Took my oldest daughter out on a fancy date lunch and we shared the BRULEED CROISSANT FRENCH TOAST and the GRAIN BOWl. Both were absolutely delicious. All the different elements to the grain bowl were perfect and the french toast was absolutely unlike anything we have ever had. While we loved both things I don't think we can do that too often as it was $20 for one slice of french toast and $24 for the salad which was much smaller then I had anticipated. Wasn't the best experience. I was excited to celebrate after completing documents across the street at the title company. There was a line, which was taking forever. When we finally got to the register we found out why the line was taking forever and why people who had also been in line forever were looking at the menu and making choices at the register. They were out of an apparently popular item, the smash burger. They had so many employees milling around, yet nobody could mark the menus with a post it note, or say something,/anthing to all the people in line, indicating they were out of burgers. Even more upsetting, there was a big lazy slow fly wandering around in the pastries. If they are going to leave the back doors open, maybe an open pastry case isn't the best idea. read more

Finally, an artisan bakery that's on the same level as what you would find in big cities, like LA, SF, NYC, Seattle, etc. Beautiful bakery in the The Village at Rancharrah. It's a pretty large location with plenty to choose from. Customer service was great all around. They have large windows so you can see into the kitchen and watch pastries being made. Pastries range between $5-$7.50. So, they are pretty pricey. I got their Gruyere & Leek Grilled Cheese sandwich and it was a whopping $21!! Add prosciutto or bacon - + $3.25! For that price, I wondered if they milked their own cows and aged the cheese on property. The sandwich was served with a side of dressed arugula. The taste and execution of the sandwich was fine, easy to eat, etc. But the flavor wasn't anything that justified the price tag. I also got an orange marmalade iced latte - kind of whatevs. My MIL got the griddled banana bread which is a thick slice of banana bread, topped with sugar and honeycomb. Also, tasted pretty mediocre. As for Pastries to-go, I got the creme brulee kouign aman (5/5). I don't typically like kouign aman, but I loved the caramel-y flavor of the sugar and they stuff it with a generous amount of pastry cream. I loved it. I also got their Bostock which had peach. Also, very good, but nothing amazing. Tried their chocolate bouchon which were pre-packaged. While, extremely rich & chocolatey, they were dry. My MIL got their marzipan morning bun which I didn't get to try. After all was said and done, the total was over $85!! Yes, you will need to go here on pay day in order to afford this place. Lol. Tartine is my fave bakery in CA and while I do think they are also expensive, I was able to get more items totaling at $75. I'm glad this place is in Reno. It's far enough to not make me want to drive here regularly. But, I will definitely be back to try their other items. This is definitely more of a "TREAT YO SELF" destination. Can't believe I've never reviewed the incredible Perenn at Rancharrah. Perenn is known for being an upscale and expensive boutique bakery, but they are worth it and truly the best. I love all of the pastries at Perenn, but the chocolate bouchons are truly exceptional, and if you want to splurge, the grab-and-go freezer is great, too. My wife is also a huge fan of their matcha. Specifically, they do a coconut cloud matcha, which is a base of lightly sweetened coconut water topped with a matcha foam. It's perfectly sweet and incredibly refreshing on a warm day. The ambiance here is perfectly upscale and accessible. The decor is very chic, and their outdoor patio space is very nice. The service is always great, and though there can be a huge line, it often moves quickly. My only wish for Perenn would be that I could visit more often! It's a cafe and viennoiserie (pastries and French bread) bakery that serves salad, lunch and breakfast. They make daily fresh bread. We got an Iced Vietnamese coffee which was super strong. I drink Vietnamese coffee often and very familiar but this, this was stronger than a typical Viet coffee. So strong that a headache kicked in immediately and only drank 1/4 of the cup. Also got a matcha cloud which consist of coconut water and a creamy matcha foam. First sip, sweet and creamy. Barely tasted the matcha. For pastries we got the chocolate croissant, pain suisse and a Kouign Amann. The Kouign amann was different, it was in a shape of a bar and had multiple flaky layers. Tasted like a palmier cookie. Everything was delicious. The lines can be long and we were told if you just want drinks, walk next door to Perenn Grocery and they can make the drinks quickly to avoid the lines. Possibly the best bakery in Northern Nevada Perenn has been making their mark here in Reno for many years now starting in Midtown. I always went to their location in Midtown for pastries and bread before they opened their new restaurant here at Rancharrah. Their new restaurant offers a full menu and their classic bakery stuff plus more because they have even like a little mini grocery store across the way as well. They use high-quality ingredients and you can tell with each bite. The complete vibe and ambience of their new location is truly one of the best in town and it matches the complete vibe of the shopping center and high class vibe of South Reno. The service can be a bit slow sometimes because they are so busy, but their staff does their best to get through it, and everybody is always very pleasant and enjoyable. They also have helped me out a ton of times whenever I have questions so that is nice. I did not get food just go around. I just got some sweet treats. The little croissant muffin thing that is filled up with a vanilla crème brûlée is seriously unreal probably one of my favorite pastries in Northern Nevada right now. The cookie that they had to offer was seriously amazing as well too. I did not get the name of it, but it was like a white chocolate marshmallow cookie with like the hard sugar edges. It was so tasty. I literally wanted like 50 of them. I also got their daily danish, which was a pineapple, mango cream cheese danish, and it was delectable. The whole shopping center is also really nice where I just took a walk around and went by the little lake to enjoy my stuff. You know a place is popular when it's always busy and you have to wait in line to make an order. Perenn is one of my favorite spots when I visit Reno. Everything is freshly made, bread and pastries are wonderful and the coffee drinks are delicious! They serve breakfast and lunch items till 2:30pm. Like some have mentioned it can be a bit pricey but when you are getting fresh quality dishes, I will accept paying a little more. Hands down the iced latte with their in house vanilla bean syrup is delicious! Not overly sweet and the perfect compliment to their strong espresso. They have indoor and outdoor seating but on a cold day where it's wet outside, it's obvious everyone will sit indoors. They don't have enough chairs. Everyone gets in line to order and the disclaimer from the cashier when they ask if your order is to go or dine in is that you may not have a table. Once you are done ordering, you are given a small placard with a number and the server will bring you your food. While you may find a table, you are not guaranteed a chair. They def don't have enough chairs. This is unacceptable, as they can buy some foldable ones and leave them on the side for patrons to use on a first come first serve basis. Food is good but given the lack of seating, I don't know if I would return. Comfort and dining go hand in hand for me. I had done some yelping and came across this bakery/restaurant/coffee shop. The decor is a very modern farmhouse/rustic approach. With a Bay Area or LA vibe There's a freezer with premade bakery treats to pick out near the queue. They have many options from clothing to their own granola to baked bread, ready to take home. We were there to get some coffee. And what caught our eye was the amazing pastries they had, we decided to go with the croissant cinnamon roll and the banana nut bread. The cinnamon roll was super flaky and out of this world. The banana nut bread was moist, dense and a perfect combo with my latte. It's beautiful inside Perenn with its glorious windows letting the sun shine in. The tables/chairs are nice-looking and there are self-serve stations for coffee, water, and utensils. Mainly counter-service where the staff rings up your order and retrieves your pastries. Hubby and I over-ordered because there were so many great choices. They're on the pricey side for beautiful instagram-worthy pastries!! But, sadly, none of them were executed well; they were dry and the flavors were ok. We tried a $7 seasonal kouign amann, a $5 plain croisant, an $8 almond croissant, a $7 seasonal crufft, and a $4 drip coffee (which I did enjoy). There were no descriptions for the seasonal kouign amann or the seasonal crufft flavors/filling; it was my fault for not asking and assuming the fruit on top was all there was (I didn't care for the filling.) My husband and I were visiting a Reno for Hot August Nights and I found this place on yelp nearby where I had spa services (I'll write about that one separately!) There HAS to be a more efficient way to handle pre-orders. We waited 15-20 minutes just to pick up an order that was already placed and ready to be picked up. There were multiple customers standing around with the same issue and that is orders that were supposedly ready, but no one was actually helping them. The most frustrating part was watching employees avoid eye contact with customers so they wouldn't have to help. It genuinely felt like the strategy was: if we don't make eye contact, we don't have to acknowledge the customer. or maybe it's because I didn't bring a Chanel bag or in Pilates outfits. Perenn needs a designated person responsible for handing out food and drinks and managing mobile/pre-orders. Their pastries are always varied and delicious and they use really great I ingredients in all their dishes. Today I ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage, fluffy egg, avocado, chipotle mayo on a croissant bun. The sandwich was excellent and stacked high with everything. My wife got the Lemon Ricotta pancakes and they were thick and fluffy. We also got a Cappuccino and Macchiato which were both well made and tasty. Service was great and employees were all helpful. The wood tones and cozy touches give it a relaxed, comfortable feel. There's plenty of seating both inside and out, so it never feels cramped. You order at the counter, and they bring the food out once it's ready. We took our baked goods to go instead of dining in. The ordering process was a little slow, but both the cashier and the person handling the food were friendly and helpful. We tried the cookies and cinnamon buns, and both were really good. The buns were soft and pillowy, and the cookies had that nice chewy texture. Prices are on the higher side, which makes sense since it's positioned as a premium bakery.
