Here's a heads-up about Demoss Plumbing--honestly, it felt more like "Dumass" Plumbing in my experience. My insurance company sent them to test my plumbing system for leaks, and they reported no issues with the pressure or drain side. At the time, I didn't know much about the test they were supposed to do. They were paid to perform a hydrostatic test, but it turns out they did a flow test instead. For a hydrostatic test, they're supposed to pull a toilet--which they claimed they did in my guest bathroom, even saying they replaced the wax ring. But the original reusable rubber ring I installed years ago was still there, unchanged.Because of their report, my insurance denied my coverage. During their flow test, they also lost their test ball and mentioned they might need to dig up my yard to retrieve it. Fortunately, they got it out from the street cleanout. Since then, I've paid two other plumbers out of pocket, and both said Demoss's test was done incorrectly. One confirmed the toilet was never pulled, as they had to replace the bolts when they did it themselves and found my original rubber ring still in place. Despite this, my insurance won't cover anything because Demoss's report says they pulled the toilet.I contacted Demoss to ask if they'd correct their report, given the evidence they didn't do the proper test. They brushed it off, saying the other plumbers were just trying to discredit them--even though I didn't mention any names. The person I spoke to, James, said they wouldn't amend their statement, regardless of what happened with the toilet. Now I'm stuck with a $35,000 plumbing bill, and despite fighting with my insurance, they won't budge because of Demoss's report. I hope sharing this helps someone avoid the same frustration and months of back-and-forth with their insurance. If your insurance sends Demoss out, I'd strongly suggest getting a second opinion. read more

They charged my already broke grandma $500 to just assess a plumbing issue. Our shower hot water was flowing slow, not even a major problem. Didn't fix it and actually BROKE it. They left and still charged her. If I was present I wouldn't have let her pay the bill. So we essentially paid for someone to break our shower. This company needs to make things right. They are a scam who takes advantage of kind hearted people like my grandma. They deserve to be out of business. I'm following up with a lawyer. read more

Shady company. I paid Demoss to check that a dishwasher was installed correctly. Common sense means that you actually turn the dishwasher on to make sure that it was installed correctly. How else would you make sure it actually works and that there were no leaks?? Nope! James told me that turning the dishwasher on to make sure it drains properly isn't part of the deal. He said I should have told him that they needed to turn it on to check it. Sorry, I thought common sense would imply that. Why did I have to call them back? The dishwasher worked before they went out there and now it does not. Now they're washing their hands from it. read more

Like another reviewer, I would give no stars if I could. This tunneling job should have taken between 2 weeks to one month; almost every one of my neighbors had the same job done in as much time. It took DeMoss more than 6 months, and every single part about dealing with DeMoss was rife with difficulty. They were terribly rude, hard to get ahold of, and one of my bathrooms was patched inexplicably with black plastic wrap and duct tape instead of restoring the sheetrock. The backfill for the tunnels destroyed my front and back yards. I was treated so poorly by not only the crew, but also the management. I would never recommend DeMoss for any plumbing work. read more

Our hot water heater started leaking on a Tuesday night. On Wednesday morning around 8:30 I called DeMoss and James said he'd meet me at my house at 12:30 that day to give me an estimate. I rushed home from work at lunchtime and James was waiting. He took a look at it and said they could replace the heater the following day, and gave me a reasonable estimate. The next day two gentlemen showed up ON TIME, did all the work necessary to replace the heater and bring our 1980 setup up to code (yes, our old heater was 35 years old; W00t!), including ducting, pipes, and other stuff. James called the next day, charged me exactly what he said he'd charge, and arranged for the City to come inspect it. Everything passed with flying colors. I've been the victim of countless utility repair people who run 3-4 hours late without calling, discover unexpected costs halfway through a job, and leave the site a mess when they're done. DeMoss did what they said they would when they said they would. They communicated clearly and respected my time so that I missed as little work as possible. Full marks. read more

Shout out to Darrell and Willie! I had been without water for three weeks. One plumbing company told me I had a leak in the slab, it would cost thousands of dollars, and I should contact my insurance company. I did but was never able to get a written quote from them (required by insurance), only a verbal quote. I got Demoss, leak was not in the slab and Darrell and Willie were able to fix in just a couple of hours. Very professional and walked me through process. I highly recommend these guys. read more

This plumbing company starts charging $115. per hour from the time they leave their business to do the work at your house. This includes stopping at a store to buy materials needed for installation of your products... I live in Cedar Park and this company is listed in the Cedar Park phone book with a street address in Cedar Park. But in reality this business is located in South Austin. I was charged over $500. to connect a faucet, soap dispenser, disposal, air switch, flange, and under the counter water filter. For 2 and 1/2 hours of work the bill didn't add up, and then I was told that the business is really located in South Austin. I paid an enormous amount for a plumber to travel to my house from South Austin. Since I had found this plumber in the Cedar Park phone book with a local street address, I consider this deceitful. In addition, 48 hours after the plumber finished his work, we noticed a large amount of water on the wooden floor in front of our kitchen sink cabinet. After inspecting the area, we found the cabinet floor, under some hoses and pipes, was swollen in places. Eventually, we figured out that the connection to the cold water valve was leaking that the plumber installed. I am hoping we fixed the leaks. One other odd incident is that I noticed that the plumber had put the old splash guard back in even though we had provided a new one with a new flange. He said that the new splash guard didn't fit so he put the old one back in, and he mentioned that the water was draining slowly out of the sink. Later on he said I must have thrown the new splash guard in the trash because we couldn't find it? After he left, I noticed that something looked old and reached down and found two rubber splash guards, the old and new. The new one was under the old one and that's why the water is draining out slowly. read more

Do not use DeMoss for extensive tunneling and plumbing needs. Much like the other negative reviews, I have been waiting on them to start the job for almost 5 months. They claim to not have a tunneling company to use even though this is the majority of their business. Their customer service is terrible and they do not keep the customer updated on the delays. This was not an inexpensive job, over $20k. It would seem that a job of that size would motivate them to do the work, but that is just not the case. Just had Demoss Plumbing in my home to replace 4 water cut off valves in my bathrooms that were over 20 years old and would not budge no matter what I tried. A local plumbing supply house recommended them to me and I am so glad I took their advice and placed the call. I could not be more pleased. The plumber came 5 minutes early and quickly got to work. He was done in about an hour and charged less than $175. Responsive, prompt, and competent. I will definitely call them the next time I have a plumbing problem. read more

We used DeMoss Plumbing to do a thorough test of our entire plumbing system to diagnose water leaks in the foundation. Demoss' policy is that all questions regarding their proposal must be addressed to the owner of the company, Mr. DeMoss. I have been extremely unhappy with my interactions with Mr. DeMoss, and will not choose this company based on those interactions. I found Mr. DeMoss to be defensive about answering questions regarding their proposal. Additionally, I found his demeanor to be dismissive, and impolite. The plumber who came out to perform the test, Johnny, was polite and professional. He made sure that we understood the tests that were being conducted, and explained the results. A drawing of the leaks under our foundation, and the tunneling that DeMoss' proposed, was provided with the proposal. However, there are no measurements whatsoever on this drawing, not even a scale. When I inquired about receiving an updated drawing that includes the measurements of the tunnels and piping, I was told that the drawing was done to scale. My interpretation is that I am supposed to find my survey of the house (and my protractor!), and make my own measurements. Additionally, I inquired about the details of the flow test as they related to different places around the house. Mr. DeMoss' demeanor in answering my questions was impatient, annoyed, and curt. Due to the size of the job, I imagine I will need to deal with Mr. DeMoss frequently. If I could just deal with Johnny I think I would feel differently about DeMoss Plumbing. read more

DeMoss Plumbing was absolutely horrible. I had them come out to install four bathroom faucets. I also asked them to tighten a loose faucet handle in my half bath. The guys that came out said it would take 1 1/2 hours to install the faucets and about $100 in parts. Four hours later they were still there installing faucets. As it turns out they were replacing all the copper lines under each sink. They were also replacing the drains which asked them not to do. Then to top it off, they also replaced the copper pipes in my half bath where I asked them only to tighten the faucet handle. Finally, all of their work scratched up my newly refinished counter tops. I later found out that copper piping is worth a lot of money and I suspect that they were simply trying to make money off me. When I called the owner, Mr. DeMoss, who was the only person I was allowed to talk to, he talked over me and raised his voice when I tried to tell him that his guys scratched up my counters. He ended up coming to my house the next morning to assess the damage and he agreed to have it fixed, which he did. Later when I got my bill in the mail I called to clarify the amount because I was confused. Again I had to talk to Mr. DeMoss who was very rude, curt and sounded completely annoyed that he had to talk to me about my bill. Again he raised his voice while I was asking questions. I hung up on him and paid my bill in full just so I did not have to deal with them anymore. Terrible experience. read more

DeMoss Plumbing is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. I cannot think of one portion of my massive plumbing replacement that went smoothly First of all, I would have never chosen DeMoss if it wasn't for Chubb Insurance tying my hands behind my back and pushing me towards DeMoss due to the low-cost nature of their bid. DeMoss was tasked with replacing old Orangeburg piping underneath my house with PVC pipe. The project was to begin in Jan. 2015 and take 6-8 weeks to complete. The project finally was completed April 17th, when I had a drop dead date of March 20th. DeMoss leadership is completely inept. Their workers wouldn't come when they said they would, excuse after excuse was relayed to me, management would never apologize for continued delays and lies. David DeMoss and project manager Michael are the worst leaders and operators I have ever met, I honestly thought at times they were purposely trying to screw things up and then not apologize to anger me more. If you consider DeMoss for any size of project you are making a huge mistake. read more

I had been having major issues with my toilet. It would run constantly, and then I discovered a large leak coming from the back of the toilet. (yuck-water everywhere!) I called DeMoss Plumbing and they scheduled an appointment promptly. Once they arrived, the plumbers got right to work. I was very pleased that they worked so quickly (saved me $$!) and were able to repair my issue. Afterwards, they explained the parts that were warped and needed replacing (and showed me) and explained what they did. I felt that they were extremely professional. Overall, I am very impressed with the service and now have a working toilet! (YAY!) Very Honest business - ARS came out to give me a quote to fix my water heater - quoted me $1880 - insisted on full replacement - I went ahead and purchased a new unit at Home Depot - had James at DeMoss come by to give me a quote - said it looked like it was just a supply line - had one of his guys come out and replace for $103. This is with a new unit sitting in my garage. Took the unit back to Home Depot and I was good to go. Very prompt on their appointments - waited on ARS from 8-12 and then they showed up at 12:45 just to give it a quick look and quote $1880. James said he would be there at 10 am and pulled up at 9:55. My water meter needle was spinning like crazy so I knew it had to be a broken pipe within the foundation of our home. Sure enough, our water bill confirmed triple the normal usage. I called Fox Plumbing buy they don't do home foundation leak detection work but they did recommend DeMoss Plumbing. I called David DeMoss to explain the problem. He reassured me that his company can fix most foundation leaks without breaking up the foundation. He said they isolate the leak, cut the pipe and reroute it through the attic. Dana cheerfully scheduled master plumbing technician Eric Kuehn to do the work. Not being able to find feedback on DeMoss Plumbing online had me concerned but soon after Eric arrived, my concerns were gone. He patiently answered our many questions and carefully checked the routing of our water pipes. His many years of plumbing leak detection work paid off. He was able to quicly isloate the broken pipe in our foundation and carefully cut through the wall to complete the re-pipe job. And my wife especially appreciated the fact that Eric and his team wore floor protective covering on their shoes, laid protective paper on our wooden floors and cleaned up thoroughly after making the plumbing repairs. Our insurance company received all the required paper work in perfect order and quickly paid for the repairs. After having another (national) company come in and tear up our house seeking to find the source of a water leak, claiming we needed a re-route of pipes through the attic, etc., we called De Moss (based on a recommendation from a friend) for a second opinion. Their operations manager came and performed a thorough review of the situation and identified a possible leak in the washing machine, which ended up to be the correct diagnosis. He also explained the proper procedure for determining leaks in the water system, which made us realize that the other company's plumbers didn't know what they were doing, or else, attempting to gouge us for a bunch of unnecessary work. We then hired the DeMoss plumbers to rectify all the damage caused by the other company. We were very, very satisfied with this company. read more

After 2 other plumbers had been out to diagnose the origin of a water leak that was showing up in high water bills and could not find it, Demoss Plumbing was recommended. They sent out Johnny, who immediately went through a trouble shooting algorithm and found the leak under ground in my irrigation system. After replacing a section of the underground pipe, they fixed it!!! What a relief for me after worrying about pipes under the slab, drilling holes in walls and floors, etc., etc. I found everyone there, from Dana and James on the phone to Johnnie and Valentine on the site, to be very professional, polite and reassuring as they carefully explained what they were doing and answered my questions. I had an issue with a plumbing leak. These guys were dispatched by my insurance company to diagnose the problem. Ins would pay for the diagnosis, but I'd have been responsible to pay for repairs. They came on time, were polite and friendly, listened to me explain what happened, and within less than 5 minutes diagnosed that a bolt had come loose on the toilet, which caused the leak. I called my adjuster and he agreed they didn't need to perform the extensive testing since they found the problem. They tightened the bolt and did not charge me anything. My home insurance provider selected this company due to a claim I filed. Otherwise, I probably would have selected a nationally known company to perform the work at my home. The crew appeared to be knowledgeable & were nice, but the first time they came in my home they didn't wear booties. That grossed me out, so on the second visit I requested that they wear them. Needless to say they couldn't figure out why my home smelled like sewage. They made a minor repair & were on their way. A week later the stench was back & 100 times worse than before. They came back out & couldn't find any problems so they left again. The smell became so overwhelming that we would have to leave our home & all three of my kids became sick. This is when they stopped returning my phone calls. A month & a half went by before I finally got the receptionist on the phone. When I told her I left several messages she laughed & said her light wasn't on to tell her there was a message. Whatever. She said that she would have to check the schedule & would call me right back. That was two weeks ago. In other words, save yourself the frustration & go somewhere reputable. read more
