause I had no idea what it's called LOOL. I need a person who speaks Spanish to help me buy these baked goodies haha. The lady was nice though and despite the language barrier, I was still able to buy the wonderful breads! (: They were a huge hit with my loved ones. Would definitely come back soon!! (no pics) read more

Really fresh. Concha had a crisp top and soft bottom part. Bolillo relleno was fresh baked. This is a popular place for a reason. They had a guayaba con queso that was also bomb. The workers are very friendly and helpful. They serve your bread from behind a counter . read more

The sweet bread is always good but the best was the bolillo. Not sure what happened but the quality of the bolillo is no longer the same... Maybe a new baker? The bolillo is hard and airy, what we call "bofo"... It use to be soft and dense... perfect for a torta. Please bring back the old bolillo! The staff is always friendly...busy place. read more

Found this bakery from yelp so I rushed yesterday morning so I can grab some breakfast bread and tamales for my coworkers. There was a short line, but there was a line; ordered some bread with some stuffing inside and the three flavors of tamales that they have, brought to work , Tried it myself and it was amazing. This place is truly amazing. It is a small or maybe even a family owned Bakery but everything I bought yesterday is so delicious. I will come back to this place for sure, especially that it was only less than 10 minutes away from where I live. They open at five in the morning so it is perfect for me whenever I wanna bring something for my coworkers. All my coworkers love the bread and the tamales. read more

Every single time I come here I'm always extremely satisfied. They never miss whatever you're getting here is always going to be so freaking delicious. The prices are great in my opinion also . Customer service is impeccable. They have so many people always coming inside this establishment and they make sure that they help everyone & you're serviced quickly. So go grab yourself a turkey torta and enjoy! Also to the taller woman with the lipstick on that matches her hair and with a big bright smile you are always so nice when I come in. This place is cozy but popular--there were actually two lines when I visited, one just for bolillos! I picked up some pan dulce (conchas, niño envuelto, polvorones), and everything was absolutely delicious. It's a bit on the pricey side, so I probably won't come here all the time, but it's perfect for a special treat. read more

The BEST Pan Dulce I've ever had. It's so flavorful and soft. Our family absolutely loves this Bakery. I'm usually not a concha fan because they're usually hard. Lalos bakery makes the best conchas, they're so flavorful and soft. They don't get hard and dry. We come here once a week. The customer service is amazing. read more

The breads here was soft and flavorful. Quick service. Sandwiches/tortas are made to order. We got conchas ans elotes which were so yummy! The prices are a little high but this could be the beginning of changes regarding inflation. The shop is small so you have to wait outside until it's your turn, but it's worth it. Can hardly wait to go back. read more

Great variety of bread, no matter what time you go! There may be a line in the morning sometimes, but it moves quick. Everyone is always super friendly and they know the regulars by name. They have regular concha's and mini concha's. They have plain bolillos and they have some that are filled with cream cheese & jalapeño (my favorite), potato & chorizo, and I believe bean & cheese. I bought tamales to take to work and everyone loved them. They kept asking where I bought them. Definitely the best panadería in town! read more

This place rocks!!!!! I've been coming here for at least 20 some years and I know lalos hasn't been here that long. It used to be another bakery, but Lalos doesn't disappoint ! They make a magical cafe de olla! So so so good!! And their concha's are to die for, my wife gets the bolillo with chorizo and papas and that's amazing as well. The lady and the guy that works there are always so pleasant and sweet, we don't speak Spanish so I kinda just point at which pan dulce I want and they don't ever get upset with me like some other places I've been to. I hope they have much success here for many many years to come!! YAY!!! read more

I purchased pork tamales 12/06, and maybe I shouldn't have mid-week the masa wasn't fresh. It would crumble each time I took a piece. The sauce, man-o-man, is it spicy! It's too spicy for me. I would rather add tapatio if I wanted to. I'm in search of the best local tamale! read more

Lalo's bakery is exceptionally delicious. Their pan dulce is soft and spongy. The filled bolios are better than most bakeries. I was a big fan of El Gallo in ELA but in my opinion, over the years it has lost its appeal. Best to arrive early to indulge in the fresh pan dulce. read more

My sister was very particular of how she wanted her birthday cake. She specified that she wanted a carrot cake with cream-cheese frosting, heart-shaped, baby-blue in color with sparkles, and have black bows. The bakery doesn't make any non-edible add-ons so I had to provide the black bows, and it turned out absolutely beautiful that we didn't want to eat it! Carrot cake was delicious, we all enjoyed it. The cupcakes looked absolutely delicious, and more importantly, the ICU staff genuinely appreciated the gesture. They've stayed consistently delicious and the quality has never wavered. My oldest daughter is my peanut butter lover so her go to birthday treat used to be their chocolate peanut butter cupcakes and even though she still loves them the zucchini cupcakes have surpassed them. I think the zucchini cupcakes have a brown butter frosting that is this cupcake's perfect partner. It really seems to be a family run business. There are two young men who might be one of the owner's sons and they are both friendly and kind. Like their mother. Multiple cupcake and other types of cake places have cropped up in the vicinity over the years but my heartfelt opinion is that Sugar from the Heart is still the best.

It was super weird and frustrating. Anyways, taste wise- the alcohol infused cupcakes don't really have a flavor of alcohol and the batter kind of tastes like the box mix. Super strange experience for mid to below mid tasting cupcakes.

That was frustrating. My husband also ordered a T-bone steak but was served a sirloin instead. As for my meal, I ordered the special omelet, and it was nothing special. It lacked flavor, and the cheese didn't complement the dish. The home-style potatoes were simply sliced potatoes that were overly greasy and dripping with oil. Overall, it was a very disappointing dining experience. I hope the restaurant pays closer attention to order accuracy, food quality, and the details that make for good customer service. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I don't plan on returning.

I had difficulty finding an Oaxacan bakery in Whittier, and I am glad that I found Cinco de Mayo. They also offer tamales, champurrado, and freshly made tortillas. I would definitely recommend trying them if you like Mexican bread. Look past the chain bakeries and give a small bakery a chance!
