I don't know why it took me this long to write a review because my partner and I have been here before, but after last night, it feels right. We stopped by after our Valentine's dinner because we wanted to find a cozy place for dessert and coffee to end the night. Café Greco just felt like the perfect choice -- somewhere warm, simple, and comfortable. I had a cappuccino, and we shared cheesecake and tiramisu. The cappuccino was smooth and warm -- the kind that makes you slow down and just enjoy the moment. The cheesecake was creamy without being too sweet, and the tiramisu had that soft espresso flavor that melts perfectly into every bite. Simple, classic, and consistently good. What we really love is the atmosphere. It's cozy, relaxed, and feels very neighborhood -- no rush, no pressure, just a place to sit and talk. It's become part of our little traditions. Also, just a heads up -- it's cash only, so make sure to come prepared. And honestly, that old-school charm is part of why we appreciate it. It's always great to support a local spot that's been part of the community for years. We'll definitely keep coming back -- especially for nights like this.

Best tiramisu omg, not the best I ever had but pretty close second! It's moist and light , not too sweet and its a somewhat healthy portion. Pricey but worth every bite! I will keep coming back over and over. Some of the other sweets are good too if they are out of the tiramisu. Ambiance is cute & romantic cafe with seats at the window, cafe from french or Italian movie kinda feel... its big with 2 sides for seating. The service is fast & the guys are friendly, it cash only!
We stopped by Cafe Grecco in search of some dessert after dinner in Little Italy and popped in here. Please note: CASH ONLY!!! That took me be by surprise but its worth it!! We got 2 pieces of dessert - a tiramisu and another chocoalte liquor cake. We also got hot chocolate which just had to be one of the richest most flavorful hot chocolates I have ever had! The dessert was delicious and I thought everything was great. Docking a star because the cash only thing wasn't the best and I thought it was a little expensive.
CASH ONLY! This place is an iconic North Beach cafe. Everyone that works here is so friendly and very kind to their regulars. I got the prosciutto, mozzarella, roasted pepper panini which was listed as the customer favorite on the menu. It was a good panini, however, nothing special. My friend got the breakfast panini and liked it but again nothing special, and he preferred the prosciutto, mozzarella, roasted pepper panini instead. The place has great espresso and beautiful looking pastries. I will be coming back for a giant cookie someday soon. The food didn't blow me away, but I love the ambiance of this place and will take anyone that is visiting here. Just a ish it wasn't cash only, but I get it.
The atmosphere here is what draws you in as well as the assortment of sweet treats. Being here on a Saturday reminds me of the old days when the City was vibrant so it was great to experience this again. Hubby is on the hunt for an authentic cannoli so we came here based on you yelper. The filling is pretty good and smooth with mini chocolate chips. The shell was okay and not crispy since the cannoli is prefilled. Eating this back at the hotel and I really needed a nice cappuccino. Ugh! We also picked up a tiramisu which was okay. It was quite wet and lacking in coffee flavor and I'm not sure if the cream is heavy cream versus mascapone. It was very light and not overly sweet at all. Next time I want to try more housemade treats and a cappuccino! Please support this local business.

I was a bit suspicious at first. I was looking for a coffee and I noticed that there was a lot of other items on the menu. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised by my latte. The man who gave me my latte was very kind and seemed to know what he was doing. We sat outside and it was good Sunny vibes. Definitely will come back and maybe even order some food.
After having a delicious meal at the Stinking Rose across the street on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in San Francisco. We decided to stop for a beautiful coffee at my favorite Café spot. I've been coming here for years, and you come here because the coffee is on point! On this day, I had affogato, which means coffee with ice cream. It was the perfect way to end a beautiful lunch. The service is always fast because they're always busy, and they know how to get you going. Most people take it to go. This has always been our go to Tiramisu spot! When it's coming out a Pyrex pan you know it's going to be really good. The staff is super friendly and they are really fast turning around your order. It felt like a Tardis entering the cafe. At first it was deceivingly small but when you turn to the left there was a lot of more seating. They also have seating on the outside too which is really nice. Protip: Don't forget to bring Cash!!!! This is a cash only establishment.

The classic cheesecake was Amazing. It was the best cheesecake I've ever tasted. The espresso was super strong but good. The service was really fast but they were very friendly, nice and helpful. The ambiance was nice but the bathroom was dirty. read more

Do I recommend Caffe Greco? Let's see... I was in the city for 2 days and came here 3 times. OF COURSE I'd recommend Caffe Greco! The coffee isn't burnt which I have grown accustomed to when getting coffee nowadays, sadly. They have their espresso machine calibrated just right so the coffee is PERFECT! My go-to coffee order is the White Caffe Moca. It hits the spot and I literally could drink this ALL DAY. Soooooo good! It's got just the right touch of sweetness without being overwhelming They have so many pastries/desserts to choose from (I didn't get to try any this time around but I have my eye on the Sacripantina for when I come back) OH! They're CASH ONLY so make sure to have some on hand before hopping in line. Caffe Greco is a must-visit -- trust me on this one! read more

Cafe Greco was a stop with me and my friends in the 90's early 2000s, before Yelp was thought of. This is a simple cafe, but something about just sitting down with an actual cup of coffee in a real cup and watching the world go by. I just ordered a simple cafe later and a mozzarella and tomato crossiant. It tasted so refreshing with fresh mozzarella and in season tomato.THIS IS CASH ONLY PLACE. read more
Such a cute cafe located in Little Italy! After seeing the sundae prices at Ghirardelli Square, I was a little bummed but still wanted a sweet treat so I stopped by Cafe Greco for some gelato, and I'm glad I did! The ambience inside is super cozy with lots of seating and the outdoor patio was so cute! The service was also great, the workers serving our gelato were funny and friendly. The gelato flavor selection was on the smaller side, but was delicious and definitely hit the spot. They are cash only. Will come back next time I'm back in SF! read more

I have walked by this place many times over the years but decided to stop today. This place makes cappuccinos and sells pastries. Guy that makes the cappuccinos is an artist with his craft and very friendly. Made a tulip with foam on top. Had Double Greco Grande, best cappuccino I have had in recent memory. We sat outside and chatted and people watched. Perfect place for that. Beautiful weather on Monday. read more

Simply fantastic cappuccino, super fast service in a lively, upbeat establishment. I mean, it was incredible-- the barista knew I was going to order a cappuccino before I even opened my mouth. We passed this place while in North Beach and decided to stop by today for breakfast. Really cute coffee shop, it's cash only but there are plenty of ATMs locally and prices are great! Lovely service and staff. Enjoyed a delicious cappuccino with extra shot and my daughter and I shared the cannoli which was delicious and the tiramisu- also fantastic! My husband had the panini which was one of the best I have ever had! So fresh and perfectly balanced! I've been coming to Caffe Greco for over thirty years. Best lattes and cappuccinos in the Bay and wonderful panini sandwiches and salads. Just a skip away from historic City Lights and Vesuvius Bar. Home to North Beach poets, writers, intellectuals and locals including the late poet laureate Jack Hirschman and legendary Lawrence Ferlinghetti who were known to hold court here on occasion. The owners and staff including William, Guillermo, Eric, Antonio, Benito and Carlitos make you feel like a VIP. Spirit muses always inspire my writing here and it's Greco is one of my favourite spots to read. Don't be surprised if you see Greco in my next novel! xoxox Dr. Pepper. read more
I'm OBSESSED with their almond torta. It's gluten free for whom it may concern, and so decadenty moist and nutty. Has a vaguely citrusy taste as well, like orange zest perhaps. Truly inspired. As for the place itself, it's a cool cafe for a night time hangout. I spent some hours parked there at a table working on a sculpture. No one noticed or complained. Only thing that's vaguely annoying is the bathroom sitch. You have to have an associate let you in with a key, and occasionally they forget you're in there and will let someone else in while you're still doing your business. One of my favorite people watching spots in the city. I love sitting at the sidewalk tables with a hot tea and sweet treat after dinner. The friendly staff and service here is unmatched! Came here around 7:00 PM on a Thursday and there was a small line that quickly grew behind us. The counter and display case was filled with delicious looking pastries and cakes, and the menu boasts a large variety of beverages. I didn't expect it to be so big inside -- there's a whole separate seating area from the one in the front! Plenty of seating, which is needed for all the patrons that come through. They're cash only, so be prepared when you come. The staff were joking around with customers and super conversational, it felt like I was being welcomed into a family. I got a generous slice of the Sacripantina cake, and it was delicious! The sponge layers were soaked through with liqueur and the cream layers were thick yet light. The desserts here are wonderful, but the ambiance here really makes it. Will be coming here more often! read more

Located in Little Italy, this certainly has a lot of patrons. We visited New Year's Evel The only thing you need to know is that CASH is the only acceptable form of payment. I guess Caffe Greco is trying to save on the credit card service fee so cash only accepted. We needed a little pick me up in preparation. For NYE so we ordered the Illy Cappuccino & shared this large cup. The froth & richness was perfect. We didn't get any dessert bc of the not so great reviews, it this certainly didn't stop patrons from ordering their tiramisu. read more

The vibe, the coffee, the gelato, and the pastries! So so good. The staff are friendly and fast! Moving the line and making the best coffees. I had the caffe africato. It was so yummy and perfect after our lunch. If you go to North Beach this is a must stop location for a delicious coffee and some Pastry. read more
Such a cozy vibe here. Perfect place to people watch and just enjoy a cup of coffee or slice of tiramisu. You order first at the counter. And if it's long, don't worry it goes by fast. Then you find yourself a seat and enjoy. Lots of people just reading a book or doing a crossword puzzle. I can't wait to come back and try more desserts. The best thing on the menu is the Sacripantina cake coupled with the cafe greco. The cake is light, fluffy, flavorful and sweet. Perfect for a late afternoon fix with coffee. The service is great with friendly staff who serve quickly. The space is large and homey with both patio and indoor seating. Good for hanging out, book club and also quiet studying. read more

I have never tasted a more delicious cheesecake and it's my favorite dessert of all time. All of the staff are extremely kind and accommodating, the atmosphere is so warm and cozy and most importantly, their espresso is absolutely delicious and smooth. I personally had a caffe latte and it was creamy without being overpoweringly so. Highlyyyy recommend!! read more
