Got this truffle carbonara it's amazing. It's a seasonal special. You can smell the truffle aroma instantly when it comes I love how crispy the bacon is I could eat 1 million of it overall would highly recommend it so creamy gooey without the truffle being so overwhelming the vibe is so cute inside it's a good date spot. And service was so fast.

We were in the area and were looking for a good casual place to eat and stumbled upon Boschetto. This super modern and clean Italian restaurant located on Grove street offers a counter service. When you enter you place your order, take a number and pick where you'd like to sit. They do offer high chairs and have a kids pasta menu (you just have to ask). We ordered the arugula salad, zucchini chips, calamari platter, a pasta and pizza to try. The arugula salad was great, it was zesty and fresh. The zucchini chips (zucchine frite) was my absolute favorite of the meal. The chips were so delicious and I hate zucchini. The sauce resembles a hummus but it was zesty and sour. The calamari platter had calamari, shrimp, and zucchini with a marinera sauce. I think it just needed to be a little saltier and it would have been perfect because the crispiness was there. The amatriciana pasta was also good, the server recommended it. It was a little spicy and very flavorful. We tried the summer special pizza, I forget the name but it has peach and prosciutto topped with arugula and hot honey. It was very refreshing, a bit of sweetness and spice. They make the bread in house and it was perfectly made. No complaints at all. There is a free parking lot right next to the restaurant. The bathroom is spotless too! Very well maintained and the waiters are very sweet.

Boschetto has been one of my favorite restaurants in Montclair ever since it opened. I have visited more than a handful of times for lunch and I'm always excited to try something new while always going back to my favorites. I highly recommend Boschetto for anyone who is thinking about visiting. I will also continue to return time after time.

I found a gem in Montclair! Boschetto is an Italian restaurant with a clean and contemporary interior, a large outdoor patio, and excellent service. The idea of Fine Fast Casual appealed to owners Ryan Held, 44, and Robert Spina, 46, when they opened Boschetto back in August of 2023. After placing your order at the front counter, you'll be given a number that you'll place on your table. In a few minutes, you'll be visited by their service staff with your order. The staff was exemplary, always smiling, and quickly accommodated every request we had. I ordered a "Mexican Coke" and it was VERY GOOD! It is sweetened with cane sugar instead of the high-fructose corn syrup. I even let a bee have a taste and he loved it. We started with the Arugula & Cheese Salad. This was large enough to share, the mixture of ingredients were perfect, and is highly recommended. We shared two Boschetto pies (tomato, mozzarella, and basil). This pie was EXCEPTIONAL. I enjoyed every bite and it was created to perfection. I highly recommend Boschetto and am certain that they will have a successful business.

Cute spot with great menu options including freshly made pasta! I enjoyed my bucatini, super flavorful and the smoky guanciale was the perfect complement. I'd love to come again and try their other pastas and pizzas too. The fast casual service makes the dining experience more convenient, making it a perfect spot for lunch or a more casual dinner. There's a parking lot available but it does fill up quick as there's other tenants in the building. But there's easy, free street parking available nearby!

Quick, fresh, and flavorful with no compromises made on execution. We stopped by for an early dinner. Order at the register and plop your number on your table. The place is BYOB and has some other non alcoholic beverage options to choose from. Small-ish space mix of small two seater booth area and some four tops; with outdoor patio for a nice day. Menu is clear, and a good balance of options for each category. 5/5 Vitello Tonato: We opted for the veal which I didn't realize was more of a carpaccio style- DELISH loved all the different texture elements and the flavor profile was well balanced. Simple and delightful. I'm always a fan of a dish where everything has a purpose- not just aesthetics. 5/5 Amatriciana: pasta we ordered the bucatini, el dente perfection with not too much sauce and a little kick of chili. Comfort bowl of goodness. 3/5 Funghi pie, I took away stars more from a personal preference I actually prefer a white pie for this and it had a little sauce that didn't do it for me and micro greens that had amazing freshness but it overpowered it just a tad- again for me personally. Dough was perfection and mushrooms were YUM and plentiful. I would definitely try another option next time. Service was friendly, quick and dishes were piping hot! Fresh ingredients and just felt like Italian comfort in a bowl. Small parking lot for the plaza which hosts other stores along with street parking.

Come for Sunday brunch. Asking for table for 6, waitress tells us to order in advance. Alright! we order close to $150 when we pay the POS ask for tipping without any serving. For the courtesy we give 20% & expected a good service in return. However the service was horrendous, they place us a table near entrance across the kitchen and multiple customers walked by, we request change of table & they are unwilling. We asked for wine glasses multiple times & service bear none. The saving grace, the food is decent but unable to tolerate a poor service. Now I understand why they ask people to pay tips in advance because they don't deserve any. We shouldn't pay any tip when people eat at food court.

Quick and easy ordering experience. My husband and I tried the meatballs and Boschetto Pizza. The space was small but inviting and comfortable. It was pretty busy on Saturday but we were able to find a table. The meatballs were delicious. Pizza was good. Would definitely return to try more items!

Food was mediocre, pasta was cold & flavorless! Waste of time & MONEY. I asked for the first picture I wanted that chicken with the cheese on top, but instead I got those red tasteless chicken that I ate because I was already $45 dollars in. Total of my dinner with my family ? $150 including tip . Save yall money not worth it at all

Rlly good fast casual Italian food. Delicious mussels and big portion of them too. Ribeye steak was extremely tender. I enjoyed the sardines on the salad, was lemony. 5/5 highly recommend this spot

New Italian restaurant in Montclair! They've only been open for 6 months so everything looks pretty new. It's a more casual place because they take your order and you pay ahead in the front before seating yourself in the back. The noodle dishes were really good and well seasoned! Tasted very authentic and fresh. I hadn't tasted pasta like that in a very long time. We were told that the pasta noodles were imported from Italy! They are located next to an Italian market so that makes them even more legit! Would come back to try other dishes.

We tried this spot for takeout on a weekend night. We ordered via slice and got there about 5 mins after the order was scheduled to be ready. The food was ready but unfortunately the pizza was cold by the time we got it home. The pizza was meh, nothing too special. We also tried the Gnocco Fritto ($9) which were large pieces of fried bread. Delicious but a small portion for the price. We also tried the meatballs ($16) and the vongole pasta ($21). Both of these dishes were warm, well flavored, and fresh. The vongole was particularly well cooked and had a nice portion of clams. Based on the reviews - I'd stick to eat in.

Great service which may have you concerned when you place your order as you tip prior to being served. Nonetheless they did not disappoint. The BYOB which is typical for Montclair is great. You should also try the polenta with shrimp which is to die for.

The restaurant was packed when we arrived, with both indoor and outdoor dining, but they were expecting us for our reservation and seated us right away. The front-of-house staff was warm, friendly and even remembered my husband from when he called to make the reservation. The food was the standout. I ordered the short rib, which arrived with quite the presentation, a huge bone topped with incredibly tender, shaved short rib and mixed vegetables. It was delicious and the portion was enormous. I shared some with my husband at dinner, took the rest home, and we still managed to turn the leftovers into an omelet a couple of days later! My husband ordered the double-thick pork chop and loved it. We also shared the fried shrimp and calamari appetizer, and both the marinara and aioli were excellent. One small area for improvement would be helping the younger waitstaff become a little more comfortable guiding guests through the menu. When we asked for recommendations and what dishes the restaurant was especially known for, it took a little prompting before we got to Parmigiano. Our server was perfectly nice. It just would have elevated the experience to have someone confidently say, "This is what we do exceptionally well, and here's what I recommend." Overall, though, we had exactly the kind of evening we needed. We brought a bottle of wine, relaxed, talked, enjoyed the atmosphere and genuinely felt like we had gotten away for a while. Our bill came in at the $100 range, and we left completely satisfied. Great food, generous portions, a welcoming atmosphere and excellent value. We'll absolutely return.

Decor offers a taste of Italy and adds to the charm. Started with a few apps and a chicken parm for the table to share. The Carciofi alla Giudia, the classic Jewish-Roman deep fried artichokes were beautifully presented. A good bit firmer than you'd find in Rome but were still well enjoyed and recommended. Tonno salad with fresh seared tuna was plentiful and packed with flavor. Speaking of flavor the porchetta sandwich was rich and delicious. Really this is closer to a bbq pork than authentic porchetta but still recommended. The star of the show is the chicken parm and eggplant parm. The eggplant was delicate, thinly sliced melt in your mouth. Luckily you get a huge plate. Chicken parm is also excellent and HUGE. While there is $10 plate fee if sharing a main they are fine if you order several items and share all. Very generous with their shaved Parmesan if requested. Prices on the higher side but not all that bad considering the quantity. This feels more like the type of place you come to with a large group than as a couple. Unless of course you are very hungry. Service is excellent.

From a food perspective, our meal initiated with a basket of some of the best rolls I had ever had. They were large, fluffy, and doughy with a hint of crispiness from a light toasting. We then shared the Veal and Beef Meatball, which was gigantic but still managed to have the ideal texture. It was also beautifully seasoned and served in what the chef called his "grandma's plum tomato sauce", which was divine! The sauce was thick and hearty, so when that was paired with pecorino cheese and basil oil, it really made for a fabulous dish. I even cut off a small piece to put inside my roll with a spoonful of sauce - chef's kiss! After that, we enjoyed some of the house-made pasta dishes, tasting each in a family-style format. The Squid Ink Bucatini was tossed with scallops, shrimp, and jumbo lump crab in a seafood tomato sauce. I did not love the briny finish to the sauce or that some of the scallops were chewy. The Tagliatelle with Duck Bolognese, tomatoes, and carrots was good, but I prefer my pomodoro sauce without the addition of a "light cream". Lastly, the special Spaghetti came with lobster, crab, and peas in vodka sauce. That one was definitely my favorite. While I do not love peas, the sauce was rich and flavorful. Across these last two dishes, I thought the pasta was a tad overcooked and could have been more al dente; the bucatini consistency was more inline with my preferences. Overall, I thought the food at Laboratorio Kitchen was above average, but that the service and atmosphere helped elevate the place. I would definitely consider going back to try some of their other dishes.

The mushroom ravioli tasted a little like mush to me and I was not a fan of the mushroom flavor. The eggplant pasta was delicious and it came with burrata that melted nicely into the pasta. The pictures on-line make it look like a fancy place so we did dress up. When we arrived we quickly realized it's not what they advertise and what's in the pictures as it's actually a small run down dive spot. The biggest attraction must be its BYOB as the line was out the door with people holding 2-3 bottles of wine and beer. We were really hopping for the food to be great! Unfortunately we were disappointed causing the 2 star review on food alone. The quality and freshness was poor and everything was soaked in multiple sauces. We had the Cucumber salad that should have been called the pickle salad as there were more pickles than cucumbers. Also the calamari which is hard to mess up but they somehow did with 3 different sweet sauces on it. Next we had the Ramen which they are known for and it had Fried Chicken in it??? It was frozen store bought chickens they warmed up. The last thing we ordered was the black cod, this could have caused us to get food poisoning!! One bit each and we both had to take a sip of wine quickly to get the taste out of our mouths. We couldn't even take a second bit. They did give us free dessert because everything took so long which was very nice but that was our great server Matthew. Dessert was good! Another side note the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting with pee on the floors and all over the toilet in both bathrooms. We did have a good night because we brought a very nice bottle of wine. Too bad they didn't give you real wine glasses. It was more of a plastic cup. I don't see us ever going back.

The meat had a funny smell ;you know that funky smell you get with old meat? Yeah, there it was. The vegetables were limp and lifeless. The service was the worst of it. We waited forever for a seat only to have the menus tossed at us as that person walked away. When a waiter finally came by, it was very 'what do you want? Stop wasting my time' attitude. Forget about questions. No no no. If you arent a regular than sucks to be you. They Clearly had favorites based on intersctions with a nearby table. When i got my meal and brought uup the fact that I asked for an ingredient to be taken off (note, not substituted, just not on the dish), the server grabs my dish harshly and mutters a racial slur. I was furious but just wanted to get through the meal without further incident. I had already decided i would never come back and I would never recommend thiis place to anyone. It was just so unpleasant, you couldnt pay me to go again. If you dontgett food poisoning from their rancid ingredients, your mood will certainly decay within a matter of minutes by being there. Avoid this place!

I believe they need to hear the truth so they can quickly fix things. I have been in the business so I understand how difficult it can be. The menu is absolutely terrible! There is maybe 5-6 Apps,Almost no salads, and maybe 7 entrees. I went on a Saturday night, the inside was very nice and clean. The best thing on this night was how comfortable I was at the table,we went with like 8 people. Most places in Montclair will squeeze you in on top of people. I thought the Meatball app was horrible, the mussels were ok I just don't like spicy . The Calamari was ok. Like I said they didn't have a choice of a small salad for dinner. Can I at least get a Cesar salad? My entree was the Eggplant,I give it a 2 out of 5 it was pesto infused with marinara,WHY? Also I could not even get a side of pasta with marinara with my dinner ,the only choice was Cavatelli. This is a Italian restaurant and no sides of pasta. Not that it was a issue but our entrees came out at least 30 mins after the apps. They were not even busy. I don't see this place lasting the summer the way they do business. All the great ratings are because of the last owner/chef. Like I said I don't mean to hurt the business,I am truly trying to help. Work needs to be done on the menu! The prices were high while the portions were small.

We dined at Gioia Mia for their Valentine's Day pre-fixe dinner and overall had a lovely experience…read morewith a few highs and a couple misses. The evening started strong with bread that tasted house-made! I even took the leftover back! It was warm, crispy on the outside, soft inside, and perfectly buttery. Such a simple thing, but it set the tone beautifully. For my courses, I had the tuna tartare to start, followed by the spicy rigatoni. The rigatoni wasn't actually spicy, but the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The real surprise of the night was the eggplant parmigiana. It genuinely did not feel like I was eating eggplant. That dish was so well done that my husband who normally avoids eggplant completely devoured my plate. It was such a great substitute for chicken parm and easily one of the highlights of the night. Dessert, unfortunately, is where things fell short. We tried the red velvet pound cake and the mint chip gelato entremet. The chocolate crunch layer on the gelato was extremely hard and honestly it felt like it had come straight from the freezer and hadn't had time to thaw. The mint gelato itself tasted very much like fresh herb mint, which wasn't quite what I was expecting. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. To me, it just leaned more herbal than classic mint chip. Also that pound cake was a bit dry and again hard like it was from the refrigerator. There was live music for Valentine's Day, which was a nice touch in theory, but it felt more like a performance than background ambiance (unless that's what they are trying to go for). The singer was belting songs (for example, Lady Gaga's Shallow - which for the record I love that song!) however when sang tonight we had to raise our voices to talk. Softer, more subtle background music would have made for a more intimate dinner experience. Still an overall good meal, I'd come back for the entrees.
