I went to Del Rey optometry and saw Dr. Rinaldi for a new prescription. When I received my glasses, I felt over corrected and like I was looking through a fishbowl, like warped vision. I came back to explain this, he took down my correction but despite my explaining that my vision also felt warped he did not address that. When I received my glasses again I felt like the edges of my sight felt warped. I have been wearing glasses since my teens so I know the difference between corrected vision and when something is off. I then went back to the same optometrist I went to a few years back and she corrected the axis for my astigmatism. Thankfully the place I got my glasses from allowed me one more set of lenses so I didn't have to pay extra on top of the two months it took to figure this out. I can now see normally. I tried to call Del Rey optometry twice today to give them this feedback, but no one answered the phone, so I'm leaving it here. read more

They send out an email that says don't lose your insurance benefits this year. I called and a person named Carson says they have no availability until the 23rd of December. I told him I'm traveling for the holidays and I've been a regular there for years. I always enjoyed my experience there and all the optometrist and support staff so I was really surprised when this person didn't offer to help me find an appointment or put me on a wait list or say let me see what we can do. Obviously I'll find a new optometrist office that hopefully values loyalty. What a let down. Next time don't send an email saying lets us your benefits before next year. Do better. read more

We have been seeing Dr. Rinaldi and couldn't be happier. The exam is thorough, professional and recommendations are evidence based. Newer tests eliminate the need for dilated pupils and there is often no need for additional ophthalmology visits if the patient does not have a condition requiring additional care and follow up. VSP covers most of our exam costs. There's free parking in the lot and underground. read more

I have been a patient here since 2015. I must say the service that's rendered is extremely professional and friendly ALWAYS. My favorite was Oscar, he is no longer there, has moved to a larger company. I called for an appointment the same day and was able to get in to be seen. The staff Lefty and Kayden was absolutely amazing with great patience. I highly recommend this place for excellence exam performed by a new doctor(I've misplaced his business card). He explained everything to me and answered a lot of questions I had for him. He was well knowledgeable about the concerns I had that needed to be addressed. Had an appointment for contact lenses this time and Customer service is consistently impeccable! everybody is friendly, loves what they do and very knowledgeable! I love my previous optometrist but I found Marina Del Rey Optometry more accessible! Their office is spotless and i highly recommend them! I usually go to the playa office, but I came to Marina to look for some more options for glasses and sunglasses. They have a lot! My sister ended up getting 3 pairs. Dr Jenny Sung was also available that day to help us, and she is my usual opto at the other locations. Everybody is super nice and helpful. Office advertises open hours on Sunday starting at 8am. I called at 8am on Sunday for an issue to speak to an optometrist and voicemail said the on call optometrist would call within 30 minutes. I got a call back 24 hours later. Just for good measure we drove there since that's our optometry office. That's where we spend our money for prescription glasses and there wasn't anyone there. The office was closed even though it advertised open hours. I would've appreciated a call to let me know no one was calling us back. Ended up going to ER for our issue; who knows what that bill will look like. ER's recommendation - after taking drops go see an Optometrist. This is definitely an office we won't be going back to. read more

Follow up: after I picked up my glasses, optician David did a great job adjusting for my crooked nose bridge that makes every pair of glasses tilt. He took the tilt out and made them so they were the right length, not to tight, etc.. Dr Rinaldi also made sure I was comfortable with the prescription when it arrived. A+ read more

I tried to order contacts over the phone. They informed me I had to come in person for a new appointment in case my prescription had changed over the last year. I told them that I'm at risk for COVID, that I'd like to wait until I was fully vaccinated, and asked if I could get a short term supply in the meantime (1-2 months). They refused. I told them that I cannot do my job without contacts. They still refused. Sending me a short term supply of contacts is something they could easily do, but did not presumably because they want me to pay the full fee for an appointment, instead of just ordering contacts. Their stated rationale does not make sense: The risk of wearing of wearing slightly outdated contacts for a couple of months does not outweigh the risk of contracting severe COVID. I should note that the receptionist was nice and sympathetic, this decision came from the staff there and not her. I ultimately found another source for contacts, and will not be going back to Marina Optometry ever again. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Kobayashi since I first moved back to LA in 2012. She's very personable, fun and she really knows her stuff. I think the worst thing about all the visits is that eye-puff test. You just can't get around how that startles. Haha Even though I've moved to Burbank, Silverlake, etc, I still make my way to Marina del Rey to see Dr. Kobayashi. I have a controllable exotropia (like a controllable outward lazy eye) and she teaches real simple exercises to help strengthen those muscles to keep my eyes straight. Personally, I love how laid back the team is. Often, my cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing. Dr. Kobayashi also remembers stuff from previous visits that normal doctors forget. Even though we only see each other once a year (with the pandemic it was a couple years.) I do wish there was more selection for petite frames in their office, but they're really good about doing the appointment and giving my prescription to order glasses elsewhere. Previously I was always made to feel bad by optometrists if I didn't order in-house. I'll keep going to Marina Del Rey Optometry as long as I need glasses. read more

CONTACT LENSE WEARERS, READ THIS!!! IGNORE OTHER IGNORANT REVIEWS. First of all, big thank you to Leti! She is so kind and sweet and helped me with everything I needed. I have a very high astigmatism and in the past at Kaiser, they got my prescription wrong multiple times. Dr. Rinaldi was thorough, kind, and made me feel comforted when I feared for the health of my eyes. His reassurance made me feel safe because usually doctors rush you and don't let you ask all your questions. AS FOR CONTACTS- The doctors have to order contact TRIALS and have the patient feel the prescription in their eyes AND the doctor has to see the contact in your eye to see if it FITS. WHY WOULD THE DOCTOR GIVE YOU THE PRESCRIPTION WITHOUT TRYING THE CONTACT? YOU WILL JUST HURT YOUR EYE IF IT DOESNT FIT! For most of you, you probably didn't listen to what the doctor told you, because its honestly common sense. But people usually wait last minute to get contacts and RUSH THEM! I haven't had any problem with this place, and my boyfriend hasn't had any problem either. If you're nervous about the service because of reviews, go to Leti. If she gives you horrible service, i'll give you a million dollars. read more
