This is definitely a hole-in-the-wall type of place. It's older and a bit dated, and from the outside it almost looks closed. There were a few customers inside, most of them appearing to be locals, which I always take as a good sign. The coffee was very good, and I liked that they had self-serve creamers, including half-and-half and vanilla creamer. You order at the counter, and when your food is ready, they call you up to pick it up. There is no table service. There was only one cashier, so if you needed something while she was helping another customer, you have to wait. We needed a larger table, but the only one available needed to be cleaned. An employee came over to wipe it down, and there was some frustration on her end because we had already placed our salsa and coffee on the table. It was a minor, but unfortunately, I had the same experience later when I asked for some more creamer because it was empty. The bathroom also did not have any hand soap or paper towels when we visited around 10 AM. There was hand sanitizer available near the cashier. As for the food, I ordered a carne asada plate with eggs after asking if they had a plate similar to steak and eggs. I requested no rice and no tortillas. The portion was generous, but what came out was quite different from what I expected. There was hard rice on the plate, the beef was diced and more like taco meat, and it was served over a corn tortilla. I also ordered my eggs over-medium, but they were cooked completely through with no yolk. I had a couple of bites and ended up boxing the rest. I did notice other customers ordering things like shrimp cocktails and menudo, which I thought might have been a better choice. In hindsight, I probably should have asked what they were known for. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. The coffee was good, the portions were generous, and I'd be willing to give it another try if we're back in town. I will say that their chips and guacamole dip is very good.
