    Chocolate chip banana hotcakes...sooo good!
    Jonathan A.

Great breakfast spot in Pittsburgh. They have great food, good prices and service too. Parking isn't free, but there is lots of parking nearby. They have a decent amount of seats so it's not hard to get a table. I absolutely love the hotcakes and get them every time!

This place is fire!! Super cute interior with the throwback games and posters. Love the quick but filling diner experience with hearty classics and hot cakes. A plate of omelette and blueberry hot cakes were $25 total. If you're looking for something simple yet worth the price then look no further!

This P&G Pamela's Diner is in the Oakland neighborhood. It serves eggs, omelets, hotcakes, French toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, burgers, lunch sandwiches, wraps, salads, and non-alcoholic drinks. I visited this restaurant for breakfast. A seating hostess promptly greeted me and told me where to sit. Soon my courteous waitress took my order. The wait time for my foods was reasonable. I ate the croissant French toast, which consisted of croissants soaked in cinnamon-vanilla egg batter and topped with caramel sauce and nuts. It was very unique and flavorful. I also ate a side of strawberries. Please note that the waitress will bring your check, but you must pay up front at the cash register.

These are a must try for people visiting Pittsburgh and the 50s diner vibe is very charming. You're not coming for aesthetics though, you're coming for the bigger than a tigers head pancakes. Thin, crispy edges and a buttery coating made these absolutely delicious. The lyonnaise potatoes are also a revelation in richness and luxury. One point of because defacing these amazing pancakes with fake maple syrup was sad. Real maple syrup would've brought these to god tier.

I love everything about this restaurant, the service was nice and checked to make sure we had everything throughout our visit. The pancakes are so good and the sausage as well. The vibe was a nice diner vibe and ambiance so cool. I totally recommend this place. There may be a wait, however, on a nice day there's plenty to walk around and see before they text your table is available.

Very good food. The service was quick and the ambiance is friendly. This place is packed with college kids. Here visiting my hometown to see the Steelers play. A must try

As good as it gets, for diner-style breakfast fare. Wait times can be lengthy as this is such a popular spot and right on the fringes of the University of Pittsburgh campus, but do not let that dissuade you from giving it a go! The wait staff was attentive, and the coffee pots flowed continuously throughout our visit. My wife and I each ordered a breakfast platter, and we shared them both. Wife's traditional breakfast consisted of the usual suspects of eggs, potatoes, bacon and some very unusually thin pancakes (which turned out to be the star of the show!). I ordered a plate of corned beef hash which came with over easy eggs and buttered toast. They practically had to roll us out of there after the meal, but man was it worth it!

Great service and all around nice spot to have breakfast. This location is conveniently located near the university and had a nice vibe. All the staff were superb and service was very fast. The hotcakes are lighter than what you would expect- which is a good thing. Food quality was high and the prices are very good. Would definitely recommend!

The best breakfast in all of Pittsburgh! I love how thin their pancakes are and I especially love the chocolate chips in them. You also much get the potatoes. It does get busy on weekends so prepare to wait for a table but the service is quick and friendly.

The Speckled Egg provided the upscale and elevated breakfast, that was a nice contrast to the rustic and local breakfast we had the next day. Our waitress was friendly and professional. After some deliberation, I went with a bowl that included eggs, chicken sausage, sweet potatoes and a nice garnish of dill. The dill surprisingly elevated the whole dish. My wife enjoyed an omelette. Coffee was also quite good! Nice start to a day of sightseeing! (The restaurant staff gave great advice about the nearby tourist attractions)

He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).

Amazing flavors. My daughter got the croissant avocado toast which she loved. I also got a pistachio latte and was pleasantly surprised to see the used pistachio butter and not a syrup. The cool vibe restaurant is tucked away up a short flight of stairs on Filbert Street. It gives the place a cozy, hideaway feel with brick walls and murals. We also ordered a sweet crepe to share. It was beautifully presented with chocolate drizzle, berry sauce, and a massive pile of whipped cream. The coffee is solid too. But the star of the show for me is the Shakshouka. I have gotten it the last 2 times I went. You also have to try their Dirty Chai. My only critique is the hostess at the front. She appeared overwhelmed by her role and was not warm. We were actually told by the waiters that "she is serious about her list". Which would be great if she managed it effectively. When I brought concerns that we had been pushed down the list 3 times for other parties. She responded "well, how do you know that" to which I responded "we watched you take their names down after ours and sit them before us". Her response was to shoo me off and tell me to go find a table myself; to which I did. But what a poor way to manage your stress, responsibility, and consumers. On the bright side my waiter/waitress was awesome per usual.
