We've been to Del Rio Vineyards several times and always have enjoyed it. As part of the Upper Rogue Wine Trail experience, it did not let us down. This was the first vineyard that my girlfriend and I have been to so we were quite nervous coming in. We honestly didn't know what to expect, how to order, or even what to request. The person in charge of the wine samples was the sweetest and she made us feel welcome and at home right away. She explained the process to us and we were able to sit anywhere along the premises as long as we didn't cross the gate that lead to the vineyard. We got some packaged cheeses and meats to go with our wine and those complemented quite nicely with each other. After the round, the sweet lady gave us a couple suggestions on other vineyards we should visit and we ended up visiting a neighboring vineyard. I would recommend any first timers or veterans to try out Del Rio due to the great experience we were given! read more

We took a wrong turn off the highway and ended up entering the winery's estate (not where the tasting room is located) and we were greeted by a friendly family and their 4 Australian shepherds. They gave us directions back a few miles to the actual tasting room. (Ed. Note: if you don't see a giant red barn, you are at the wrong place!) When we finally arrived at the right location, we could see the giant buildings and the tasting room off to the side. There were a few people in the tasting room because the back patio was not open for the summer season yet. Everyone in the tasting room was hanging out around the bar and talking with the friendly person pouring the wine. While we tasted, a few customers came in to pick up their wine club shipments and that's when I realized that the wine here was probably pretty good. (It is definitely the best one of the three that we tried this weekend.) We ordered two different flights and tried most of their whites and roses, with a few reds mixed in. Also, because we had the wine passport deal, we received discounted pricing on the 7 bottles we bought. We bought several roses, and white varietals. All of them were very reasonably priced as well as good. I would highly recommend Del Rio, but make sure you find the right location, unless you want to meet 4 sweet Australian Shepherds! read more

Went around Labor Day Weekend. The tasting is $10 for five wines. A steal compared to Napa/Sonoma! They come in little carafes so you pour yourself. There's only one menu so we ordered two of the same tasting. We came to Del Rio because we saw them listed on the Alaska Airlines Complimentary Tasting list (which you can read more on my blog if you're interested). The person that was helping us was super nice and carried our drinks to the back patio underneath a nice big tree. We ended up buying the rosé and vc (viognier+chardonnay) blend. Regarding COVID, all the seats were outside. You only had to go inside to check-in or pay. The tables were definitely more than six feet apart so you had a lot of room between your group and another. read more

The grounds were beautiful. The white wine we drank was a bit simple, but we also only paid $16 for it! What a gorgeous spot! Pretty close to where I'm staying. I really like that the server pours your first taste and then the carafes are brought out to your table...you don't have to keep going in and out to move onto your next flight. We had a wonderful afternoon at this winery. It's not far off of the interstate, but the views from the winery are very nice. The tasting room is in a delightful old house. The staff pours your first wine, then you can either sit outside or in the tasting room and they bring you the remaining four wines to taste. We selected the five wines that they recommended and were provided an information sheet on all five wines to go with the tasting. We had an unrushed tasting while conversing with others in the cozy tasting room. Afterwards we enjoyed a bottle of wine outside. Although it was warm there is plenty of shade to enjoy the outdoors and sip on wine. Oh, and their wines were pretty good! They had a nice balance of whites and reds, and we ended up taking a few bottles home. It was a nice, relaxing day! read more

Visiting friends and they suggested this place. The staff were very friendly, the tasting room is a bit small but cozy. Nice crafts, souvenirs and selection of crackers and cheeses to try with your wine. The thing that really made this place special was the outdoor areas with tables and picnic area to drink your wine and maybe snack on some cheese and crackers. Beautiful grounds and beautiful surounding area views. We spent over an hour finishing off our bottle and snacks! It was almost a shame to have to leave. Beautiful grounds with plenty of shade on lush green lawns and vineyard views at this historic former hotel. Generous pours and five samples with a flight. Really enjoyed 2021 Vineyard Road Cuvee and 2019 claret but not so much the chardonnay, cab and syrah. Still, one of the better wineries to visit in the region and easy access from I-5 if traveling through. read more

While I am in Oregon, I decided to grab a friend get in the car and do some back roads exploring. We happened to be driving from Rouge River and entered Gold Hill where we found completely by chance Del Rio Winery! Never heard of but we thought we would park and give it a try. The grounds were very well kept and there people at table enjoying wine and snacks. I walked up to a beautiful late 1800s looking house which turns out is the tasting room and store. They only charge $5 for 6 tastes and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. Our glasses never went empty. I joined there members club where you agree to purchase 2 bottles of wine each quarter. Wine tasting for you and friends IS FREE and you get a big savings on the wine you buy. Great find! read more

Funny, we turned off I-5 at this exit looking for the Oregon Vortex and ended up spending all our time at the tasting room of Del Rio. Tasted through most of the wines for $5. Pretty cheap and easy introduction to Southern Oregon wines. Everything we tried was estate grown, which is impressive in itself with 15 varietals but more kind of cool just to see what varietals of grape grow best in this part of the state. The intro was good enough for us to try a more sustained outing of some other wineries around these parts. -Cool historic post stop building for tasting room. -Interesting bridge and river access across the road. -Oregon Vortex? not sure it was closed after dawdling too long with wine. -Inexpensive tasting but moderate to expensive individual bottle price. read more

Little store inside with candles, jewelry, wine accessories, and local souvenirs. Wine flights are reasonable too. Do yourself a favor and go there for the wine tasting. Their whites are spectacular. I am not a huge wine drinker, but even I enjoy their products. The shop is beautiful, and the drive to it is very pretty. It is easily accessed from I-5 at Gold Hill exit 43(I think) so go, and take friends. Making it a group activity is a lot more fun than a couples trip. read more

Visited Del Rio today for my daughters senior picture photo shoot. This was my first visit to Del Rio. Awesome setting in Gold Hill!! Grape vines covering the entire hill! Cool historical vibe with railroad tracks running through. Friendly does not even capture how nice & helpful staff was! Didn't have full flight, but staff let us taste Claret & Merlot. Had a couple glasses of the merlot. Very nice! Took our glasses and explored the grounds. So incredibly beautiful! I've grown up in Southern Oregon, but am constantly reminded how lucky I am to have places like Del Rio in my back yard. Tasting room has great merchandise. Bought a great boho picnic blanket & some silicone wine glasses. We also purchased a couple bottles of their library selections! I would highly recommend Del Rio for its great customer service and incredible Southern Oregon views! read more

If airplanes and suitcases weren't a factor, we would have taken home some of each.
