Normally when I am visiting I pick a couple of dozen from here to take back, this time got a dozen pork, pork in green salsa and bean and cheese with jalapeños. These tamales are smaller than normal, and really loaded with lard you can taste it, the grease was oozing out of the packing, I guess once in a while they are not bad, but I am sure they help clog the arteries, I prefer regular sized tamales with less fat and more filling. read more

Tamales here are amazing Chicken & green sauce were just the right amount of spicy They come in little foil packets that you think you'll crush in two minutes but they are really filling. Extremely disappointed! Not by the food but by the customer service. Was visiting family in Laredo Texas and decided before leaving back to Houston I'd have to go by and get some tamales. Upon walking in they were following Covid guidelines and checking temperatures but they were only allowing one person per vehicle inside. Which is very confusing as there were numerous people inside the building already & coming in behind me, so what difference does it make to have two people from one vehicle and go inside. I went to the counter and never actually ordering from the facility before I was reviewing the menu trying to decide what I was going to pick. Numerous times the young man behind the counter and a gentleman whom appeared to be the manager kept asking "what I was going to order what I was going to order." I felt very rushed which was making my decision making even more difficult. I Finally decided and as I was ordering the gentleman asked me very rudely to make sure I did not come out of the plexiglass. Mind you, were both wearing masks. And they also grabbed my food. I made payment and the Gentlemen who appeared to be the manager put my food in the counter and pushed it towards me. I grab my bag and as I turn around the manager raised his voice and said "excuse me sir exit is that way" Mind you there's no signs directing anyone in there and his tone was just not the most pleasant. I get we're all dealing with a pandemic and we're all frustrated but being in customer service if you don't have customer service skills you have no business being there. It is not what you say or do it's how you say and do it. Please believe I will never go back.Customer service is an absolute must, I do have to say they're lacking in that department. read more

OMG, JUST GO! These are by far the best tamales I've ever had in a restaurant! I only wish they'd open a resturant in Indianapolis, Indiana so I could have their tamales whenever. That first bite was phenomenal and memorable when the maza melts in your mouth then the spices and meat flavors explode into one heavenly experience. My sister, who lives in McAllen, reminded me I never cared for tamales until I had good quality tamales. I still remember the first truly homemade Christmas tamales a dear friend, Linda, shared with me from her Mother's kitchen after 18 hrs of meat & rolling preparation. They are now my measuring stick for all tamales. Delia's is spot on and now I know you can find perfect restaurant tamales. Thank you Maurissa for bringing me to Delia's for my first time. What a great niece! The restaurant is clean, bright, staffed with friendly employees, some with limited English but always someone who can help for non Español folks. The condiment bar has a variety of delicious salsa and sides complimenting the tamales. To go containers are directly beside for your to go orders. You can't purchase a single tamale but who would want to as delicious as these are. Purchase by 1/2 dozen or a full dozen is perfect for the size and you can always warm them up if 6 is more than one meal for an you. I loved the spicy pork and following a very close second was the chicken and cheese tamales. Even if you think you don't like tamales, stop, go in and give these a try. The best tamales I ever had from a business establishment. Unfortunately I don't live in Texas . I was more than willing to pay the shipping & handling when the prices were reasonable. I ordered 6 dozen online and the shipping and handling was more than the cost of the food. Granted they did pack it in dry ice. Over 50 dollars in shipping cost. This was before the online prices sky rocketed. It arrived melted and soggy. Tossed them in the freezer right away reheated using the steam method and they was still delicious. I guess because of people like me they decided to make the process outrageous for online orders. Supply and demand. Most places have only went up a dollar in prices but not this place. Definitely not worth it anymore. I'd rather eat the frozen ones out the grocery store than pay these prices. It seems like in store is still fair after reviewing the menu but not online. Definitely taking advantage of the higher classes. If I wasn't broke I would buy them all day. read more

Sitting in my hotel after work in this small city, I am thinking I gotta try some Mexican food since I am right at the border. Found this place and knew it was a must try given the reviews and the fact I have this special place in my heart for tamales. I've had some fairly good tamales in the big cities on both the east and west coast, but man.... this tamale was on another level. Tamale: What makes a tamale good in my opinion, moist and flavorful masa, moist and flavor packed meat. Delia's excels at both of these. The masa is sooo moist and soft when you bite into it. Then the flavors of the masa rush onto your tongue. It had the right amount of salt in it and I believe there were some mexican spices they put in the masa as well. I was a bit surprised on how much flavor they put into it but it was on point! I ordered the pork and chicken tamales and both were fantastic. The pork and chicken are cooked with a sauce inside the tamale. The mexican spices and sauce gave a nice kick, but you can also taste the amazing natural flavors of the meats as well. Like the masa, the meats were moist. I was hesitant with the chicken as white meat is usually dry at most places.... but man was that chicken a soft and melt in your mouth kind of experience. Cost: There's a minimum order, but a buck per tamale. Won't go broke eating here! I was in McAllen for the week and ate at Delia's 3 of the 5 days I was there. If I lived here.... I think I'd still eat it 3 days every week. It's that good! read more

I placed a 15 Doz order a week Pryor. 5 beef ,5 beans and cheese , 5 chicken. Pickup time on Thursday at 2:00pm . Got ther on time , but order wasn't ready . Order got handed to me at 7:00pm . I noticed that only the chicken packages were open . Didn't think much ov it . We fridged all ov them. Next day ,I ate 3 ov them . Tasted a bit funny (chicken) . 6 hours later I got sick to my stomach and had diarrhea. Called them to let them know . I was told that I couldn't bring them back . No refunds and no exchanges. Called main branch in Pharr, and was told that they would call me back . Never got call back either . I was told by my sister that the chicken tamales were old and reheated . They messed up the order and reheated old tamales to complete order , that's why it took 5 hours to get order out to me . Has anyone ever had this happen to them ? Zesty, affordable food that tastes just as good cold the next morning as it does hot out of the bag. Quite impressed by the flavors & spices that uplift your typical tamale into a special stratosphere. I tried the spicy chicken and pork veracruzano. Absolutely THE BEST tamales, have eaten them for years, always fresh, hot and delicious! The green sauce is unique and wonderful with a good kick of heat. My favorite are the cream cheese and Jalapeño and the Sweet corn. The chicken and cheese come in a close third. You can't go wrong at Delia's Try the Menudo.
