It had a seaweed salad shredded on top which I thought I would not eat but it was lite & not super salty. The salmon sat on a bed of udon noodles with stir fried veggies & a broth. The flavor of the whole thing was amazing & it all blended together perfectly. The other meals ordered were rockfish which was a little bland on a bed of carrots, asparagus & fingerling potatoes and the carrots were a little hard but it was a nice piece of white fish! The sea bass was crusted with macadamia nuts & it had a better flavor. The server was pleasant, helpful and attentive! The passionfruit crush was very good as well! We ordered the smith island cake for dessert which I didn't really like. It's several layers of thin white cake with chocolate icing but the icing was super thick & not creamy at all but obviously I'm in the minority because the server said it's one of the most popular desserts so......you can decide for yourself!! He had a Tennessee Whiskey Mule, and I enjoyed two glasses of crisp Canyon Road Sauvignon Blanc--only $6 each! Originally was going to go to a different restaurant located in the shops at Kenilworth, but since it was a long wait, we decided to go to the gourmet instead. There was no wait and we were seated right away. I ordered a old-fashioned and some of the gourmet wings. They had several different flavors, but I went with the butter old bay wings. The evening started off a little dicey. The first go round they brought out the wrong wings. The waiter was very apologetic and said he would be right back with the correct wings. After About 10 to 15 minutes, he came out with shrimp this time still not the correct order. I guess the third time was the charm because they finally got the order right. In the meantime, I sipped on an old-fashioned that I ordered. The flavor was good, but they were a little bit skimpy as far as the size of the drink. You can see in my photo. The glass was only half full and most of that was the large ice cube. The photo is before I even took a sip of the drink. Since it is close to St. Patrick's Day, I chose the fish and chips for my main course. The fish was nice and fluffy with a crisp beer battered exterior. The fries were thin, cut crispy and lightly salted. The food was definitely delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The noise level was moderate inside of the restaurant. They had light music playing and you were able to have a decent conversation without being drowned out by the music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bar area of a little more lively. Overall a good experience. Had been to the "sister" restaurant in Catonsville so tried this for a late lunch/early dinner. Nicely inside and they have a few tables outside. Very friendly staff and overall we were happy. Had the crab and lobster dip to start. Table enjoyed it, but would recommend asking for extra bread. Meals were fish tacos,shrimp scampi flatbread, Hutzler, and fish and chips. Every meal was cooked perfect and our group enjoyed their selections. Would like to come back and try some sushi and oysters, but definitely worth a try. read more

I didn't care for the rice it was served with but I believe you have an option to swap to something else if you don't want rice. We had a combination of things: the Seared Tuna Nachos, Caesar salad with blackened salmon (medium cooked), the Coastal Blue Crab Bisque and Gourmet Wings. The orders were cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The salads and tuna was fresh. The service was professional and the host was very attentive to our needs. Great first experience tonight. I've been wanting to stop by but hadn't found myself in the area at a time that works for a meal. Tonight finally worked out, and I'm glad I gave it a try. I had taken the kids to get their photo with Santa at the Shopps at Kenilworth and it was the perfect opportunity to give it a visit. The kids loved their grilled cheeses, I loved the raw oysters and Chincoteague Oyster Stew (so did my wife), and the sushi roll. My wife also really enjoyed the salad she got with salmon; though she wished she had asked for the salad dressing on the side as it was quite saturated. But the salmon was perfectly cooked, which is a bit unusual as it is so easily overcooked. The service was second to none! Very well run and efficient! It was my first time visiting The Gourmet. I haven't been to Keniloworth Mall in so long, only to run the Charles Street 12 miler. I ordered the Angry Bayou mussels and the fried oyster salad. I really enjoyed the angry mussels. It had mussels, Cajun sauasage and peppers. There was a kick at the end and the broth was so tasty that I needed more bread. The menu was so extensive that I wanted to order the Hutzlers shrimp salad but opted to get the fried oysters instead. I'll have to go back and try the Hutzlers. For those of you old enough, Hutzlers was a department store that closed down years ago. The ambiance had a clean aesthetic and the service was good. Jackie took care of us and made sure we had plenty of water. For those of you looking for good seafood or happy hour, I'd come here. There is plenty of parking and wasn't overly crowded. read more

Visited The Gourmet at Kenilworth recently with my mother and we quite enjoyed the experience. The hostess and server were so incredibly pleasant and kind. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and has everything we needed including to go cups! This was especially appreciated as our reservation was within 90 minutes of closing on a weeknight and most other tables were nearing the end of their dining experiences. We enjoyed the shrimp and grits, baja fish tacos, and seafood gumbo. Didn't like the sauce paired with the fried green tomatoes so I'd recommend you request that on the side just in case. I've heard from several friends about TGK, including a friend who's been their a few times and absolutely loves the place who just happened to invite me to lunch. I was seated by the hostess on arrival to meet my friend who was already seated. Grace was our server. Kind, efficient, and professional. The menu was very inviting. Grace mentioned the Reuben sandwich as a special but my friend and I ordered and shared their rendering of Fried Green Tomatoes (and my friend hates all tomatoes except these), he ordered the St Mary's salad and I ordered the Bookmaker. Being a nearly lifelong Baltimorean, The Bookmaker is a classic offering at an iconic Little Italy joint. That salad was good but drenched with dressing. TGK's was excellent and light. Topped with julienned salami and shrimp, surrounded by olives in a bowl of mixed greens, I couldn't believe the excellence of this item! And the tomatoes were topped with bacon bits and lump crab. Another exceptional item!! My buddy enjoyed his salad as well. We chatted as we enjoyed our meals and left the house very satisfied. Bottom line? I'm sold on TGK! Everything is as fresh it can be. Beware of using Local Flavor Coupons. I purchased a Local Flavor coupon for this restaurant. We paid $15.00 for a $30.00 certificate. We made a reservation for dinner and requested a quiet table. When we arrived, the dining room side of the restaurant was much noisier than the bar side. We decided to sit in the bar. The restaurant is extremely noisy no matter where you sit! After a small wait, Robby came over. I told him I had seen Fish and Chips on their website, but I could not seem to locate it on the menu. He simply took the menu, pointed to the left bottom corner, said it was there, and it was $17.00 - so we ordered two. Our dinners arrived quickly. The presentation was very interesting - they wrapped the fish and chips in a paper cone. There were 3 pieces (not large) of fish and fries. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the fries were crisp. We requested our check and gave Robby the certificate. Imagine our shock and surprise when he came back and told us that we could not use the certificate as it was good for an entrée only. We did not realize until he told us that the Fish and Chips were listed under Light Fare. I am sorry, but I firmly believe that paying $17.00 for Fish and Chips is an entrée price. So, be careful if you have a certificate - make sure your read the fine print. You might be in for a surprise like we were. This restaurant is very pricey! The food here is great! Stopped by to grab a bite with a few friends. Got to try a few items on the menu. Big fan of the oysters Rockefeller and the Nantucket pasta. Grabbed a special too, the sea bass with chimichurri and it was delicious! Really great atmosphere here. Only reason I am giving it 4 stars was the service wasn't the best. We were sat at a high top in the bar area and it took almost 20 min for a server to come and take our drink order. Took awhile to come back for the food order too and when we received our food, we didn't have any silverware. We asked for silverware when they brought the food out, only to then watch the server go in the back and 5 min later came out with another tables food.
