I had a wheel issue and they did their due diligence to check out the issue-fix something else - and also not overcharge me. I have a BMW and per google- i should be charged double the cost. I'm not sure why their rating is only 3.6.. It should be a 5 stars. Clients were even singing their praises as i was waiting. Don't trust yelp ratings- RMS has a high rating and they're awful. I've had a few interactions with Demos in the last 18 months. An accident repair that was made a difficult by the insurance company, but Demos was patient and persistent in getting the proper claim covered (insurance wanted to do less than was needed). The work was great BTW. The second was when my mother in law brought in her car with a long list of things that a chain automotive place wanted to do; Demos reviewed the list and struck about 75 percent off as unnecessary. 12 months on they seem to be right. I also sent a work colleague there who had a piece of the undercarriage protector dragging on the road-demos had some fix it right away for 20 bucks. (Not everyone would in my experience.) Recently I got new tires and some other routine stuff done and it was quick and efficient. And the service folks are very nice and polite (and very good about updating me on progress) and they can give you a ride home from or to work if your in the area. All in all, I believe them to do good quality work and be trustworthy. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! Go to Uzi's. I was rear ended by someone on their phone - so no attempt to brake - I was hit hard. Demo's only looked at the bumper to repair - they admitted to not doing a full inspection because insurance no longer covers that - the car was not drivable when I picked it up. They told me it was me (I did not know how the car should drive). They then told me one of the struts needed to be replaced for $1200 and teamed up with the insurance to tell me it was already damaged. I went to the dealer who said three of the struts needed to be replaced (not one of the ones Demo's said). The car was still under warranty- thankfully- so dealer handled it, but Demo's was horrible. They also put used parts on my car - told me that was insurance. (?) Insanity. Go to Uzi's!!! read more

They give personal service and never try to sell you unnecessary services. In fact there have been times I suggested that I needed a part or a service-and they talked me out of it! I took their advice. What kinda mechanic would tell you don't fix the car, get rid of it? An honest one! I brought my 2016 car to Demo's for a state inspection. After dropping off the care they informed me that my car failed state inspection. They wanted to charge me $139 to reset the monitors. I declined the service and mentioned that I was not sure why the car failed inspection. He also reported the mileage of the vehicle incorrectly to the report to the state. When I picked up the car the owner yelled at me for not trusting him and made me feel bad for not getting the repair at his place. I immediately drove the vehicle to the dealership for a second opinion and the vehicle passed without any repairs needed! Stay away from this place! read more

My car stalled out in the middle of rush hour traffic. With one call to Demo's, I got a ride to work and they then picked my car up with their own tow truck. They carefully analyzed and fixed the issue, and explained their findings to me in a non-condescending way. They even do body work so I'll be back to get some dings touched up. I will leave my previous comments and review below to make sure that you know I'm not just being picky - I really wanted to like these guys : / - I picked my car up late in the evening and after getting a chance to look at it in the light I discovered they did a HORRIBLE job painting the hood and used what looks to be a faded, scratched, and heavily weathered junkyard reclaimed grill - this is a 2010 Nissan that's paid for and I regret taking it there - a note to all the Mercedes and BMW owners in West U... I wouldn't take a nice car there - looks like Southwest Houston chop shop work... I will complain to Geico and the BBB. When I called to complain they put me on the phone with "Demo Jr." And when I asked "Who am I speaking with?" He responded "Well who did you call?" And I replied "I called Demos and I'm really unhappy with my car" and he rudely replied "This is Demos" I heard about Demos from a friend who I dropped there when they were having a car repaired so when I got in a wreck in West U I figured what the hell... Have it towed there. Glad I did! They worked with the adjuster and got the car fixed quickly and I was happy with the work. I have one positive and one negative about this experience: On a very POSITIVE note!!! I believe these people are honest. I had lost a Rolex a few months back and had no clue where it was. When they repaired my car they also detailed it before I picked it up. When unpicked up my car and got it to drive away there was my watch, in the console that I had emptied before I had the car towed. Whoever detailed the car found my Rolex in between the seats or in the floor somewhere and put it there! When picking a place to have work done honesty is a big deal - these people obviously have honest employees and I bet they got that way by running an honest business! The negative - "Julio" is like trying to communicate with a door stop. I called him a number of times to discuss the status of my car and he was basically useless - told me a number of times that he would call me back and never did. I was even asking him to quote other damage not related to the accident (some stuff I did all by myself in a parking garage) and he never bothered to call me back and when I called the THIRD time about it he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I was in town visiting my sister who just had a baby. while going to meet a friend for lunch in the Village my low coolant light came on. I looked for the nearest BMW shop and wasn't certain it was ok to drive that far. My friend mentioned there was a shop around the corner. I stopped by and was greeted by Jerry. It's hard to find a mechanic that is honest, does good work, and gives it to you straight if you're on a budget and need to limit work to only the mandatory items. Demo's fits the description and I would recommend them to friends and family without hesitation. On a recent visit to Demo's for A/C work I drove away with it working fine (after surviving a year in Houston without it!). The next day the system seemed to have lost about half of its cooling power and I took it back. My '91 truck is getting a bit old now, and it turned out to be a seal gone bad in a part of the system that had tested okay when they fixed it and it also wasn't a part of the system that had been worked on. They fixed it for no charge while I waited and I was back on my way. Not the least expensive mechanic I've ever used, but they don't gouge me and I've had bad luck with cheap places in the past. I can also fix most problems myself, and Demo's doesn't have any problem with me bringing them in on the stuff for which I don't have time, tools or skills, and then finishing off the rest myself. Some shops get attitude in that situation. * Four stars is an excellent rating in my world. Five stars would mean perfection, and if I give it, I mean it. read more

Customer service is ok. They cannot get the color of my paint right. No matter how they try. I had them do it twice which took 2 weeks and a ton of stress with the insurance company and the car rental company. It's not fun. Always honest and reliable. My family has been using Demo's for over 40 years, and when I moved away I was never able to find quality, trustworthy repair shops like this one. The guys here have found and fixed things that other shops missed, and always give me information about what repairs might need without pressure to upsell. When I say I need a "75000 mile checkup or whatever" they actually check everything. I pay what I expect to pay without regret. I'm extremely impressed with this shop. I called with what I thought was an A/C clutch issue (with a needed belt replacement), and they fit me in when they were already busy. This automotive service went above and beyond in my opinion. They took my car in, and were professional from start to finish. In addition, they did actual trouble-shooting (if you have had to use a dealer, you know how rare this really is...), and they did some extra labor with belts just to test the issue since I let them know my concerns, to include that financially I didn't want to spend too much. That is the mark of a quality shop-they put some labor in to genuinely test my issue. It turned out my compressor was bad (the more expensive issue that I was hoping it wasn't). When they called, they were frank with me, gave me all options, including that changing the belt would temporarily fix my issue to a point. They were very honest, and not pushing the full repair at all, but gave me solid and honest advice, and told me the short and long term. Their candor is what I truly appreciated. I had them fix it, and they got my car back to me earlier than they thought, as I had expressed my need for it for work. They hustled and got it done for me, when they could have easily just said "we're busy and you will need to wait until Monday". They went above and beyond for me, and they were down to earth, and offered me multiple solutions, both temporary and long term. In addition as a side note, my car is back to running great with fantastic A/C. Shops like this are a dying breed, and I feel lucky I found this one. If you want a professional service done, with honest input from genuine, experienced mechanics, this is your shop. I have quite a bit of experience with mechanic shops (and I've done several mechanic services on my own, in addition to driving away from shops that told me I needed repairs that I had enough knowledge about to know I didn't need), and I can honestly say they did more than most shops ever do. That's why we use shops after all, because we don't have time, know how, tools, the space to do so on or own, or a combination of all the above. I highly recommend, and will be using them for any future repairs. Give them a call, and try them out...you won't be disappointed. I have very mixed emotions about Demo's. I've taken my car there twice - both times for body work. The first time, I was delighted with the result; they did such a perfect job that I almost didn't think it was the same car. (I actually checked the VIN to make sure!) They matched the paint perfectly, and I checked it in different lighting conditions without seeing any difference whatsoever. That time, had I written a review, I would have given them a six-star rating. The next time I took my car there was following a hit-and-run I was in. The other driver hit me in the left rear corner, spinning me around. Both sides of my car were extensively damaged, as was the grill area. Unfortunately, the car wasn't totaled, but since Demo's had done such a good job the first time, I wasn't too worried. Unfortunately, I should have been. Rather than use genuine factory parts, they used some aftermarket body panels that don't fit well. They also didn't match the paint well (I thought they'd repaint the entire car, but they didn't), and there were several smaller things that were not repaired properly or replaced. This time, I'd give them a one-star rating, and that's being generous. So, I hope you have the same luck there I did the first time. If so, you'll be very pleased. But if your experience is like my second visit, well...I wish you luck in accepting the fact that your trade-in value just plummeted significantly. Stay away from this place! They will rip you off! My car was leaking oil and I took it to Demo's to be repaired. They told me there were various issues with the engine and charged me $4,000 for the repair. I paid the $4,000 in good faith - trusting that they had fixed my car. About 10 days after I picked up my repaired (so I thought) car I noticed that it was still leaking oil!! Confused and disappointed I took the car back to Demo's. They looked at the car and wanted to charge me another $3,000 to fix it. Are you kidding me? I had just paid them $4,000 10 days ago!!! Ugh - so frustrating. I asked them why I needed to pay more and they would not back down. At that point I took the car elsewhere. Do not take your car here!!!! read more

They were great to deal with and do good work. I have never had car damage before so I didn't know what to expect but these guys are great. Locally owned and operated. The owner does not have integrity! When I first called them and asked whether their shuttle covered Galleria, I was told yes. So I used them on several small repairs and it seemed the shop is ok. This month, I sent my car to them again and one of the owners asked a shuttle to drop me off in Galleria. However, the owner called me in the afternoon saying that they could not pick me up after work because they do not cover Galleria at all. They can only pick me up if the location is within certain miles. Well, if you want to change your policy, then please do not change during the day. Even if you think you made a "mistake" by sending the shuttle in the morning, then at least pick me up in the afternoon. Be responsible to your customers. Do you think it easy to get a drop-off from your co-worker or friend? I scrambled to get one to get my car. Will never return. Btw: I used the shop because they mailed advertisement to my home and their online reviews seem ok. Although advertising is normal for every shop, a good repair shop usually does not need it because word of month effect is more than enough. read more

Facade is very convincing - "family run" business in respectful west u/rice area with two generations of father and son owners. I have never ever had so incompetent, discourteous, and inflated auto service shop. It has been hell from the begining of the service- total lack of communication, zero commitment(I Think your car will be ready by ...... famous repeat lines) and absolutely poor fixes.... and yes cost overruns. The shop most prefers to deal with typical in - neighborhood locals who may not have much first hand automotive repair experience and can affordability to keep the car in the shop for multiple days and at a premium rip offs. Too bad I didn't get to read the earlier reviews before taking the car there. Now, I hope someone actually is spared of this shop'shorrible expereince. read more

This shop will take advantage of you. The only reason I chose this shop is that it is within walking distance from Rice University, and I was dealing with this shop for a period of 1.5 weeks because of a string of car troubles, but the final thing I needed from them was a diagnosis of why my Check Engine light was on. I had been there in the previous week and spent $650 on various expenses (a new alternator and used tire). After I picked up my car because of the alternator, my Check Engine light was suddenly on- it hadn't been on before I took it in. I should have known then not to go back to them but I figured they could fix the issue and I would be done with them. They wanted to replace the catalytic converter for $1500, but I decided that I should pick my car up to get another estimate from a different shop. When I picked up my car, I was shocked when they told me that they would be charging me $160 for a simple computer diagnosis for the Check Engine light. Any decent shop will charge $40 but I guess these guys assumed that a college-age girl wouldn't be aware of that. read more

This was the absolute worst automotive repair experience of my life. Living in the area, I just wanted to find a shop that would treat me honestly and fairly so that I could remain a regular customer. When my transmission went out, I took it there. They did not mention the possibility of a warranty before completely removing my transmission (which would end up costing me $1K for nothing), and then they pressured me to immediately by a new one for over $3K. The second I asked about a possible warranty, the mechanic immediately responded "Oh yeah, several of the the guys here have Chevy's and there all covered under GM's 100K-mile power train warranty"--a fact that he might have mentioned BEFORE removing my transmission. I imagine this fact would not have slipped his mind if it had been his car and he wasn't about to make a ton of money off selling a new transmission. So I was then charged $1K to put the transmission back in so that the warranty could be claimed to get a new transmission at no cost to me--just the wasted $1000 for them to remove and put my transmission back in without doing anything. When I tried to politely discuss these charges with the owner of the shop, he called me "an idiot" to my face (I did not argue with him anymore or mention that I am a scientist with a degree from Rice). Then when I received the final description of the "repairs", there were blatant lies about what had transpired. They quoted things that I had never said and which intentionally made me sound like a complete idiot. They also misquoted themselves in order to cover themselves. I had gone to Demo's once or twice before, hoping they could be my go-to shop, but now I will never again return there. They are crooks and jerks, and I recommend you never go there. read more

I used Demo's body shop for the first time this year, after having used Demo's repair and service center for the past ten years. Demo's body shop is just as honest, straight forward and decent as the repair shop. Demo Jr. connected directly with the insurance adjuster and did the work for the exact amount estimated by the appraiser. When Demo Jr. found addition work that needed to be done, he called the appraiser directly, coordinated with the appraiser, and then gave me notice that he had found more work that needed to be done, had the work approved by the appraiser, and was going to proceed to do the work on my okay. This place is a family owned & operated, full service auto-repair shop. Anything you need repaired, they can do. I came in, unannounced, at 7:30am and pulled under the covered area of the driveway. I was immediately met by a gentleman that asked how he could help. I explained that I had a questionable battery issue so he got a tester, tested the battery while I watched, and showed me the results. In and out in 30 minutes with a new battery. Today we had a last-minute emergency on the way to take my daughter for her first driver's test. Leaving home, we discovered the back left taillight was out! Knowing it wouldn't pass the pre-test inspection, we called Demos to see if they could do a really-quick turnaround. We also know that TX DPS will cancel your test appointment if you're not there an hour ahead! When we got to Demo's, we explained the situation, they took the car right back, and had it back to us in about 10 minutes. We made it to TX DPS with minutes to spare. And she passed!
