This is definitely a place to come with at least four people so you can try a bunch of dishes. I would honestly be sad to come here just as a couple because then you don't get to try as many of the amazing dishes Elliott Astor has to offer. We started with the pull apart Bread that is absolutely a must get and delicious. The one thing is, it is quite large, so it is a good size for 4 to 5 people, it would be a bit overwhelming for only two hence why I say come with a group. We also got the chopped salad, which I thought was good, but not great. People rave about the Caesar salad, which last time I found to be just OK, but I would probably get the Caesar over the chopped. That's a personal preference. Then we got the vodka pasta and the black truffle gnocchi. The vodka pasta, again, is an absolute must get. I love Housemade pasta, and this one is cooked perfectly. The vodka sauce isn't spicy, and I hate spice. So this is one of my favorite dishes. I didn't like the gnocchi. I found it to be too cheesy and not pillowy enough. I appreciate the black truffles, but this is one that I would skip in the future. Then we got the dry aged prime strip, with broccolini, Yukon, mashed potato, and mushrooms. The mushrooms are still, my absolute favorite, I would absolutely get it every time. Yukon potatoes were delicious, but I could feel my arteries clogging while I ate it. It was so creamy and so buttery. The broccoli was good, but not something that I feel like I have to get. The steak was amazing. We got it medium rare, and I felt like it was cooked perfectly. I loved it. For dessert I got the amaretto cookie gelato. If you don't eat pork, all the desserts other than gelato and sorbet have a pork stabilizer in it, which is disappointing. The gelato was quite good though. For my drink, I got the Mezcal margarita I had last time. It is no longer in the menu. It was just OK this time, it would've been better with the salt rim, but it came without one. Next time I'll try another drink on their menu. Valet is $15 which is great because I've come here for the spa and parking is much more expensive if you're not going to Elliot Asher. This restaurant is beautiful and service is superb. Dinner will take a couple hours and Reservations do fill up so you should book them early. I would definitely recommend coming to eat here if you're looking for a nice night out. read more

Elliott Aster at the Vinoy is such a vibe. The moment you walk into the lobby, that gorgeous floral arrangement and the warm, luxurious scent hit you -- it's stunning. Then you see the bar... dimly lit, and stretching all the way to the ceiling. Absolutely breathtaking. There were eleven of us girls dressed in black celebrating a birthday, and we started the night at the bar with drinks and photos before dinner. The staff sat us at the perfect long table, and Andrew and Brian took amazing care of us all evening. We shared the Focaccia Pull Apart -- warm, slightly sweet, cheesy, and honestly addictive. The Burrata with peaches, pickled mustard seeds, and pistachio was bright and fresh, and the beef tartare was another favorite. For dinner, I had the scallops, which were huge and roasted perfectly with citrus, cauliflower, and brown butter. Some of the girls shared the Radiatore alla Vodka, and that sauce was chef's kiss -- flavorful and so satisfying. But let me tell you... The Parmesan Fries with Black Truffle Aioli? I'm going back JUST for those. Cocktails were on point -- the girls loved the Elliott Aster Martini with its citrus kiss, and I had the mezcal espresso martini and the Summer Haze. What an excellent first experience at Elliott Aster! We went for my birthday after hearing great reviews and it really hit the mark. The service and ambience were exceptional. This place has been on my list for awhile! The inside of this restaurant is stunning. Beautiful and sleek, such a cool design of the bar and the dining area! We started with the Burrata which was pretty good with the strawberries. It only came with a little toast so we did have to ask for another serving. This review is specifically for DESSERT, because WOW. My friends and I wanted a little nightcap so we stopped in and got seated quickly. It is ALWAYS a good practice to ask the server for dessert recs because odds are, they're going to suggest something you'd never consider and thank goodness she did. She suggested the Pistachio Ricotta Torta and the amaretto cookie gelato, so we got both of those as well as some chocolate gelato. I am not typically an amaretto girlie, but that gelato was arguably the best I've ever had. Never had anything like it before, truly phenomenal. The chocolate was great too, really some of the better gelato I've had, but that amaretto cookie flavor with the little cookie pieces... truly DIABOLICAL!!!! For our entrees, we went with the Prime Ribeye and Squid Ink Chitarra. The steak was cooked to perfection and the pasta tasted so fresh! Absolutely loved everything we ordered. Aside from the food, the drinks, the decor, the ambiance -- everything is just to die for. The only thing to note is that, while you're waiting for your table and its busy, there's not really anywhere to wait. He said the one here is different from anywhere else I've ever been and boy oh boy was he right. The Caesar salad here is neck and neck with Jay Luigi for best Caesar salad in all of Tampa Bay. I freaking loved it and would seriously go here again and just order double Caesar salads and that's it. It's really that good. I also had the $23 Burrata and it was great too. It's a beautiful room and great service but I expected more from the food. We started out with a bang with the pull apart bread and crudo. However I was not a fan of the Sea Bream fish which was supposed to be similar to Branzino. I'm not a fan of fish skin so I had to flip it over to the non skin side which then made it hard to eat the salad on top. Branzino is a lighter tasting and flakier fish. The maitake mushrooms, as a side, also didn't have the taste I was hoping for. The atmosphere was delightful and again the service was excellent. Pros and Cons! Pros: The restaurant is beautiful, the potato puree is amazing, the steak was great, the artichoke dip was some of the best I've had. Cons: I wasn't too big of the Caesar salad. The croutons were very chewy (maybe that's how they are supposed to be?) but also they put little crumbles throughout the salad so it had little crunches that I wasn't expecting and wasn't a fan of. The espresso martinis were good but definitely more espresso than anything. The service was slow and we couldn't find the waitress at times. It was just a "meh" for me. This review is specific to the brunch experience - I haven't tried the dinner experience. I've been coming to the space for a couple decades, and I was excited when they announced a new concept for it. The renovation is nice, and I was excited to try. When the appetizers came, they were both good (burrata and sesame carrot dip). I was excited for the entrees but deeply disappointed when we got them. The steak in the steak frites was the worse cut of steak I've had in years (tough and gristle filled) and the grouper sandwich was just not good. I completely agree with the previous review regarding Elliot Astor. Specifically the dress code, or as they say, lack thereof. You could hardly call yourself a Michelin level restaurant when you allow T-shirts, cut off shorts, even gym shorts into your restaurant. Not to mention baseball caps on gentlemen. Come on, really. Here we were the other night, four of us, all well dressed, one of the men in coat and tie, the other sports blazer. Looking up upon the room, saw flip-flops, one pair of gym shorts and one disgusting shirt on a man two sizes too small. Figure out what kind of restaurant you want to be. For my mother's birthday I wanted to take her somewhere that was upscale and delivered on flavor. I am so glad I chose Elliot Aster. I had previously experienced the lounge area for food and drink, but the full dining experience was even more exceptional. To start, the honey ricotta was creamy, sweet and the crackers that came with it were peppery, crunchy and flavorful. Our entrees were delicious. My beef cheek tortelli sat in a butter/balsamic sauce that complimented the tenderness of the beef cheek so well. The parmesan cheese was rich and the tortelli was perfectly al dente. My mother loved her eggplant lasagna- I had a couple bites and the red sauce was so fresh- the vegetables shined in the dish- a great melody of vegetables and spice, there was a good harmony there. Our waiter, Jonathan O., who was extremely professional and kind, was really knowledgable about the menu, which helped elevate the experience. He knew it was my mom's birthday, and he brought us out a birthday cake gelato to celebrate. The gelato was smooth, creamy and had generous amounts of birthday cake cemented in the dessert. I needed to wait a few days to write this review in order to ensure objectivity and not reactivity. For context, we have experience dining globally, Michelin, Zagat, James Beard, etc. and salt of the earth mom and pop so it's not they we don't adjust our expectations accordingly. Subsequently, with the pedigree of the chef and restaurant group, we came in with what we thought were realistic expectations. First, everyone was lovely, however grossly under-trained for that level of fine dining. I.e, ordered a Ceaser salad and had to ask for ground pepper, when the server brought one over she put it on the table and said "this is a pepper grinder" and left. It was a non-traditional one so one would have to be familiar with it's unique function. No linen table clothes and the crumbs were wiped directly onto the floor. The acoustics were atrocious yet everyone whispered. There's no way older people could here if we couldn't. When asking the server about the "Bolognese" , my husband asked what was in it and she said "meat"... what kind? we were met with "meat" again. Portions were egregiously small (octopus although outstanding) for the price ($27 for not even a whole tentacle! That's just trying to cheat your customer.). The beef cheek tortellini was way too al dente and looked like I tried to make it and ended up with a pierogi. If I can count how many there were at a glance (6) for an entree, that was not a dinner portion (again, flavor and texture of filling was excellent). Dessert (chocolate cake) tasted straight from Sysco and if it wasn't, then you need a new pastry chef. It's been our experience that fine dining is Florida is largely feral (with the exception of Naples), we just have to stop trying and stick to the rustic mom and pops. I gladly spend my money in the community, not chains, but I don't think it's fair nor reasonable to leave feeling there's been a materially significant inequity between experience and value regardless of the tier of dining. read more

Room for improvement but a solid evening. I booked Elliott Aster for my husband's birthday and even though I booked weeks in advance I could only get a 8:30 reservation so expectations were high. First the restaurant is so beautiful! Whoever did the decor deserves an award. It is a very moody, romantic, chic vibe and attention to every detail was made. We were early so we started in the bar to wait for our table. Server was okay- didn't really want to help with recommendations and not exactly friendly but wasn't rude. When we were seated we kind of had the same experience with the server and the assistant - not rude just not welcoming. Both of our meals were average (I had the pasta). My dish was very over salted to the point it was difficult to eat. Neither asked us how our meals were. They never acknowledged my husband's birthday (which was fine but they ask if you are celebrating anything). We weren't asked if we wanted dessert. So the experience wasn't actually up to the hype. We did end up having a beautiful evening because the atmosphere was lovely. We are local to the area so will try again when they have a little more time to fix things. read more

We first started with the daily salumi board, which came with a variety of meats, jam, and peppers. Seriously the best charcuterie I've ever had. The pull-apart focaccia was really good too, just a little on the dry side but still flavorful. For our main dishes, we shared the beef cheek tortellini, meatballs, squid ink lumache, octopus, grilled rack of lamb, and the chopped salad. The salad was covered in cheese, so it looked like a huge cheese mountain lol. Everything was so well-executed and delicious. The lamb especially was perfectly grilled (not super flavorful). Dessert was next-level. The olive oil torta with mascarpone topping was incredible, and the salted caramel & coffee budino might be the lightest, most delicious dessert I've ever had. They even brought us a scoop of pistachio ice cream on the house.I'm not usually a pistachio person, but I genuinely enjoyed it. Service was great, the vibe was fun but still elevated, and we left already talking about coming back. Highly recommend this spot. read more

Service was fantastic and the food was delicious. We started with the burrata which was unique and had hazelnuts. Eggs in purgatory and the French toast were stellar. We also tried the pop tart and donut. The restaurant is beautiful and very chic. read more
