So I just got back home to the valley and I asked people for some good tacos. I was sent here. Not gonna lie, it was hyped up to be more than what it is. It's not that cheap and it's not that good. I had a normal order of bistek tacos and a coke. The grilled onions were really the saving grace because the tortilla was dry as my scalp. The meat is okay, not the best. I always seem to give this place a try every few months, I wanna like it but the food always disappoints. I left thinking to myself why I stopped here when I could've just gone to "Don Felipe" right next door. I had the order of five tacos, went with two of Trompo meat and three of bistek. The Trompo lacked flavor big time, the small amount of salsa and lime I added completely overpowered the taco, no good. The bistek was simply ok. The tortilla was super crunchy, tasted more like a tostada, had round burnt marks throughout. Salsas were average nothing spectacular. I prefer to get my loaded baked potato before the tacos, appetizer I guess and here they always bring it at the same time as the rest of the food even when asked to get potato first. Either you eat your tacos and let the potato get warm or eat potato first and let food get warm. The price to me was slightly higher didn't match the quality of the food at all. I'm sure I'll probably give this place another try again in a few months, hopefully they learn how to heat their tortillas properly by then. Meanwhile, go next door to "Don Felipe!" read more

I've been coming to taqueria Mary's for years and have seen the business grow from a small taco hut to a commercialized business. Although prices have definitely gone up, the quality, taste, eating area, and customer service have consistently improved. This is definitely one of the best Taquerias in Mission, Texas and a must try for all who love Mexican tacos. Service is fast no matter what time you go, and food is always delicious. We lived in the valley for over 18 years and we have seen this place grow from when it used to be just a shack to now a nice little place with an indoor and outdoor seating area.. The tacos are authentic and delicious! Great tasting tacos, synchronizadas, and their beans are really good! We recently moved from Mission to SA and we when we went back to visit Mission, this was our first stop for tacos. We had to get our taqueria Mary fix! Lol! I got to say this isn't the nearest spot to my house so that explains why I hadn't given this spot a try. I knew it was a great place by the great comments and reviews I had seen on it so I finally decided to give it a try. I had the loaded baked potato and an order of tacos, which was more than enough food for this big boy. The baked potato was sufficient food for two people and especially since they offer the option of loading it with beef. A really good taqueria. The service was quick and friendly and the menu and prices were excellent. If you are out in this area you can get a great plate of tacos here. I really enjoyed the trompo. The beans were fantastic and the salsa was spicy. Pretty much this is exactly what I expect from a taqueria in the valley. But I'm not mind-blown like other reviewers seem to be. I would rank it a little better than Taco Rico, about the same as La Taquiza (la Curva), but not as good as Nana's. I probably wouldn't have gone here without someone having recommended it, thank goodness my boyfriend is a local and knew about this gem. He orders a steak taco and I get the chicken, but what you need to know is this isn't a typical taco. It is a almost footlong taco filled with delicious things - avocado, cheese, refried beans - on the most amazingly fresh tortilla. Being from so cal these are the tacos I know and love and they were so yummy. Small easy menu, quick service, I saw my first "Mexican" burger and my co-worker said it was amazing. This is one of the best taquerias in Mission. It's ambiance is very much like the taquerias in nearby Reynosa, Mexico. If you want to eat delicious Mexican food with that authentic Mexican feel, then this is the place to go. I always order the fajita tacos on flour tortillas. Authentic. Felt like I was at a little Mexico taco shop. Sopes were excellent and held up well. Tacos De chicharron were great.
