Everything was great, pretty perfect. Hubby had a trio of ribs, brisket & prime rib. While I had 12 oz prime rib. Prime rib melted in my mouth! The ribs were good, maybe not great. And the brisket was tender and juicy. The atmosphere was a cross between a regional steak house and a supper club. The salad bar reminded me of the supper clubs if the 1980's & 90's. Everything in the salad bar was great, pea salad, broccoli & cauliflower salad, lettuce salad with all the toppings, 3 bean salad. Yes, you do have a buffet on Thanksgiving. I am not sure what that has to do with getting a salad and then you accuse me of not ordering from my waitress and just helping myself. The little older lady who sat us was so sweet, our waitress checked in on us multiple times and was also very nice. The food is a bit spendy but with the amount of bread, salad bar, and entrees it's no more than any other restaurant. And for such quality food too. Rode in from Molalla Oregon for a motorcycle event was invited to the restaurant from some friends. service was was not great had a party of 15 witch they mentioned if we had 1 more they would of denied us:/ ordered our drinks and waitress took our order and I noticed some red flags while it was getting to our turn to order. 1 we were ordering from a paper menu. 2 there were no substitutions from this menu. except they were out of mashed potatoes and the only side would be baked potatoes. and there single pass salad bar. I was going to order the Rib eye (but) I asked if I could have my steak medium rare with French fry's instead of baked potatoes she said no. This is a small stone steakhouse that has been in business for over 60 years and has the ambience of a place that Cowboys and ranchers might come to meet and dine. The service is excellent and multiple waiters and family members make sure that you are taken care of, they have a salad bar which includes many cold items and a brisket, chili, and cowboy beans that come along with every meal. I got the ribeye steak, rare, and it was cooked perfectly and the beef was very tasty with that char grilled taste. 2nd time to Hains Steak House, customer service was good, i ordered a porterhouse 20 ounce Steak, thinner, very gristly, very very hard to cut with the steak knives and I expected more of a steak for 45 dollars, when I was trying to cut it the table was shaking. I was accompanied by a friend who owned a restaurant and is a cook, said it looked terrible and they knew what they were serving me. A supposed 20 ounce steak should fill a person to some degree, I left the restaurant hungry, it was so gristly I couldn't even eat much of it. I should have complained but i heard they get upset when people complain, so better just a review and I will not be turning to eat there. Love this place! We were in Baker for graduation and this popped up as the best steakhouse around. It didn't disappoint! They even have a chuck wagon salad bar. You can purchase one pass through, unlimited passes through but a one pass comes with your steak. I just grabbed a couple plates - there's salads, soups/chili and breads. Celebrating a fabulous lady's birthday we went to Haines based on referral and reviews. If you are in the area and appreciate a good steak, it is a must stop. She started us off with beverages and then got our orders. She took our orders and directed us to the salad bar. Now, you have to understand that they have already plied us with garlic bread but included with our dinner selection was a side of rice, baked potato, mashed potato etc and now this full on salad bar with greens and a variety of toppings and dressings as well as other salad types, pasta, pea, broccoli, jello, cottage cheese, fruit etc But wait you can also serve up yourself a helping of baked beans, prime rib chili and (not or) corn bread. Ya know, I have a soft spot in my heart for a traditional steak house. Must be because they used to be more popular/there used to be more of them around. I had several friends tell me I needed to go to Haines Steak House and indulge my carnivore side. I not only did just that, I can't wait to come back! I really wanted to sample as many dishes as as I could, so I ordered the Steakhouse Combo Sampler, which has sample sizes of Smoked brisket, 2 small bbq ribs, and a small piece of prime rib. To start with the top item, the piece of prime rib I had was one of the best I have had in years. Despite it being toward the end of the evening, it was perfectly cooked and not very fatty. The ribs were tender and delicious. The brisket was flavorful, but on the dry side, although still delicious. They have an amazing salad bar, which includes cowboy beans and even chili. And the cowboy bread was amazing. I almost ordered a second basket, but restrained myself. They have a full bar, so you can order cocktails, as well as beer or wine. So I had a great dinner here, but I can't wait to sink my teeth into a signature steak next time. read more

We went to pay and were asked how our meal was, we were honest and they said they were sorry, but they are very busy. They weren't the upstairs was just us and another table of 3 that also had poor service. after a long drive to get to this steakhouse and after hearing so many good things about it, I was very disappointed in the whole experience of eating there. Golden Corral has better steak than what was served to my friends and me. However, the salad bar was fairly decent for the size but we were under surveillance from the salad bar police patrol while getting fruit and potato salad. Our waitress decided to check on our group when we were finished with dinner... that was the only time. We had to bust our own table, refill our own water from the staff working in the kitchen.
