The food is good but not great. There are a few desserts that are worth trying. The sauces are good as well. The staff can be great but some of them should look for a different line of work. First of all our server Maki was the best! She never left our drinks empty, she checked on us at appropriate times where it wasn't overbearing or where we had to search for her, and SHE is what pushed my rating to 5 otherwise it would've been a 4 because of the food and price. Now onto the food. We came on All Meat Mondays and boy did we indulge. We started off with onion rings and deviled eggs. The onion rings were good enough to share with 3-4 people and we absolutely loved the deviled eggs. We got the 4 meat with brisket, tri tip and 2 of the ribs. The brisket was a little dry, the tri tip was good, just a touch dry and the ribs were great. Cornbread was a little dry. As for the sides we ordered the cheesy hominy, (texture wise it threw me off and it was too starchy), the tri tip chili was good, would've been great with some sour cream, the street corn and greens were great. We should've just stuck with those instead of upgrading. As for the dessert, I should've went with what Maki suggested, but I like warm desserts with ice cream. We got the bread pudding and she was right, it would be great with a sauce. A great sauce would've been the sauce they put on the blondie at Applebees. Plus the ice cream scoop was rock solid we had to wait for it to melt a bit. I was really excited to try this place out. But if I'm being honest, it's not that great. Food was okay 5/10. Brisket and sausage were on the dry side. And the onion rings had no meat! Hideout is right!!! Del's Hideout is tucked among other businesses and apartment complexes. Found this place scrolling through our phones for Cohn restaurants. We definitely would have missed it if we were just driving by. Loved being greeted effusively by Alicia the second we stepped inside. It wasn't just us. She greeted everyone that way. She also checked in on us , so she was quickly on hand to order additional Texas Toast for us. We asked what her favorite menu items were and brisket rolled off her tongue like that delicious sweet tea they serve. We wanted this meal to double as a late lunch/early dinner, so we listened carefully to how Alejandro responded to our questions about menu items. Between the two them, Alicia and Alejandro wisely spoke highly of the brisket as their favorite meat item. Every item was cooked or prepared to perfection. No joke. The fries were very crispy and a large portion. The green beans were nicely cooked they were freshly cooked whole green beans which had a good texture, not the mushy canned type. It's around a quiet road right off the freeway, easy to get to. We went on a Sunday around 4:00pm and parking was easy. Walking in, it wasn't busy at all and our party of 5 was able to be seated right away. Our server and the food runners were friendly & efficient. We ordered off the restaurant week menu and got an appetizer, main course and dessert for only $25! And for a few more dollars, you can get a bbq plate upgrade. Our food came in a timely manner. We had the onion rings, brisket chili and BBQ loaded fries to start, then for the main course, the TJ burger with fries, BBQ sandwich & BBQ plate. I haven't found a place to quite measure up yet, but Dels was a good contender. They have whole corn in their cornbread which made me happy. The meat was tender as well.
