We were so very happy with our wedding cake! Not only did it look fantastic, but it tasted great! My partner and I had a cake tasting many months before our wedding and were impressed with the flavors Lovely Cake offers. We didn't expect to select what we selected: lemon cake with passion fruit buttercream. It was a dream! Seriously, I wouldn't have even thought of using these flavors for our cake if not for the tasting. The cake, too, was the perfect density -- baked to perfection! Renata delivered the cake early on wedding day. She was communicative throughout the entire process. We were happy with the service, communication, and delivery! Since we opted for a wedding on the beach (at the Jacky Durrell Pavilion in Fairfield), we wanted an ocean-themed cake. After searching the internet, we found a gorgeous design and asked if Renata could make something similar. What she delivered was breathtaking. One of guests didn't even think it was a real cake! I don't know who handles thee emails here but they could use some sensitivity training. I wrote very early on a Tuesday morning before their rather late opening of 10am to ask if they could accommodate an exception to their 1 week rule for for orders for a simple cupcake order for a celebration of life after family member passed away that sunday. They sent a routing "we don't take orders with less than a week notice." No mention of the circumstances, or even a standard "we are sorry for your loss." It's rude to treat exceptional circumstances the way you would someone planning a normal party who just waiting too long to order. Everything was perfect for my son's first birthday. We ordered a smash cake for my son and a second cake for everyone else. Renata is THE BAKER . Although mine was a last minute request for my sons 4th bday she accepted our request and came to our rescue in distress . All I said was sea creatures cake and I can't believe the amazing cake she made for us . So far in my Experience if the cake looks super pretty it doesn't taste good but Renata burst that myth for me. Cake was very delicious and all the kiddos loved it . We absolutely LOVED our wedding cake from Lovely Cakes! We had a small intimate backyard wedding in August 2020, and about a month before, I contacted Renata about making a cake for us. I looked through pictures of previous cakes on her website, and sent her a picture of one that we loved the look of, with a few adjustments for us. Renata from Lovely Cakes baked our perfect, dream wedding cake. It had 5 tiers and tuxedo flavors, including chocolate fudge frosting and their famous salted caramel buttercream. Renata perfectly matched our wedding colors for a fondant bow, since we didn't want flowers on the cake. She and her team were also amazingly accommodating with some last minute changes and requests. I couldn't be more delighted by my experience with Lovely Cakes in Norwalk, CT. The owner, Renata, did a fabulous job on a tiered birthday cake for me. It was both gorgeous and delicious! Add in that Renata has a calm, easy-going personality, professionalism and devine baking / cake designing expertise and you have the ultimate recipe for a perfect special event cake! Let me tell you a few important details about my experience with Lovely Cakes. I live in Los Angeles and was planning a 90th birthday party / family reunion for my Aunt. The party took place in Stamford, Connecticut where my Aunt and much of her family grew up (although nearly everyone has since moved away). I did 100% of the party planning long distance and choose all my vendors through online reviews / recommendations like Yelp.com. When I talked to Renata I told her that I wanted a cake that would celebrate my Aunt's amazing life. Renata guided me through every step of the process with ease and in the end designed a "biography cake" that had 8 or 9 three dimensional decorative figures on it, each representing something memorable in my Aunt's life (such as her love of white poodles, convertible cars, international travel, her Texas home for 60 years, etc.). It was perfect! My Aunt was thrilled and everyone at the party commented on how well the cake fit who she is. Finally, and most importantly, the cake was absolutely positively delicious! My Aunt does not like super sweet cakes so I left the combination of flavors and fillings to Renata since she is the expert. We had a tuxedo cake - i.e. alternating chocolate and vanilla layers of cake with alternating filling flavors of chocolate ganache and chocolate mousse. The frosting was buttercream and fondant. Everyone at the party raved about how yummy the cake was but I believe the best compliment of all came from my dear Auntie herself, who said, "I think this may be the best cake I've ever eaten!" Coming from a woman with 90 years of cake tasting experience, I believe that is quite a statement!! If you refuse to give consultations because you are too busy, you may not be busy in the future. Amazing and pure magic! Lovely Cakes (LC) recently (Sept 2018) created a replica of an old black leather suitcase so realistic that one guest asked why we brought a suitcase to the party. The owner Renata is a creative genius, a perfectionist. Working from photos I emailed, the scuffed and scratched "leather" suitcase she created stood upright - harder to construct but visually more fun. Then came "metal" corner brackets with perfectly spaced screws; an "old" name tag framed in "leather" attached to the handle and curling at the edges; a thick "worn leather" handle with delicate "metal" swivel hardware; and "metal" locks with buttons and keyholes that looked like they could spring open. Even more impressive is LC's use of advanced printing technology - top quality edible ink printed on delicate thin sugar sheets which produce bright colors that don't bleed. State of the art makes all the difference. LC printed 30 images I emailed, then trimmed and applied each one to the sides of the "leather" suitcase to look like tourist decals - smooth with no raised edges, some overlapping others. It was remarkable artistry! The flavor was wonderful, too: layers of Tuxedo cake held together with Signature Salted Caramel filling and covered in chocolate "leather" fondant. Guests loved it. And, Lovely Cakes is easy to work with, stayed within budget and on time. Violet was unstintingly generous in answering my many questions whenever I called. I went for a cake tasting the other day and was totally disappointed. I have been to many cake tastings in the past at different bakeries throughout Fairfield county. I have been in charge of parties for a very large physician practice for a number of years. First, and foremost was the way I was greeted at the door. I wasn't . I just recently learned the name of the owner on this website. I was just told to have a seat. We were presented with "bite" size cake pieces that to tell you the truth, looked like the pound cake that comes out of the bags you can buy in the store. Then we had six different flavors of icing and filler that were all put in "medicine" dispenser cups. Do yourself a favor. Hire a person that can show you some marketing strategies. You need someone who is upbeat when a person enters your establishment. Presentation is a must. Putting 8 pieces of pound cake and 8 pieces of pineapple upside down cake is not presentation to sell. When I have asked for a baker to have a "tasting", the first thing they did was ask me for the top five flavors I was interested in. The next step, was that they sent samples to the hospital for my staff and I to try. Samples that were actually cakes. Tiny cakes, but still cakes. I then asked my staff to rate the "cakes" that we had from one baker. We chose the best from that baker. I always had five local bakeries compete for making a cake at the hospital. I believe the people, my soon to be "inlaws" were taken advantage of. I believe you knew that once they were in your shop, they would not walk out the door without purchasing anything. I also believe you knew that the only reason that they came to you was because they saw you on TV and that is big thing for the mother of the bride to say... I had "so and so" from the tv show "Cake Wars" do our daughters cake. With how I was treated, and presentation of your "cakes", I would have walked out of your door without making a purchase. I would still not know your name and I would have never considered your establishment as a front runner in any party I was throwing at the hospital. Again, I urge you, to get some help with selling your cakes. You may be an excellent baker. I personally did not see that. Work on your presentation to the customers. You never know who is sitting at your table. read more
