I ordered the Denae's bash with eggs, potatoes, sourdough, and grilled avocado, which is $18. The service was fast. The price is fair for downtown LA. The toast and potatoes were greasy. Went to Denae's for the first time, to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had a large group - 8, I think - and our server did a good job. Everyone really liked their food choices. I had the La Brea, which is like a brisket hash. It was really good! Breakfast is served all day and the coffee was good. Like many places downtown LA, the area is a little sketchy. I parked at a street meter and had to wait for a homeless person who seemed to hallucinating, to move away from my car before I got out. I'm a small woman and didn't feel safe to get out until he was gone. Then our friend who had parked in the underground garage of the building where Denae's is, had her car hatch back window smashed out and a bag stolen. Nothing valuable inside but horrible to have your car vandalized like that. So, just a heads up on the location. read more

This diner is located in the Delphi hotel in dtla. I was looking for a quick breakfast and decided on coming here. Valet is $15 and convenient so I paid it! The diner is super cute and classy. I was excited to try their food because who doesn't love old school diner comfort food. I ordered the Denae's Slam which came with eggs, chicken sausage, a biscuit and I added 3 pancakes for $7. My girlfriend ordered the Griffith Biscuits and gravy which included a sunny side up egg and gravy topped over the biscuit. Everything I ate was bland and the sausage was overcooked and barely edible. The pancakes my goodness were similar to the ones you can warm up in the microwave except this batter had an overwhelming artificial lemon flavor in it. They were dense and lacked volume. My girlfriend tasted my meal and agreed! I definitely wouldn't come back but, maybe you'll like it. As far as service, it wasn't spectacular. Our server didn't check if we were enjoying our meal and overall was a bit slow. The ambiance is too aesthetically appealing for the food to be sooooo mid. I wish I was wrong. We're in town for the weekend and was craving an American style breakfast. We came across Denae's diner which was a 5 min walk from our hotel. The vibe once you walk in is very bright, lots of colors and has a Latin influence. We ordered the Denae's Slam, La Brea, Oatmeal and the stack of pancakes. I ordered the La Brea, unfortunately I asked for my eggs over easy and they came out poached which is a down side. The overall brisket was good and crispy on the outside. The hashbrowns that came with it were lukewarm and not crispy like how I asked. Overall 2/5 stars. But the rest of the dishes such as the Denae's slam and pancakes were good. This is the best hotel/bar/restaurant for your value! Bang for your buck, the vibe and interior design will catch your eyes and elevate your experience. The service was quick, extremely friendly and attentive, and did not shy away from providing excellent menu or itinerary recommendations. Denae's Diner is the restaurant located inside of the Delphi Hotel, so when my parents stayed there while visiting us, a spot they wanted to grab some breakfast. We came here on two separate occasions and decided to sit outside. The place itself is pretty nice, offering booths inside and some nice tables on the outside. I had dinner here sometime last year and truly don't remember the experience, and since the rooftop bar opened up I don't even think this place does dinner anymore, so let's focus on breakfast. The menu has all the breakfast classics from omelettes and eggs to bacon and sausage. I settled on ordering the biscuits and gravy with some scrambled eggs on the top of it. The food came out in a semi-quick amount of time and it was as "fine" as something possibly could have been. The eggs were scrambled well, while the biscuits and gravy had some really okay flavour and not something I need again, but it wasn't bad at all. Overall, Denae's Diner was a solid place to grab some breakfast and thanks to it's extremely convenient location, one I'll probably have again in the future. The best part of this place has been the staff on each visit, always super friendly and helpful. Dined in on 2/20/25 around 9:26 PM. This review is only for the banana pudding - I thought it was very watery and thick. It resembled more of a banana milkshake with banana bread on the bottom. With that being said, I thought the banana flavor was definitely present, there were a few bits of a banana in it, and the presentation of the pudding was quite pretty. The cold water was very tasty here. Service was phenomenal and quick, the staff were very nice. On Thursday nights there is jazz in the lobby so it can get quite loud upon entering and going to the bathroom. So this spot is tucked away in the Delphi Hotel in Downtown LA. Cute little hotel in the middle of downtown. So right away when you think of Downtown you think of the impossible parking. Luckily, the LA library is next door and they have a conveniently priced lot. Saturday and Sunday it's capped at $8 so definitely recommend that. Delphi Hotel was nicely decorated. Very chic. They had a huge Christmas tree and throne like chair. There was also a small Christmas Market hut. We went to the hostess and were seated immediately. Now I made a reservation for 12pm and it was not packed. The interior was brightly decorated with lights and Christmas decor. Each seat was wrapped with Santa hats. Outside the umbrellas had stocking hanging from them. Decorations were definitely on point. I ordered the Christmasaurus drink and a cobb salad. Both were delicious. I also had the blueberry cheese pie. Now my only grievance was that there were no holiday dishes. minor detail but just note. While exploring downtown LA, we decided to give Denae's Diner a try -- but unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. Parking? A Headache! There's no on-site parking -- it's valet only, and they don't validate, which means you're stuck paying $15+ just to park. Definitely not budget-friendly! The Food? Meh. After waiting a few minutes, we got seated. The menu had potential, but sadly, the dishes we tried were just average at best. Nothing that made us go "wow" or feel like it was worth the price. Not Worth the Splurge Between the parking fee, the underwhelming food, and the extra charges, this stop just didn't feel worth it. This review is long overdue. Denae's Diner stole my heart from the moment I walked in. We stopped to eat at around 11PM. The place feels like a stylish time capsule; mid-century modern meets upscale retro. From the marble dining tables to the living plant wall and the mid-century modern light fixtures, this place has incredible ambience. I appreciate that the owner and designer put so much thought and care into the furniture and aesthetic choices. We were greeted by a chipper, sweet waitress who didn't bat an eye at our late-night arrival, just an hour before closing. Her cheerful demeanor made us feel more like welcomed guests than a last-minute inconvenience, and that energy set the tone for the entire experience. We ordered a black coffee, a hot mocha, Eloy's Chilaquiles, the Black Dahlia, and a slice of Blueberry Cheese Pie. Every dish that landed on our table was flavorful, and deeply satisfying. If I could've ordered more, I would have. The entire menu was tempting. The vibe was only enhanced by the incredible playlist humming through the space. Cheers to whoever put it together. It was the perfect soundtrack for our meal and for the vibe of the restaurant. Denae's Diner left such an impression that even months later, I'm still thinking about it. The indoor dining room is sizable but better suited for smaller parties. They offer a good range of dishes for breakfast/lunch, and call out allergens on the menu. The creamed corn was very tasty, and others enjoyed the loaded fries as appetizers. I had the La Brea plate, which was very tasty and filling. Service was prompt and friendly. Was staying at the hotel, so I popped in for a quick bite before heading off to a conference. The place is old school diner themed which is a cool vibe. While the restaurant wasn't too crowded they seemingly had one server who was stretched thin-covering tables inside and outside. They ended up having to ask the hostess to begin serving tables, while the managers were helping to clean table. YIKES! I ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich was made with dark meat and oddly thin which I wasn't expecting. The batter on the chicken was quite flavorless. Actually, come to think about it, despite the many components of the sandwich nothing was standout and not that good of a bite. Best part of the meal was the fries. Upon hotel check in, I was told I would receive a credit for the restaurant on premise, but upon receiving the check then being asked if I was staying at the hotel-no discount. I was only asked if I wanted to charge it to the room. Nonetheless, I didn't dispute it, I decided to just pay and tip well over 20% because my waitress deserved it with the way she was being pulled in many directions. I hope this review is insightful. I ordered the Wilshire BEC. This is a well done croissant sandwich with eggs, cheese, bacon and tater tots in it. The sandwich is well compacted and very clean. The croissant does not crumbel or get messy. The bacon, eggs, tater tots are soft and cooked just perfectly. A really impressive and delicious diner! I go to a new diner every weekend and this has been one of the better ones I've tried in months. It's located on the ground floor in the lobby of the Delphi Hotel in DTLA. I love the design on the inside, it's in between retro and modern and has a chic look to it. It's a sort of place you'll want to stay a while, something in between a trendy coffee shop and an updated California diner. Our server was polite and all of our items came out fairly quickly. It took a bit to get our check but that's to be expected because there was only one server working this morning. They have valet parking for the hotel behind the building for $20 or you can do what I did which was find metered street parking a block away. The other option in between these two would be a parking garage for around $8 or $10. They are fairly new, but you would not know that from how well everything went today. I decided to start my meal with coffee and was delighted when they brought over a large and full French press, which has about three refills in it. For my meal, I chose one of the specials of the day which was the Eggs Benedict. The wilted spinach on the bottom was almost sweet and very good. It allowed me to soak up all the hollandaise. I also added chili and cheese to my hashbrowns, and would recommend to anyone else to do the same. They also added caviar on top for a great combination. For the end of the meal, we split a Banana Pudding and it was honestly really great. There were pieces of banana bread on the bottom, and it really tasted homemade versus some store-bought recipe. I would highly recommend ordering it. Overall, it's slightly more expensive than other places, but still not over the top, especially for a hotel breakfast. I was honestly very impressed and plan to be back in the near future. I would recommend to any fan of diners or anyone looking for a great breakfast spot downtown. read more

It's a beautiful cafe in a hotel around the downtown LA area. Waitress and hostess were kind and attentive, but the food left a lot to be desired. First the bagel with the extra everything says on the menu what it includes which is salmon, radish, cherry tomatoes etc. never on the menu does it say that the tomatoes and radish would be on the side. Kind of disappointed because I like radish and tomato in the sandwich. My friend got the French toast and enjoyed it. The French press coffee was watery even after waiting 5-10 mins before pouring it. I could make this a VERY SHORT review and leave it at five stars with only saying I was three nights in LA and every night I was at Denae's diner. That would say enough about this place. But if I would do that I would leave out how great the service was each night. How friendly they have been one night and even let us in 15 min before closing. I would leave out that you have to know this location since it is inside a Hotel and you can not see it from outside. That is where YELP comes in again and again - it makes it so easy or even possible to find those spaces. All items have been reasonable prices and tasted delicious! Visited on a Saturday early afternoon, just in time for the hip hop brunch with a live dj. We were sat right away and it wasn't busy. It's inside the Delphi hotel, and has really cute decor. Gingerbread old fashioned came with a little cookie and decorating tools! Also the cookie was fresh and crispy. The French toast was so flaky and buttery! It came with blueberries on top and regular syrup, which was fine but it's not blueberry sauce. The bacon was cooked to perfection. This new restaurant is a gem of a lunch spot for anyone who works in the area! It's a bit hidden and you have to enter through the hotel lobby. The space is very well-decorated with both nice indoor and outdoor seated. The menu has a large range of items, including breakfast all day and more items available after 11 am. It's very affordable compared to other restaurants nearby. I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup, which was $12 for a perfectly sized portion. OK major vibes, it definitely gives diner vibes with a modern day twist which I love. I'm obsessed with the yellow interior, blue light and theater like billboard display that sits above the countertop. The restaurant is located inside the Delpi. As you walk in to the hotel it is to your right hand side. There's a host podium too, so not hard to miss. We arrived on a Sunday - the day if the tropical storm and there was about 2-3 parties there having breakfast. We were seating right away. My bf ordered the Hello LA and I ordered the stacked Pancakes, - these were so fluffy and delicious, served with a side of strawberry butter ( it doesn't come with anything just 3 stacked pancakes). The manager is doing his best to train everyone and we did catch him nicely coach servers when he saw something. 2. I love Denae 's! I highly recommend it for the ambience! The food is really good! They have a nice outdoor patio that is big which I highly recommend. The indoor area is a very small classic dining space. If I need any help with service, there are enough people inside that can come over and check on me. They also have a cute little soda counter. That is now a bar inside. I think it would be worth visiting after hours. The dishes are simple, but classic diner dishes and they're all really good! Parking would be a little bit difficult. I can't quite remember what I had the last time but this time I ordered: The Black Dahlia - 5*/5, this delicious concoction is two pieces of cinnamon roll/croissant french toast, with a side of butter and blueberry sauce. I opted for maple syrup instead of the blueberry sauce and was very happy with it. I'd go back to Denae's just to have this amazing dessert, I mean breakfast. Bacon on the side - 5/5, the thick cut bacon came as requested - nice and crispy. I believe they also had soy milk which is my preferred non-dairy creamer for my coffee so extra point for that. First of all, I'm late. I didn't know they closed the Standard in dtla. Anywho, it was revamped into "The Delphi" Inside that hotel is Denaes Diner. Parking is Dtla style... parking lot up to $20 or if you enter off Flower, the underground is $15. We parked underground and took the elevator up. Once we got to the entrance, yellow umbrellas and decor to the right caught my eye. They have an adorable outdoors patio. The aesthetic gave me whimsical old school. Fast forward. Sat down with my guests and we noticed coffee stains and cup rings in the table. It looks like the tables were wiped down with water after each guest. Soap and water is needed for that table. The menu was modest with sandwich combos and a la carte breakfast items. $5 Mimosas... Cool. I ordered the turkey club on pretzel bun and I asked for pickles. My guest ordered the black dahlia and (1) egg for $3. Turkey sandwich, good. Fries nicely seasoned. The black dahlia was savoryyyy, you do not need the syrup. It was a small portion for $14 and included no side. When our order was placed at the table, the waitress asked "will you be ordering anything else?" We looked at each other and replied "maybe" she replied, " we'll, I'm off at 3 and wanted to know if you would like to close it or transfer the bill." I pulled out my phone and it read 2:52pm. I said, "transfer it." I mean cmon! You just sat my food down now I have to close out?! She leaves. No one else checks on us after. I have to wave someone down and they thought I was asking for the check and I said , no, please come help us. I asked for a mimosa and waited another 10 mins while the bartender rolled her when given the order. I was mad! It was only 6 tables occupied the rest of the place was empty. The other waitress with the bun, walked past our table and rolled her eyes when we mentioned the lack of service provided to our table. Why is the service slacking and attitude being served? The DJ was cool, iBRrease. He kept the RnB songs going. I may order the black dahlia to go but I probably won't return. Oh! They charge a 5% administrative fee and $1.25 for pickles on the sandwich. The manager, Patrick, came after I requested mgmt and spoke with us and had a conversation about the cleanliness of the tables and the staffs attitudes.
