Our first trip to Wheatberry was a success! We were so excited to learn there is a new bakery and weekend breakfast shop in southeast Reno and our taste buds weren't disappointed. They had all the wonderful pastries you can imagine and although they were good size, they had a lighter texture to them, which I really appreciated and you could tell they were made with care and quality ingredients. They had a berry Brulé pastry that I think was one of the favorites, although I always tend to lean towards the bear claws and almond croissant. The almond croissant was a yummy buttery almond flavor but was just a bit over browned on the edges for my taste. The bear claw was soft and tasty. It also had apples in it, which made it sort of a mix of a bear claw apple fritter, but was tasty all the same. We also got one of the blueberry cheese danishes that was very good as well and the morning bun -- this was a good size cinnamon roll sugared treat that was so soft and amazing! I would have to say I would go straight for this next time. We also tried two espresso drinks- a latte and a mocha and both were excellent! Looking further at the menu- I see that they have several lunch entrees, quiches and breakfast sandwiches all for very affordable pricing. AND- homemade cakes! that I will be trying in the future for some family birthdays, which I am so happy to see that someone in the area is making fresh homemade cakes near us. If you haven't tried wheatberry out, I highly suggest suggest it - their fresh ingredients and homemade quality will win you over for sure and this bakery is a much needed Welcome addition to our Neighbourhood! read more

Super cute, little bakery with outdoor seating. More upstairs, but I didn't get to check that out. The girl at the counter was super friendly, gave recommendations, and the staff seemed to all get along and like each other. I bought 2 cupcakes and 2 cookies to go. Cost was $14 so on par which prices around town. My friend enjoyed her cookies on the way home. I later tried the biscoff cupcake that was in the sense of the dense batter, small filing (not too much), a little much frosting for me but looked very nice presentation wise. read more

Whatever is a quaint little gem on Longley, in between Patriot and Huffaker. It was pretty tasty, the staff was friendly, and it was clean. It's not a huge place, but there is outdoor seating for spring summer fall months, and there is upstairs seating which I was pleasantly surprised at. She has quite a variety of pastries cookies pancakes The cake select delicious as I'm sure they are. I loaded the quaintness of it. I had a cookie and it was soft and Chuy just the way I like them. They bring your coffee to you in a real cup, which I actually love. A friend of ours had a latte and it had a cute design on the top. She loved her la latte. read more

I meet a friend for some coffee/pastry this morning, and this place ticks a lot of boxes on what I'm looking for in a bakery/cafe. The prices are very fair, the food was good, the space is nice, and the service was very friendly and helpful. I got a butter croissant, and a breakfast sandwich, and though that the croissant was very good (also ask if they have some jam that they make in house to go with it). My breakfast sandwich was good, but nothing extraordinary, but at $8 I'm not going to complain, and I will probably be stopping in for one again before I go to work in the near future. We decided to hit up Wheatberry Baking Company because we had never been and were looking for something light and new to us. Their location has gone through many different businesses so I was happy to see something like this take up the space. We started with a sweet treat while we waited for our light lunches. I ordered the vegetable Quiche we shared the the Cranberry Pecan Chicken Salad, and my wife got the Denver Quiche. We also split a raspberry? danish. Everything seemed fresh and was really good. I loved the dressing on the salad. My wife enjoyed her quiche as well. I did like my quiche but the salad was much better. One thing I found interesting, the salad didn't come with any bread. I expected to get a lest a slice of some of their bread to go with the salad like most places, and it really would have given us a little sample of what they do with their baking. Just a little disappointing. It's a small space downstairs but they have plenty of space upstairs in a very nice dining area. I wouldn't hesitate to return and try one of their sandwiches next time, just to get a feel for their baking style. read more

Price is on par with other bakeries in the area. Most pastries are around the five dollar price point. The pastries have wonderful laminated layers. Flakey, buttery, perfection. My favorite is the blueberry danish. Wonderful crunchy layered crust. The filling is perfect and so well balanced with tartness from the berries and sweetness from the filling. I did order a breakfast sandwich and it was a little underwhelming. For the price point, along was what was included, it was okay. Service - friendly person working the cash register. Ten stars! I was lucky enough to be gifted a LARGE box of yummies from Wheatberry right before Christmas. Everything was AMAZING! The Cheese Danish, Muffins, COOKIES - four different kinds - croissants, etc. The next time you are looking for a little something special - maybe to bring to a party or take home for the family - head over to Wheatberry. Quality/Quantity - Today we got the following: Cinnamon Maple Pull - Apart - The texture on the top of the pull apart was so good. Crunchy, sweet (a little overly sweet), etc. Due to the extreme sweetness, it was hard for me to taste either the cinnamon or maple... Either way, this was so good! Lemon Meringue Cruffin - Wow, it tasted just like pie! Amazing flavors of the meringue and of the lemon. But again, this pastry was also overly sweet for me. My wife says this might be her new favorite bakery?!?! She will be taking her girl friends here to it check out. In summary, a simple menu done well! Atmosphere - Small local bakery. Well the upstairs might be large...? I did not have time to go up and check out. Just means that I have to come back. Service - Good. As the line started to form behind me, another cashier came upfront to help. Hence the limited pictures, as I did not want to hold up the line. Price - $13, my wife says inexpensive for what we got. Arrived at 10am for a get together with a friend. It was quite slow at the time on a Saturday. We got coffee and a bakery item. I was happy they had Decaf-Coffee since I had my fill of Regular earlier. My friend got a Latte and an odd type muffin where you can peel off layers. I could not pass up the pumpkin bread which was individually wrapped. It was tasty but flat as it had no body to it at all. Tells me they use white flour and lots of oil. My friend enjoyed her funny muffin but it was small. My main goal in going to a bakery was to get a standard cinnamon rolls which they did not have there. They had another type that looked similar but was not what I wanted. All bakeries have cinnamon rolls. It is good to have unique choices but you should have the main items available too. I was also surprised that they did not have regular muffins. I love bran muffins and if they had those made with real bran and wheat flour, I would have bought a half dozen. Young girl at counter was friendly and location was okay to find. The only PLUS for us was the fact that they had a big room upstairs with lots of tables as it was breezy at the outside tables. We sat in the corner and chatted for many hours with no one around. We had lots to talk about and it was great we could sit there in the quiet. Glad they remembered we were upstairs when it was time to close. They only other problem is that they do not have a restroom. I was told to go around the corner and there was no signs so I went into the Mexican Restaurant next door and asked to use the restroom. I guess they share that room but with no signs I had no idea which way to go. Not sure this will be our go-to spot. read more

What a cute bakery! I had the privilege to stop by on a Sunday morning with some cravings for a croissant and decided to stop by and try Wheatberry out. First and foremost, the shop is adorable, with a vast array of options for baked goods, food, and macarons. They also serve coffee, and I opted for a plain americano, which was amazing. The croissant was buttery and soft, and most importantly - delicious! The service was top notch, I was greeted by a sweet woman who helped me out. I was certainly grateful for that too. On a lunch whim with a coworker we had made a stop somewhere else but Wheatberry had been my recommendation. I ordered the Cranberry, Toasted Pecan and Chicken salad. After ordering I was informed that they were out of chicken so I was offered turkey. The salad itself was flavorful, but I'm wondering what the actual salad with chicken would be like. Same with my friend. I ordered a pastry to go, there were so many wonderful looking ones it was hard to narrow it down. The outside seating was nice and relaxing. I really enjoy Wheatberry! Quiche, morning buns, banana bread, amaretto latte and chai tea are the items I've tried so far. I plan on trying more and branching out to their lunch items. Lady at the front counter is ALWAYS friendly! She has great food knowledge (allergies/ingredients/recommendations) and she carries my food to the upstairs dining area when it's complete! 8/16/2024- I feel so fortunate to have a really good bakery nearby.: Specific days of when they are open, but worth the wait.. Friendly staff and plenty of favorites to pick from.. My weakness has and will always be bakeries-.. lol.. Usually morning buns are usually hard around the edges but the one I got today was soft and you could smell the cinnamon sugar!.. Just toasted a slice of the cinnamon pumpkin sourdough bread with raisins.. Yummmm!.. just a really nice consistent crunch and a hint of the pumpkin.. I love Wheatberry and all of their menu items. I haven't tried everything that they have, but the things I have were spectacular. It is a small space for ordering, but it's very clean and well organized. The outdoor space and quiet area upstairs are both beautiful and relaxing. And the service has always been excellent. When I heard about a new Scandinavian bakery in town, and I couldn't wait to check it out. While it wasn't quite what I envisioned as a traditional Scandinavian bakery, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of its offerings. I tried the Sausage, Spinach, and Goat Cheese Quiche, and it was delightful. The crust was tender and flaky, and the custard filling was bursting with flavor. We also indulged in a chocolate croissant and a raspberry cheese danish. Both pastries featured perfectly flaky, buttery laminated dough, and the fillings were spot on. They're still relatively new and only open Thursday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., but I'm excited to see how they grow and what new delicacies they'll bring to the table. When we arrived we were treated to friendly and quick service by the owner. After seeing all the appealing options, we got a box of pastries to try at home. My favorite was the cinnamon pull apart. It was soft on the inside and chewy as well as crisp on the outside. I especially liked the light drizzle of glaze on top. Other pastries my husband and I enjoyed were the chocolate croissant, morning bun, apple pastry, and chocolate chip cookie. I thought the apple pastry should've had more apple filling, other than that all the pastries were enjoyed and we will probably go back. I finally got to try this bakery! The worker was very nice and helpful. I had the morning bun, and it was really good, but since I got it to go, I didn't get to enjoy it warm. Well...everything looks delicious but I guess I'm not used to such high prices. I finally settled on one $4.50 chocolate chip cookie because I'm hungry before I go to an appointment. But the selection of pastries was VERY limited. Maybe because it's 12:30 in the afternoon? Maybe they sold everything? Their pies look great but they are regular pie size and the pecan pie is $32. I guess I'm just not ready for these prices. One pull apart cinnamon that's about the size of a muffin is $5.5. So if these prices seem ok to you I'm betting everything they make is delicious. The chocolate chip cookie is delicious. But if you're looking for something in particular I'd recommend calling to be sure they have it available. First time here since the farmer's market and I was glad to see it wasn't that far from the office! The food is amazing as always! I had a coffee and sandwich made for my lunch. Has outdoor seating. Service wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. 4 stars for now, there's some room for improvement for quality customer service. I drive past this little bakery every day and finally made it in! So cute, warm and welcoming. The kind person behind the counter was so sweet and helpful with wonderful recommendations. My husband and I each got a tea, which is always a good idea and we split a ham and cheese croissant. She offered to warm it up for us, to our delight, and it came out perfectly toasted with the cheese nice a melted! There is nothing better than a warm croissant in the morning. In fact, we liked it so much we decided to go back in for a loaf of jalapeño cheddar bread which we promptly took home to make sandwiches with. Delicious! I wanted to find an alternative to Perenn due to the constant overcrowding there. This cute little spot has pastries that are also on point! The staff there are always friendly too. Wheatberry Bakery has been on my list of places to try since a friend told me about it. I finally got there and am really glad I did. It was difficult deciding what to get. The cookies look yummy. The quiche was so tempting but I opted for the chocolate croissant to have with my evening tea. Ever since Homage shut down we've been looking for a spot to replace it. What I like about what Wheatberry has done with their outdoor seating is to arrange it so that you feel you are in a garden and not a concrete patio. There used to be an Italian restaurant at this location. I'm not sure if there was outdoor seating back then but once spring is here I know we'll be taking advantage of the eclectic outdoor seating. Back to the baked goods. Delicious! It's been a long time since I had such a light fluffy pastry. What I especially liked was the amount of chocolate used. Not too much. Just enough to enjoy the flavor of both the pastry and the chocolate. While it may seem pricey I just saw a commercial for a "deal" at Burger King...$5 for 2 whopper juniors. Most definitely one of the best breakfast/bakery places in town. Tried it for the first time today and got their veggie quiche, which was one of the best quiche I've ever had. It was so creamy and flavorful, absolutely worth the price. Almost has me wanting to buy an entire quiche, since they just give you a slice. The white mocha wasn't the best I've had, but the food makes up for it ten fold. Not to say the white mocha was bad, cause it wasn't, just not as sweet as I tend to enjoy them. Also, the staff were incredibly nice, especially the owner. She wasn't even the one taking our order, she just walked by and thanked us as she put more baked goods out. Hey folks, I just had the opportunity to check out the new Wheatberry Baking Company, a cute little unassuming business. Here's the good and bad of it. I walked in and was immediately greeted by friendly staff at the counter. The set up was odd in that the seating was all upstairs and baked goods and counter was downstairs. Nothing to get hung up on. The bad of it, which was that they were almost sold out of everything. (Which is also a good sign!) Out of what was left, it all looked delicious. I picked up a crispy flaky ham and cheese croissant, an apple maple pull apart and two hand pies. I suggest heating the croissant. The pull apart was good heated and it brought out the aromatics of the maple and made it moist, warm and sticky. The apple and mixed berry hand pies were soft and buttery with just right amount of fruit. They have other things like fresh baked baguettes, quiches, sandwiches and salads too. Note: They are only open Thursday to Saturday until 2pm, so if you want full choice of their assortment of treats, I'd show up earlier to beat the rush. Also, the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is the seating upstairs is a little wonky. Not a deal breaker though. I LOVE their pies. I order two or three for Thanksgiving. This year there was an issue with the apple pie. I did not know this, as my pie seemed fine and tasted great! The owner made it right, and sent a lovely note explaining the issue. This shop has integity! I will continue to come here as I did before. Went in there to see if they carried a certain bread. They said only on weekends but they would save me one. I bought a couple of quiches and they were very good. I also bought a couple of pastries which were also very good. when I went back to pick up the bread they said they did not think I was coming so they sold it to someone else. I was to pick it up after 10am and I arrived around noon. They closed at 2pm that day. I went back again during the week and got my quiches again and asked about the bread. The owner told me if I wanted to make sure they save one was to pre-pay ($11 ) for it so I did. I went back the next Saturday to pick it up and they said they were sold out. I got my refund and sadly as good as their food was I won't be back. read more

Recently heard about Wheatberry in a post comparing it to Perenn and Beloved. Wheatberry pastries were flavorful and unique, however I'm not sure if I would consider this bakery similar to either of those. The spot is quaint and prices are significantly less than some bakeries in town, however portions are smaller as well. Oh my lanta, that was some buttery goodness :P I may have gone a little overboard, but why not try a bit of everything when it comes to pastries?! Almond crossaint, lemon Raspberry brioche, raspberry bear claw, lemon blueberry danish and my favorite of the bunch, cinnamon pull apart bread. I devoured one every day for breakfast (laminated dough can get a little hard after a few days but nothing a pop in the oven couldn't handle) and they all had my day started delightfully and complimented my coffee perfectly. So buttery and full of flavors that get your taste buds yearning for more! Can't wait to see where they pop up next! Thank you for the tasty treats!
