So, since I wasn't able to find a check in for that market, I had to come here to sing their praises. 6 Vegan Potstickers at the market are $13. I recommend spending the $1 for chili oil. Not sure what they charge at the restaurant for these fried pockets of deliciousness, but I tell you if these taste this good at a farmers market, packaged in a box, and I wait 10 minutes before I find a seat in the hospital cafeteria, and it still tastes this good, the restaurant must be out of this world. The wrapper has a great thickness and offers a sticky and chewy bite. Pan fried still comes out after having these steam in a to go box, so the restaurant would probably make these pan fried babies have even more texture. Comes with a dipping sauce, but combine it with the chili oil if you can handle a little heat and Yes Chef!! I heard they are at the SF Ferry Building Market on Saturday and Walnut Creek Farmers Market on Sunday. Double check those, but finding a great vegan potsticker is not easy. read more

It's hard to believe that it's been almost a year since I've tried the Ferry farmer's market stand for this business. I've been a regular customer to their Tuesday and Saturday stands here, mostly getting baos and cucumbers. On a recent Tuesday market, I decided to finally try one of their meals, the beef brisket noodles (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=F898JOSr0cI8ap_p4gjr9w); it came with nicely cooked to order noodles topped with two bok choy leaves, a half of a soft boiled egg, and eight or nine tender pieces of beef. I was surprised that there was no sauce on this as there was enough flavor from the beef to pair well with the noodles. Simple, tasty, and perfect for my lunch. It is a bit pricy for the portion but the quality is there. Plus it's made to order. I'll continue to get the small bites for my friend and will try the other meals down the road. read more

Outstanding dinner! We were so pleased to have seen all the positive Yelp reviews about this restaurant and the reviewers were right on. Food and service were incredible. The server was the sweetest person and she helped us order. We ended up with a nice assortment: - Zha Jiang noodles - Tofu, mushroom & basil potstickers - Hot chili wontons The server was attentive and helped make us feel like very special guests. I'm sure she makes everyone feel that way. She communicates with the chef and they got our order perfect (no onions). The zha jiang noodles were our favorite. The texture of the noodles was bouncy and perfectly cooked and the veggies were fresh and neatly sliced. This dish has impressive qualities and the flavors were well balanced. The hot chili wontons had a nice kick to them and not too spicy. The potstickers are a good vegetarian option and the tofu, mushroom and basil worked well together and that butterfly made out of carrots was gorgeous. I hear the chef makes them by hand. Wanted to try something new and saw this on yelp. We got there after 1:30 but still had 3 tables with patrons. It is a small place. You order and pay at the counter , not at the table. The food arrived pretty quickly. The wood ears and the spicy wontons appetizers were tasty. I had to add more chili sauce to the wontons but I like fire in my mouth, so you might find the wontons just the right kick. The pancakes are thin and crispy, not as doughy as most other scallion pancakes. The menu did say crispy so if you are expecting dough pancakes you will be disappointed. But if you like thin crunchy version you will like this. I just wish there was a bit more scallion flavor. The dumplings and potstickers are wonderful. I love the handmade wrappers and the flavor was subtle but lingers. The little carrot butterfly decor for thx potstickers was nice. The place was not crowded at the time so less noisy compared to other Asian restaurants. The service was good and friendly. A bit pricey but I will definitely come back to try other items. read more

Papa's is a small dumpling shop at the end of Main Street. It's nice and clean with some basic decoration. The service is friendly and efficient but you order and pay for your food before it's delivered. The food is really good. The pot stickers had really good flavor and seemed very fresh. My mom and I discovered this place when it's grand opening and we were around downtown and craving dumplings. The dumplings are big portions and very filling! Both dumplings taste delicious and fresh! I really love it! Scallion pancake was amazing!! So crunchy and flaky! Soo good! We ordered Ube Latte, mom didn't want it too sugary and she got it! If you are craving delicious dumplings, pot stickers, or even a "scallion pancake" look no further! Papa's dumplings has both a presence at local farmers markets as well as a physical restaurant. I first came across them at the farmers market and had some of the best pot stickers I've had and it was so convincing I had to get seconds to try their buns and later go to their physical location to try even more! Everything we had here was wonderful. Some highlights are the scallion pancake which came with a plum sauce (only available at their physical store, not farmers markets, their pot stickers, both their beef and chicken buns are delicious but I am preferential to the Chicken, Corn, and Carrots. Come to Papa's Dumplings for tasty hand made dumplings and wontons in downtown Pleasanton. Located close to the Pleasanton Civic Center and the Pleasanton library, it's a short walk for a great lunch. Inside you'll find small tables, and a modern, clean space. They have a nice house chili oil that seems to go well with everything and even sell it in jars if you'd like to take some home. The hostess / server is very kind and food service is rapid and efficient. Highly recommend trying their wontons, in soup or in chili oil with a little vinegar. A newcomer stand to the Ferry Building Farmers Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. A nice assortment of dumplings, noodles and rice dishes. Most everything I tried was delish. Wonton in Hot Chili Oil: Delicate dough skin covered in chili oil for a nice kick. Hearty bits of protein in the middle. A great way to supplement your main order. Pork Potstickers: I appreciate that these were legit potstickers with one crispy side (which stuck to the pot) and then some soft dough elsewhere. I despise when places deep fry a dumpling and call it a "potsticker". The filling was nice with lots of pork and some shrimp. Only draw back was that the dipping sauce was kinda bland, especially compared to that hot chili oil used for the wontons. Chicken Buns: Perhaps the least impressive item I ordered. Thick doughy steamed bun and like a big chicken meatball instead. I was hoping it'd be more like chicken chunks instead of mince. Zha Jiang Noodles: A nice pasty sauce with small chunks of meat mixed in. Fresh chewy noodles. Loved the shredded cucumbers, to add a freshness. So much flavor when all mixed together. Braised Beef Brisket Noodles: This surprised me since it was soupy, but it was a pleasant surprise. Tender chunks of brisket and lots of chewy noodles. A smidge of bok choy, just so you can say you had some veggies. The broth was light and meaty. Braised Pork Belly Noodles: Wet noodles like the brisket. Take-out review: DH wanted to try this new restaurant and we found a coupon in the mail for 15% off. It's located at one end of Main Street. They were not making dumplings when DH got there, but there is a station for it. He said there were a few workers there, however, only one English-speaking cashier. Service was good, people were friendly and helpful. Here are the items we tried: Wood ear fungus with vinegar dressing ($8) - fresh, clean, crunchy, not too sour. It's a pretty good appetizer. Cucumber salad ($8). - salty with a light garlic taste. It's crunchy and delicious. It is not spicy and garlicky like at some other restaurants that we have tried. Poached shrimp with Yu Choy Sum ($19) - very nicely done, probably our favorite dish here, but doesn't give you a whole lot to eat. Soy sauce, green onion, and oil sauce reminds me of the one that goes on top of steamed fish. It's a little greasy, but good with rice. 12 pieces pork and cabbage boiled dumpling ($15) - it's a bit ginger forward, but this tastes kind of like homemade. Wrappers are soft, but thick. Northern style. Not XLBs though! Comes with the classic dark vinegar for dipping. 8 piece pork potstickers ($16) - hearty and dense. Dough is chewy, but not hard. Had good browning on the bottom, but got kinda soft during transport. These still went quickly! Braised meat noodle (&16) add on pork belly ($2) - supposed to be hand pulled noodles, but they actually look more like commercially made noodles. Comes with a broth that has a slight spicy aftertaste. Pork belly was pretty good. It did look like it was made in house. Little one liked this. Overall, we really like this place, especially the vegetables. Our personal preference is for the thin skinned XLBs, but the dumplings here are good too, just different. Comforting and the soup had enough flavor to complement the broth but did not overpower the wontons. 2.) boiled pork, shrimp, and chives dumplings-they were ok, nothing special but good. 3.) lamb and carrots steamed dumplings- lamb paired well with the carrots. I think you can have the option of boiling these but do order them steamed. Steaming retains the flavors a bit better than boiling. 4.) organic tofu, mushroom, and basil potstickers- never had basil in potstickers but I do like it. I can see some people feeling a bit confused with basil, but it does bring a special fragrant flavor and zing to the dumpling that makes it stand out. My husband and I tried this place for the first time for dinner tonight with our almost 1year old son. The woman was incredibly attentive and ensured the baby's water wasn't too cold and brought scissors if we wanted to cut his food into smaller bites. We had tried their food at the Vallejo Kaiser farmers market so naturally we wanted to check out the home base. They are located in downtown Pleasanton in a cute suite amongst other business with its own parking lot which was great appreciated as it is crazy hard to find parking downtown. You place order at counter then pay and they will bring food to you when it's ready. Amazing food and service at this unassuming mom-and-pop restaurant in Pleasanton. They have a great combo of refined technique with a touch of homey hospitality. Their dumpling skins and noodles have just the right texture (QQ if you know what I mean) and chew to them. The dumplings were so juicy inside that they filled your mouth with broth, even though they were not soggy. The cucumbers were pleasantly crunchy, flavorful (salty and sour) and refreshing. I tried Papa's Dumpling at a farmer's market in Redwood City. It was definitely busy due to the lunch rush, but despite this, the 2 workers got the orders out quickly (within 10ish minutes). I ordered wontons in chili oil, which came out to $13.23 after tax. Pretty pricy for the amount you get (8 wontons), but that's to be expected for Bay Area farmer's market pop-ups. I got take out and was able to place my order on the phone before they were even "open" according to Yelp. The inside was very nice and pleasant, I would definitely want to try to eat there next time. FOOD - we got pot stickers, baos and the zha jiang noodle. POT STICKERS - these are just their dumplings but pan fried and were good, the skin was pretty chewy but had the nice crunch/crust of the pan fried side. My son even ate them with the meat inside, which he usually doesn't. We got the one with shrimp and pork I believe and the filling was tasty and not dry. BAOS - you get two large baos, they were probably our least "favorite" thing although they were still decent. The white bao was good and the inside was fairly tasty. ZHA JIANG NOODLE - this is the chinese style (versus the more korean style) with ground pork and noodles. The noodles were pretty fresh/somewhat chewy, which I like. The pork itself was spicy for my tolerance so I couldn't eat too much but I enjoyed it. It was a decent portion and could feed two people with other items. Very awkward and uncomfortable experience. We were served an appetizer that appeared to be complimentary. While we were actively eating it (food literally on our chopsticks), a staff member came over and just took the plate away. Even if it was an error, removing food mid-bite without an apology or offering to make it right shows a serious lack of hospitality. The service alone was enough to ruin the meal.
