Absolutely horrifying! Even one star is too good for them. Recently had the worst experience while flying with Delta. I went on vacation November 6th. It was only the second time I have ever been on a plane, so I was a little nervous about flying. Everyone I know warned me that Delta is one of the worst airlines to fly but i thought to myself "what could possibly go wrong?" Well, it all started with the flight out of O'hare which was delayed due to a maintenance issue. That is all we were told. So, there we sat on the plane, waiting, while some type of part was installed. Who knows what was going on, they really weren't telling us anything. So, the part was installed, and then there was another delay before taking off. Seemed like we were just driving around in circles. Again, who knows what was going on since we weren't being told anything. Call me crazy, but, as far as the maintenance issue was concerned, isn't that something that should be checked out BEFORE you start loading passengers on the plane? Second part of the problem, the flight attendants. Not very personable or helpful. I was supposed to catching a connecting flight in Salt Lake City (which I wound up missing) and it was a tight layover of 35 minutes, so naturally I was concerned. I started asking questions about what would happen if I missed my flight, etc. and she basically just rolled her eyes and kept referring me to the app. I politely explained that I didn't have the app and that my phone was dying, so I had no way of checking what flights were available. More eye rolling. Then she asked where I was going to (Boise, Idaho) and she laughed right in my face. Excuse me? Did I say something funny? Here was a passenger who was obviously nervous and needed help and this was the best you could do? Roll your eyes and laugh in their face? So, she offered to let me use her phone charger but lectured me that I must be very careful with it and return it as if I was a bad child. I was on a plane, thousands of miles in the sky.. Just exactly where did she think I was going to go with it or do to it? I thanked her but declined. I wound up missing my connecting flight, but was able to get on the next flight out, so I had roughly a 2 hour wait.
On the return trip back, layover in Seattle, then from Seattle to O'hare, yet another delay. More of the same- wasn't really sure what was going on, all we were told was that the flight was late. Well alrighty then! I will say though that at least the flight attendants were a little nicer on this flight. Eerily robotic, but pleasant enough.
Overall, this was a very stressfull experience. As I mentioned before, this was only my second time flying. To be exact, this was the first time in over 20 years that I had taken a vacation where I actually went somewhere, so I was really looking forward to it, and Delta pretty much ruined part of that experience for me. Lesson learned, I will never fly Delta again. read more
