We had a site along the water this week which was nice except with all the rain, it was quite muddy afterwards. Showers were smelly and VERY slippery! There was NO WIFI while we were there which was disappointing especially due to the rain. We could've watched a movie instead of just sitting in the truck waiting for the rain to stop. Our families were unable to connect with us and were worried with the storm. Was told by front office the technician would be fixing this but didn't know when. We've been here 4-5 times in the past but don't think we will book here again. read more

We have stayed here for the past 2 years and it was great. I guess there has been new management and what we experienced was unacceptable. One of our sites was double booked. They split up original campsites to make more. Everyone was on-top of each other. After we complained we were harassed one night 3 times. Said our music was loud, we had no music on. It was ridiculous. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. I do not recommend staying here. Also Pam and Jim are the new owners or managers names and they are the worst!! read more

Disappointing. We stayed here in 2020, staying in our camper van. It was lovely and we thought our 6 year old grand daughter would love it. So we came back this year with our son, his wife and our grand daughter. This time we stayed in two "premium" cabins. Price $175/cabin/night. The grounds are kept up and clean. Our cabin? TV didn't work, bed so hard we spent the second night in our van and worst of all, the water stunk of rotten eggs. Strainer in sink also broken so sink wouldn't drain properly. TV not working was no big deal - we don't go camping to watch TV. Drain eventually drained. We knew how hard these beds can be, so no surprise there or complaints there. But the water smelled so badly that we couldn't shower. Foul smelling water occurs when mineral-rich water creates a s gas within an electric hot water heater. The heaters have a sacrificial rod (usually magnesium) inside that erodes but offsets the smell. When it occurs, the rods need to be replaced. This was the case in both cabins we rented. We're sure they knew about it - it had to have been occurring for weeks at that level of stink. New management apparently doesn't want to spend the money. Did we complain? Why bother? When I mentioned the TV issue with the staff I was told "It worked before". I'm sure it did, once. But I'm paying now. No suggestion that she would send anyone to look at it. The grounds are nice and the staff is pleasant. But the water issue was significant and we will not stay there again. read more

Under new owners and it is much improved . Rest rooms and showers were clean . Pool was kept clean . The cg rules just right for family camping and are better enforced . Just a better overall camping experience now . Only drawback is the amount of tent sites but they don't seem to allow the huge groups and over crowded sites like before . This place was ok didn't like the fact that there was no sewer sites, but that's no to big of a deal. The lots were all grass, uneven and overgrown. Someone should invest in a lawn mower. My site was maple 15 and when i informed the office that it needed to be cut, she informed me that it was a seasonal site and the owner needed to cut it. I offered to run home and bring my tractor up for a nominal 50 dollar fee to cut it. she wasn't amused. there was an odor like rotten eggs . also being along the highway didn't really either., I'm sure if we had a seasonal site along 46 after awhile the noise would be nothing..... some of the seasonal sites were absolutely beautiful. The owners of the sites really did a great job in their place however some were very dumpy and just not great to look at, it brought the curb appeal down a bit. I though most of the office staff as bitter and upset that they were working there. My opinion was that it seemed liked they were doing me a favor by letting me stay there read more

We stayed as a group of 7 families the weekend of July 22, 2022. First note, and only complaint - there is NO INTERNET SERVICE for Verizon phones in the campground. You can get a signal up at the camp office/store, but it's very spotty. When leaving to head home, we could not get onto WAZE to naviagte, until we were near I-80. 5 of us had RV's and the other 2 rented cabins. The RV spots were clean and easy to navigate for 1st time RV'ers. The cabins rented were Premium (Dogwood 13) and modern (Dogwood 26). Both cabins were very well kept and clean - the Premium had a full bath (shower), while the modern cabin had no running water and no bathroom, but it was located within quick walking distance to the public bathrooms. The Premium cabin had no oven or stove top, but we brought a griddle and stand along burner (to boil water) with us that worked out perfect for breakfast cooking. We also pre-cooked a lot of things at home and heated up in the microwave. There were no pans/pots/utensils in the cabins - just coffee maker, fridge, microwave and TV. You must bring whatever you need to cook. Also - bring a fan if you are renting a cabin - it helps to distribute the Air Conditioning around. Another note about the water at the campground - we found in both the RV's and the cabins - the water had the sulfur smell (rotten egg smell) - it seemed to dissapate the more you used the water or maybe we just got used to it. We actually had a fan in the cabin blowing the smell out the window for a period of time. The smell did not transfer to our bodies as we showered, but we used bottled water to brush our teeth and to make coffee/tea. There was not a huge selection for items you may have forgotten at the camp store, but there is a liquor/convenience store across the street from the campground which had a larger selection of items. There is also a small town with stores not too far away. There were a lot of permanent (seasonal) campers who were friendly. Lots of dogs - which we loved. Keep in mind there is no bike riding after dark, but we were able to drive the car around at all hours to get together at our friends sites. The staff is very nice, but strict and stern, with good reason, they have a lot of campers to take care of. We all did the rafting trip - Note: It's best to book the rafting trips before you arrive at the campground - call the office and have your paperwork/waivers done ahead of time. We had to break into 2 groups since they can only transport 26 people at a time. One group went at 11am, the other 12 noon - we met up on the side of the river to all go together. The camp staff handling the rafting trip were great! They got us all fitted for life vests and got us safely to the launch site and onto the rafts and tubes. When we got back to the campground on the river, they met us down at the ramp and took care of the rafts/tubes for us. The river ride took about 4 hours to do. The river had a nice flow in the beginning, but once we passed the iron bridge (one mile to go after this bridge), there was a short burst of fun/easy rapids, then the river seemed to go still. We had to paddle a lot to get back to the campground, with kids on tubes hooked up behind us, it was quite a workout. We loved every minute of our vacation at Delaware River Campground. read more

The staff was very nice. The campground looks nice but the sites are all on grass and not level. We have a 45 foot Motorhome and they said it would not be a problem they were wrong. They roads around the campground are to narrow the sites being all grass does not work as the leveling jack sink into the ground. I'm sure with a trailer that is 28 feet or longer would have a problem getting around on the roads as well. If you have a tent then this is your place but otherwise I would not go here I would find a different place. read more

TONS of mosquitos, cramped, lots of children and families. Seems like a traditional, annual, regulars-type family commune. Noisy and there's a strict "no outside firewood allowed" policy and the ones they sell at the campground couldn't stay lit without being doused with lighter fluid every few seconds. We did meet some nice Russians next door and they had good vodka that they shared. Aside from the vodka, this place really didnt appeal to us. There are many more campgrounds around this area if interested. read more

I would never go back to this place. They follow you around and harass you every chance they get. They yell at your kids for no reason and were so rude I don't know how they stay in business. It was creepy and those people were just nuts. Way overpriced, not accommodating and I think they feel like they can get away with treating people like garbage but it seems the camp was relatively empty to I have the feeling word is getting out about them. If you want to relax and enjoy yourself with tour family without being harassed by people who behave like they stepped off the set of Deliverence, I don't recommend this place. The campsites were all ontop of eachother. There was no privacy. Way overcrowded. We rented a trailer for 170/night and then they rented out the space infront of our trailer as a campsite for a tent. So everytime we wanted to hangout on the grass infront of our trailer, it was with other people and they were always outside because they only had a tent. For the amount we paid, I'd think we would get more privacy and landspace. read more

If you want to know what a prison sentence feels like, this is the place for you!! The staff is mean, degrading and discriminate against foreigners. They hide behind bushes at night and listen to make sure you're not loud! If your fire is burning after 12:30am they just come and pour water on it!! The Johnny-on-the-spot was dirty and disgusting, not cleaned at all throughout the weekend. I wouldn't throw my dog in their pool it was so dirty with hair and other debris. We wanted to rent a raft, got to the office earlier like they asked, and were told the guy already left!!! Half hour before the scheduled time!! Never ever again will I go back there. Awful place!!! We just spent a weekend at this camp and overall it was average camp. We stood in dog wood cabin. It was nice and clean, with a bathroom, and kitchenette. My three complaints about this place were that there was a 10 gallon limit of hot water. But , we didn't even get hot water, it was more like warm water. An egg odor came out every time we opened the water, it was awful. Then, the heat barely work, thank goodness, we had sweatshirts and blankets. We definitely had a camping experience! read more

We wanted a camping trip last minute and were told t just show up as when booking a 1 night stay they don't take reservations. When we arrived the ladies at the front acted all shocked and weird that we didn't have a reservation. When we finally paying for the cabin I mentioned the promo online for 25% off your stay in the fall. They told us that since we were only staying one night we couldn't receive this deal even though it didn't say anything like that online. Of all the rustic cabins we were the only ones there that cold rainy weekend and they wouldn't give us a discount?? They were lucky to have us and should of agreed. The "rustic" cabins are right next to the road and in cabin #1 you get the glow from the beer distributor signs across the street all night.. not a very rustic feel. The cabin is cute inside and well cleaned but the beds were AWFUL. The literally give you a gymnastics mat that is 10x harder then normal as a mattress. Ouch! This place kind of gives you that prison feeling. They have tons of rules; no campfire after 12:30 , if you wear a tshirt in the pool it can only be white?!? They nickle and dime you for everything even after charging you way to much for their cabins. Just not a very relaxing feeling. The biggest plus to this place is they have a good access point on the Deleware river. Other then that I was just very unimpressed. read more

We stayed at Delaware Family Campground because they offered cabins at a decent price, and had a mid week deal of buy two nights, and get one free. The campground is very nice, the tent sites are wooded and beautiful, and near the river. We were a little disappointed that the cabins were next to the road and all the community buildings (pool, camp store, and pavilion), so there were a lot of lights and noise. If you're looking for more of a quiet, nature camping, I would recommend tent camping at this campground. The camp store was well stocked and the prices were decent, however, we were a little taken aback that it seemed as though they charged for everything. The showers are coin operated, and you have to buy a $1 token to get back into the gated entrance if you return after 9 pm. They also had a rule that required campfires be out by 12:30 am. There is a liquor store and deli across the street and an A&P down the road a few miles, so it was convenient to get supplies we needed. My only real disappointment was when we went into the camp store to inquire about prices for rafting. The person helping us failed to tell us that there was a deal with the kids riding free on weekdays, which we had seen on the website. We went back and asked about the deal, and they agreed to let us have it. Kids are $26.95 each, so it was a savings for our family of four. The person who drove us out to the drop off site was very nice and helpful, and the rafting trip was enjoyable. Overall it was a decent campground, but we will most likely not return as there are many options in the area and our preference is a more natural setting. read more

Terrible customer service. Guest agents behind the desk came off very prejudice and forced me to remove my previous rating in order to get the service that we are guaranteed upon arrival. On top of that, the staff continuously harassed my family throughout our stay and made us feel very uncomfortable to be there. I would not recommend this campground. Rooms are very dirty and service is horrendous. None of their policy information is on any document or their website. They refused to provide contact information for any higher management. They are unwilling to help and accommodate customers who have been attending their camp for years and do not provide quality service. Terrible campground. read more

The staff was degrading and acted like you owe them something. The sites were small and they offer firewood at $2 a piece. And I mean 1 piece.there were dead fish all over the boat ramp. I've been to Delaware River Family Campground at least 10 times over the past ten years and I've enjoyed the experience every time. This is a privately owned campground on the Delaware River, nearby the Delaware Water Gap. There are many campsites right on the river. All campsites have trees for shade. Many sights have privacy. I usually stay mid week and it is completely quiet. They have a well equiped and reasonably priced camp store. The grounds include a volleyball court, an extremely decent swimming pool, decent bathroom/showers, an activity room and they offer rafts and boats for the river. The local area has hiking, gorgeous mountain roads for a nice drive, nearby stores for anything you might need and farmer's markets. Smitty's convenience/liquor store right across the street. Hot Dog Johnny's is a five minute ride on Rte 46. read more

I've been coming here for the past 10 years and have always loved it. We come down Friday and stay until Sunday and camp out in tents. The weekend is definitely a busy time to go but it has never effected our experience here. There is also an awesome farmers market down the road where we get some sweet corn to cook on the fire. read more

This place was an absolute dump! If you visit this place you will regret it, just like we did. I can't believe I took my family, my friend, and her family there, we will never go back. The toilets were always full of faces flowing out of the bowl excuse my language, I just want you to understand how bad it was. The women that was cleaning the toilets were always busy I saw her working hard, while the office have too many people doing nothing. I went in there a few times to buy stuff and the they are all having a good time laughing and having fun while the toilet is overflowing with shit. Do your self a favor go somewhere else or if all the other campsite are book out, stay home, it's what I should've done or lets just say I took one for the team. read more

This sucks, we got a cabin and you can't do shit, it has no ac and no shower and no toilet. The beds are uncomfortable and not to mention it rained the whole time. Don't even get me started on the staff, we've be banned 3 times and they always let us back in and they're just always dicks to everyone. The other campers are mostly nice and then there's always those assholes. The worst part of all this was the 4 hour, 4 mile river rafting we did. That shit was the most boring thing I've ever done in my life, I wanted to drown myself. Overall, don't go here, you're better off finding a place you don't have to pay for. read more

We don't camp here in the summer due to the fact that we are an older couple, and this campground is very popular in the middle of summer. But, when the kids go back to school, it is much quieter. Not that we don't like noise from children, we have a bunch of grandchildren. We just like it less crowded, when we go to the mountains to get away. A lot goes on in the fall around the campground; town-wide yard sales, Buttsville Flea Market, Fire Dept. Bonfire (across the street), Labor Day celebrations and more. There is a great Halloween party (DJ & lots of snacks), so if you do bring your kids or grand kids that weekend, they'll have a good time (check the activities calendar). Plus, the Fall colors in the mountains are really nice. The game room is clean, you can rent a canoe, tube, or kayak, the river is right there, a liquor store is across the road, and the camp workers are nice. Because we camp in the fall, I can't comment on the pool; it's usually closed then. The campsites are tight, but in the fall, that is not a factor. The small camp store has convenience items and firewood. Just a little bit down the road, is a vegetable stand. Go down the road a little more, and you'll find a diner or a hot dog stand. A new Quick Check opened in Buttsville, Rt. 46, across from the Flea Market. If you are looking for a good breakfast, I recommend Uncle Bucks, in Belvidere. With the amount of money they are charging and on top of that you need to pay for showers, they could afford a clean facility and upgrade the showers to allow you to have a stronger shower stream and water temperature you can control. read more

They charge for every little thing including a quarter for FIVE MINUTES of a shower! Even people with only tents were $45/night - same as big trailers with electricity and cable. Only wifi is in the pavilion. Actually left a day and half early because it was so terrible. read more

The people that work there are very rude and also there was poop in the pool for the past 2 years we've been coming there. Delaware River Family Campground is absolutely beautiful, but the many of the staff members were unfriendly and unprofessional. 1. Booking Our group consisted of 6 people, four women and two men, in our mid-twenties. Though the campground allows for up to 6 people per site (2 adults/4 children), we were hassled about wanting to add one more adult to each site. After discussing as a group, we made reservations through email approximately a month and a half in advance for three campsites on the river edge for two nights. However, the staff made a mistake and booked one of our sites for only one night. They didn't even notice the mistake; when we asked a question about our balance, they checked the system and realized they screwed up. Two of us had to pack all our belongings, collapse the tent, and clear out of the site. Honestly, how hard is it to transfer our booking information accurately? And frankly, why would we book two sites for 2 nights and one site for 1 night? This was extremely annoying, especially after they hassled us about our booking initially. 2. Site We stayed on site 28 and 29. Our riverside views were stunning. The individual sites were nicely spaced out and clean when we arrived. Each one had a fire ring and a picnic bench. We comfortable fit two cars, two tents, and our cooking setup with room to spare. The only bathroom was clean and had plenty of stalls, but the individual shower rooms on the side of the bathroom building were disgusting. Port-a-johns were conveniently placed around the campgrounds and were emptied daily, but the one near us was infested with spiders, so I doubt it was cleaned other than removing poop. The walk to the main bathroom wasn't so bad, even in the dark. 3. Service This was our biggest issue. We made two phone calls to the site prior to going, and one staff member was rude while another was polite. When we arrived, the staff was almost apathetic about us - they virtually ignored us during check-in other than asking us to "Sign here." They didn't confirm any of the details with us or explain any rules or where anything was located. We were handed a map and sent out the door. Most ridiculously, after THEY screwed up our booking, they were extremely discourteous. They accidentally booked one of our sites for only 1 night. Instead of apologizing to us, they immediately blamed us and said, "Well, you should have checked the email you got." They told us we would have to move immediately because they had another group on the way. We were not offered another site. The manager came over and proceeded to speak about us as though we weren't there to the other staff members. Even then, we tried to be respectful of their rules as a family campground, and we offered to split up the two displaced people, adding one to each of our other sites. They agreed, but they still charged us $24 for the night at their overnight guest rates. To us, that was ridiculous, the epitome of poor service. Not only were we seriously inconvenienced, but we were spoken to (and about) rudely and made to literally pay for their mistake. Totally unacceptable. 4. Canoes/Kayaking/Tubing We brought our own kayaks and heard conflicting information from the staff about whether or not we could use them. We did it anyway and had tons of fun on the Delaware River. Overall, though the actual place was beautiful, we will not return because of the poor customer service. read more

We've been rafting on the Delaware for five years. We chose this place because it was close. We went with friends who brought a five year old and four year old. We have two teenagers. They packed a twelve person van with sixteen people. Not enough to have seatbelts for alll. They ignored our objections and just kept piling people in. Literally did not acknowledge that we were speaking to them. Awful. Will not go back. read more

I have camped at Delaware River Family Campground for many years and have experienced it evolving into a family campground where families can enjoy the outdoors while being close to metropolitan NY and NJ. Management has made a lot of changes to assure the safety of all campers while offering many activities including river rafting, canoeing or tubing, swimming pool, crafts for the younger campers and Saturday night entertainment.Over the years campsites have become more secluded in the tent area offering privacy. Security patrols assure that loud music and other noise is discouraged during the quiet hours. Very often first time campers do not realize how far noise travels. The convenient location, long camping season and reasonable fees mean I will return next year. read more
