This place sells donuts? I just thought they sold empty metal racks. What time do you have to get there to buy donuts? I've been there as "late" as 10:00 am and they have 5 donuts left on the rack. And they close at 6 pm! What the heck are they selling from the hours of 8:00 am (when they sell out) until 6:00 pm? Kudos to them for being an independent donut shop, and their donuts are better than Dunkin's, but jeez try to have some donuts on the shelf for at least some of your hours of operation. Went to Demet's Donuts on Friday 2/11 to buy a dozen donuts for the people at work. I asked for a dozen donuts, and the counterperson pointed at the overhead sign behind her without saying a word. Not knowing what that meant, I indicated that she should proceed. Before filling my order, she rang it up and pointed the POS display toward me. The total displayed was $28.20. It was 5:45 A.M. and since I did not have time to go anywhere else, I said okay, all the time thinking I could call later in the day, after the morning rush, and clear this up since this must surely be a mistake. When I called, I spoke to someone who I assume was a manager. He informed me there was no mistake. Donuts are $2.35 each no matter how many you buy, and they no longer sell donuts by the dozen. There was no signage of any kind to explain this new practice. It was left up to the poor counterperson, to explain the new pricing, and to handle any complaints. I have been going to Demet"s for many years, often on a weekly basis, until covid hit. I had planned on resuming this practice, but that is no longer the case. Really impressed with everything I have tried so far. At first glance Demets looks like a Dunkin knockoff, but don't let that fool you. The donuts are made in house everyday! They are fluffy, moist, and flavorful, and everything that Dunkin is not! The coffee is also great, and they have some unique flavor shots you can add as well. The breakfast sandwhiches are pretty yummy as well. Just don't forget to bring cash!! The service is always quick, and very friendly, which makes a huge difference in my book! read more

I didn't get here until 2:30pm so there were only the leftovers. I decided to get a sampling of all the ones I could get except the jelly because I don't like jelly donuts even if they're the best. They were all very crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside...very messy! The chocolate old fashioned was a little too sweet for me, but it was also the most exiting out of all of them (I told you there was nothing left). I enjoyed the coconut the most...the plain old fashioned was eh you know....plain and super dry. I look forward to trying the other softer varieties at the top of the mornin', during my next trip to Boston. read more

The owner is always willing to add new items to the menu and ask their customers opinions. The staff is top notch, super polite and friendly. The tables are always clean and the long lines in the AM go by really fast. That is efficiency at its best. If you are in the area, do not pass up a chance to visit Demets. I decided to come here a couple days after going to Union Square Donuts in Somerville. Demet's has been around for a while but I feel like it's over looked a bit because it looks like a run down Dunks. I had gotten the chocolate glazed donut and the chai latte. The donut was fluffy, not greasy and I probably could have eaten 2 more. The chai latte was frankly better than Starbucks, and I'm obsessed with their chai. I just had the BEST egg and cheese (on a bagel) that I've ever had. The egg was so fresh, and the cheese wasn't overpowering. Their coffee is flavorful. It is well worth the little extra to seek out Demet's (rather than settle for the chain donut shop down the street). Oh, and the donuts and muffins are great, too! Did I mention the friendly service? When my wife and I lived in Malden, we used to frequent Demet's 5 or 6 times a week. The awesome staff used to have our drinks working as soon as we walked through the door. Not to mention that the breakfast sandwiches are second to none. They only use fresh eggs and they make any other "fast food" breakfast place look awful. I heard about this place recently and since I was heading to tufts area i figured that i would seek it out. I knew basically how to get there but haven't done a lot of driving in this area, mystic ave, so it took a few attempts to find it. It was easiest when I simply followed mystic ave around tufts instead of cutting through somerville, i couldn't seem to find mystic ave or stay on it... So i found it, and as i pulled in a medford cop was walking to his car with coffee in hand - setting the scene. As I entered the counter and display is to your left and there are booths to your right, along the window. There were a handful of people sitting and talking, average age was 65. This place reminds me of the something from the 70's - definitely a place that is a piece of history. It was late in the day so there were not a lot of options, to be expected, but I was lucky to find a chocolate coconut and a glazed cake. I saved them for the next day's breakfast. I was very happy - these don't appear to be mass produced - so tasty. They are the classicaly, good cake donuts which are moist, rich, dense and delicious. If I lived or worked i would stop here on the weekends or if I needed a pick-me-up. I will come back to try others when I am in the area or need something sweet, I am curious about their glazed, raised donuts - expectations are high. I am glad that a place like this is supported and successful and hope that the future business model is one that is similar to this - handcrafted products that are made with love. read more

Awesome local donut shop. Family owned and operated, I love to patronize local business in my area. Even if they didn't offer a product far superior to DD, I would still go out of my way for one of their donuts. However, the fact of the matter is that they bake their delicious donuts daily. It's always a good sign, albeit frustrating sometimes, when you come here later in the morning, most of the donuts are sold out. I highly recommend if you are in the area. Walked in on a Thursday morning around 10am and the place was pretty packed. Bumped into a friend of mine and sat at the counter. Asked him what was up with all of these people in the booths. Everything about this coffee shop reminded me of Dunkin' Donuts. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great, and the parking situation was awful. You basically have to go out via part of the sidewalk and the parking was very limited. I really liked the honey bran muffin, especially when they heated it up and put butter on it. Yum. The coffee I got was very weak (vanilla spice) and after a few sips didn't taste like anything special. Prices were okay and service was just fine. I wouldn't want to deal with the place during a busy time of day though. read more

In a never-ending quest to find a place that serves up old-fashioned donuts, we stopped by Demet's. While we're not sure anything will ever match a Marty's Donutland hot honey-dipped donut, Demets came VERY close. The staff was friendly, the coffee (iced and hot) excellent, their prices won't break the bank, and a dozen assorted donuts didn't last too long with our taste-testers. My SO and I have been going to Demet's regularly since June, and it continues to grow on me. I can vouch for the claims of delicious donuts, breakfast sandwiches with real(!) eggs, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. Some specific kudos: - SO and I bought a maple bar this morning and EVERY bite had cream in it. If you get there before the Boston Kremes run out, those are delicious and always seem to be super-fresh. - Staff are not just polite, but proactive; if an employee sees you heading to the bathroom, they will punch in the key code for you if they're nearby. Also, a gentleman who I assume is the manager stopped by our table to ask us if everything was all right, which is above and beyond for a casual, counter-service breakfast shop. My only caveats are as follows: - A lot of donut flavors run out fast, so if selection matters to you, get there early! - It is cash-only, which isn't an issue if you know that ahead of time. They have an ATM there, but there is a transaction fee to use it. - The Demet's mascot looks like the Forever Alone guy. Then again, some people might see that as an asset. I can't actually review the donuts, just the customer service. I have been hunting for donuts safe for my whole family (soy allergies). When I came in here (late morning on a weekday so as to be out of the rush) and asked "what type of oil do you use for your donuts" they went into what was obviously a practiced schpiel about their oil instead of actually listening to the question. When I did get them to pause, and asked what was the specific vegetables in their vegetable oil, they got defensive and instead of answering my question kept saying that they can't be liable for cross-contamination in their suppliers. Long story short, no we can't get donuts here, and I wouldn't want to with that response.
