I arrived around 2:20 p.m. and was let in by a worker at the front door, who told me they were closing shortly and suggested I head to the deli first if that was what I wanted. Once I walked in, however, a cashier yelled to me that they were closed. I was a little confused because I had just been let in by a worker who knew I was coming inside. From there, the experience felt a bit chaotic. There were quite a few people in the store, and I felt like the workers were very displeased by my presence. I honestly felt like I was a bother. I completely understand that I arrived close to closing, so I tried to be respectful of their time and rushed through the store to grab a few items. I had driven an hour to get there, so I wanted to at least make the most of the trip. When I went to check out, I initially got in one line, and the cashier was finishing up with the customer already there and directed me to another line, so I followed her instructions. I had a basket with my items and wasn't sure if I was supposed to empty it myself. There wasn't an obvious place to leave the empty basket, and the cashier never indicated that she would take it from me. I apologized and explained that it was my first time there. She told me that next time I should come during the week so I could browse more. As I was leaving, I noticed so many people trying to enter the store and being turned away because it was now past closing. That made me think Mazzaro's may want to reconsider its Saturday hours. They are clearly a very popular and well-known store, yet being open from only 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and being closed on Sundays makes it difficult for people who work typical Monday-Friday, full-time hours to visit. I take responsibility for not checking the hours before making the drive, and I understand that the employees were probably ready to go home. However, I still think there is a difference between enforcing closing time and making a customer feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, I did not feel warmly greeted or welcomed during my visit, and it put a damper on the entire experience.

Like a lot of people, I've driven past Side Door Deli plenty of times, noticed the signage, and…read morethought, I need to check that place out. I'm a sucker for a good NY-style deli, so I finally made the trip. It's a little out of my way from the south side, but I'm glad I made the effort. Side Door Deli is tucked into an office complex, which sounds a little strange for a deli, but once you're inside, you'd never know it. The place is clean, comfortable, and has none of that "office building restaurant" feeling. I went with the Reuben, getting both corned beef and pastrami on marbled rye. Naturally, I paired it with a Dr. Brown's root beer. The sandwich was good, although I thought they were a little light on the meat. The meat is Boar's Head, so don't expect the kind of enormous, overstuffed deli sandwich you might get at some old-school New York joints. They have a pretty impressive selection of sides, and everything is made in-house. I went with the macaroni salad, which surprisingly had carrots in it. Not exactly what I was expecting in my macaroni salad, but it actually worked and was pretty darn good. The service was excellent. Everyone was extremely friendly, and the proprietor even came by personally to check on me and make sure everything was OK. He asked if it was my first time visiting, and he gave me my drink "on the house". That kind of personal attention goes a long way. A couple of things to know before you make the trip: they're closed Sundays and close at 3 PM during the week, so this is definitely more of a lunch spot than somewhere you're going to grab dinner, but they do serve breakfast in the mornings, so keep that in mind. Overall, Side Door Deli is a good little neighborhood deli that's worth checking out if you're in the area. I'd like to make it back and try some of their other sandwiches and sides. Good food, friendly people, clean spot. Just get there before 3.

Date of Visit: 03/112026 1:30pm…read more I have driven by this place dozens of times and just didn't take the time to stop because it was the weekend. On this day (Wednesday) I found myself working from home and said to my self, "Self, today we eat at the Side Door Deli". As I pulled in from Central I could see the lot was busy but spots were available. I believe I entered thru the front door, but as I looked the place over I could see "The Side Door". My order for today was to go and a nice lady was there ready to take it. I looked the menu over and decided on the "Kevin" a corned beef, lettuce and tomato club with Russian dressing. I had a slice of cheese on mine. With it I got the potato salad. Under $14 with a 12oz drink. Having only a short wait, I received my order and made my way home, could not wait. I have been waiting a long time to find this type of deli / luncheonette place to eat. Opening the box it came in, it was put together right. I first hit the potato salad first and it was awesome. Just the right amount zing. Now it's Kevin's turn...Wow, this is my new go place for a club. I wasn't sure if I wanted it toasted or not and the nice lady taking my order said,"lightly". I says yes. Next time full toast. I totally recommend this place, won't be disappointed. And I do see they are open on Saturdays. Breakfast? Peace.

We walked over here with our pups and sat outside on the side walk. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, giving them water and a dog menu. We quickly ordered some drinks and the coke was crisp and fresh! Top tier, in my opinion. We were undecided between ordering breakfast or lunch but once she spouted off the specials - we were hooked. We ordered the pride bagel sandwich and I'm still thinking about how delicious it is. We also ordered the biscuits and gravy which my husband polished off. We even got a little turkey sausage for the pooches as a reward for behaving! I love this place and will definitely recommend it to those in the area.

When we visited, it was very busy and buzzing, but the service never missed a beat. Our server was friendly, on top of her game and offered helpful recommendations. Despite the crowd, our food arrived in a timely manner and hot. My husband ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly-when you cut into them, the yolk oozed out exactly the way a perfectly poached egg should. That said, he felt there wan't quite enough hollandaise sauce, and the sauce leaned a little too lemony for his taste. The English muffin also could have been toasted a bit more. The hash browns, however, were the star of the dish-perfectly crisp and well seasoned. I went with the Key West BLT with blackened mahi-mahi, served on a toasted sourdough with garlic aioli. The fish was blackened perfectly-well seasoned with lots of flavor-and paired nicely with the sandwich. I originally planned to order the house chips, but they were not available. Our server recommended the French fries instead because of their unique shape, and she was right-they were crispy and nicely seasoned. Most of the seating is outdoors under umbrellas, which adds to the laid-back Florida vibe. Overall, this is a lively neighborhood spot that feels full of locals who clearly love coming here. We'll be back to try more dishes.
