Deluca's is an upscale Italian Deli /Sandwich shop in the Glendale Galleria. Well matched to its upscale shops and the Italian restaurant next door, Delucas offers pricey, tasty sandwiches and paninis in a relaxed atmosphere. I came on a sunny Saturday afternoon; the interior is upscale, open, with products in the shelf and a menu written on the wall. I made my way to the front to placed my order, with the staff friendly, but not effusive, who made a couple suggestions at my request. I ended up getting the Fig and Pig Panini ($16), which was absolutely excellent, featuring slow-roasted pork, white cheddar cheese, and sweet pieces of fig and fig jam on thin, perfectly crispy piece of thin, toasted ciabatta bread. A perfect combination of sweet and savory, this was as good as previous Yelp reviews suggest, but was tragically quite small (see attached photo). With it I ordered an iced cappuccino ($5.25), which was good, especially with a cinnamon sprinkle on top, but quite small for the price. Unfortunately, over half of it was foam--more than expected even for a cappuccino-style drink. The interior was clean but quite busy. I had to wait about 15 minutes for my food, and the restaurant appeared somewhat understaffed, with many tables needing to be bussed and cleaned. Although I was warned of the wait and the tables were cleaned about 10 minutes in, for an upscale establishment like this, I would hope for more consistent upkeep and slightly more staff. Prices, above, are a bit elevated and somewhat disproportionate to the quantity of food provided. However, given the ritzy, popular setting, they are not entirely unreasonable. If you're looking an upscale, delicious Italian sandwich in the heart of the Glendale Galleria, you'd be hard-pressed to do better than Deluca's. I visited this location on a Sunday. It was busy and there was a line to order. I greeted the cashier with a smile. She just looked at me and said how can I help you? No hello or smile. Was not expecting her to go above and beyond in providing customer service, but a smile would go a long way. For drinks, I ordered Affogato as you can see in the picture. It looks like anything but the drink I ordered. It was a Luke warm regular coffee with maybe 2% or fat free milk. Cappuccino and iced latte were good no complaints about them. For ambiance, this location is located in Americana with a nice indoor and outdoor sitting area. There is plenty of seating inside. Since it was hot, I preferred to sit outside. I am not sure maybe the day I visited this location's staff was having a bad day or something. Since everything went wrong. lol I will give them another try and will update my review . For parking, Americana parking is an option and the other option is Glendale Galleria which is a short walk. read more

Walked past this spot many times at the Americana and finally decided to give it a try. Safe to say I've been missing out. Deluca's feels like a proper Italian deli with fresh sandwiches, pastries, soups, pasta, and shelves full of imported Italian goods that make you want to spend way more than you planned. I ordered the panino al pollo and added pesto, which was absolutely the right move. So flavorful and satisfying. The fiery steak sandwich was also really good, and since it was chilly outside, we paired everything with their bell pepper soup, which was different from what I usually go for but surprisingly delicious. My partner and I have came here a few times when shopping at the Americana. At this point, this spot is probably our go to for a quick and excellent meal in the mall. The deli is very cozy and homey feeling with large wooden tables, and a large display of items. Much of the menu is written on a large chalkboard by the door. On my most recent visit, my partner got the Caesar panini and I got the chicken parmigiana. Both sandwiches came out fairly quick, and it's clear that everything is made fresh and to order. The space is cute and casual, and there are a couple tables as well and curated Italian products for purchase like olive oils, vinegars, and various spreads. You order at the counter, and if you're dining in, you'll get a number and they'll bring the food to your table. Their sandwiches are fantastic I tried the Panino al Pollo which consists of blackened chicken breast (slightly spicy), cabbage, avocado, tomato, parmesan, and light mayo. I'm here to rave about this Italian sandwich spot. I've been to the Americana countless times, and the fact that this was my first time trying it is honestly upsetting. The sandwiches are delicious absolutely delicious. We ordered the Panini Deluca and the Bird & Brie. The Deluca had just the right amount of spice, while the Bird & Brie with green apples and fig spread was one of the most amazing flavor combinations I've had in a sandwich. They were sold out of the pistachio spread, but that just gives me a reason to come back next time. Service was fairly okay; we waited about 15-20 minutes for our order to arrive. I studied their menu that was written on the wall and narrowed it down to 2 choices : pulled pork sandwich and the fig and pig. I asked the lady working the cash register and she said the pulled pork sandwich is spicy and fig and pig is sweet and savory. I like spicy food so I went with the pulled pork sandwich. The sandwich turned out to be like a meat ball sub flavor wise. It was not spicy at all. In fact, it lacked spice and overall flavor. It tasted one note: tomato sauce. I later talked to a server and he said the pulled pork sandwich is not spicy at all and next time I can ask them to add a spicy aioli. I also found the meat to be really fatty. I didn't even have my food yet as I'm writing, but I can't stress enough how great the service is here. We ordered wine and beer but had to go to the outside portion to drink it but were met with a bunch of people who took all the seats but haven't even ordered. The workers noticed and went outside and kicked the losers out and gave us a table and grabbed an extra chair for us. That level of badassery deserves a great review. A perfect sandwich spot for a warm day at the Americana. It was my first visit, and I appreciated how the salumieres are slicing fresh meats and cheeses right as you walk in... everything looked (and tasted) super fresh. I had the Prosciutto Stracciatella sandwich with imported Parma, tomatoes, arugula, stracciatella cheese, balsamic glaze, and house-made pesto on a toasted baguette. The prosciutto and stracciatella pairing was next-level... so flavorful. Not a huge sandwich, but shareable. My date agreed the bread was toasted perfectly and the ingredients were top-notch. This was my first visit to Deluca's Deli, and unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. From the start, the staff seemed indifferent. When we approached the counter and asked for suggestions, the employee showed little interest in helping us. We ordered the fiery steak sandwich, which was disappointing -- the portion of steak was minimal and sliced paper-thin, leaving the sandwich underwhelming. I also ordered the #3 pasta, expecting a creamy sauce with corn. At the deli case, we asked whether it should be served hot or cold, but the employee simply said, "I don't know." We chose hot, but when my order arrived, it was the wrong pasta. When I pointed this out, the cashier became irritated and argued with me about the number. After checking the deli case myself, it was clear the pastas had been mislabeled. Instead of apologizing, the staff laughed about the mistake. Eventually, I was handed a cold pasta. When I reminded them it was supposed to be warmed, the employee begrudgingly microwaved it, rolling her eyes and acting annoyed throughout. Immediately when I walked in, an employee greeted me with a smile and assisted me. I would say customer service is great. Now on to the ambiance and food. I ordered the Panino Prosciutto e mozzarella sandwich. Which was delicious and refreshing. On my sandwich was fresh mozzarella, imported prosciutto with sun dried tomatoes on a toasted baguette. The bread was light and crispy with every bite I was able to taste everything on my sandwich. I must say it was pretty good. I also, had a side order of the Insalata quinoa salad with , red onions, white quinoa, edamame, toasted almonds, chopped kale and a lemon dressing. I really liked the ideas of the salad. However, there wasn't enough t dressing for the amount I was served and had no flavor to the salad. I was a little disappointed because it did look pretty good be good the glass. Had the Panino agli Affettati Misti sandwich from here. Assorted cold cuts. It was a pretty good sandwich--one of the better in the area. I would definitely get it again, and I want to try out some of their other offerings. Someone grabbed the sandwich for me, so I can't speak to the ambiance or anything about the inside of the deli. Which raises my one nitpick about the place. Their website stinks. It's not the worst site I've ever seen, but it's less helpful than yelp to see what's available. There were a lot of little issues with it, but the big one was trying to figure out things like what soups they had available. Since the site was the only contact/interaction I had with them, besides their sandwich, I didn't have the best impression of the place. Have you ever had the experience of absolutely loving some place and then returning and seeing it a bit differently? This is what happened to us this weekend. I love the menu at Deluca's. I would appreciate more non-meat offerings but there is a lot I can enjoy on its list. We just wanted sandwiches because we planned to grab dessert next door (separate review coming up next). The quality of the food is exceptional. The retail Italian merchandise is authentic, reasonably priced, and thoughtful, such as artichoke pesto and olive and basil tomato sauce, and a wide variety of handmade packaged pastas from the old country. So far, so good. The disappointment this time was in the service, which was terrible, and the cleanliness. All the tables need to be wiped down. The window was clean and the floor was as well. So, food: 5 stars; service: 2 stars; hygiene: 4 stars. One more word about the service. This was a rare time when we left no tip. I am a big tipper, almost always 25% when the treatment is good since I know what servers earn. This time, they got our order wrong, started to clear away our take-out containers as if they were to be disposed, barely grunted at us, and were generally unsmiling and terse. The place was not unusually crowded. Management needs to do a bit of customer-care-smithing with its personnel. We will return because it is in beautiful, upscale, delightful Americana and the food is delicious. We always snag a table. The staff was too the point and just taking the order but not friendly. We ordered a cold Turkey sandwich with provolone. We decided to take the sandwich and eat outside of the Americana. Hit this place on our way to LAX and was my first time at the Glendale Galleria. It was pretty warm inside and I asked if they could cool it off a bit and I guess the AC was having issues that day. Needless to say we still enjoyed our meal. I got the "Pigs and Figs" sandwich and my friend did as well. We both loved it. My daughter loved her lentil soup as well.
