It is a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and cute simple decor that has a communal feel. The specials menu had some fun and exciting choices for st Patrick's day! There was also a listing for blueberry pierogies which we decided we just had to try. I think the concept is exciting and new- but the inside of the pierogies were only blueberries which weren't very sweet. We thought it could be even better with the addition of a sweetened ricotta, cream cheese, or mascarpone inside to compliment the berries. There was a drizzle of some kind of icing which was tasty and went well but there wasn't enough of it. We ordered our meals from their regular menu. They must have polish roots because pierogies and kielbasa show up on the menu a few times. I saw "pierogie omelet" and was sold. You can tell their pierogies are freshly made and it makes all the difference. I probably wouldn't get the omelet again because it was kind of a lot happening at once, however, next time I go I think I definitely would like to get the pierogi platter they offer because I enjoyed the kielbasa and pierogies so much. My sister got a strawberry arugula salad with crispy chicken. I did not try it but I tried a piece of chicken and it was deliciously crisp. She said everything was really good and the strawberries were perfect and ripe. My mom, who got the protein pancake with fruit on side agreed. My other sister got a tuna wrap which she also enjoyed. I also like that they do a 1/2 tea 1/2 lemonade with your choice of flavor. I got the raspberry and it was delicious - not too sweet but the flavor was there. Our waitress was a gem and we never felt rushed.

The food here is reasonably priced and made fresh to order. My usual orders are either an omelette with a side of hashbrowns, or an egg and cheese sandwich on a roll. My coworkers also order here regularly for lunch, and they always love their meals no matter what they get. Really, everything here tastes good. You can't go wrong! The interior is small, and there are a couple tables for eat-in. There's a lottery machine. Marco's also sells a variety of prepackaged chips, snacks, and bottled beverages, as well as fresh coffee. As a first timer, I asked the older guy, who was extremely friendly for the house special sub. He quickly responded "a Number 12," and proceeded to make me Mike's most popular sandwich. I was in the mood for an overstuffed Italian Sub. What I got was much closer to a "hum drum" Ham n' Cheese! What can I say? Everything about the #12 Special was ... well, ordinary bordering on bland. Tasteless, albeit fresh but slightly spongy Italian bread. Fresh sliced, fresh tasting ham; a couple of slices of salami; and a thin layer of provolone. The garnish consisted of a handful of hopefully-not-from Taylor Farms lettuce, 3-4 razor thin tomato slices & a few onion shards. There you have it. Mike's #12! Next time I'm looking for a "nothing Special," I won't have to drive that far. There's a real "Jersey Mike's" 2 miles from my house!

11/11/25 - Nice to have my daughter home for a holiday. So that can only mean one thing.... pizza…read morelunch! Today I visited Sandy's Luncheonette and Pizza in East Brunswick, NJ. I visited Sandy's years back when it was a little hole in the wall pizza shop. They have redone the entire inside and have much more than just plain slices in the showcase. I ordered a plain slice and a buffalo slice. The plain slice was pretty flavorless. It's definitely a thin slice pie. The cheese is premium and the cheese flavor overpowers the sauce and the crust. The sauce has very little flavor and it's largely because they appear to not use any Italian seasonings. The outer crust and undercarriage is crunchy but a little on the dry side. The sauce is skimpy which doesn't help with overall dry texture. The slice is definitely firm and crispy so it stands up and there's no toppings sliding off at all. The buffalo slice is a much better experience than the plain. There is an abundance of chicken, cheese, blue cheese sauce and buffalo sauce. This slice is also very thick and hearty. The outer crust is crispy but even more dry than the plain. This makes sense because when you make a pie this thick, you definitely have to cook it longer. I would say that they probably use too much blue cheese sauce and too much buffalo sauce but some would consider that nitpicking. I think a great deal of the problems here is the vastness of menu choices. The menu is comparable to diner menu. They literally have hundreds of choices. When you do that, you can probably do a lot of things well, but none exceptionally well. They even advertise on their menu that they offer all day breakfast! If they want to be considered a true leader in the local pizzeria realm, they are going to need to cut down on what's offered and focus on making great pies. Until then, they are an also-ran. Overall Rating: C+
