Telescope Coffee has been on my bookmarks for ages! I've seen them all over social media, and with their aesthetic drinks, I knew I had to visit. It's worth a trip at least once for sure! The cafe is dog-friendly and cute. When you arrive, they have a lot of quirky, fun decor, like disco balls and a free bookshelf! Ordering is simple and done at the register. There are a few tables to sit and hang out at, but I wouldn't work here. The service was efficient. So what got me was their blueberry. A nickname my friend has for me, so anytime I see it, I have to get it. I got the Blueberry Milk Matcha with Oat Milk. The color was gorgeous, and you could taste both the subtle, mild blueberry and the earthy matcha. For the size and quantity, it was definitely a bit pricey. But it's worth a try at least once if you enjoy blueberries. I recommend Telescope Coffee for all the other Gen Z cafe girlies like myself. I wouldn't go out of my way more than once, though, but if I lived in the area, I'd be a regular. Try their drinks, the other food items seemed popular too! One of those things where you're looking through your cloud photo space, see some photos, and are like... did I ever write that Yelp review? The answer was nah brah. You didn't. So here I am much later, but because I still remember how tasty my coconut matcha was, and how cool this little shop/bakery was! I was a total matcha novice at the time, and really, I still am. But it was this particular drink that made me want to discover more of them. It was creamy but a little earthy, energizing but not "buzzing the room" levels, and just what I wanted to kick of a morning adventure with some co-workers. My second visit to Telescope! Happy to say Telescope is still delicious. Sad to say the walk from Market street is still messy... This time I ordered the seasonal cherry blossom cold foam matcha and a strawberry ube cookie. Staff was helpful with my order and ensured I knew the cold foam was made with dairy (since I ordered my drink w/oat milk) and offered pastry suggestions. The strawberry ube cookie was delicious - a soft baked sugar cookie texture with great strawberry flavor coming through. The matcha itself was more floral than sweet. Matcha fans will enjoy but as a broken human I need more sugar with my caffeinated beverages.... Would still recommend! Another great experience at Telescope. Coming back again soon! read more

I stopped by because a baker was hosting a pop-up in the store, and I also wanted to grab a coffee to support the shop rather than just come for the event. I ordered the pandan coconut cream drink with an added espresso shot. The drink ended up being a bit pricey with the extra shot, which I didn't mind at first since I love anything pandan and coconut. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. It mostly tasted like a generic sweet coffee, and I didn't really get much pandan or coconut flavor coming through. The espresso also felt a bit weak. The drink wasn't very cold either and was more on the lukewarm side, so next time I would probably ask for extra ice. Parking in the area might also be a little difficult. Overall, I might have just ordered the wrong drink, but based on this experience, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back for coffee. I came by to grab a coffee and opted for the monte carlo which is their iced coffee with an orange cream top. The cream top is very sweet by itself but is balanced out by the coffee once you mix it. I do think the coffee itself was a bit bland and I wished they used a darker roast to balance out the milky sweet top. Overall not bad but on the pricier side. read more

Saw the reviews and I was excited for Matcha! Unfortunately, my iced Matcha latte with almond milk was not giving. I asked the gal for sweetener and got a bit of an off putting response where she said they didn't have any, so I specified an example such as honey to which she said that they had some at the end of the counter that I could do myself. My Matcha tasted like almond milk more than anything so I asked for a bit of extra Matcha to which she said she could if I paid more. My favorite item was the focaccia with rosemary and tomato. Order at the counter, I think the coffee is quite pricey (a latte is $7). Usually lattes are $5.75 - $6.25. The cashier was very patient. Good space to sit down, catch up, and read the community book. The honey comb latte ($7.75) was okay, but the beans need a slightly longer roast for a stronger coffee taste. The honey comb will melt in the drink eventually. The cardamon spice cold brew has good spices, but again, not too much coffee taste and was pretty sweet. Met a colleague here on Sunday morning and enjoyed this coffee shop. I got the pandan coconut milk with a shot of matcha and also one of their blueberry pastries and both were excellent. Unfortunately had a pretty disappointing visit here. The aesthetic of the coffee shops and drinks are super cute but prices are very expensive. Still wanted to support a local coffee shop so we ended up getting the strawberry milk, banana cold foam iced latte, cold brew, and some dog treats. My boyfriend enjoyed his two drinks and my dog seemed to enjoy his treats as well lol. Unfortunately my cold brew was very sour and bitter. I typically order a cold brew at all coffee shops I go to and every once in a while i'll find one that has been over steeped leading to this bitter sour taste. As I only took a few sips and realized this was not a good cold brew my boyfriend had asked politely if there was any way we could exchange the drink for a latte, the barista had said there is no refunds or exchanges. Working in the coffee industry my self I know this is unacceptable. A simple exchange to make customers happy is typically a very simple task. They didn't offer to add anything to make it taste better (which wouldn't have helped make it taste better anyways) and didn't seem to care at all that I did not enjoy my overpriced drink. I took one more sip and ended up throwing the whole thing away, walked over to a different coffee shop and got a delicious cold brew there. For drinks, we tried: Matcha Latte (1/5 - thought this would be better because the matcha looked really green at first but after mixing, not sure what matcha they use but it had a dull green color and tasted kinda watery with a bitter taste) Matcha Rose Latte (2/5 - this was very sweet and not much matcha taste with the rose overpowering everything; it was half the drink so I get why it was so strong) Matcha Lavender Latte (3/5 - strong lavender taste, probably good for a lavender milk but not for matcha) For pastries, we got the Chocolate Chip Cookie, Ube Cookie, and Blueberry Puff. I personally enjoyed the Blueberry Puff the most because they use real blueberries inside but my friends didn't like it since it was really wet inside. The cookies were a bit dry but still flavorful. On a recent trip to San Francisco, my friend wanted to go on a matcha-crawl. We researched a few of SF's top spots, and headed to Telescope Coffee first after reading a few reviews. Telescope Coffee is a POC women-owned biz with all syrups, concentrates, and pastries made in-house. Such a cute hole-in-the-wall spot offering fun bevs and also non caffeinated options too. I ordered an iced orange matcha and croffle. Loved the homemade feels and friendly service while waiting. Also loved the additional personal touch and drink compliments to each cup. It's all in the details! I have never tried an orange matcha before and was pleasantly surprised. So delicious! I preferred my selection iced vs hot, and noticed they also had a rose matcha which a few friends enjoyed. The seasonal drinks seem super fun, would love to return for the seasonal strawberry milk with matcha served in the cutest little strawberry cup/straw (see their Yelp for photos). This was definitely a five-star Yelp find! This was the first stop on my SF matcha tour and it did not disappoint. The shop is so beautiful and naturally lit, it seems like it would be a good place to work from. I tried the earth day matcha and enjoyed it! I really like their seasonal drink selection, and for those who like matcha, they indicate the grade which is was great! They are known for their focaccia, tomato garlic rosemary. We also got a blueberry seasonal pastry to eat. My friend got the honeycomb latte and I got the cardamom iced latte. The pastry was flaky and the blueberry was a little tart/not too sweet. Loved it! I'm really happy I came across Telescope Coffee. It's located in SOMA in an area that I wouldn't usually be, but I come back because I quite like the vibes here. The space feels very warm and inviting, with plants, natural lighting, a bookshelf, etc. I also love that they host so many pop-ups here; I've been able to try several of the bakers and chefs that I follow on Instagram since they have their events here.
