We couldn't be seated right away given that we were late, and the wait ended being an extra 15 minutes longer for our party of 7. They really made it work for us, so we were very appreciative. Parking: Our group split up between $8 and $10 nearby lots for the whole day. All within a 5 minute walk away. Location: Right across the street from the Original LA Flower Market warehouse. Fun activity to do after eating. Also had a bunch of other flower and plant shops nearby. Restrooms: Shared with the Flower Market. Clean, and no need for a code. Just push the door. Food: Last but not least - scrumptious food! Plating is beautiful, and food was very satisfying. I got the chicken + waffles, and it was delicious with the honey and butter glaze. They focus way too much on what the food or reels look like and forget that they still need to serve the customer. The service was slow. Our server, Brea, treated us like a large group (which meant an automatic 20% gratuity), but she didn't take all of our orders at the same time. Instead, she made us wait as if we were separate tables. She took the orders from two sections of our group and then just left. We thought she was simply putting menus away and would come right back. Nope. She cleaned other tables, cashed out another table, and we eventually had to wave her down just to place the rest of our order. The food was good, but not good enough to overlook the service. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The first few bites were delicious, but after a while the grits became a little too salty for my liking. Overall, I'm glad I tried it at least once. My husband ordered the Waffle Chicken Sandwich, which was really good. The sauce tasted similar to buffalo sauce, and it paired well with the sweetness of the waffle. Unfortunately, the wait for our checks was just as bad. Our server would make eye contact with us and then continue doing other things. It was ridiculous how little she checked on us after taking our order. The tables and chairs were already uncomfortable, so having to sit there even longer waiting to pay was frustrating. Came back to Poppy + Rose after years of thinking about it, and it did not disappoint. Ordered the pulled pork hash again and it was everything -- a crunchy brick hashbrown, flavorful and tender pulled pork, with a sunny side egg that just ties the whole thing together when broken into. The flavors and textures all worked so well with each other, it's the kind of dish that sticks with you. It was literally the dish that converted me into liking breakfast/brunch. Service was friendly and the space is cute and cozy -- exactly the vibe you want for weekend brunch. I do miss their rooftop seating though. Somehow, a single starter biscuit took 20 minutes to materialize, despite the server saying the biscuits should still be good even though they were baked early in the morning. The food overall was either bland or flat-out bad. Avoid the eggs benedict with crab. Refrigerated, ice-cold crab meat is served on a rock hard biscuit, topped with room temp avocado, and a hot poached egg smothered in hollandaise. Sounds tasty, no? The server confirmed this drastic range of temperatures is how it's supposed to be made. "Well crab is cold in sushi ‍" Thankfully, our server comped the crab benedict in the end. I had high hopes for the shrimp and grits, which came out very soupy in a mostly flavorless fluid. It was not worth finishing. The fried chicken and waffles lacked seasoning, but that didn't matter because it had obviously been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. Somehow dry and greasy at the same time. Unfortunately, the restaurant shares the bathroom with next door flower shop, so they can't be blamed for that filthy crime scene. Poppy + Rose was a great place for lunch. We arrived before a few other graduation parties and there was plenty of room and food for us all. The service made you feel like you were at home. There were plenty of drinks available but after having a coffee we were ready for food. The ambiance was nice inside there are flowers as soon as you walk in. There are some pretty dried herbs and flowers adding to the decor, as well as fresh flowers it is hard to resist the smell just walking through the flower district. I strategically visited on Sunday because LA natives know Street parking is mostly free on Sundays. Food is great. Location is right in the middle of Flower Mart. So it is a no brainer to go to breakfast after an early morning shopping for flowers. They seated us and kind of forgot about us for a bit. But a lovely waiter came to our rescue and made everything fun again. Their Brick of Hash Brown Potatoes is a "must try". It is a bit big and hard to finish, but delightfully crispy. My friend had a pulled pork sandwich and loved it. Another friend had a standard egg breakfast, and she raved about the whole wheat toast. Went to Poppy+Rose once, and it has been my desire breakfast spot everytime I'm in LA now, so fricken delicious! I've tried a couple different things on each visit from whoever I go withs plate, but I order the fried chicken waffle sandwich each time, cause it's just THAT good. Crispy, tender, tasty, small sweetness with a tiny punch of spice, just an amazing breakfast item that you can't help but just want more of. I got a lavender matcha with it as well which is one of the best matchas I've ever had. Servers are really nice, and each time I've went it's a bit on the busier side, so it's normal to have lots of convo and a bit of noise, but respectful and wonderful, not too much. What a major disappointment! Came in with my family of four. Our server, Brea, took our order. Two plates were delivered and the other two orders never came. Brea never came back to apologize for the delay or her mistake in placing the incorrect order. It was as she deliberately avoided the problem entirely. Two of the four meals arrived at our table, and we assumed the remaining orders were just running a few minutes behind. Shortly afterward, staff brought us two orders of sausage patties and asked if we had ordered them. We explained that we had actually ordered chicken and waffles. Ten minutes later, Brea came to our table and asked, "What happened with the chicken and waffles?" I informed her that we had never received them and were still waiting. Her only response was that there was "probably a mix-up." Unfortunately, no one provided us with an update, an apology, or any accommodation for the delay. Brea never returned to our table to check on us, and it felt like she was actively avoiding the situation. Instead, another employee was sent over to tell us that our food was "on its way." After waiting an additional 20 minutes, we had been waiting nearly an hour for a meal that never arrived. Brea still never came back to our table. I finally flagged down another employee, explained how frustrating the situation was, and asked to cancel the order and bring us the check. Visited on a Sunday from Chicago. We got in fairly quickly with our reservation. It was a buzzing place that resembled a cafeteria. The service was on the slower side but not bad. However our table near the door to the bathroom wobbled and the server was unable to fix it. My French vanilla latte was yummy, but a $2 add-on charge for oat milk is ridiculous. It became an $8 or $9 drink, which I really should have passed on in hindsight. The limeade is also overpriced at $7.50. As for the food, my chicken and waffle was quite good. Great brunch spot hidden in the middle of a street, right by the entrance to the Flower Market. It's a rough / crowded area so parking may be a hassle. Is it hipster? Yes. But, it's not overtly in your face. Coming in on a random weekday late morning both times was perfect (although, I do wish they were open more, but I understand it's because all the surrounding businesses close at sun down). Both times I had the avocado toast. Portion seems small but it always ends up being filling and very good - you can taste the freshness in the ingredients. I absolutely fell in love with the whole vibe - the dried florals on the walls, fresh flowers on the table and the intimate vibe. I ordered the mushroom bacon Gouda scramble - I left no crumbs.
