That was an ok for when you get your check. What has me upset is the 18% gratuity is applied to include the sales tax. I tip based on service and food. Why am I being gouged to tip on the tax when that has nothing to do with the efforts of our server and the kitchen? Do the math! This business has just lost a customer and I plan to share this ridiculous tip tax gouging practice with as many people that I can reach out to. I've been here a feed times before but I haven't lately until today. Very chill atmosphere and friendly service. I got the 1lb of steamed shrimp and it was delicious. I stop by with friends to have a drink and a bite to eat. It definitely has a neighborhood staple type of vibe. The servers are welcoming and friendly. The menu prices are very reasonable. I ordered a lemon drop and stuffed shrimp with broccoli and a loaded baked potato. The drink was good. The stuffed shrimp was just okay. It lacked flavor. The broccoli should have been cooked a little longer and the baked potato was fine. My friends ordered the fried shrimp dinner and the grilled pork chop dinner. We all had the same sides. It's been a long time since I've been able to go to Dellis restaurant. I was invited there by my niece to meet with her friends. She currently lives in another state. I was very happy to finally come back to Baltimore and to go to Dellis and get her favorite meal. Search for years since I've been there since my husband passed away six years ago that was our favorite place from Saturday night. But I remember the great food they had. HAD?? But not anymore. I ordered a crabcake and every bite that I ate was full of shells and the flavors are from what I remember and I couldn't finish eating it. It made me sick on my stomach. So I took half of it home my sister tasted it. She says what happened. I said I don't know. Must have new recipe and a new cook. I could understand why the restaurant part was empty. First off I would like to address all the reviews complaining about a tip automatically being added in to the bill. Please see the attached picture. You have to be an idiot if you don't see it posted on the menu, also posted on the wall and door when you walk-in. The food was good, typical bar food but that is what I would expect when it's called Dellis BAR & Grill. We had onion rings for an appetizer that came out hot. We also ordered a shrimp salad sandwich that I asked to be put into a wrap, which they had no issue doing. My husband ordered Hot Turkey and gravy with French fries and Cole slaw. I was really disappointed with our service this past weekend. Came in for dinner, we overall had a terrible experience. The music was too loud and had to shout to talk at our table. We weren't given and water or utensils. We asked for a medium rare and the steak was well done. I told the server and she brought back another one that was raw. So my girls have come here a few times and have raved about the wings. I wanted some casual food so after debating about where to go decided to try it out. We were seated right away. I am not a Maryland native, but I've been here for about half a decade. I have had my fair share of crab cakes and have to say that Dellis' is what I was looking for when asking natives where the best crab cake is. Is this the absolute best? Well, it's damn close. This was easily One of the biggest as well as meatiest. And no measly claw meat scraps, but colossal chunks with minimal (albeit tasty) filling. You get to choose if it's broiled or fried. You don't have to deal with shitty traffic, parking, or people of Baltimore/Annapolis. This place has its own parking lot and it's own bar. Sure, the restaurant looks divey. Sure, the decor isn't the greatest. But I got a crab cake sandwich and slice of Smith Island cake that both didn't disappoint. Not sure how the rest of the menu is, but from the other reviews it's clear that crab cakes are what this restaurant does right. The coleslaw is probably the only thing I'd complain about (too much white pepper) because even the tomatoes were the most red I've seen since I lived in Europe. So, I will do this place justice and when people talk about the best crab cake, I will recommend this place because who loves paying an arm and a leg while having to deal with Baltimore proper?! Bonus: across the street is an authentic German meat market where I stocked up on goods I haven't seen anywhere else in Maryland! P.S. I ordered takeout so I can't talk about the service as much. It is very flavorful, just enough salt and not too sweet. I loved the broth! There was a good amount of onions to bread ratio. And of course when in Maryland, crab cakes are the way to go and a must try. And you have got to try it here. There was more meat than breading, which is always a good thing.
