    Wanted to try something new and saw this on yelp. We got there after 1:30 but still had 3 tables with patrons. It is a small place. You order and pay at the counter , not at the table. The food arrived pretty quickly. The wood ears and the spicy wontons appetizers were tasty. I had to add more chili sauce to the wontons but I like fire in my mouth, so you might find the wontons just the right kick. The pancakes are thin and crispy, not as doughy as most other scallion pancakes. The menu did say crispy so if you are expecting dough pancakes you will be disappointed. But if you like thin crunchy version you will like this. I just wish there was a bit more scallion flavor. The dumplings and potstickers are wonderful. I love the handmade wrappers and the flavor was subtle but lingers. The little carrot butterfly decor for thx potstickers was nice. The place was not crowded at the time so less noisy compared to other Asian restaurants. The service was good and friendly. A bit pricey but I will definitely come back to try other items.

    The lady at the counter is a Beijing, Japanese kind lady. The inside looks very clean and nice and cute- almost like a cute coffee shop made into a nice dumpling house. Best dishes: 1. Wood ear fungus in vinegar dressing - wow, the salty seasame sour dressing. Pickled onions 7/5 2. Cucumber salad - crispy cucumbers garlic, vinegar salty. 7/5 3. Pork belly noodle - soft braised pork belly with hand pulled chewy white noodles, bok choy and a mild bean miso broth 7/5 4. Pork bao - mixed with green beans - freshly made bao skin is soft and steamed 6/5 5. Beef steamed dumplings - with chive - comes in a fresh bamboo steamer basket - full of soup from the fresh 5/5 6. Yow choy with shrimp- very good delicious plump shrimp 5/5 Overall, very great atmosphere and declious high quality food. Beautiful plating

    Papa's Dumpling in Pleasanton CA is a nice location with some good food. Everything we ordered was freshly cooked,hot and tasty. The place is a small, intimate and very clean. The service was top notch and the lady who served us was extremely helpful with a sweet and kind personality. We would come back without a doubt You can also catch them @ Vallejo, Kaiser farmers market.

    Papa's is a small dumpling shop at the end of Main Street. It's nice and clean with some basic decoration. The service is friendly and efficient but you order and pay for your food before it's delivered. The food is really good. The pot stickers had really good flavor and seemed very fresh. The pork belly rice plate was tender and well seasoned. Wonton soup was fresh but slightly bland. The spicy chicken noodle soup was outstanding (and huge). I'll definitely go back soon.

    My mom and I discovered this place when it's grand opening and we were around downtown and craving dumplings. The dumplings are big portions and very filling! Both dumplings taste delicious and fresh! I really love it! Scallion pancake was amazing!! So crunchy and flaky! Soo good! We ordered Ube Latte, mom didn't want it too sugary and she got it! The service was good, she check on us for few times and refill our water too. She was nice and accommodating. The place is bright, few tables inside. You have to order and pay for it before getting your food. Which is a good idea. We will come back to try more food.

    If you are craving delicious dumplings, pot stickers, or even a "scallion pancake" look no further! Papa's dumplings has both a presence at local farmers markets as well as a physical restaurant. I first came across them at the farmers market and had some of the best pot stickers I've had and it was so convincing I had to get seconds to try their buns and later go to their physical location to try even more! Everything we had here was wonderful. Some highlights are the scallion pancake which came with a plum sauce (only available at their physical store, not farmers markets, their pot stickers, both their beef and chicken buns are delicious but I am preferential to the Chicken, Corn, and Carrots. Oh, and their cucumber salad was delightfully refreshing... I guess it was all my favorite! The owners are very kind and friendly and treat you with high respect. Their venue is clean and cozy. Not to mention that their prices are very reasonable! This will certainly be a regular for me

    Come to Papa's Dumplings for tasty hand made dumplings and wontons in downtown Pleasanton. Located close to the Pleasanton Civic Center and the Pleasanton library, it's a short walk for a great lunch. Inside you'll find small tables, and a modern, clean space. They have a nice house chili oil that seems to go well with everything and even sell it in jars if you'd like to take some home. The hostess / server is very kind and food service is rapid and efficient. Highly recommend trying their wontons, in soup or in chili oil with a little vinegar. Their noodle soup was also delicious and noodle texture was nice and bouncy.

    Decent options for vegetarians, but definitely worth trying if you're looking for authentic Chinese flavors. Was on the lookout for a good Mapo Tofu, and this one checked all boxes. I see myself coming here multiple times. Oh also, their chilli oil was 10/10! Great service. Good ambiance.

    My friend and I came here on a quiet Wednesday night for dinner. We thought it was closed based on Yelp/Google (or something??) but when we arrived we saw it was open. Food came out quick, was delicious, and I loved the homey feel of this place. I also really liked their chili oil!!

    A newcomer stand to the Ferry Building Farmers Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. A nice assortment of dumplings, noodles and rice dishes. Most everything I tried was delish. Wonton in Hot Chili Oil: Delicate dough skin covered in chili oil for a nice kick. Hearty bits of protein in the middle. A great way to supplement your main order. Pork Potstickers: I appreciate that these were legit potstickers with one crispy side (which stuck to the pot) and then some soft dough elsewhere. I despise when places deep fry a dumpling and call it a "potsticker". The filling was nice with lots of pork and some shrimp. Only draw back was that the dipping sauce was kinda bland, especially compared to that hot chili oil used for the wontons. Chicken Buns: Perhaps the least impressive item I ordered. Thick doughy steamed bun and like a big chicken meatball instead. I was hoping it'd be more like chicken chunks instead of mince. Zha Jiang Noodles: A nice pasty sauce with small chunks of meat mixed in. Fresh chewy noodles. Loved the shredded cucumbers, to add a freshness. So much flavor when all mixed together. Braised Beef Brisket Noodles: This surprised me since it was soupy, but it was a pleasant surprise. Tender chunks of brisket and lots of chewy noodles. A smidge of bok choy, just so you can say you had some veggies. The broth was light and meaty. Braised Pork Belly Noodles: Wet noodles like the brisket. Very similar actually, except for the meat obviously. The pork belly was decent with tender fat and firm meat. Kinda preferred the brisket more since it was meatier.

We ordered the won ton with rice noodle 雲吞河粉( Ho fun) in soup , half a steamed Hainanese chicken . 海南雞 The won ton was served in 5-8 minutes but it took 20 minutes to serve the chicken . The chicken was fresher made and it tasted delicious. They do charge 18 % service charge automatically. Good ambience, good customers service and food quality are guaranteed. It is not the cheapest in town but it save you a trip to drive to the West bay and cross the San Mateo bridge .

For anyone coming, the parking can be really bad as it shares probably 20 or so spots with several other restaurants. It's near impossible to park nearby with the alternative of parking near the Panera's or even the target. There's plenty of tables and seats inside, and it was pretty slow when we dined in. Convenient televisions on two different sides where all the workers were casually watching, and quite the chatter in the kitchen where they're all watching the World Cup. That doesn't really affect service however as they're quite attentive when called for. We ordered the salted fish and chicken fried rice, and the medium bbq platter with char sound soy sauce chicken. All very delicious! The only thing is that they can bit on the pricier side with $20 for the fried rice and $30 for the bbq plate. Overall, I thought grand cafe definitely scratched our itch for Cantonese style dining experience. It typically comes with great food, good service, and a bit of nostalgia from being from the Bay Area.
