My freezer compartment in my Kitchenaid fridge was leaking all over the place and the ice cube maker did not work. I did my research in regards to companies that are fair, efficient and local. I read several positive reviews for Delavan Appliance Repair and gave them a call. Tracy answered the phone right away and took my info. You have to give them a credit card number since the service call is $100 but still better than buying a whole new fridge. The appointment was made for three days later at noon. Dan and his son showed up right on time. They took my fridge apart in no time and assessed the situation. They were cordial and efficient while ensuring that none of the pieces broke while disassembling the unit. They talked about what they were finding and the possible solutions. There was no upselling, no 'you need a new this, a new that'; just service. They found the issue right away and put everything back together just the way it was. The service appointment went smooth, fast and accurate. Called to schedule an appointment for my GE Refrigerator. I was given the price of $59.95 for the service call, plus parts and labor...no problem. I went on to provide additional information for the appointment and I was told that, as I live in Amherst, it would be $100 for the Service Call??? I inquired as to why and was told for extra travel. From Cheektowaga to Amherst???? It's 13.5 miles! The woman I spoke with then said that I needed to provide a credit card number to secure the appointment. I did not feel comfortable, having not done business with them before and was told that they would not schedule without this!!! read more

Had a flood in my basement and my 1 year old washing machine tanked. Delavan Dan came through and fixed it. His next appointment wasn't until Monday (called Friday), but I guess everyone is entitled to a weekend. Only complaint is that he told my tenant 140+tax, but my cc turned up $171. I haven't mustered up the desire to call back and haggle, I might just chalk it up to parts. It only took him an hour or so to diagnose and fix. Wow! I decided to choose this repair service because of the excellent reviews they received online. I was not disappointed! Called with an issue our washer was having not draining. My Husband is very "home repair" inclined and still couldn't figure it out so figured we'd bite the bullet and call. Very easy scheduling process over the phone. They showed up on time, examined the issue and discovered they'd never dealt with my washer brand before. The tech decided to do on-site research and call other techs to come to a solution. I hate to leave a bad review for a small business, but the other reviews (which we used to choose this company) were not accurate for us. First of all, we left a message and didn't hear back for days, so we called again and were told it would be nearly a week for him to come out. Okay, fine, people get busy sometimes. At least our problem is a washing machine and not a refrigerator or something more dire. Then he arrives and is disgusted that my husband had taken some parts off and tried to fix it himself. We left the parts off because the machine still runs enough to see what the problem is and thought it would save him time. We just didn't have the correct tool to get the last part off before we could reach the broken one. Then he asked me a question about a part and literally mocked, word for word, my answer. Sorry, unacceptable. Some advice, Dan: if you don't believe we diagnosed the problem correctly, you should have just politely said you needed to put it back together first to make sure and that it would cost extra (if that's the case). Also, no need to mock me. I probably did accidentally throw a colloquial "like" into my explanation (as you quoted when you mocked my explanation), but I'm definitely not too dumb to understand that. Even if someone isn't very smart, it's still a better choice to be polite and considerate--that way you get repeat business and not a bad review. read more

Called these guys after reading reviews here. Showed up in time, service call is half what most charge and price for repair was at least 40% cheaper than other quotes. Took him 45 minutes and was very pleasant and friendly. Highly recommend! Oh and though it was a long distance call he charged me regular rate. Dan and his son arrived on time, quickly diagnosed the problem with a Gas Dryer using their equipment and knowledge, presented me with a reasonable estimate before doing any work (replacing ignition coils), took it apart in minutes, replaced the coils, and tested their work. Gas Dryer works! All this in 30 minutes. I was impressed with their friendliness, professionalism, and knowledge. Had them come out to check a dryer that wasn't drying. They advised that exhaust was clogged, they unclogged it and left. Dryer still didn't work. Called on weekend and left a message, no return call. Called on Wed and said they'd come back next week. Found someone else who can come out tomorrow. read more

old maytag washing machine began to misfire on seemingly random sections of the cycle. he checked the machine briefly and discovered that what i had done 20 years ago to disable the automatic shut off when raising the lid was failing. he bypassed the switch permanently and i'm up and running again. strikes me as a guy it would be hard to stump. he's on my list for the future! read more

BAD ATTITUDE, NO CHARACTER AND PLAIN RUDE! I have no idea how this company has great reviews, unless of course they were all written by the owners themselves. When I called this company I spoke with the owner who seemed very pleasant and who's service call price was very reasonable. Unfortunately his pleasant demeanor changed when he came out. I had to make an emergency visit to the vet the morning of my appointment, so instead of cancelling last minute, I had my sister come over to the house to meet him. He apparently made some nasty comments to her about me as I had taken off some covers off the fridge to clean the condenser. He told her that " He hates when people take things apart who don't know what they're doing". Apparently I did know what I was doing as I fixed the fridge myself! He was paid cash and left. I asked my sister if he looked at the 2 other items on the fridge, that he and I had talked about the previous day, and he did not. She put in a call to him to ask about the other items. When he called her back he was nasty and rude. He told her that it was my fault because I had not been there myself. I guess he has no understanding of emergencies. He told her that "When he has time for me, tell him to call me" She apparently told him that he was rude and had a bad attitude. He then he hung up on her. I put a couple of called into him and he did not have the decency to call back. I called again and spoke to a woman, who turned out to be his wife. I told her about our experience, and that he had no character as he did not have the decency to call me back. She also hung up on me. These people are "real class acts". DO NOT USE THEM. They may be a little bit cheaper, but I guess you get what you pay for. read more
