Not totally sure why the rating for this spot is only 3.7. The sandwiches we had here were delicious. They really hit the spot! I love a deli shop that gives authentic deli shop vibes and I would say this place definitely gives those. There is a small area for seating inside if you plan on eating your sandwich right away. 10/10 recommend eating as soon as you get your order. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken and Rasta Philly. I thought the Buffalo Chicken was very tasty and my boyfriend very much enjoyed his. However, the Rasta Philly...holy shizzz. Thinking about it is making my mouth water. The bread was so perfect. It soaked up all the juices. It was cheesy, flavorful, and so so so yummy. I don't know what the Rasta sauce is exactly, but it is delightful. If you haven't tried a sandwich here, you should definitely give it a go! read more

David and Will are absolute GOATs. Deli Zone already had great subs, but those two make the place stand out. They're fast, friendly, and actually make you feel welcome the second you walk in. The food is always fresh, loaded, and way better than your average sandwich shop. You can tell they care about doing things right. Ordered an Italian cold sub to go today, no onions. It came slathered with mayo in addition to the oil and vinegar. The sub is not supposed to have mayo on it, according to the menu. So, so gross. I couldn't eat it; threw it out. Very disappointed! And hungry since that would have been my lunch. read more

Small place with a few tables - but you are not here for ambiance. It's all about the food. Bread was fresh - plenty of meat and fillings. Just a lil too much mustard. This is the original location of the Deli Zone and still the best. Overseen by the Original Owner Ed O'Conner it is really a fabulous place for breakfast sandwiches and excellent deli sandwiches etc. it's a small little place that feels like where a great idea like this gets started. Lots of NY memorabilia open kitchen prep area. I take these sandwiches all over the state and my customers love them and look forward to lunch appointments! It's always been great. Wow, the sandwiches in this place are freaking delicious way better than your everyday corporate chain restaurants. They are very busy during lunch and at this location seating is very limited so be prepared to take it somewhere else. But you will not be disappointed. When it comes to massive hearty sandwiches, this is the best place in town, and compared to other Deli Zones this one is worth driving too if you aren't local. I am a fairly large person that can put away a lot of food, and the large sandwiches here will make me full and I usually have to take part of the sandwich home. My favorites are the Kong, Gangster, and Pastrami which the pastrami here is amazing and I always add it as extra to every sandwich that I get. For Delivery, they are pretty quick regardless of the time or day, and the food always arrives hot or cold as necessary. If they don't have something you ordered or need clarification they will take the time to call and ask instead of guessing and getting it wrong. If you stop in, the food is always prepared fresh right in front of you on the grill so you know what you're getting is cooked to order when you order it. The prices here I think are actually low for what you get, and I wouldn't mind paying another $2 for a sandwich from here, because they are truly large proportions. read more

My picked onions were sharp, and the cucumbers snapped with every mastication. I finished my large sandwich in six minutes, and I was so eager to do so I forgot to grab a pic of the sandwich itself before slaking my unholy hunger. I now have a policy of never reviewing a place on the first visit, there's too much to take in for a snap judgement. But after concluding my second visit and listening to the contented gurgles of my stomach as it welcomes pepper relish delivered at Mach 2, I can safely conclude that this is a place I'll be coming back to as long as I'm here. read more

While they offer traditional sandwiches, Deli Zone's strength lies in its specialty sandwiches. Get these wacky, tummy-pleasing creations: Queens Blvd (Turkey, cole slaw, provolone cheese, 1000 island dressing served on grill marble rye) Gazoo (Turkey breast, guacamole, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion & salsa) Manhattan (Turkey, provolone, artichoke hearts, garlic spread, lettuce, tomato & onion with pesto mayo) My ultimate favorite sandwich they actually took off the menu years ago, but a little batting of the lashes can sometimes still get the job done. It was called the Islander and had roast /corned beef, cole slaw, 1000 island dressing, and french fries all inside the sandwich. Tastebud rager! Butt-padder too, so its probably a good thing its not on the regular menu. They have really good N.Y. style breakfast sandwiches too. Deli Zone is a place I had always heard about only by reputation, and I decided to try it once. That was about 2 years ago, and now it is my go to breakfast spot. The workers are always so friendly, and have the best attitudes. They are extremely fast at making the food regardless of how busy it gets, and the quality never changes. Very good New York style subs. The bread tasted very fresh. All the cold cuts were good. The sandwiches are huge. We order small size and couldn't finish our sandwiches. I don't recall what everyone got but they were all good. I got the chef salad. It's a huge salad made with fresh cut romaine, a variety of veggies and a good amount of turkey, ham and cheese. I got the plain vinaigrette, which was very good. It was a very filling salad. It's not a fancy place but the food is very good. I will definitely return. Baby Kong breakfast sandwich with hash browns (inside) delivers (the grease) all day (in a good way). The opposite of eating right for the first meal of the day, but gives you enuff calories to head up I-70, or whatever else you have in store. Their rolls are basic, but fresh and good, and on the ligher side, the chicken salad is simple and tasty. Looks like I need to go back and try Amanda W.'s suggestions, though... Those finicky about overall cleanliness beware, this is an old-style down&dirty deli. And certainly don't go to the Longmont location - the Boulder County Health inspection rating for that branch is: UNACCEPTABLE. read more

Deli Zone is easily my favorite of the sub shops in Boulder. At any of the locations, they're pretty good, but the Valmont location trumps all others. On Mondays, the Valmont Deli Zone has fresh clam chowder flown in from Hyanisport, Massachusetts and on Fridays it has lobster chowder. Call ahead if you want some or get there early as it's usually gone by 2 PM. You may want to call anyway simply because it doesn't always come in. If they're out of chowder, don't fret, as Deli Zone has an excellent selection of great subs. With 5", 8" and 14" sizes, even the biggest appetites can be sated. They have a great reputation for their breakfast sandwiches (made all day, though they may run out of hash browns), especially the Kong. And their pastrami is the best in Boulder. In addition, all their meats can be grilled and their subs are toasted to perfection. The best part is how willing they are to customize things. My favorite sandwich, only available at the Valmont store, is the #1 Stunner. Lore has it that it was created for some football player who needed just that much more bang for their buck. I generally switch out the type of cheese, drop the mayo for something less mayo-like and add a bunch of veggies to this already jam-packed sub. If you're looking to eat healthy, this is definitely not where you want to go. The biggest downside to the Valmont location is the lack of seating. Unlike their other Boulder locations (on the Hill and by Broadway and Baseline) there's only a few tables lined up in this hole in the wall joint. They always have a copy of the Onion to read, so even if you're standing and grabbing it to go, it's not that bad. The guys who work there have been there for ages, unlike the other spots which have college students with heavy turnover switching in and out like prairie dogs. And the New York style decoration only takes you so far until you hear some of their sub technicians drop a New York accent. Though it's a Boulder based company, it truly has an East Coast feel I adore. read more

This is one of the better places to get a relatively authentic NY style sub. They started out as an independent shop and recently started franchising. I've eaten only at the Longmont, Boulder, and broomfield locations, and all were great. If any sub shop should expand, I say it should be this one, as it's really hard to find a good NY style sub around. Heidi's claims to be the Brooklyn deli around this area, and while they're also a good place to eat, they aren't as authentic as Deli Zone in my opinion. Locally owned and operated by some real cool people, so that's a plus! The only place I like more is Snarffs! read more

Who substitutes ketchup for marinara and thinks it's acceptable!?!?! Nasty. My eggplant parm was rubbery, not breaded and crispy, and the marinara may have been ketchup. So gross. Another pet peeve of mine: It was FREEZING in there. My friend and I kept our down coats on to eat. I know it is hot to be cooking and serving food, but a restaurant should be kept comfortable for the customers, not the staff. Also I think they only have white bread. Snarf's, with their stoned-out-of-their-heads-teenage staff, is WAY better. read more

Solid deli with a cozy little kitchen at this location. The chain restaurant has about 9-10 locations. Seats here are limited and the waiting is cramped but it's in an office suite after all. I think the sandwiches are definitely worth edging in to find a place and wait for your order. I had the french dip and everything was exactly how I like and expected it to be. The atmosphere is usually fast and exciting like you'd find in a bigger city like L.A. or N.Y. You order toward the back counter and pay at the door on your way out. Alright, I grew up in the NJ/NYC area so I can say with confidence I know my delis. I also know chicken parm. Went to Deli Zone today which sells itself as an NYC deli and I saw on the menu "Chicken Cutlet Parmesan" and I think to myself that sounds awesome!! Open sandwich to eat it annnnd it has chicken but farthest from a cutlet, i.e. no breading. That sauce and cheese were great but please make it an actual chicken cutlet!! It would be ah-mazing! I came here for a lunch a few weeks ago. I ordered the Guiliani and waited over 20 min to get it. They were fairly busy, but not packed by any means. The main problem was they didn't have enough people working and the oven is too small. They toast almost all of their subs, but it didn't seem like it could hold too many at one time and it caused a big back up. Also, the guys working seemed a bit frazled by the amount of orders and it looked unorganized for a bit. They got it under control though and I finally got my sub. The experience quickly improved from that point on as the food was delicious. I would for sure eat there again if it wasn't busy. read more

They usually taken at least an hour to get here and there are only 10 minutes away. but they do seem to usually follow instructions for substitutions, etc. I don't recommend the pastrami meat it's very rubbery not good quality hash browns were quite dry. I find it a shame that they don't have good quality cheeses, just cheap American cheese. the bread was okay though. I wouldn't come again unless desperate.. read more
