5 stars for the food, 1 star for service. Would go to Del's all the time in college (2019-2023) especially after they changed the menu post pandemic. I recently went and loved how fresh, flavorful and vibrant their burgers and chicken sandwich creations were. Loved the retro aesthetic and unique-hard to find in the hudson valley menu. The bee's knees was such a phenomenal cocktail/ice cream treat. A solid 8/10!! Service is definitely a shot in the dark, at least 60% of the time something in my order was incorrect(I often would ask for the hot honey sandwich without mayo and it would almost always still come with mayo), the wait time after ordering was exceptionally long (upwards of 45 mins) or something from my order would be missing. Awesome ice cream stand. They also have food- burgers etc. beer, wine and ice-cream cocktails. They have large lawn with quite a few benches. Lots of groups having a good time. The line to oversee can get busy, but not that bad. Plain old fun place. read more

This is an awesome roadside spot. We randomly drove by it before we went to the fair. Service, food and desserts were AWESOME. The bacon on the burger was cooked to perfect, usually bacon gets half cooked but not here. The burger was a good size! Fries were good as well. We loved Del's Dairy Creme, so much so, that we really wanted to bring it back to Manhattan with us on the back of a flatbed truck. This is the kind of place Shake Shack and the Burger Joint try to emulate in the city, only Del's is the unmitigated real deal. They serve made to order, ridiculously tasty classics for just a few bucks and they do it extremely well. They have bunch of options on their menu such as burgers, hot dogs, 3 kinds of fries, pulled pork, gyros, chili, milkshakes...oh yeah, and don't forget the ice cream! We went with a burger and fries which were spectacular. The fries, no joke, possibly the best we've ever had. They were perfectly fried and salted, and impossible to stop eating. The burger was cooked perfectly as well and served on a yummy toasted bun. Simple and delicious. We finished up with the "Piece of Cake" ice cream, which had huge gobs of yellow cake mixed up in a vanilla chocolate swirl. We also tried the black cherry which was top notch. The setting at Del's is also great. It's basically a spruced up shack with picnic tables on the side, and some indoor seating as well. As with nearly everything in Rhinebeck, it really takes you back! Wish I could give this place 10 stars. Amazing. read more

This place looked cool as hell when driving by, as you can see from the pics, classic roadside Americana, so I had to stop in. Unfortunately the look was the only legit thing about it. Millionaire buys dairy farm then decides to open food service, money doesn't buy you love or aptitude. Out of half of their menu. Soft serve not working. No bacon on my burgers or blt, no discount offered. This place is a joke, clueless staff and clueless management. TLDR: Slow service, poor product. I'm not sure why people say this place is good. I stopped by for a milkshake on a Saturday evening when they weren't busy. There was a guy already grumbling that he had waiting 20 minutes for a small scoop of ice cream. I probably should have left. I waited 20 minutes for a cookies and cream milkshake that was ALL MILK, no thickness whatsoever. I paid $1 extra for hard pack which is supposed to be thick and creamy, but it was literally like drinking straight milk with practically no cookies in there. To their credit it did have a fresh milk taste, but they have no business trying to make a shake and charging $7+. I was thinking of going to Five Guys in Kingston instead to get a milkshake, but decided against it to spend my money at a local spot instead of a chain. I would have been better off going to Five Guys, their milkshake is thick, as in you can turn the cup upside down for 30 seconds before the contents start to move. read more

I'm willing to bet that this is the best milkshake in the state. Possibly in the world. Del's makes a peanut butter shake that, surprise, tastes like peanut butter and ice cream. Not syrup, not frozen yogurt, not snow cone, not Nickelodeon Gak -- just the advertised ingredients. Curiously enough, the thing manages to carry both the flavor and texture of a real milkshake. Fun stop on route to Hudson. Hamburgers were excellent and chocolate on dip ice cream seemed to be better than we have had before. Try the slaw. Service was great. Menu was surprisingly extensive and we were sorry we did not have room to try more. read more

Sometimes I just don't feel like sitting through a long dinner in a regular restaurant, so I called up my trusty yelp on the smartphone, and lo and behold, Del's. Now, their reviews were hit or miss, but we found Del himself to be a charming older gent with a lovely accent hailing from the same region of the world as my husband... they chattered for a while about the old country. And I took the advice of a previous yelper and tried the peanut butter shake... spot on. Barring those at the 4H stand at the Dutchess County Fair, this may indeed be the best shake on the planet. 2 Mediterranean wraps later (so not common, fried type ice cream stand food, more like Everready Diner quality), and we were off. Del's rocks, his food is great, and his peanut butter shake is out of this world. We will be back! read more

Good ice cream. Terrible burgers and customer service. Went there for ice cream a few weeks ago. The staff was very bothered that they were closing in 20 minutes and had to make us 2 shakes. Much complaining going on behind the counter. The Ice cream itself was great so we figured they had a busy day earlier. Went back today for the burgers They got my order wrong. When I asked for it to be corrected the manager first had to compare what I ordered with the cashier. Then they bluntly admitted they did not have the menu items I ordered so they just left them off my burger. In return for the missing items they were gracious enough to give me literally one small lettuce leaf and a thin tomato slice. The burger was also over cooked like a hockey puck. Will not be going back to spend $30 on 2 crappy burgers. I'll drive to Holy Cow for ice cream. At least they treat their customers with respect. read more

My boyfriend got food here in October 2016 and he ordered chicken tenders and fried mushrooms. The tenders were overpriced and he only got 2-3 little ones not even full big tenders. Because of the over priced bad food we will not be coming back. read more

Beyond terrible. I wanted to pay for someone elses ice cream as a pay it forward (someone had recently done this for me). They literally said "no". I asked why and the lady just walked away from me while someone else got my ice cream. The other worker shot me an "im sorry that person is rude but im not sure what to do about it" at least. Where to start. First waited 5 minutes to have our order taken. Ordered the fried mushrooms and they tasted nasty and cold like they were frozen then thawed out. After eating we got a chocolate shake and a lemon ice. The chocolate shake was so thick it wouldn't go up the straw. I asked if try could make it thinner and the older lady looked at the cashier like I had two heads. After debating on what to do they made me a new one. This one was too thick as well. I commented that I had a chocolate shake in Kingston by Adams Fairacre Farms and it was thin and tasty. The older lady said well we are not Kingston and we have never in the history of Dels had a complaint about our shakes. I said well there is always a first time for everything. As I walked away she made a huff. I decided why give them my $3.50 and I asked for my money back. The older C U Next Tuesday gave the shake back to me and was like we made you two shakes and your asking for your money back. I said yes. She then gave me a hard time. Finally I got my money back. When I commented about the customer service she gave me another hard time. It did get under my skin so I cursed and left. I did mention that I would tell 100 people not to come to Dels and she said why don't you post it on the Internet and the front page of the news paper. As I got in my car she wrote my license plate down like she was a police officer ready to give me a ticket. Wow what great customer service. We were a customer for about a year. Every 2-3 days the whole family swings over for sundaes. This day we were helped by a rough grumpy man. He made a mistake and assumed chocolate and peanut brittle when my son asked for a strawberry sunday with everything. Then he went on to refuse two different flavors of ice cream in the same sundae. I stepped forward to help my son out with the order and the man told me I needed to eat this even if I didn't want it and he wasn't going to throw it away. I said my son had allergies to peanuts, and the other doesn't ever order chocolate. He said he didn't care and that I should eat it then or give it away..but he wasn't going to remake it. I told him he was being unreasonable and I still had 4 more ice creams to order and I come every couple days and order the same thing. He said he didn't care if I came every day and ordered 10, he didn't want to serve me. Thank GOD! It was DEL himself. This experience made my life so much better. I went to Holy Cow down the road and realized they are 25% cheaper, their crowd of 60 people was being handled by 6 very friendly staff and it was fast and they have every imaginable combinations, including caramel walnuts in addition to peanuts!
