Another review for Delta Airlines, this time flying into/from the Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) at the end of August/beginning of September in 2026. There is one daily flight from/to Los Angeles on Delta, and the times worked a bit better than flying to Miami. Ended up working well as the flight to enjoy the week-long cruise from Miami on the Icon of the Seas. It's about a 5 hour in-air flight between the the two cities, so Delta uses one A321(N) with Miami/FLL flight attendants. I'm guessing it's primary a flight for cruisers, and we followed the standard path. My wife, her mom, and I were traveling from Los Angeles, meeting my brother (who was flying same day from Houston) in Miami. So the three of us planned to come one day early on the 08:20 - 16:17 LAX to FLL direct. The same plane is then used to go back to LAX (17:30 - 19:56), which is what we decided to take for our return on the last day/night (this did mean a 8+ hour wait at the airport, since the cruise ship rooms need to be vacated in the early morning). I ended up booking the 3 round-trip tickets about 4 months early, spending about 34,000 miles per each Classic Main roundtrip ticket (Basic would have been cheaper, but would have meant no chance for upgrade and no entry into the Sky Club). I check regularly to see if the price goes down, and this time it was worth the effort. Two months before the flight, the price went down about $50 each, so was able to redeposit about 5,000 miles each back into my account, all doable via the Delta website. The flight from LAX to FLL was uneventful, with automatic upgrade for the ladies to Comfort+. Free wifi worked well, and got my free Dots pretzels for being a Amex Delta Reserve cardholder. The flight back was not full, so ended up getting upgraded to First Class for my wife and her mom a couple days before the flight (what's nice is then you are able to choose a meal beforehand). My wife upgraded her seat (which I ended up using) from Main to Comfort+ for $49 the day before. I ended up having the row (3 seats) all to myself. The flight left almost 3 hours late, because of lightning storms in the area. There were people on the flight who missed or were about to miss their connection in LA. One person was trying to get to Sydney and would probably miss it (since even if they got there on time, their checked bags would probably not). Later learnt that international flights do not allow checked bags to be flown if the owner is not on that flight. The opposite is allowed however, with the passengers flying without their luggage (a special exception is made for that same luggage to be flown on a later flight to join their owner). read more

I try to fly Delta as much as possible. When given the opportunity, it is my airline of choice. years ago I was medallion level and that's always a nice perk. Now I have the Delta SkyMiles, American Express, which gets you a free checked bag for not only myself, but one other person flying with me. In the day and age of flight travel that's a great perk. Delta is one of the very few airlines that allows all passengers to take a 22" carry-on, and a personal item. Definitely makes traveling a little more comfortable. The flight from flight from Fort Lauderdale to Raleigh was delayed 3 hours. They did notify me via email and text way in advance. Communication from Delta was excellent. The gate agents were nice, they emailed all passengers $12 food vouchers for the delay. I lost my day in Raleigh and the baby behind me cried the whole 2 hours. Some things are out of your control and I'm thankful Apple makes noise cancelling headphones. read more

Back in June we traveled to Georgia & flew on Delta for the first time in probably a decade. I can honestly say that the gate crew was the most accommodating crew I've experienced in a long time! Our daughter has a very manageable & foldable travel wheelchair (powered) & they made sure they could store it in the cabin vs underneath the aircraft. Never in our 22 years of traveling have we been made this offer. It was refreshing to have an airline make an accommodation without requesting it ahead of time. Thank you! read more

Our flight got delayed multiple times and then cancelled and then automatically rebooked. It made for a LONG and expensive day. We had planned on leaving FLL right after our cruise. But our final end time we ended up departing around 8 pm..... We were tired and ready to go home. And then once wve got loaded, we drove around and sat in the plane for 40-50 minutes before we actually took off. We literally had 4 minutes to run from that plane to our connecting flight. They had closed boarding when we got there ATL to DEN but thankfully they still let us on as they had not quite closed the doors yet. UGH. Service was good. Plane was clean. Like that there are TVS on the planes so you can have something to take your mind off the flight while you sit there. There were SO MANY SICK PEOPLE from ATL to DEN. Literally everyone around us was coughing and sneezing YUCK! If you are sick stay home or wear a mask if that is not possible. My party was masked even though we were not sick. It is absolutely disgusting the amount of people that dont even cover coughs any more. read more

It seemed like they didn't have enough people working the counter. Glad we came early. The flight boarded and left on time. They offered us biscoff cookies and goldfish. I have flown Delta for years and this last arrival into FLL was very nice. First of all, on the plane, I was approached by a flight attendant, who thanked me for being a Million Miler with Delta and for the loyalty to the airline. That was very nice to be acknowledged. The service in Delta Comfort was nice and prompt. I love their potato chips and honey cracker snacks. Arriving into FLL was easy. This was an odyssey. I am stressed, irritated, upset, angry, sad, disappointed, and much more right now. If I can possibly help it. I will never use Delta Airlines again. I was leaving from Fort Lauderdale airport. My flight was changed over 15 times. t think that is absurd. Twelve hours before my flight. my flight gets canceled. I had to take the alternative flight option they gave me which was my only option because 12 hours was not enough time to get another flight and I was not going to pay triple for this flight. I thought I could finally breathe again and everything was fine and then it started again with the emails alerting me of another delay. Four long delays later and me patiently waiting. I finally got my trip started. Unfortunately, more delays and another schedule change that gave me just less than 20 minutes to get from one side of the airport to the other in Georgia made me missed my connecting flight. FLL to ATL Our flight was delayed for over 4 hours in Fort Lauderdale for a layover in ATL. Our flight time was changed six times due to some maintenance issue. All passengers have already boarded then all of a sudden we had to deplane. I hate when this happens and it makes me nervous when I experience this because of my experience with another airline during my travel to San Antonio TX during the Christmas holidays... one airline I won't mention with the slogan "You Are Now Free to Move About The Country." Once everyone deplaned we were given a card with Delta customer service number to rebook our next flight. My husband dealt with customer service and we were given a later flight time so we would have time to catch the connecting flight from ATL to home in SMF. Delta sent us a $30 voucher to use for purchase of food in the airport while held up during these delays. The airline may be good...maybe They left my baggage in DTW even though the tag said it was a transfer and to take it off the plane. I stopped at luggage baggage service and spoke with Anastasia where she took my info and filed a report. They stated that it was on the next flight and it should be delivered in the evening. I tracked it on their app and sure enough, it arrived at FLL around 5 pm. The status on their app stated it was being set up for delivery. Yeah right. The following morning still not baggage. Around 8:30 am they stated on their app it was again being set up for delivery. Nope Around noon I used their messaging service and was connected to Wynter. She was as useless as breasts on a bull. They could would not give me the number for the baggage center and they would not reach out to them. Again useless. So I called their customer service and spoke with Jasmine after being on hold for 40 minutes. She said she spoke with them and the baggage would be delivered in 6 hours. She said if not to call them back. At 7 hours (8 pm) I called them back. I was on hold for 90 minutes. I explained the issue they were having. She called the FLL baggage service center (so 9:30 pm). She tried several times but no one would answer. I told the agent that I need my luggage as I was flying out with Delta the following day and needed tk do laundry. She understood my frustration and assured me that someone would be there if I drove down to the airport. I dropped down and got to the luggage service center at 10:33pm to find out they went to lunch and would not be back until 11:15 pm. Wow...over a 30 minute lunch. Sign me up. So here I am...waiting for Delta to get their head out of their....and give me my luggage that they lost but should have been delivered 30 hours ago. read more

We had a bad experience with customer service agent Pree. We had a flight change for an international flight that made the layover absolutely impossible, only 45 minutes. She gave us an attitude from the moment we got on the phone, even though we are both very loyal SkyMiles members. We kindly explained that we have Travel Insurance and that we got an email stating we could be rebooked on a different flight for no cost, she called it a one time exception. What ever happened to Customer Service? We had to go back and forth with her for ten minutes before she made the exception. We felt like she was being extremely rude to us by trying to say that the email was incorrect. read more

Update : it's 5:41 am take off was supposed to have been at 5:30 am and they just told us after boarding everyone that they can't find our pilot and they can't give us an estimate as to where he is or how long it will be. By the time we get to board they tell around 20 people that there is no space in over head bins for our carry on luggage so they will have to check them in. Once we board there were plenty empty over head bins that could have been used. Very unprofessional and just plain ridiculous. Checking in priority went pretty smoothly despite the long line. The turnover was pretty fast and the actual checkin process was swift. The lady at the counter was friendly. The only reason I have flown on Delta is because of my mom booking flights for me. She has so many miles so she uses them to either fly to me in FL or me flying back home to lga. The only problem I have encountered over the years is their delays. In fact, this flight was delayed two hours due to an inch of snow in NYC. The flight attendants are usually friendly and hospitable. Their website is easy to navigate. The prices are usually more expensive than other airlines but sometimes it is worth it compared to bare minimum airlines. I recently flew on Delta and it has been years since I last traveled with them. I was introduced to those amazing Biscoff cookies because of Delta and purchase them every so often at the supermarkets. They provide you with non alcoholic beverages and snacks during your flight. You can also purchase alcoholic beverages, meals, and snack packages in flight. Since I left my headphones at home and did not want to pay a paycheck for them in the airport, I was anxiously waiting for the flight attendants to come offering them. Unfortunately, they don't come around until you are on the plane for 30+ minutes so there goes finishing a movie in flight! They were $2. I knew they charge for them now but it was nice when airlines used to offer them for free. This flight was one of the best I ever had. I have probably flown minimum 200 times in my lifetime (pop's family in Europe, transplant from NYC, and hubby from Toronto along with vacations) and you will not hear that often from me. The pilots made the ride smooth. There were no rude or obnoxious passengers (unheard of). No screeching kids or kids kicking my seat. The couple next to me were cool and friendly. We flew with Delta yesterday from Ontario, CA to Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Everything was exceptional. We loaded the plane without any problems and took off on time. We arrived 18 minutes early. The seats were comfortable and you get free WiFi to watch movies, television, etc. They give free earphones to everyone. Snacks and drinks were as expected (same as all airlines). The staff was friendly and I couldn't say enough nice things about this airline. I will fly Delta again. read more

I cannot recommend the Delta hub in Fort Lauderdale. We arrived at the airport 'too early'. We had to wait in a holding area before getting in line to check in for our flight. Was told the new remodel did not give Delta enough room for baggage so they have a different process. Note to self: do not fly Delta out of FLL. Flew into FLL from ATL on Delta Airlines now a days who has anything nice to say about any airline? I do. It's been many years since I have flown Delta. This trip was for business and it was a pleasant surprise. Beginning with the flight crew in Atlanta who got me on an earlier flight at no extra charge. Great seats and I even got to sit with my work colleague. The time flew by quickly and before you know it we were landing early at FLL. So why not a perfect 5 rating you ask? Well you know when you fly and they want to take your bag as the overhead bins are full? So obviously since I was able to get an earlier flight I boarded last. They took my bag and my colleague's so you figure last taken first off? Or yet again they give you the bag when you are getting off the plane? Nope so we go to baggage all the bags come off nothing. You go to baggage services they don't know where the bags are so they take our information and will deliver them once they find the bags. So my colleague and I leave to get on the rental car bus. Once onboard we get the call and have to get off the bus as miraculously they located our bags. Hey no biggie no harm no foul. Definitely would be more than happy to fly them again, just won't ever relinquish my bag to them lol! read more

I remain consistently pleased with the service and performance of Delta Airlines at FLL. I'd love them to be a lot cheaper though. $450 for a round trip on Delta compared to $250 on American? Ouch. The ticket counter had more than enough agents working today with every station open. The gate agent had a helper to get the boarding process moving along. Our Sunday flight from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta was cancelled and we were able to reschedule to Monday. I am thinking it must have had something to do with COVID. So, I am calling it the 24 hour variant. Just don't understand how everything could change within 24 hours but so glad it did as we are ready to get home. At the new & improved Delta Airlines terminal today on my way to Atlanta. This terminal is 90% remodeled. The center area has a few spots for new kiosks but the surrounding area has three food vendors, one bar and one bar between gate D9 & D8. All new seats have been installed with cup holders and plenty of phone charging stations. Plenty of room between the seats facing each other, now you won't trip over luggage as you walk through the aisles. Airlines are an easy target, building up negative one-off stories of issues. But positive stories don't for good content. I had yet another great trip in Delta though, and thought to add it to the opposing reviews. Why was it great is actually a number of reasons. First of all, we took off early. Yep, sounds unheard of, I didn't even know it was possible. The captain said everyone was on board so we took off. Pretty cool I gotta say. Also the service throughout the voyage was top notch. It didn't hurt that we got ice cream bars, and through some kind remarks, I got an extra ice cream bar. The key to my heart. The usual comments from the cockpit were kindly stated and seemed to be more informative than normal. Overall there was no negative moments. Even the boarding process was smoother than I'm used to. Flew to NYC La Guardia (Delta 1326) back and forth (Delta 2559) a week ago an I feel correct to compliment Delta for their professionalism, cleanness, respect for the customer and overall quality of service. It is really convenient to pay 20$ or 30$ dollars more and fly with Delta instead of the 2 cheaper competitors. Starting that Delta includes a "personal item" and a carry on. Then do the numbers. His personnel on board is happy and attentive. Not worn out and abused as I have experienced personnel is in other cheaper competitors. LGA Delta terminals in NY are renovated and state of the art. Wow, talk about 2 individuals who have no idea what customer service is. Leroy Williams and Carla Thomas, who were at the departing gate of flight #DL800 from FLL to LAX. Carla, was rude and loud about it, clearly possessing no people skills. Watching her deal with the customer's was disgusting. Leroy, was even worse talking down to people and just rude to whomever he interacted with. No actual complaints once we boarded the plane, the onboard crew to LAX was awesome. Too bad Carla and Leroy were how we were introduced to Delta. 2 stars not 1 because, the crew onboard towards LAX was A+, however, the crew from LAX to FLL, was not rude, but cold and noticeably not into their job, oh well at least they were not rude. read more

My wife and I have been customers of Delta Airlines for the past 12 years. We have never had any problems with them when COVID came around, we still used them. But this time around I have my doubts about them. We came back from a trip to Phoenix this past Wednesday(1/4/23) and what a nightmare. We were supposed to get in to FLL at 6:23pm, which was a perfect time for us. We sat in the cabin on the tarmac for quite awhile because they didn't have a pilot. Needless to say they called over the intercom for us to deplane and check with the staff as to when we can get another plane. This is where the nightmare begins We were told that the next flight would have to be on standby or we can wait for the next morning for a flight. Needless to say we took a chance on the standby. With luck we were able to get on a flight bound for home. Now you think this story has a happy ending. Not so. When we got to FLL we went to the baggage carousel for our bags. Not there. We went to the baggage office where they looked all around for the bags. Yes you guessed right. The bags were in Atlanta. Luckily we were told that the bags were found and delivered the next day We are very disappointed with Delta and we do not plan to use them in the future. read more

First time flew domestic from LAS -ATL-FLL by Delta as I usually fly Southwest and Allegiant airlines . I was very impressed the service offered by Delta , compared to other carriers I frequently fly . First , Delta offers free carry-on and personal items , which is a plus these days . Secondary , the staffs are more friendly , both at the gates and during the flights . Free drinks , ear bugs , snacks were offered and flight attendants also make sure offered another around of water before landing was very impressive during the four hours flight . The in-flight screens were great way of keeping you entertained . The Boeing 757 and 737 are all up to date late models which make easier entering and existing . The Delta app is a great way of tracking your luggages and they even offered free carry-on check-in service at the gate when the full flights were expected . My friend is on flight 1401 Jan 27 and they got in early. Unfortunately the gate had a plane parked there. Of course because they were early. No one can pick another gate. I originally booked a flight using the air miles for 45,000 miles. I had to change the flight so I would not have to go through Atlanta, Minneapolis or Detroit for fear of getting stuck there. That jacked the points up to 82,000!! The worst part about it, is that everytime I call Delta have to wait over 2 hours to get someone on the line or get a call back! One time I requested a call back after 3 hours I got a call and the girl said hello 3 times and then it disconnected with no way to call her back! So I had to call back again wait another 3 to 4 hours this time the girl somehow transferred me to the Spanish line and no one else ever picked up. So I called back again requesting another call back and this time I never got a call! Delta used to be a great airline, but lately they lack! I'm only flying with them because I have so many miles! My flight was canceled at the last minute. The alternative option I was automatically rebooked on was the least logical alternative to my original flight given the available alternatives I found when I proactively rebooked on my own. The airline did not offer proper compensation for the inconvenience or the 40 mile cab ride I needed to pay for in order to get to an alternative airport to make it home. If Delta is unable to deliver on its reservations, and is unwilling to pay fair compensation for its own failure to deliver, it should not be in the business of operating an airline. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Delta delayed my flight three times only to cancel it at midnight. Heard the pilots joking around that they get to go home for the rest of the evening. Delta rescheduled me for a 9 AM flight the next day after having me sleep on an airport floor. Thank God I checked the app around 5 AM and Delta canceled my 9 AM flight for the next day and booked me at a later flight at 1:44 PM without sending me any notification. I had no other choice but to spend more money on another airline to get out of Atlanta Georgia. Delta refused to give me a hotel room even though they canceled it. It's really convenient because Atlanta is a big hub for Delta and you can find a flight almost every hour or two out of fort lauderdale or atlanta. We haven't had any problems or delays. We started our journey at the Fort Lauderdale airport. Very organized for International travelers. The young guy at the counter was extremely helpful trying to sit us all together in a completely full flight. At the end it wasn't possible but at least we were near each other. We had a connecting flight in Atlanta and same experience for both flights. Both on time, they were able to store our dresses (for the wedding we were attending) without a problem. Flight was on time, staff was very friendly and ready to help in whatever they could. From Atlanta to Prague, since it's a longer flight, we got complimentary drinks. Including beer and wine. We also got dinner, your choice of chicken or pasta. I chose the pasta, a plate of tortellini with a cheese sauce - not bad... On the side you get a 'house salad' with Italian vinaigrette dressing, bread with butter, crackers and cheese, and a chocolate chip Blondie for dessert. A whole meal! Once we're done with dinner they prepared the aircraft for 'bed time'. If you're not sleepy or can't sleep on a plain, you can chose to see another of the movies they show - 3 total and a couple of TV series. In the morning you get breakfast... Warning! Stay away from the English muffin with egg, it tasted like cardboard. Thankfully they also included a banana and orange juice plus your choice of coffee, tea, water, etc. On our way back home flight from Prague was delayed... They gave us the option to book a later connecting flight for us but we really didn't feel like staying more time than needed at the airport. Needless to say we had to run that airport to make our flight but we managed to make it and so did our luggage. I didn't sleep on the plain this time so movies it was.
