Obviously loved by many loyal customers. The place is small. There is an adjacent area with the sign above it that appears to have been gone unused for quite some time. Service was not great. The rainbow cookies I did get were different from others I have had elsewhere and I could not detect any jelly in between the layers. There was also a chemical like taste-most likely a cheap sugar alcohol. Not to my liking. The other 2 cookies were ok,but nothing I would come for again. Only on street parking. I do not plan to return and would recommend venturing elsewhere. read more

if you believe you should be getting fresh not still frozen cookies then look elsewhere, I was visiting from out of town and really looking forward to pignoli cookies. they were very expensive but I purchased them anyway. when I opened the bag a short while later I saw that they were still frozen. not to mention the place is dumpy and in a sketchy neighborhood. sad, disappointing and a pricey mistake. read more

They really need a better system of ordering and picking up. They write everything down in a big book. For the holidays, you order ahead and STILL have to wait in line to pick up, 2 hours!! Sent someone to pick up cookies and pastries that were ordered last week and they insisted we only ordered cookies. They quoted my husband $204 , and asked If we wanted heavy on the mini cannolis , he remembers the exact conversation. How about investing in a computer system with order numbers and receipts? Submitted an order for a cake about 4 business days in advance. Asked for rum cake with whipped cream icing. I made it a point to confirm with the gentleman who took the order that they would, in fact, frost the cake with whipped cream, and he assured me that all of their rum cakes are. OK, great. I pick up the cake, and at first look and taste, I knew immediately that it was frosted with whipped topping and not whipped cream. Major difference. It had the horrible aftertaste of the hydrogenated vegetable oil garbage that comes from toppings like Cool Whip or Rich's Bettercreme. If I had been told that they use artificial whipped cream and that there would be an upcharge for REAL whipped cream, I would have gladly paid it without issue. But in this case, it's the failure to disclose that closed the book on me ever giving Del Prete another thought, much less another dollar. read more

Let me start by saying NO one makes better Italian pastries then Del Prete's .... NO one!! My husband claims that New Haven is better, so sometimes, I entertain myself by taking the challenge. Our latest challenge was St. Joseph zeppole. When I first took the ones that my husband purchased out of the box, I was impressed. They were bigger then Del Prete's, and looked pretty good. I then cut each into pieces, and had 6 people taste (not knowing which were which). Four people said that the New Haven's Lucibello zeppole were pretty good, 2 of us disliked them . 6/6 said that hands down Del Prete's zeppole were amazing !!!! So, it's not the size that matters.
