Years ago I ordered a full tuxedo from Black Lapel (for my own wedding) and they did an amazing job. It not only fit perfectly but was well made and the customer service was outstanding. Following this experience I continued to order shirts from them over the years. Recently I ordered a suit (and more shirts) from them and the customer service and clothing left a lot to be desired. To begin, my order of a suit with an extra set of pants and two shirts was split in half because they wanted to confirm my measurements were still accurate. After trying on my tuxedo, and confirming it still fit perfectly, they still insisted on splitting the order. I also asked for a small additional interior pocket to be added and was told they were unable to accommodate this. Seems odd for a custom clothier... I was told they'd make half the order and, once I confirmed everything fit, they'd make the other half. To my surprise, some 6 weeks later (I was told 4-5 weeks for arrival), my suit and a shirt arrived. Ok... is it really that big of a deal to hold the extra pair of pants and additional shirt? Those seem like much smaller items compared to a full suit. But, again, after confirming the fit, I waited for the rest of my order. After multiple inquiries by me, asking where my items were or for even a tracking number, I was still waiting. Now don't get me wrong, they responded, they just literally gave no helpful information: "Let me check on the delay..." Finally, 8 weeks later, my items arrived. Much to my dismay, however, the pants don't fit the same, do not feel like the same material, do not have a button on the back pocket, and are completely different interior construction (see picture). When I contacted them about this, which you can do via email only, they said "we recently switched manufacturers and this is likely where the discrepancy lies with your fit and finish." Well, that's the first time I'd been informed of that... not to mention it could have been avoided had they made the entire order all at once like I originally requested. Additionally, the additional collar stays I requested were not sent (despite being reassured that they would be). When I responded saying I'm disappointed and am questioning ever ordering from them again the have gone dark on me. They literally can apparently care less. So please, take my advice, DO NOT order from Black Lapel. It pains me to say it, but I strongly recommend shopping elsewhere; I will be.

I wanted a slim-fitting three-piece suit in dark blue that was made from durable, high-quality fabric and would come in under $1,000. Thank you to Reddit for turning me on to Black Lapel as a trustworthy option. I worked with Michael at the Boston shop to tailor the fit just right, and felt like I was in good hands with an expert who had helped hundreds of men like me. The shop is easy to visit, up the stairs from street level in Downtown Crossing. Scheduling an appointment was very easy, as they have a lot of availability, and communications were great. I had no problem receiving my suit when placing the order two months before the big day, even after experiencing a small delay when my chosen fabric was briefly out of stock. Never would i have ever thought I'd find "THE" dress in the hidden gem that is DK Bridal & Tuxedo. I've been to David's Bridal, and a tons of other upscale "top of the line" boutiques, most of which tried to force me into a dress I didn't love or had snobby employees, putting it nicely. Natalie from DK Bridal was super patient and took the time to look at all the pictures i had on my Pinterest lol and most importantly to listen and see my vision. None of these are the actual dress I chose, but suffice to say I tried on a few different dresses and with each one she offered her thoughts, but never in an overbearing or obnoxious manner. She treated me with the same dignity as if she were my family or friend of many years which means the world during this process, so thank you for that. Just as I thought I was settling on a dress, the one of my dreams peaked out from behind others and although it wasn't my size, Natalie helped me try it on with excitement and boom just like that she placed an order for it to come in my size, get the show back on the road and check one more thing off my "To Do List!" Due to religious reasons, my arms needed to be covered and my gown was a sweetheart cut. They patiently allowed me to bring in different bolero options to try on with the dress, until I found the perfect one. Not once did they make me feel like I was a bother, having them retrieve my dress from the basement each time until I paid off my gown in full. Diane was a great consultant and patiently helped me choose the right bolero and crown. To top it off, my husband and I switched our wedding date to an earlier one with my gown already being ordered. Everything worked out with me paying a fair rush fee and receiving the gown well before the wedding. No organization is perfect as the day we scheduled for my pick up, my gown wasn't ready (it wasn't yet steamed). I believe he forgot to write it down but it was ready the next day! This was fine as he did say that I should give myself some time for pick up. My Matron of Honor also got her dress here and we loved it. No complaints. We went through multiple fabrics and designs until we found the perfect mix. There were multiple options from there on including cut, style and I even got to pick out the interior fabric of the suit jacket which has my name stitched into it! With my suit picked out Vincent then arranged for my groomsmen to come and have a 'suit fitting party' himself and his wife Samira provided us with drinks of our choice (beer/wine/mimosa's etc) and food while everyone picked out the perfect cut, interior linen and personalised names in their jackets. My groomsmen and I couldn't be happier with how everything came out. I could'nt believe that i could get a custom suit cheaper than buying from a store!
