Can't believe I've never reviewed the incredible Perenn at Rancharrah. Perenn is known for being an upscale and expensive boutique bakery, but they are worth it and truly the best. I love all of the pastries at Perenn, but the chocolate bouchons are truly exceptional, and if you want to splurge, the grab-and-go freezer is great, too. My wife is also a huge fan of their matcha. Specifically, they do a coconut cloud matcha, which is a base of lightly sweetened coconut water topped with a matcha foam. It's perfectly sweet and incredibly refreshing on a warm day. The ambiance here is perfectly upscale and accessible. The decor is very chic, and their outdoor patio space is very nice. The service is always great, and though there can be a huge line, it often moves quickly. My only wish for Perenn would be that I could visit more often! While they have expanded, more locations and lower pricing could make them a truly exceptional stand-out bakery with accessibility for all. read more

As someone who isn't a breakfast person, the fresh and flaky croissant pairs so well as an egg sandwich that it's definitely changed my mind. The pastries at this location are fabulous and the vibe was relaxed in the open and airy dining room. We ordered at the counter and received great service and a friendly smile. Unfortunately where our experience fell short was the food we ordered off the menu. Smash burger and lemon ricotta pancakes. The hamburger patties were cooked well but the brioche bun left something to be desired. A bit on the dry side and it fell apart as I was handling it to eat. This bun should be changed out to something more substantial that holds its structure. Also, the pancakes were dry as well. Not at all what we were expecting from a pancake. Perenn has multiple locations. This one happens to be their flagship at the Village at Rancharrah. It's a cafe and viennoiserie (pastries and French bread) bakery that serves salad, lunch and breakfast. They make daily fresh bread. We got an Iced Vietnamese coffee which was super strong. I drink Vietnamese coffee often and very familiar but this, this was stronger than a typical Viet coffee. So strong that a headache kicked in immediately and only drank 1/4 of the cup. Also got a matcha cloud which consist of coconut water and a creamy matcha foam. First sip, sweet and creamy. Barely tasted the matcha. For pastries we got the chocolate croissant, pain suisse and a Kouign Amann. The Kouign amann was different, it was in a shape of a bar and had multiple flaky layers. Tasted like a palmier cookie. Everything was delicious. The lines can be long and we were told if you just want drinks, walk next door to Perenn Grocery and they can make the drinks quickly to avoid the lines. Possibly the best bakery in Northern Nevada Perenn has been making their mark here in Reno for many years now starting in Midtown. I always went to their location in Midtown for pastries and bread before they opened their new restaurant here at Rancharrah. Their new restaurant offers a full menu and their classic bakery stuff plus more because they have even like a little mini grocery store across the way as well. They use high-quality ingredients and you can tell with each bite. The complete vibe and ambience of their new location is truly one of the best in town and it matches the complete vibe of the shopping center and high class vibe of South Reno. The service can be a bit slow sometimes because they are so busy, but their staff does their best to get through it, and everybody is always very pleasant and enjoyable. They also have helped me out a ton of times whenever I have questions so that is nice. I did not get food just go around. I just got some sweet treats. The little croissant muffin thing that is filled up with a vanilla crème brûlée is seriously unreal probably one of my favorite pastries in Northern Nevada right now. The cookie that they had to offer was seriously amazing as well too. I did not get the name of it, but it was like a white chocolate marshmallow cookie with like the hard sugar edges. It was so tasty. I literally wanted like 50 of them. I also got their daily danish, which was a pineapple, mango cream cheese danish, and it was delectable. The whole shopping center is also really nice where I just took a walk around and went by the little lake to enjoy my stuff. You know a place is popular when it's always busy and you have to wait in line to make an order. Perenn is one of my favorite spots when I visit Reno. Everything is freshly made, bread and pastries are wonderful and the coffee drinks are delicious! They serve breakfast and lunch items till 2:30pm. Like some have mentioned it can be a bit pricey but when you are getting fresh quality dishes, I will accept paying a little more. Hands down the iced latte with their in house vanilla bean syrup is delicious! Not overly sweet and the perfect compliment to their strong espresso. This is a great spot to meet with friends and to catch up. It can get a little loud inside so be prepared. If weather is nice, the outdoor patio is a good option as well! read more

Bakery connoisseur here this is a fabulous bakery the snacks and treats and desserts coming from one of the best bakery's in the Lake Tahoe region!! This one's been on my bucket list cause usually I was too hungover to make it and the line would be around the corner. It wasn't that bad but this place has a lot of hype and for good reason! What separates this place from the rest is the sheer quality in each individual treat of baked good. This place has some baked stuff I've never heard off before. Like 'Crème brûlée French toast bread'! I would commit crimes for a loaf for that stuff! Everything that my brother and me ordered was phenomenal! Although line was long on the Saturday morning we came in and service was a tad slow for take home baked goods. Maybe at some point they will have to get a larger bakery at some point or separate the restaurant services. Nonetheless it was still all so worth it. Cute and clean restaurant with good food but crappy seating arrangement. Parking is super easy as they have a shared parking lot with businesses in the same complex. Back to the seating issue. They have indoor and outdoor seating but on a cold day where it's wet outside, it's obvious everyone will sit indoors. They don't have enough chairs. Everyone gets in line to order and the disclaimer from the cashier when they ask if your order is to go or dine in is that you may not have a table. Once you are done ordering, you are given a small placard with a number and the server will bring you your food. While you may find a table, you are not guaranteed a chair. They def don't have enough chairs. This is unacceptable, as they can buy some foldable ones and leave them on the side for patrons to use on a first come first serve basis. Food is good but given the lack of seating, I don't know if I would return. Comfort and dining go hand in hand for me. Having a true blue French-style bakery in our biggest, little city is incredible. Their pastries are delectable -- flakey and buttery with a perfect crunch upon first bite. Their service Is fast even when that kine is out the door. The staff is always friendly and points out specials and goes over ingredients. I know we are late to the party on this one. My wife and I are both teachers so we aren't able to venture out during the week when some of the other businesses close by midday. I had done some yelping and came across this bakery/restaurant/coffee shop. The decor is a very modern farmhouse/rustic approach. With a Bay Area or LA vibe There's a freezer with premade bakery treats to pick out near the queue. They have many options from clothing to their own granola to baked bread, ready to take home. We were there to get some coffee. And what caught our eye was the amazing pastries they had, we decided to go with the croissant cinnamon roll and the banana nut bread. The cinnamon roll was super flaky and out of this world. The banana nut bread was moist, dense and a perfect combo with my latte. Kudos to the barista that day as these were the best lattes that we have ever had in Reno. We really enjoy a couple places downtown and this is so good. It's worth driving from Spanish Springs for. The eggs were undercooked, even for poached, the sausage was a bit too salty for me, and there was a sour taste about it could have been the sausage or the sauce. Mainly counter-service where the staff rings up your order and retrieves your pastries. Hubby and I over-ordered because there were so many great choices. They're on the pricey side for beautiful instagram-worthy pastries!! But, sadly, none of them were executed well; they were dry and the flavors were ok. We tried a $7 seasonal kouign amann, a $5 plain croisant, an $8 almond croissant, a $7 seasonal crufft, and a $4 drip coffee (which I did enjoy). There were no descriptions for the seasonal kouign amann or the seasonal crufft flavors/filling; it was my fault for not asking and assuming the fruit on top was all there was (I didn't care for the filling.) My husband and I were visiting a Reno for Hot August Nights and I found this place on yelp nearby where I had spa services (I'll write about that one separately!) This place is truly incredible! Fantastic ricotta pancakes and so many delicious pastries and breads (their baguettes are so tasty). We've been twice in the short time we've been in Reno and I do expect to be back again. It's very, very busy on the weekends so plan accordingly. The first time we stopped by was in the early afternoon on a Saturday and they were sold out of nearly everything. At least you know you are getting fresh baked goods when you stop by. Their pastries are always varied and delicious and they use really great I ingredients in all their dishes. Today I ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage, fluffy egg, avocado, chipotle mayo on a croissant bun. The sandwich was excellent and stacked high with everything. My wife got the Lemon Ricotta pancakes and they were thick and fluffy. We also got a Cappuccino and Macchiato which were both well made and tasty. Service was great and employees were all helpful. We stopped by Perenn on a Sunday morning while we were in the area. The space is bright and inviting, with big windows that let in lots of natural light. The wood tones and cozy touches give it a relaxed, comfortable feel. There's plenty of seating both inside and out, so it never feels cramped. You order at the counter, and they bring the food out once it's ready. We took our baked goods to go instead of dining in. The ordering process was a little slow, but both the cashier and the person handling the food were friendly and helpful. We tried the cookies and cinnamon buns, and both were really good. The buns were soft and pillowy, and the cookies had that nice chewy texture. Prices are on the higher side, which makes sense since it's positioned as a premium bakery. Yes, it's worth many visits! First visit today, after hearing so much good for so long I finally made it. But I didn't realize was that in addition to amazing pastries they also have other foods. First and foremost is the croissant cinnamon roll, totally novel concept and I can't believe everything isn't just a croissant or something. A cinnamon roll, but now it has flaky and tender layers to add to the fund of eating a magnificent cinnamon roll. It was quite Rich and got more so closer to the center, so I'm really glad I had an iced beverage although the day certainly called for a warm beverage. Seating inside is at a premium. The place was busy the entire time we were there, definitely not enough seating for everybody. Fortunately, they have plenty of outdoor seating. We got a sample of banana bread, and it was really tasty. You can tell there was plenty of banana baked into that bread. It had an ooen crumb instead of the usually dense loaf. I brought home the seasonal danish, it was a cheese danish with a mango compote on top. The puff pastry was just good on its own, without any of the toppings I would've been happy. The Earl Grey cookie, my daughter said it was like drinking her favorite cup of tea. It really had the essence of Earl Grey. And it was a good sized, tender cookie to make a cookie snob smile. This is a perfect place to go solo, or with friends. Anytime that it's open, there is something for you. The gentleman next to me had schnitzel, and it looked and sounded amazing.
