This was my first trip to this location and compared to the ones closer to Wilmington, DE. This one seems older and a little run down. Big flower pots out front with nothing in them, sticky/smelly menus, and it was sort of dark. Although the ambiance wasn't great, the food and drinks were pretty good. Wow! Del Pez is serving up traditional and new-age Mexican dishes that are packed full of flavor! The food is so delicious, and you always start with a basket of complimentary chips and salsa! The menu is huge, and they offer a full bar and ALSO a private room (Yelp Elite, let's go!). I took my mom for a nice lunch when passing through and the food shined, the skirt steak fajitas were so tender and you received plenty - see pic. The chicken enchiladas were delicious. Disappointed in the last few visits. It was great the first few visits but has slowly gone down. Closes early now, so they no longer do the late night HH menu. They close at 9:30 week nights and 10 weekends. Steak street tacos- salsa is spicy and hides flavor Texas bbq- greasy and tons of bbq but not much flavor. Primo taco- greasy and not much flavor. We tried this restaurant for the first time and well I know prices have gone up everywhere, especially the restaurant business - but paying $9-$10 PER taco is almost criminal. Most taco platters only have 2 tacos and they are about $20. I got a triple taco platter for $26 and yes it comes with rice and beans, but they were bland. The margarita was 70% ice and my specialty short rib taco had bones in it on the first bite - this is unacceptable for that price. Del Pez is a great idea. Unfortunately, in my experience, that is all it is. The inside is trendy and looks very cool, especially for those of you who are under thirty. The menu sounds exciting and wonderful as well, but a good portion of it isn't available until a certain time of day...a small issue, but why not simply separate into a lunch/dinner offering format. I am not simply stating things that I didn't like without any substance and I will justify why I did not enjoy my experience here. It is very rare that I rate something negatively, and I still give the chance to every single place to impress the next time I return, but it will take a very large revamp to get me back through the doors of this local, small chain of Latin fusion restaurants. The first and most glaring problem is that the restaurant is not clean. I do not mean the tableware, plates, or that the food is unsanitary. Quite the contrary; all of that seemed to be quite fine. However, the restaurant itself was not kept to a standard that you would expect to see a high volume, newer, trendy spot to be operating at. The floors were slippery, as in a grease-coated, slimy, slippery that was not only off-putting, but potentially dangerous. The table we were sat at was also clammy and sticky, not great, and the whole place smelled sort of sour, almost like a stale vinegary sort of odor. After that, I will say that our server did do a valiant effort taking care of our table and he was very nice as well as great at making suggestions. As far as service was concerned, the place seems to be well staffed, but it doesn't make up for the seemingly high-priced offerings on the menu. The sushi section looks very unique and inspired but was unavailable when I was there. What we did order was passable, but nothing special, and for what was paid, it felt very underwhelming, and I am not someone who is concerned with portions. I always take the quality over quantity route, but here, that mantra unfortunately simply didn't apply. My wife also swears that she got sick from the nachos she had and did say something wasn't quite right when we were dining. She was not feeling well that night and following two days, but I cannot guarantee the link was the food here, so I will not posit that was indeed the case. Sadly enough what I think Del Pez has is a bunch of hype, a neat, flashy toned down approach to Mexican that masques itself as fusion when it is really just Americanizing its palate. They obviously do a great business as it was recommended to me by several people and there are many good reviews and it is seemingly enjoyed by many. This may have been a bad afternoon, and I don't know the details of what could have been going on behind the scenes here. The small tacos I ordered looked great and the presentation here seems to be in order, but something drastic needs to be done to improve in my opinion. I still recommend you check them out if you are in the area and you like chain-type Friday's-esque restaurants as your experience may be very different than mine, and I would love for it to be enjoyable. read more

I would extend those compliments to the other server, Erin whom I interacted with as well. Hostess (did not catch name, whoever it was around 4:50ish, Tue 6/16/26) was very welcoming. I really enjoyed the warm chips and that cornbread with it. Very fresh. Look forward to returning with company. Would recommend, would return. Also, I went for an early dinner on a Tuesday. This was a favorite spot when it first opened. We celebrated birthdays and holidays here for the past few years. We'd pop in after shopping or just when we craved the wings. Food and service was always consistent and enjoyable. The vibe was fun. Imagine my surprise in how much the quality has gone down this year. I've been 3x and each time the food is getting worse and worse. Last night I had steak tacos that were barely edible. The tortillas tasted stale and oily, the steak was flavorless and unseasoned. It was so bad that I couldn't even finish my meal. This is a dish that I've had several times and always look forward to. I usually take leftovers home and enjoy multiple dishes. Wow!!! I have been in other Del Pez restaurants but this is my new favorite! Some of the same items but a lot were different. We were given a sampler plate for our first time there. They should make this bigger and charge. It was so good. The corn cake was our favorite! Our server was so attentive and the place is lovely and fun! Husband got a salad (lots of great steak!).
