This is a Pittsburgh staple that I'd recommend for visitors from out of town -- it's located in an old pharmacy (that's still in operation) and the nostalgia doesn't disappoint. I make a point out of going to Pamela's at least once every time I visit Pittsburgh, but this is the first time I'd been to their Millvale location. Big Lincoln Breakfast is where it's at for Saturday morning breakfast to go. Still cannot get over how fantastic their pancakes are, even take away. We were able to seat ourselves at one of their many booths and our orders were taken promptly! According to this business's website, Lincoln Pharmacy opened in 1928, and its soda fountain became known as Lincoln's P&G Diner, which was named after the employees Pamela and Gail. Almost a decade ago, I wrote a 2-star review for this restaurant, and I said that my husband called his omelette "disgusting" and that "I will never return to a Pamela's ever again." Well, apparently I decided to visit this restaurant again, and my experience was much better, so I am increasing my rating to 4 stars. On a busy Saturday morning, my husband and I waited in line before a table became available. The seating hostess and the server Scott were very polite and performed their jobs well. The menu listed foods such as hash, omelettes, French toast, waffles, BLT sandwich, hotcakes, burgers, grilled-cheese sandwich, milkshakes, and sundaes. Please see my photos for the menu in June 2024. Scott promptly took our order and brought out our beverages and foods. I enjoyed my banana-walnut hotcakes, sunny-side-up eggs, Lyonnaise potatoes, and bacon. My husband enjoyed his root-beer float, ham-cheese omelette, Lyonnaise potatoes, and bagel with cream cheese. I was in the mood for diner food and decided to go to Lincoln's as I had never tried them before. At first I could not find them and drove past them as they are in the same location as a pharmacy. There are signs for the diner but they are not very clear. Parking is an issue as there is not a lot of parking around, And the diner was packed and there is another diner directly across the street. I went in once I found the place and there was a line to get in. There was 3 other groups in from of me and the place was packed full. I waited a few minutes and finally I sore a person to ask if I could sit at the counter. I sat at the counter and I have to say the service was not great at all. I sat down and it was a while before any one came over and asked what I want. Finally a server came over to ask what I wanted to drink and then got drink and then I did not see him for about 10-15 minutes when he came to take my order. I finally ordered and it was very busy but the server was not attentive at all and there where many other servers that seemed just fine with he amount of people they where taking care of. I finally got my food and yes it was hot thank goodness. I ordered 2 eggs over say bacon and home fries. The eggs where good and cooked perfectly same with bacon it had a good taste and was cooked fine. The home fries where a different story They where not good and I did not really like them at all. The food was good and I would normally give 3 stars for that but the service was terrible and that awarded them 1 stars so over all I give 2 stars which is generous. Lincoln's Diner is cash only so do not forget to bring cash. They do have an atm machine if needed. Overall I have to say the parking is a nightmare and the service for me was atrocious. It was like having breakfast at Pep Boys. The first thing you notice is that it smells. They have a pharmacy next to the eating area and there's no walls between them, so the whole place smells like a dentist office. It's loud as there's no walls separating the kitchen, so you get to hear a lot of clanking and crashing. The food isn't any good. The pancakes are paper thin and have the texture of burnt hash browns. They don't have white bread or texas style bread, just wheat bread and italian bread, neither of which make good toast. Their hash browns have onions and a sour flavoring in them and are awful. It's also expensive. A meal for two came to over 40...for breakfast food. Pamela's is a Pittsburgh favorite for good reason: An old fashioned diner with amazing hotcakes and a good variety of brunch favorites and lunch sandwiches to boot. Lots of food, heavy meals, cheap. Cash only. We went to the Millvale location on a Saturday morning with a group of seven and had just a 10-15 minute wait. The Millvale location is larger than other Pamela's locations, partly because it shares a space with a pharmacy and a litany of Pittsburgh and Steelers paraphernalia. Adds a bit of local flavor! At Pamela's you must try the hotcakes. They are much like crepes in their thin, crispy outer edges and fluffy, chewy middle. They come with a dollop of butter and honestly I don't usually add syrup. I find they are delicious enough without it. Almost like dessert for breakfast. Nothing like them anywhere I've ever eaten! I also love the omelette at Pamela's. I got the chorizo omelette this time and it is a huge plate with a pile of potatoes, a dense omelette, and toast. Get this for brunch and you will not be hungry until dinner. My wife tried the burger this time around. Not bad for sure, but not quite as special as Pamela's brunch eats. Oh. My. Goodness. I have lived in Pittsburgh for almost three years. I live less than 10 minutes away. I never knew this little treasure existed. Looking for a place to take visitors for breakfast that wouldn't pull me into the city during the marathon I found this on yelp. There was a line. Three families in front of me and the line was less than ten minutes. Energy was fantastic. Food: delicious and SO MUCH food. I ordered the banana walnut hotcakes and could barely finish one! I can't stop thinking of how yummy they were. The staff was so friendly and efficient. I noticed how they all worked as a team, plates cleared quickly. I didn't feel rushed at all. We were told by locals that this was the place to go. So go we did. We went to the one just outside of the city as recommended. The place is rather large, 1/2 restaurant and 1/2 pharmacy. We were greeted, seated, and handed menus. This seems to be a place locals hit because a of the waitstaff was on first name basis with most people who came in. I ordered the Banana Walnut hotcakes and she order a veggie omelette. it did not take too long for our food to come out but that was the last time our waitress visited our table. Since the place is open we could see the counter and where the food was being prepared. if you were a local the waitress would come to chat and refill drinks. I had to ask a passing waitress twice for more coffee while our waitress was behind the counter chatting with other staff. The food was OK Nothing really extraordinarily. What the menu calls hotcakes are really Swedish Pancakes (ie crepes). Mine was just cut up Banana with walnut bits rolled up. I ended up having chunks of banana for 1 bite then another bits of just the crepe. The potatoes were very dense which you could see by the pile of potatoes on the grill. They would just cut off a chunk of the diced potatoes. My wifes omelette ,again, was just average. The waitress, who was not our original one, came to pick up the plates and chat. This place is a Pittsburgh must-do! (Millvale is in general, but that's a different review) Perfect old-school diner with a welcoming, progressive and inclusive vibe which we love (for example, a large Pride flag is prominently behind the counter, quotes from Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the wall) They have a cool soda fountain menu and yes-a pharmacy - but really a general store - to get ALL the Pittsburgh gear and some Tylenol if you've come after a late night. I am a big breakfast person, and usually I hit Pamela's. I am not exactly sure the association between the two but they are related in some way. We didn't have a wait but if we did it would have been much nicer waiting here inside the warm diner and shared old school pharmacy than waiting outside at the other pittsburgh breakfast places. I had the chorizo hash which was awesome and you cannot skip out on the hot cakes which are extra thin with crispy edges. I do not typically order pancakes out but these are different and special. Service was great, brought us our own pot of coffee and switched it for decaf when we wanted. The wait staff is good about wearing their masks and are really friendly and engaging.
