    Epic guacamole burrito
    Laura F.

There is a reason this Bullhead City Del Taco has only 2* My first visit was pretty decent but this one was disappointing. Their employees are super friendly and very polite. I give the employees 4* But their food is lacking in multiple areas, and I give the food 1*. The epic guacamole asada burrito was on the small side compared to other fast food restaurants. The main filling was refried beans and lime rice. I could count on 1 hand the pieces of asada in the burrito. And some of the pieces were burned. As for the guacamole, I'm not sure what they used to make it but it did not resemble avocado in texture or taste. Maybe it was an off day, not sure I'm willing to give them another try.

Where's the sauce?! Only cheese and chicken.

Prob the worst fast food service I've had while visiting the area. And most definitely the worst Del Taco service I've ever had. Put in an online order. Pulled up to the window and I wasn't greeted in a friendly manner, but I can overlook that (though they weren't busy. No cars in parking lot and one car in front of me and one behind that's it). I open up my bag to count the times bc I'm visiting. Nothing worse than getting back to the hotel and the food items are incorrect. I immediately go through the bag and Del Taco rep at the window gives the biggest audible sigh and says, "Ma'am, can you move up and check your bag elsewhere?" Are you kidding me? I did so, but wow. Super rude and unprofessional. Food was okay - just got some soft chicken tacos , but the chicken was more on the "end" pieces - not chunked up with white meat chunks. Literally didn't taste any "special secret sauce" that's supposed to be on it either. Unsatisfying experience.

As far as I am concerned, this is the best Mexican food on either side of the Colorado. Starting with the freshly made corn and flour tortillas (I usually eat flour tortillas, but at El Charro, I will choose corn tortillas 99.9% of the time.) The chips are terrific with two salsas brought to the table. The Choriqueso is a cheesy deliciousness. I am not really a pozole fan, but here, it is very good and really has an awesome taste. I always get their menudo. Lots of honey comb and a good ratio of corn to meat. For me, the fact that I can get pata is great because it is becoming harder to find many restaurants that will provide you with that delicacy. I always alternate between their different tacos and this time I got a tripa taco. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it is great here. Well fried and crispy and with their hotter salsa spread over it, with fresh tortilla, I am in heaven. From my first trip to this restaurant, I have always loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. It truly feels like a great little Mexican restaurant and I am happy to see they have expanded. I envy all you folks who live in Bullhead City and have easy access to this restaurant. I live in Phoenix and no trip to Laughlin is complete without a stop to El Charro.

When we politely asked why, we weren't given an explanation--just repeatedly told that we couldn't bring it in. We were confused and even debated whether we wanted to stay. I eventually asked another staff member, who kindly explained the reason behind the policy. Once it was explained, we completely understood and were fine with it. A simple explanation from the beginning would have made all the difference. The rest of our experience was wonderful. Our server was attentive, friendly, and on top of everything throughout our meal. The food was also delicious, and everyone in our party really enjoyed it. The place looked great except for the restroom trash can was overflowing with paper towels, maybe invest in a bigger trash can if you have that much foot traffic However, toward the end of dinner, we noticed another family with a child who had a water bottle at their table. That left us confused all over again. If the policy applies to everyone, it should be enforced consistently. If there are exceptions, those should be communicated clearly. Overall, we enjoyed the food and service, but the inconsistent handling of the water bottle policy left us with mixed feelings.

We stayed 5.5 miles away, on the River Walk, made the leisurely return drive to Bonito once we saw the colorful frontage on an earlier foray into Bullhead City for necessary provisions once we RECOILED from the sky high prices at the Harrah's Tropicana (ex, $7.49 for a 20oz jar of Diet Pepsi). BG greets its guests with festive, brightly painted dark orange. We began our course with a titanic mango margarita. To their credit, they feature warmed bean dip topped with crumbled queso fresco as an accompaniment to their chips/salsa. Leti, after choosing BG for its seafood heavy menu, threw a curve and opted for a bowl of birria soup. I chose an Asada Chimichanga with a duo of asada tacos dorados. The tortillas are handmade and delicious! Both Leti and I marveled at the quality of the house Mexican rice, super fresh, fluffed and teeming with a light, florid tomato-dense taste complimented by Lima beans. Quite the refreshing departure from the bland rice dispensed by 90% of Mexican restaurants! My wife said that her Caldo de Birria was good...but that it wasn't super plentiful in meat. My chimi arrived golden brown with a heap of melted cheddar jack cheese bullseyed on the top. The interior is studded with asada, bell peppers and onions. First time I've ever seen bell peppers utilized inside burritos! The asada crunchy (dorado) tacos were generously stuffed with asada...but zero accompaniments like onions/cilantro/lettuce or tomato. I hadta redeploy the lettuce/tomato served alongside my chili, inside my tacos! If you're gonna charge $5/Taco at least send them properly attired! Gentle suggestion: Consider offering guests a side serving of fresh lettuce, tomato, diced onions and cilantro to dress up their tacos. Or, serve them with a ramekin of steamy birria broth... The mango marg was not "super sweet" (as our server Daniela had described) and we both thought it was stingy on the tequila, esp for its $16.99 belt, er, tab. Our bill was $86 incl taxes and tip for two entrees, a cocktail and a soda.

They even have props you can put on, which adds a playful touch to the whole experience. The place is split into two main areas: one for dining and the other with a full bar, pool tables, and karaoke. Bonus--it all glows! Such a vibe. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of options. I was especially impressed by the massive baked potato piled high with meat--seriously, it's a must-try! They also had a dessert with fried plantains topped with strawberries and condensed milk... so good I had to take one to go! Service was friendly and attentive, though one small hiccup was having to grab our own utensils. It wasn't a big deal, but it would've been nice to know up front instead of waiting to ask. That said, it didn't take away from the overall great experience. Some items are served in to-go style containers, which felt a little casual for dining in, but again, not a dealbreaker. Whether you're just grabbing a bite or looking for food and entertainment, this spot is worth checking out!

We usually try a new restaurant or return to an old favorite, and this was my first time here. There is parking outside, although it could be a little difficult if you're hauling jet skis or a boat. This is definitely a hole-in-the-wall type of place. It's older and a bit dated, and from the outside it almost looks closed. There were a few customers inside, most of them appearing to be locals, which I always take as a good sign. The coffee was very good, and I liked that they had self-serve creamers, including half-and-half and vanilla creamer. You order at the counter, and when your food is ready, they call you up to pick it up. There is no table service. There was only one cashier, so if you needed something while she was helping another customer, you have to wait. We needed a larger table, but the only one available needed to be cleaned. An employee came over to wipe it down, and there was some frustration on her end because we had already placed our salsa and coffee on the table. It was a minor, but unfortunately, I had the same experience later when I asked for some more creamer because it was empty. The bathroom also did not have any hand soap or paper towels when we visited around 10 AM. There was hand sanitizer available near the cashier. As for the food, I ordered a carne asada plate with eggs after asking if they had a plate similar to steak and eggs. I requested no rice and no tortillas. The portion was generous, but what came out was quite different from what I expected. There was hard rice on the plate, the beef was diced and more like taco meat, and it was served over a corn tortilla. I also ordered my eggs over-medium, but they were cooked completely through with no yolk. I had a couple of bites and ended up boxing the rest. I did notice other customers ordering things like shrimp cocktails and menudo, which I thought might have been a better choice. In hindsight, I probably should have asked what they were known for. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. The coffee was good, the portions were generous, and I'd be willing to give it another try if we're back in town. I will say that their chips and guacamole dip is very good. I also like that they have a self-serve salsa bar, where you can try their green, red, and habanero salsa. They had lime and other condiments available. Next time, I will ask what their popular dishes are.
