    Final battle with the dragon.

This was a great, magical experience. There is some reading involved, so younger kids have to work together with their parents, but in a fun way. The light is kept dim, which creates a neat ambiance, but it can be hard to read the book in some areas. Bring a cheap flashlight or headlamp to make it easier. The staff is friendly and in character. You can go to them if you need a hint. The only thing keeping it from being five stars is that some physical structures are blocked off pending repairs. This can make it harder to complete some of the later challenges and takes away from the experience.

Okay, so let's preface this review by saying I am no gamer. I am not a follower of magicians or elves or fairies. Just a mom, who went with my 6 year old and her cousins while visiting the water park next door. The staff in the office were friendly, but I find the whole concept and the signage confusing. But, in a nutshell, games are roughly $14 a person and you also have to purchase a wand for anywhere from $15-18. And the "toppers" cost an additional amount. While it is fun to do "quests" and "adventures" (I.e. virtual scavenger hunts that you run around 4 floors collecting ruins by pointing your wand at the item), there are some technical issues. For starters, it wasn't even that crowded and it was still a wait to do certain things. Also, it's so flipping hard to hear some of the machines!! Flat out, ear pressed against the thing to hear what it told you. Also, there's no map, per se. You can see signs on each floor saying Whispering Woods is up, but there's nothing in the little booklet you're using as your "key." Additionally, sometimes the riddles in the booklet refer to them as something else (ex. Wall says Whispering Woods, but booklet says "Whispering maze." Anyway, long story short - hard to hear and confusing. Another criticism, if you will, they don't have employees wandering around the 4 floors. If you need help, you have to book it down to the office and find the 1-2 people there. Total inconvenience and not very helpful at all. Kids liked it, me not so much.

We finally made our way into MagiQuest! Of course, you pay up front to get started- pay for the game itself, wand to play the game and activation of the wand? I believe. Naturally, there is well-placed accouterments that your children will love! Lol. I had a good time playing this game! As did my husband! My kiddo enjoyed it at first, but once he realized that the game was repetitive, he lost interest. In all honesty, this is a repetitive game! But it gives you and your family something to do indoors aside from the water rides. This is especially benefical if you visit Great Wolf Lodge in the winter. Keep in mind, you do not have to stay at Great Wolf to go to MagiQuest!

The guy in the gift shop advised that our 4 year old would be too young to play, so we only bought one wand for the whole family to use.

There's a little bit of everything -- go karts, laser tag, bowling, arcade games, mini golf, climbing areas and more, so everyone in the group can find something they enjoy. The activity bracelet/pass can feel a little pricey, but if you're planning to do several activities it's definitely worth it and makes things easier instead of paying for each thing separately. One thing we really liked was how convenient the location is. It's connected right between the Kalahari resort and the movie theater, so it's super easy to walk over and spend some time there without having to drive anywhere. Overall it's a really fun spot if you're visiting Wisconsin Dells -- especially great for families or anyone looking for something to do besides the waterparks. Lots of games, lots of energy, and plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Although it's not huge, there are so many interesting exhibits packed into a relatively small space. We could have easily spent hours here until close but we had plans to hit the road and head back home to the Chicago area. The gentleman upfront was nice enough to only charge me for 2 adults, even though I later checked the website and saw my 5 year old normally would have been charged at a lower price. My children, ages 3 and 5, had a blast. They ran around from exhibit to exhibit. I like that each one had instructions printed to explain the illusion. If you're into outer space, space stations, etc., the second room is for you! My son and I paid the $4/ person cost to Ride in the space shuttle VR experience. It wasn't really that exciting, but my 5 year old enjoyed it. My favorite part was the 3rd exhibit. Don't forget to head upstairs as well. The Van de Graff generator (to make your hair stand up) didn't seem to work. I have a picture of myself as a child standing there, so I was pretty bummed I couldn't get one with my children. Since it was cold and snowing, we didn't experience any outdoor exhibits, but there is plenty to do inside. You do have to walk outside briefly between exhibits, so dress appropriately. Definitely would return!

The kids would have stayed longer but we had another event scheduled so had to leave. Even the little kids will find something interesting. Even we adults learned lots of cool things. I think the ideal age is 5-10 years old but outside that range is still good too. If you are staying at a local resort ask if you can get a discount for doing so. The tickets are (as expected) not cheap but this one is worth the time and money. Be prepared to end this activity through the gift shop and brace for buying expensive souvenirs.

We stayed in a single king room and were pleasantly surprised with how much space we had, it didn't feel cramped even with all the toddler gear. Both the hotel and the waterpark were consistently clean throughout our stay. For a high traffic family resort this was impressive and much appreciated. The wave pool and dedicated toddler area were a huge hit. Our little dude had a blast and it was great to have a safe, age appropriate space for him to explore. The lodge is due for some updates, specifically the waterpark equipment - the water jet skis in the toddler area were all broken and material was visibly chipping. While my toddler didn't notice the cosmetic wear, as a parent it is a little worrisome. I'd say visiting in the winter was the perfect way to beat the cold, though it did limit us to indoor sections. We're definitely curious to return when it's warmer to see how the outdoor area fairs. Overall a great choice for families with toddlers, but hopefully, management will invest in some much needed repairs to the play features soon!

I complained to the front desk. They said they cannot do anything about the deluxe room, but they moved me to another standard room, which was ok, but not what I paid for. The whole experience was extremely inconvenient and took over an hour of my vacation time. I typically don't post bad reviews like this unless the place is really bad. I communicated with their management to try to work this out. They basically told me to go pound sand and to deal with Expedia. Expedia told me it's Great Wolf Lodge problem not their problem. With so many other nice water parks in the area, why would I come back to this sh*thole?
