Beyond delicious food . This is what all food experiences should be like . I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY . I would jump in joy if I wasn't destroying my food . Amazing. The cooks 100000/10. Service was a bit slow and mixed up and missed a few things but he said they were understaffed . We've all been there , so no worries . He was SUPER kind and welcoming! Would definitely come again !! The whole place was clean and aesthetic. Simple . Lovely . Can't wait to come again !
Demiya has been in bookmarks for a while now and I'm so glad that I was able to try it. As others have mentioned, it's pretty tucked away in a plaza and unbeknownst to some (myself included) there's actually parking closer to their entrance - so slightly away from Ace Hardware and Los Pericos. The menu is pretty extensive and since you have to scan a QR code to view once seated - if you're dining in, it can definitely feel like you're scrolling away. I ended up getting the hamburg steak that had cheese! And I got a level 2 spicy, which I felt like had a good kick to it and that built up over time. Also important to note if spice is on your mind, is it's my understanding their level system only goes from 1 to 3. I really enjoyed my hamburg steak and the cheese was oozing out of it when I first cut into it! Yum yum all around. The side salad was also super tasty and I don't know what that dressing was but I am down to try it again. My friend opted to get the chicken katsu curry rice at level one spicy and she said that it still had a good spice kick to it! I'd definitely come back to try more of their menu. Love Japanese curry so I was excited to find a spot near home that opened up. Its nestled in the corner in a plaza and there's parking in the main plaza or you can drive down the next driveway and a smaller lot next to it. You can miss it though. A few tables to dine in or take it Togo. One the menu: Chicken Katsu Curry Rice Potato Croquette Omurice All the dishes were really good and presentation was appealing. Freshly made and filling. Only thing is to add veggies it's an upcharge and you can't sub. I didn't need double rice and prefer to sub half rice and veggies but overall a good meal. The chicken katsu was made with chicken breast which we appreciated since we don't really like chicken thighs as some other places make their katsu. The employees are nice and friendly and I can't wait to go back and try other things on their menu.
This restaurant is located at the hidden corner of a wear down strip mall without a big sign. Once I stepped in the store, the interior gave me a homey feeling. I enjoyed Tonkatsu udon that I ordered. The tonkatsu is tender and juicy inside while the battered outside is just perfect. The udon is also perfect, not too soft or too hard. The order also comes with a fried egg and some veggies. The portion is perfect for one person. The servers here are friendly. I will definitely come back to try other items on the menu. When I left around 7 pm on a weekday, the place is full with dine in customers and lots of people coming in to pick up to go. Demiya seems like a hidden gem in this wear down strip mall.
Accidentally stumbled upon this place while searching for a place to celebrate my birthday. It's a small place with outdoor seating just around the corner. Their sign wasn't up when we visited the place so we had a hard time finding it until we saw a restaurant full of people. I thought to myself, this must be it. My daughter and I had the tonkatsu curry rice while my in law and her friend shared a beef shabu shabu curry rice. My dish had the +2 while the others had +1. My daughter said +1 was too spicy for her so she only ate half. I finished mine. It definitely had a good kick.
Hidden in at the very end of a small plaza. Demiya does not have a sign outside so it can be hard to find at first. Very small space inside, but there is outside seating as well. Came in on a Thursday at lunch time and there were plenty of seats. I was craving some good comfort food on this rainy day. Inside, you scan the QR code and order through their website. My friend and I both got the soft shell crab rice curry. I did add +1 spice to mine and it was just the right amount of spice for me. They give you plenty of curry and the overall portion is perfect enough to fill you up.
Not bad! We had some trouble finding the place. It's hidden behind the Mexican restaurant, so would recommend parking in the plaza and then walking over. There is parking in the back area, but more limited. Seat yourselves, order via the QR code, and go up to the counter to pay at the end. I opted for the classic tonkotsu curry and a side salad. The mild spice level was plenty spicy in my opinion. The tonkotsu was meaty and has an even fried coating. The curry sauce itself was quite flavorful but a bit on the salty side, which is my only complaint. The side salad was fresh and I loved the citrusy dressing! Can see it getting hot by the windows on warmer days so would recommend sitting closer to the counter. On colder days, the curry will warm you right up!
We ordered takeout from this spot for dinner. Got a few tonkatsu curry, ebi, and buta doria. The level 1 spice was good. It had a nice kick and I could still taste the curry flavor. It was a bit liquid in consistency. The tonkatsu was nicely fried. The buta was cheesy and gooey. Good sausage creamy flavor. Very heavy. We were stuffed!
The curry udon was good, but lacked a substantial amount of protein. I got the spicy Tori Curry Udon, which was simmered chicken with udon, spinach, carrots, and a sunny side up egg in curry broth. While there was a lot of broth, the chicken portion size was not generous. The udon only has one spice level (the rice has three) and I'd say it's about a 6-7/10 on the spice scale--not too intense. Staff is friendly. Space is cozy & small. Would eat here again, but I am not going out of my way to return.
If you miss Japanese curry rice, you must check out this hidden gem in the city! This place doesn't have fancy décor, but honestly, the food speaks for itself. I ordered the Soft Shell Crab Katsu Curry Rice and was impressed right away -- the presentation looked great with two big soft shell crabs served on top. The crabs were hot and crispy on the outside, but tender and juicy inside -- clearly made fresh to order. The Japanese curry (I chose medium spicy) had just a mild kick, but the flavor was spot on. They give you a generous portion of curry sauce -- I even saw a few people taking extra sauce to go, which says a lot about how good it is! The friendly service made the experience even better -- staff were attentive and welcoming throughout. The environment is cozy and laid-back, and I'm definitely planning to come back to try more dishes. This spot is officially on my must-revisit list!
With hopes of trying Doria, it was not available when placing an order. Our visit was not a total waste. We ultimately ordered alternative items on the menu. First off, the curry is worth getting. Spice level 3 I personally enjoyed. The lady on the other hand says level 2 was spicy. It's subjective, but I personally don't think it's too spicy. It's just right. Tonkatsu over rice paired with the curry perfectly. Same goes for the Menchi Katsu as well. No regrets in adding Chicken Karaage! It was absolutely fulfilling. Worth mentioning (not a complaint) when opting for takeout a dollar charge will apply regardless the size of the order. Amex not accepted. Pleased with the food, but they forgot to include utensils, dressing on our salads, and nothing to compliment the karaage and may have been intended. Just feel the overall handoff could have been better. Great food no doubt, but missing the basics. An off day perhaps but will gladly return and try again.
Outstanding service. We were treated when we entered and shown to a table. Our order was quickly taken and our food was served as though they knew what we wanted in advance. The waiter kept our water glasses full. The restruant is fairly small. There are about 20 tables inside and 4 outside. Everything seems clean. My only complaint would be the music is loud. The katsu chicken was flavorful and moist. The panko crust was crisp. The accompanying miso soup, cabbage salad, edamame and rice all seemed fresh and not overly seasoned. The mapo nasu curry rice was delicious. It was loaded with ground curry. The serving sizes were large. Great value for the price.
We came on a Friday night and the store was actually really busy and lively. The food was decent I felt that my curry was actually a bit on the noticeably saltier side but I usually favor salty dishes. I got the mild tonkatsu curry and my partner got the hot chicken karage curry. I've had many tonkatsu curries from various restaurants around CA, I think this one isn't my favorite because some of my pieces were noticeably fatty on top of the saltiness of the curry. My partner thought his was alright and while he does have a decent spice tolerance, somehow the curry was too spicy for him. Overall it was alright, we were both a bit surprised, but now we know to try out a different curry that we may better enjoy.
Legit food, fast friendly service, but a little hidden. I really enjoyed dining at Demiya. I've been waiting for a legit tonkatsu place to hit the east bay, and I think we finally have it. My buddy perfectly described this as comfort food and I think he nailed it. There is nothing like some warm curry and a fried pork chop or chicken. This will be on my list of go-to spots 100! This was literally a hole in the wall hidden next to Los Perricos. It's a very small but clean place. Had the curry with chicken katsu with mushrooms. I ordered the regular spice level which was perfect for me . The curry had many savory layers as well as a slight sweet layer. Probably the best Japanese curry around here. The chicken katsu was very thick, moist with perfectly seasoned crunchy-crispy batter. There were other items in the menu that peaked my interest definitely enough for a trip back. Hidden behind Dublin's trusty 'ol Los Pericos is this Japanese curry spot. It's unmarked, very tiny, but served delicious katsu and curry. When we first came in, we noticed that there were about 7 tables and some only fit two people. Since its counter service style, some couples would sit in four-seater tables and that was a little frustrating as we waited just standing (no waiting area) in the middle of the restaurant. However, the Japanese chicken katsu and curry was delicious. My group had also ordered the karaage curry which was just as flavorful and tasty. Got a Yelp notification that Demiya was serving Japanese curry and getting notoriety so we headed there for a off peak lunch. Read some reviews from yelper Victor G. and ordered the Tonkatsu curry rice regular no add ons. Breaking it down the rice is cooked just right, the curry is flavorful and the Tonkatsu is thick and good. We also ordered the Karrage Chicken curry rice with a fried egg which was also very good. It is served with a spicy mayo. I originally wanted to try the Buta curry Doria but was warned it would take at least 30 minutes. So I passed. The meal was made to order and took at least 20 minutes just for the regular curry rice. The restaurant is on the far corner of the Ace Hardware shopping center next to the Taco store. They don't take CASH so we ordered a side of pickles $1 so $1.09 cc charge. Then got a can of soda so another $3.68 cc charge. It fine for me but when their credit card processor does an average ticket charge they will wind up paying a much higher rate. Service is minimal. Park on the side of the building. read more
Demiya is literally a diamond in the ruff, having no signage at either entrance, just 7477 in a former office space at the rear of a tacqueria. Small inside dining area is austere, little decor, just 10ish tables. Greeted courteously upon entry. Order taken, paid for. Food brought to table. Offerings: Japanese curry rice/udon, teishoka, toppings, drinks. Eats: Tonkatsu curry rice (15.50) mild with egg (2.20) -curry very spicy without heat of chilis. Pork thick portion with thin layer of fat. Authentic tasty curry, katsu version never tasted before. -fried egg added nothing to experience, just trying it. Drink: matcha milk tea (3.50) -heavy sugar content overwhelmed matcha and tea taste. Not worthy. Leftovers: -just ordering the basics would have been sufficient. The extras and drink didn't enhance eating experience. -curry is the definite attraction. All else pales in comparison. -small dining area, small kitchen. Curry is one of those dishes I can shamelessly make at home with curry cubes, so I will only order it at a restaurant if it tastes better than homemade. So far so good at Demiya's soft opening! Friendly staff, unexpectedly bright space behind Los Pericos, cashless only. Tonkatsu Japanese Curry Rice ($15.50): It looks quite boring in my picture without any toppings, but I enjoyed it regardless and didn't find anything missing taste-wise. I will likely order it to go next time so I can add my own sunny side up and veggies :P The curry to rice ratio was nicely balanced and satisfying. The Regular spice level is not spicy, +1 is mild (which I got, loved it), and it goes up with +2 and +3. My favorite part was the fried fatty ends of the pork hehe I am intrigued by the curry udon ($17), but I'm hesitant after trying it at Marugame Udon and it was so salty T.T I will definitely be back for my curry rice fix though! read more
This is a new place and working out it's routines. Food was delicious. Service was good. We came in and ordered at the counter. Yelp review said it's about 20mins wait as it's made upon order, it's was not the case. The items came 10 minutes after order. I think wait time depends on items you order. In my case of mapo tofu and kaarage, those can be premade. As for the pork chop order next to us, it took some time from their order to food arrival time. It looked amazing. Seating was competitive and tables were untidy bc the server is also the bus boy. There were too many cooks in the kitchen and not enough servers. As mention, give them some time to work out the imperfections. The food is good! Go support local business! read more

This was absolutely delicious! They have so many protein options to go with the curry. The service is fast and friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I love that you can choose your spice level as well. It goes mild, 1,2, and 3. I ordered a 2 spice level and it had a pleasant kick. I would like to try the 3 spice level next time and add veggies to the curry. The pork was tender and juicy. The curry was so flavorful. I am definitely coming back. Wonderful meal! read more

Came in on Friday night. The restaurant is inconspicuous, but crowded. It's tucked behind Los Pericos. If you know, you know. You order at the counter, given a number then sit down at an available table. This works most of the time except when it is crowded. The restaurant is one that is lit up with fluorescent lighting, so no ambiance. We ordered the following: Chicken Katsu Curry Rice 4/5 - Karage was cooked perfectly with good flavor. I ordered +2 on the spicy scale. It was good, but the heat crept up on me. The curry itself is a bit thin. I like my curry with a thicker consistency. I miss Curry House in Cupertino which offered the right consistency. I ordered a side of pickles which used to be complimentary at the San Jose locations. Mench Katsu 4/5 - Wife ordered this one. It's Japanese hamburger patty fried Katsu style. Cooked a little on the rare side but still good. My wife pushed the rare pieces aside. The last time we ordered this, it was cooked perfectly. Japanese beers 4/5 - they offered a variety of Japanese beers. They are a bit pricey at $11 each. Overall, I enjoy coming to Demiya. They will be on our rotation of go to restaurants. read more
If you're trying to find this place, you might have to look a little bit harder! It's located in the plaza, but it's behind Los Pericos Taqueria, so you'll have to drive to the parking lot all the way to the left past Los Pericos to find this place. It currently doesn't have a sign displaying the name of the store, but it's there! We ordered some katsu for take out. I ordered the chicken katsu and it was delicious! The chicken katsu was well cooked. It wasn't dry and it had a crunchy exterior. It laid in a bed of rice and they gave you another container with the curry that you could pour over to your liking. The curry was the real show-stopper and it really enhanced the flavor of the whole meal. You can get it in different spice levels as well. The inside of the store is really clean and modern. Overall, a super good meal and a great place and I will definitely be coming back! read more

I live in San Jose so I'm very familiar with Demiya. This new addition to the Demiya chain is in a obscure corner of a run down strip mall. The place itself is tiny and they didn't spend a lot of effort to make a fancy restaurant. The website and online order system is terrible. But eventually the order did go through. We arrived about 10 minutes before the curry doria was ready and seating was available. I'm not sure why but they are super stingy with things like chopsticks and napkins. The only drink is a a DIY water dispenser (same as both San Jose restaurants) Anyway the staff is friendly and handed over the food once ready. The doria was actually excellent. Great flavor, lots of chicken. cheese and sausage. It was hot even in the to-go box. It was a bit soupy but I think that's the nature of cooking in a covered aluminum pan. Overall it's good food, but the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired. read more
New curry spot right here down the street from home. I liked the food a lot! We got the beef and Yasai Curry over rice. The Yasai was packed with a ton of veggies - mushrooms, squash, potatoes. I also added soft tofu for an extra $2. The beef was just beef in curry, so it is recommended to try and get some additional toppings. Maybe some mushrooms or fried egg. Just to give it more substance. One down side to the food was that the spicy level wasn't what I thought. I got +2 spicy out of 3, and I didn't taste it. Maybe they forgot, or maybe that is truly the second highest spice level. The service was great here too. They were quick to serve everyone, and they seemed well prepared for the dinner rush. Food was pretty solid - curry was tasty, katsu was super crispy and tender, fresh veggies, portions were good! But the service was prettyyyy difficult:/ it was a struggle to get the cashier to understand what we wanted to order and we didn't even have any special requests or nothing. The dude was p frustrated...and we ended up getting the wrong order after everything HAHA. Curry rice is better than curry udon - the udon sauce is more watery like broth and can get bland. Location is a lil random in the middle of nowhere, but seating inside is nice and clean! read more
tried this place for the first time. nice place for japanese curry, friendly workers, small seating area but a good place to sit down and enjoy a meal. i ordered the chicken katsu curry rice and potato croquettes. ngl, the breading and deep fry was good and crispy but like other ppl, i also thought the chicken was kinda dry and in pretty thick pieces. you can however save it by dunking into the curry sauce. the curry is a bit watery than i like it but its fair and theres good spice there. the potato croquettes however, were very simple and i enjoyed a lot! $8 is for two pieces, hnngh.. but they tastes pretty good and had some onions inside as well. reminded me of eating friied onions while also enjoying potatoes. i prob would get that again. i tried to ask for some brown sauce, like tonkatsu sauce (?), to eat w it but they wouldve charged me an additional dollar for it so i declined haha. im from socal so i thought it was a given for croquettes to have a sauce w it read more

Juicy fried white meat chicken served with rice, salad, and miso soup. I really enjoyed the brown sauce that came with the chicken. This is a solid healthy meal and I would come back when I'm in the mood for some crispy fried chicken. read more
The service here is super quick. We got our food a few minutes after ordering. I ordered a chicken katsu curry, level 2 spice with a side of pickles(extra $1). The chicken katsu was a little on the drier side and they cut it in such huge chunks which I wasn't a fan of. The curry is a bit salty as well but I guess it kind of works out because the chicken is bland. The taste can get repetitive but the pickles really help and I would recommend getting them. The food here is just okay, there's definitely better spots like curry hyuga. read more

The menchi katsu and chicken katsu were perfectly crispy and comforting to eat. The soft shell crab was an amazing appetizer to start off with. The service was prompt - we had our food in about 15min due to all the full tables. 10/10, will come again for the food! This is a lowkey spot and hidden gem of Dublin! read more

4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars. Demiya is located in the same plaza as Ace Hardware. It's towards the back with minimal signage so might not be easy to find. Glad that other Yelpers have helpfully mentioned that it's behind Los Pericos, making it easier to locate. You came here purely for the delicious food as it's a no-frill place with minimal service. The tables are pretty closely packed together. You order at the counter, get a number, find your own table, get your own water and the food will be brought to your table. Despite being a cafeteria style place, it was very clean and the staff was courteous. I ordered Tonkatsu Curry Udon but the cashier put in Tonkatsu Curry Rice instead. She was nice enough to exchange to the correct order for me after I discovered the error when the food came. The corrected order came quickly. The only minor issue was that when she refunded me money for the incorrect order, she only refunded me the cost of the food with tax and not the tip I gave. I didn't notice until I got home. When I paid for the corrected order, I paid tip again so essentially I gave double tips. It's nothing major but seems a bit sneaky. Food was delicious! The curry sauce was nicely balanced, udon had a nice chewy texture, the tonkatsu's portion was big, the thickness of the breading was just right. The tonkatsu was crunchy on the outside and quite moist and tender on the inside. I also really liked the sunny side up egg which added another layer of flavor. It was a warm, filling bowl of yummy goodness! It's my first time here and I was impressed with the quality of the food. Would definitely come again! read more

So I tried Demiya again and this time I tried a different I had the hamburger curry and tonakatsu curry. It tasted way better must be the owner was probably there which made a difference. I think the food tastes better at the restaurant and not to go. Last time it was meh and this time it's much better. I'd wish the patrons would clean up after themselves as that is what is expected. read more
Delicious Japanese curry! I've now ordered both the udon and rice version. You cannot go wrong with either option. I've also tried both the pork katsu and chicken katsu. Good sized portions, crunchy on the outside, and tender and moist on the inside. If you can, try and eat there! It's even better to eat right away. The katsu rice comes with just the meat and curry and that's it. Add-ons as other have stated is additional $$. The curry udon does come with carrots and an egg in addition to the meat. The noodles were tender but still had a bite, perfect. There is seating inside and outside but might be a wait during busy times. The restaurant is behind Los Perricos and as others have stated, have no signage. Staff are friendly and efficient. I plan to be a regular! read more
I love Demiya!!! There are not that many Japanese curry places around here and I'm glad we have this one!!! Every time I go the flavors, texture, and customer service are always consistent. I love ordering +1 spicy since it's the perfect spice level. The restaurant is unmarked but not hidden and parking is stress free. There is indoor and outdoor seating, both fill up rather quickly but we have never had to wait for a table to open up. read more
We've been here several times & it's been very good food & service . You order at the counter & lots to pick from . I'm not a big fan of curry anything but this place has definitely changed my palate to definitely liking curry ! Buta Curry Doria was the only dish we ordered that evening b/c it was more than enough to feed two. Its cheesy goodness was absolutely delightful & YES! It takes about 20 minutes to make but worth the wait & it's made to order so it's piping hot yumminess . It does come w/ a small salad which is the right size considering the main entree is BIG!!! The chicken Katsu was from a previous visit & it was very hot & fresh & did try spice level 2 which is absolutely perfect for me but my husband likes spice level 3. He loves his spices. Demiya can be easily missed when you drive by . It's located in the Village Pkway area, parking is a tad crazy especially when the Taqueria is busy there is some parking behind Demiya. The Village Parkway looks old & run down but Demiya is a quaint & small clean restaurant. They offer some great beverage choices , the beer which is a Japanese import is pricey $11 but we always try different variety of beverages & cocktails which are either bottled or can . The staff here are very nice & professional. We've been here several times & have enjoyed each time . We will be back !!! read more

Is chicken breast used for the chicken katsu? My husband doesn't like dark meat.
From what I saw I think it is chicken breast. It's a huge thick piece of chicken. That's why we order the shabu beef instead
Is the Japanese curry made of vegetable of beef?
The curry is not vegetarian-friendly. In fact, there are zero options here for vegetarians unless maybe you put together a side or two.
