The manager Michelle is an idiot. I tried to use the rewards in the Del Taco app and she said the scanner isn't working. I told her why don't you use the scanner at the Drive-Thru and she said No. Therefore, since she never told me it didn't work at the register I lost 1280 points. She could of covered the meal but she again said No. This is so unacceptable considering this is a corporate Del Taco and not a franchise she could of fixed it, but she decided against it. The Del Taco on Highland avenue is so much better, never going to the one on Greenspot again. They constantly get the orders wrong, horrible Del Taco and manager Michelle is beyond worthless. How are you going to close off the inside and force everyone to go through the drive through even for mobile orders? Makes zero sense. I will never ever go to this Del Taco again. I don't eat fast food often but when I do, it's usually Del Taco. This one has always been the most convenient for me in terms of hours and location but after today I will drive out of my way to go elsewhere. The drive thru has always been slow and the customer service okay.. Polite with a smile, but never above the minimum expected. Today I ordered the Huervos Rancheros burrito without the beans. A couple bites in I came across hard bits of something black which appeared to be burned meat. No problem, I scooped it out and kept going.. Then I realized there are beans.. Well dang it.. I grabbed a bowl, opened the burrito and started scooping around the beans. I stopped instantly when I spotted a fairly thick black hair In the center of my burrito. It had the little white root still attached. I took multiple pictures and threw my food away. I called my sitter and asked that she toss the little burrito that I gotten for my son. Worst del taco I've ever been to! It was 2am and we didn't get out of the drive thru for 45 min! Service took forever! Literally a line of 5 cars at a complete stop! We moved every 15 min! I'd choose Del Taco over Taco Bell any day but this location left something to be desired. While the food was standard Del Taco fare, the service was so slow. We spent over 20 minutes at the restaurant just ordering and waiting for our food, which we took to-go. This is definitely not acceptable for a "fast food" restaurant. We went inside the store so we could use the restroom and stretch our legs en route from San Diego to Big Bear and we're thinking the drive-thru line took priority to the inside orders. But there's really no excuse for taking 20 minutes to get a few tacos to go. As for the food, I love Del Taco's chicken soft tacos or burritos. A month ago I popped in and the kid that took my order had great customer service skills. His greeting, engagement, and delivery were . I wish I would've gotten his name, I did reach out to Del-Taco corporate with a copy of my receipt to let them know. I don't know if they ever did anything. I stopped in again last night and I had another great experience. From the time I was greeted at the mic. I knew I was in good hands. In a day where customer service seems to be at the bottom of the training regiment, I think it's important that consumers recognize these individuals for their skills. Not saying you have to do it, but I made it a point to tip at the window both times and to let each one know that his customer service skills were appreciated. When I get my food, I receive a small fry AND Chili Cheese Fries (which means I was charged for both instead of upgrading) AND I was missing a chicken soft taco. It's a mediocre location; far from the best Del Taco I've experienced- But also not the worst. This one falls somewhere in between. Being that I recently moved up to Big Bear, this is now the closest location (Sad day). So I know that I will come to this one for that very reason- it's the only one nearby!! So on my way back up the mountain I will probably always stop here before I head up. The food was decent, the staff were friendly and service was pretty fast- there was only one other car in the drive thru though. I ordered a couple of burritos to put in the fridge and save to eat later, a cheese quesadilla, 2 Del Tacos with guacamole added, and a small French fry. Fries were a scolding hot when I got them so I know they were fresh out the fryer! Nice and salty too. The quesadilla could have used more cheese, it was kind of wimpy. And the tacos did have much guacamole ever tho I paid extra- like half a scope in each taco. Where as other locations load it up when you pay extra for it. They also barely put any tomatoes. I am sick and tired of showing up to this alleged "24 hour" establishment, only to find it to be CLOSED. They put cones or wet floor caution signs up to block the drive thru. Super cool when you are trying to just get a few tacos after work. I don't know why they are closed every time I show up. It makes me want to run over their cones or wet floor signs and order anyway.
