Steel city breakfast and Philly cheesecake omelette
    Matt R.

In the heart of the strip district this was a good move. We were seated right away. There was a gentleman going around refilling the waters which was a really nice touch for a diner. We ordered the following: the Philly cheesecake egg white omelette and Mancini cinnamon swirl bread. Cinnamon bun pancake with cinnamon swirl icing added chocolate chips. I also had the Steel City breakfast with French toast on Italian bread which was excellent. For a diner, this really does hit home and was a good experience. Food was fresh and hot and our waitress was animated but serious when we asked for food accommodations for a serious food allergy.

Great diner, definitely a pgh institution! Ona late Sunday morning, Delucas was a lot easier to get into than Pamela's, though the wait time to get your food can get pretty crazy. The staff are super friendly, and once it did arrive, the pancakes are as big and yummy as expected. The kielbasa was also a stand out, with the coffee being the classic, good diner kind, pretty solid diner breakfast but not sure if it's worth a super long wait

This place came highly recommended from a native of the city. I'm visiting for the first time and asked my friend for a rec on a good diner. I know this city isn't East Coast, but it reminds me of a good East Coast diner. Whenever I go to a place, I like to look at negative reviews to anticipate hiccups. None of those reviews held true. The service was great. The food was excellent. Again, not East Coast but the ambiance was of a genuine diner, which for this Texan was a big draw. It was comforting to bask in a place that was busy and cramped, but operated like clockwork. It was impressive to watch. The coffee was warm and constant. The wait was minimal. The waitress recommended the French toast and it was excellent. Eggs over easy were slightly overcooked, but steak came out fine. Could have used a bit more seasoning on the steak, but it still was a great treat. Prices weren't outrageous, especially considering the portions. It was slightly inconvenient to have to pay with cash, but there are multiple ATMs nearby. I also like that this was in the Strip district, so lots of cool stuff to see around there. Excellent choice and I hope to go back!

South of The Border Omelette- Delicious and hearty. The salsa is also tasty. It slightly gives chili cheese dog vibes 4/5.

Classic diner in the heart of the strip district. The foods delicious and portions are large. I've included some pictures of the last time I went. The seafood omelette was especially delicious! Would highly recommend for a breakfast stop when traveling to Pittsburgh.

This diner is a down home Pittsburgh must visit. The wait staff seems like they have been there forever. The food is quick and you are in and out in no time. The portions are hearty and the food is hot. We love visiting this cash only spot each time we are in the burgh. If you come early enough you can get a spot on the street not far from the restaurant. This diner looks just like I imagine it looked years and years ago. It's a great throwback.

Food was delicious, freshly made and came in large portion sizes. Ambiance was old diner, busy, pretty organized Service was to the point, efficient, nothing particular stood out

Want a yummy greasy spoon place that's going to leave your heart content? If so, then this is the place. I finally made it to DeLuca's and, surprisingly, there was no wait (this is the type of place there's a line for on a weekend). We sat down right away and our waitress brought us waters and coffee. The menu is extensive, so we had to take a few minutes to decide. I opted for the Swedish crepes (with ricotta cheese) and a side of eggs and bacon. Absolutely. Delicious. My friends had the cinnamon bun pancakes with vanilla ice cream... I had a bite and they were so good! Overall, this diner (which has counter seating) is a must visit. DeLuca's has a good vibe and is great for families and meet ups. I'll certainly be back!

Got a taste of everything! First time here and everything was tasty and fresh. Lots of menu to look at, inside is tight quarters and decently loud on a weekend morning. Servers were nice and food came out pretty quick for how packed it was. Blueberry pancakes had lots of flavor and came out hot along with the rest of the Steel City Breakfast. The Huevos Rancheros was a gigantic plate of food, topped with their famous Spanish sauce which I wanted to take home in a gallon jar. It was so good.

A true Pittsburgh classic. After talking about DeLuca's for years, I was so excited to finally take my husband and it did not disappoint. The classic diner feel is part of the charm, and even though the place is always busy, the staff keeps things moving and the food comes out relatively quickly. I am a big fan of their pancakes. They are definitely a must-try. DeLuca's lives up to its reputation and is well worth the visit if you are looking for a great, old-school breakfast experience.

DeLuca's is pure nostalgia in the best way possible. It's no-nonsense, cozy, and full of old-school charm. I loved the classic counter with stools and the tables decorated with local ads--it feels like stepping back in time. The portions are huge and the food is delicious--honestly, the scrambled eggs are some of the best I've ever had anywhere. We really enjoyed the open kitchen, and the highlight was when all the cooks sang happy birthday to someone--it made the whole place feel like a community. One tip: it's cash only, which caught us off guard, but there are several ATMs just down the block.

If you like a traditional breakfast in a great location, DeLuca's is worth trying! I'm more of a modern type of breakfast person, but was willing to give it a shot! The omelette's were fully stuffed and the potatoes were actually delish. It wasn't too busy for a sunday in the strip and we appreciated the fast paced service as well!! My boyfriend likes the conventional style, it's just not my preference.

It was such a good time. The philly cheesesteak was delicious (I got it with no cheese though), great onion rings. I got decaf with non-dairy creamer, everything was good. A fun vibe, talkative waiters, and attentive service. The food selection and vibe is not for everyone, but if you're looking for a diner, it does the job.

Deluca's is a staple in Pittsburgh. No frills dive restaurant. The service is good and I enjoy the food. Be prepared for a wait but it typically isn't too long. And also bring cash as this is the only form of payment accepted. Lastly, the sitting area is close but not uncomfortable.

It was a typical retro-vintage stop inside, and I was forewarned by the veteran waitress they were open only for the next half-hour. I reassured her I was not planning to stay long. It must've been the end of a long shift for her because she was grumbling to the busboy about the other waitress who decided to leave early. This other woman, clearly the 'Kiss Mah Grits' type, alienated me by calling me Mr. Miyagi and cackling about it to the rest of the staff. I thought I might be expected to recite lines from "The Karate Kid". Instead I ordered the $11.25 Grilled Meatloaf Melt, which came with quite a slice covered in fried onions and melted Swiss cheese barely held together by the toasted rye bread. It was on the greasy side, and the fries were dried out (Photo 10). What would Mr. Miyagi say? From the second we walked in, the atmosphere was so charming and nostalgic, right down to the unbelievably reasonable prices. It's the kind of spot that instantly makes you feel comfortable and keeps you entertained the entire time you're there. We sat at the bar and were greeted right away with coffee and water while we looked over the menu. One of the coolest parts was being able to watch the food being prepared right in front of us - the entire vibe of the room felt lively, authentic, and honestly hilarious at times. Between the conversations, the energy behind the counter, and the overall ambiance, it genuinely felt like dinner and a comedy show wrapped into one. We ordered the vegetable omelet and the pancake special, and both came out piping hot and absolutely delicious. Everything tasted homemade, fresh, and comforting in the way classic breakfast spots should. You can tell this place has character, heart, and a loyal following for a reason. This is truly one of those spots that deserves way more attention and is 100% worth stopping into if you're in the area.
