Del Rey Optometry has been my longtime optometrist and they've taken great care of my eyes over the years. Back when I wore glasses, I really appreciated everything that went into the eye exams, prescriptions, fittings, and follow-ups. I had LASIK during the pandemic, so now I mostly come in for my annual eye exams and cross my fingers that everything still looks perfect. I was there just about a month ago and I'm happy to report that all is well. The staff is professional and efficient. Here's hoping I won't need glasses again for a very long time... but if I ever do, I'm glad I already know where I'll be going. read more

I can't rave enough about this optometry practice! I was able to schedule an appointment easily (flexible hours), the staff was incredibly nice and welcoming, and the office was impeccably clean. I met with OD Anna, and she was amazing in explaining my eye issues and very informative about the course of action to take to improve my vision. (Which was nice since the last optometry office I went to didn't explain anything at all & just wanted to upsell me). Chris was invaluable and comedic in teaching me the process of inserting contacts, and I feel like a pro now, largely thanks to his instructions! The reason I gave this place a 9 instead of 10 is that they don't have a very wide variety of eyeglass frames to choose from. However, I continue to come here because of Chris, the optician who takes care of me. He's absolutely fabulous! I've been going to him for years, and his service keeps me loyal to this location. Chris never rushes me, always takes his time, and gives me his honest opinion -- which I value greatly. Even though the prices can be a bit higher, I stick with them because the level of care and attention I get is worth it. I don't see my optometrist but I keep coming back for Chris's expertise and professionalism. If they ever expand their selection of frames, this place would easily get a perfect 10 from me! read more

Great experience with my optometrist for my regular exam but the standout every time is working with Chris (optical technician) afterwards! He spends so much time every visit making sure that my new glasses (or older pairs!) fit perfectly the way that I want. I don't think I've ever worked with anyone at an optical shop who shows as much patience and care - plus he's a fun guy! I've been sad to see the selection of more niche/unique frames go away (although I hear they are considering getting some more again) in place of the usual Ralph Lauren/Gucci/Hugo Boss type stuff so Chris is the main reason that I still go there! read more

I had a decent experience here in the past but always felt like they were more interested in money than in the patient. This time I was disappointed and will no longer be a customer. Last year my contact prescription had expired and I called and they graciously gave me a temporary one for a one month box that I could fill anywhere, as long as I booked an appointment, which I did but was able to get the box from Costco since they have them in stock. Contact exams are not covered by insurance and I ended up spending about $300 when I went in and used my insurance credit to get a box through them but it took over a week. This year the same thing happened but this time they would not grant me an extension unless I bought the contacts from them. They charge 3x the price of most places and take a week to get them. I asked why and they said that legally they couldn't give me a prescription without seeing me, even though they did it the year before and would do it if I bought them through them. I said, well that doesn't make much sense and after 5 years of business I would no longer want to be a patient if they couldn't help me out and without a thought she said, ok, I'll cancel your appointment. Which was almost two weeks away since they have limited evening and weekend appointments to accommodate full time working teachers/single mothers. I don't know when customer loyalty meant so little but I was shocked and now on the search for a new place. read more

Gettin' old. Found out by fluke chance, that I need glasses again. Needed them years ago. Then I didn't. Found out I needed them again, the evening before I renewed my driver's license - where a vision test was required. Good thing I borrowed a friend's pair of glasses or I probably would have failed. Anyway ... Wanted to get my eyes checked and wanted it close to home. Also wanted my insurance to cover it. Found Del Rey online and checked off all the boxes of what I was looking for. So, made an appointment. Came in. Filled out one more piece of paperwork - this was in addition to what I completed online. Did as series of tests on some high tech equipment then was ushered into an exam room where the doctor saw me. More tests. She took her time and made several adjustments making sure that my prescription was right and then I was led to the front office to pick out my lenses. Got what I was looking for and was on my way. Skip to the pick up. I don't remember how long it was supposed to take but it didn't take that long. I received a notification one afternoon that it was ready so I picked it up on my way home from work. Final adjustments were made so the glasses sat comfortably on my nose and ears and I was on my way again. I paid extra for the lens upgrades and frames I wanted but otherwise, insurance covered the rest. My entire experience was professional, everyone was friendly and personable. They were helpful and I didn't feel pressured with sales tactics for more expensive lenses. This is my go to spot for glasses now. read more

Did not have an eye exam here. Only went in to fill a prescription for my own frames. Glasses were sent out to a lab in Ohio and were returned back to me inside of 3 weeks so not too bad according to a friend of mine who says she typically has to wait 3 weeks where she goes. Del Rey offer lenses from high end makers including Essilor and Maui Jim. Frames here are expensive offering mostly high end designer brands. This is a relatively small shop - they don't have walls of frames to choose from. You might get lucky and find something you like and then again, you might not. Staff are friendly enough. Parking is limited. Hanks Pizza around the corner is a good place to grab lunch while you're there. read more

Was not called to be informed there was a problem with my eye glasses and apparently the lenses were redone twice. My appointment was in December 2024 and my eye glasses were ready in February, after I called for the second time for an update. 2 stars for the front desk. Informing a client about the need to make an appointment for frame adjustments after waiting for your $500+ eye glasses since December 2024 might be in poor form. Especially since the client had called about picking up the glasses this morning and was not informed about this requirement. Maybe it felt good from the front desk, but it is enough for me to shop my eye glass services with someone else. I'll still utilize the optometrist, but realize you can take your prescription elsewhere and save a lot of money. read more

I had my son's extra pair of glasses made here. He always complained that they felt different on, but could not articulate why. His prescription changed slightly and we decided to get a another pair of glasses. We went into the store and we were virtually ignored. Therefore I went to another eyeglass location. I asked that eyeglass place to test out the lens to confirm whether or not the one that was done at Del Rey Optometry was done correctly. It was not it was grossly different than his actual prescription. I would never recommend this place such a disappointment. read more

State of the art facility and super knowledgeable! And they carry a fabulous collection of sunglasses and prescription glasses. I've been coming her for years due to their timely appointments and expertise. They are never rushed and are generous with their time when explaining and answering questions. My only concern is that every time my children come in for an exam, they have an excuse to chemically dilate their eyes . Idk if it's because it's an additional service to bill insurance for, but I wish they were a tad more conservative with adding it to the annual exam. I would not recommend. I was dissatisfied with the level of care when receiving an adjustment for my frames. My frames were almost damaged. I expected a better level of expertise for the amount of money i paid for the frames. Doctor was ok. However my prescription was incorrect and i was forced to return to correct the prescription. I was in a pickle: my favorite sunglasses broke - an arm came off. My boyfriend can usually fix anything and he got out the eyeglass repair kit we keep around the house and said, well, this is weird, none of these screws work. Got the wrong samples that made things blurry, got dilated when I said I was driving back to work and was incapacitated for 4 hours, asked for my prescription like 8 times during 3 weeks, and finally got it. The people at DelRey optometry were so kind in trying to help me with my scratched glasses. In the end, new lenses was the only option but they tried polishing and buffing, and even gave me a nice little cloth. All this without charging me. Great visit! Safety and health precautions were taken seriously and an assessment of my health plan and vision benefits was completed before my teenagers visit. Our Optometrist was patient, friendly and age appropriate in seeing my teenager and providing him education and options for achieving 20/20 vision especially in the climate of online classes during COVID-19. The frames are definitely on the pricey side but I assume its the consumer market of the area and profitable for the business. We ended up with Ray-Ban frames to compliment good lenses and that have UV protection and blue light features. Ultimately, I'm happy with how through the experience was and the positive impact it left on my teen. read more

I have been coming here for years, and they have always been super accommodating and have always found a way to squeeze me in at even the more dire situation. As once a frequent flyer with exercise induced styes, the doctors have not only prescribed the right medications to knock them out, but also helped me discover the right regimen to keep them at bay. The only caveat I have, if anything, is that they are usually booked well in advance, and for good reason. I'd just recommend if you feel something coming on, call them ASAP, because they are usually booked out a few days in advance. :) read more

I'm looking for a new optometrist and phoned Del Rey Optometry to ask a couple questions. A very friendly and helpful women answered the phone and replied to all my questions. I inquired about their selection of glasses and asked if I could stop by and take a quick look and was told Yes! I drove out of my way to stop by. The door was locked and a middle aged man answered the door. Not sure if he was one of the doctors. I said I had called ahead and wanted to just come in and take a quick look at their glasses. Literally 30-60 seconds was all I needed. This incredibly rude man told me I needed an appointment and slammed the door in my face. Horrible, off-putting experience!! We had a wonderful experience with Del Rey Optometry to get my teenage son fitted for contact lenses for the very first time. We saw Dr. Lin twice and also Dr. Pennino to fine-tune the prescription. Both doctors are kind, patient, and very knowledgeable about the latest advancements in myopic treatments. A special shoutout to Chris, the optician who helped my son learn how to put in contacts. He could not have been more supportive, encouraging, and patient. My son couldn't get them in after an hour of working with Chris, so we had to return another day to try again. Chris made my son feel at ease and not at all discouraged by that setback. My son's prescription is very high (-6.5) and being able to transition to wearing daily contact lenses has boosted his self-esteem and opened up a whole world for playing sports with ease, etc. We're grateful to have had Del Rey Optometry's partnership for this successful transition. read more
