Biscuits and gravy, eggs over easy

Poppy + Rose was a great place for lunch. We arrived before a few other graduation parties and there was plenty of room and food for us all. The service made you feel like you were at home. There were plenty of drinks available but after having a coffee we were ready for food. The ambiance was nice inside there are flowers as soon as you walk in. There are some pretty dried herbs and flowers adding to the decor, as well as fresh flowers it is hard to resist the smell just walking through the flower district. Can't wait to try more food here next time we visit.

Front door. So excited to finally eat here.

My Regular coffee smooth. Avo toast was on point with the garnishes. I ate my son's leftover waffle and it was the perfect ratio of perfect. I strategically visited on Sunday because LA natives know Street parking is mostly free on Sundays. I felt the presence of the parking gods with me when i found an empty space in a nearby yellow curb. I was only a few feet away from Poppy and Rose. Luckily, at 9:15am there was no wait to get seated and plenty of tables to choose from. When we left, it was certainly getting full. "El que madruga, Dios los ayuda" vibes here. (God helps those who rise early.) So visit early for that service with a smile and no wait!

Food is great. Location is right in the middle of Flower Mart. So it is a no brainer to go to breakfast after an early morning shopping for flowers. They seated us and kind of forgot about us for a bit. But a lovely waiter came to our rescue and made everything fun again. Their Brick of Hash Brown Potatoes is a "must try". It is a bit big and hard to finish, but delightfully crispy. My friend had a pulled pork sandwich and loved it. Another friend had a standard egg breakfast, and she raved about the whole wheat toast. I subbed a biscuit for toast and wished I had ordered the toast! Fresh squeezed limeade and orange juice are totally worth ordering. This is my second visit and I will be back!

Saw great reviews for this place, so my friends and I decided to stop by for coffee. We ordered three cappuccinos to go. The interior decor is super cute!

The food is so good and wholesome ordered the pancakes with eggs and bacon; these have to be some of the best pancakes I've ever tried! Finished every last bite! The seating in the restaurant is open and wide; it is more of a family sitting style. We had a little hiccup during our brunch but our waiter Nathan was quick to resolve our issues and was very attentive! We'll definitely be back!

Went to Poppy+Rose once, and it has been my desire breakfast spot everytime I'm in LA now, so fricken delicious! I've tried a couple different things on each visit from whoever I go withs plate, but I order the fried chicken waffle sandwich each time, cause it's just THAT good. Crispy, tender, tasty, small sweetness with a tiny punch of spice, just an amazing breakfast item that you can't help but just want more of. I got a lavender matcha with it as well which is one of the best matchas I've ever had. Servers are really nice, and each time I've went it's a bit on the busier side, so it's normal to have lots of convo and a bit of noise, but respectful and wonderful, not too much. Overall, Poppy+Rose has to get 5 stars from me undeniably cause they food is just that good

The food was amazing! We made a reservation and were seated timely. Service was friendly and attentive. The lot they mention isn't open Sundays but there's a lot at the end of the block. The French Toast has a bread pudding consistency to it but not at all soggy; that was excellent and flavorful. The fried chicken was well-seasoned! The chicken sausage patty was perfection The Lumberjack was a great selection of everything! We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. The only down side was that our table wasn't very steady. It has a cafeteria vibe inside.

Food is good and recommend the hash browns but I'd not likely go again because of the service. The hostess kept people waiting when there were plenty of seats open and plenty of servers standing around. They asked people to wait outside in 90 degree weather even when we were standing by the wall not blocking the entrance. The party next to us told us they were waiting an 1/2 hour and then they got sat at a table that had been the open the whole time. We had reservations and they still made use wait for 15 minutes with open tables. Google Maps takes you to the parking lot that is about 1.5 blocks away. I called twice to ask for clarification and after a few words they hung up on me twice, I Felt so bad for recommending this place for a birthday brunch.

    Inside. Very cramped seating.

Brunch spot that serves Iced Matcha, Lattes, breakfast burritos, sandwiches and other yummy foods like healthy fruit bowls and salads. Ambience wise it's very crowded together, you are glued to your neighbors and can smell their food and hear their conversations. Service was very kind, our servers were friendly and fast. The food was tasty but waaaaaay overpriced. My fruit bowl was $5 for a small amount of pineapple, berries and melon. My almond milk matcha was $7, plus tax and tip I payed $17! My friends got a breakfast burrito and fries plus drinks. It was a nice experience to try out once but I'd never come back here on my own. Nothing memorable about the food or restaurant.

Visited on a Sunday from Chicago. We got in fairly quickly with our reservation. It was a buzzing place that resembled a cafeteria. The service was on the slower side but not bad. However our table near the door to the bathroom wobbled and the server was unable to fix it. My French vanilla latte was yummy, but a $2 add-on charge for oat milk is ridiculous. It became an $8 or $9 drink, which I really should have passed on in hindsight. The limeade is also overpriced at $7.50. As for the food, my chicken and waffle was quite good. Chicken was seasoned well and the waffle was nice. Similarly, the pancakes in the lumberjack meal were great. The French toast had a bread pudding-like vibe which was also tasty. We all left very satisfied. I'd definitely recommend plus it is family friendly.

This was a fun brunch spot. I managed to get a reservation on open table for five people on a Sunday. It was super busy and loud. You kind of had to shout to hear each other. Service was accommodating but on the slower side. Food was good. The chicken and waffles were well made. They weren't the best I've ever had. There was nothing unique about them and flavor was on the lighter side, but definitely hits the spot if you are craving them. I also tried the Pulled pork hash... it was also well cooked, just the flavors weren't my favorite. It was pretty sweet with not much other flavor happening. I'm gonna just say that this was not for me but could totally be someone's favorite dish depending on their palate.

Just stopped by again, staff is great. Food is excellent. Buttermilk chicken is a wing and boneless thigh, but we were offered opportunity to change to 2 pieces of either. My husband was a big fan of Pulled Pork Sandwich. While I love the idea of communal tables, Poppy & Rose is very loud. Add a loud talker at a communal table and it's very difficult to hear. That being said, hostess was excellent and offered us alternative solutions which had a small wait. We kept our seat and as restaurant cleared out, close to 1pm it was much more manageable.

Ask the Community - Poppy + Rose

Are they open today? Black Friday

Do they have bottomless mimosa over the weekend?

    No, they do not.

    Bottomless mimosas on a Thursday?

    Are tables protected from rain?

Yes, they're all inside of the restaurant. At least I didn't notice outside dining

Is there an elevator? I'm w/cane. In reviews they speak of going up/down stairs to order&pay and for restroom?

Unfortunately there are no elevators, the restroom is downstairs in the restaurant.

Do they allow walk ins? Or do I need to reserve?

No need, you can be seated based on whatever is available

    Do they have takeout,parking?

No specific parking spot for takeout. Street parking only. Or Moskatells parking can be used.

    Do they allow service dogs?

    Yes I believe so

Hello do we need proof of vaccination or just a negative covid test?

You now need proof, but that's for all of LA

    Do they have bottomless mimosas?

Nope. But you get good champagne! But only orange juice. Not q fan of oj so used a strawberry drink they have.

    Where can I make reservations?

    Open table

    Do they take reservations?

    Yes

Are you able to accommodate a group of 10? Looking to visit in 3 weeks

as of now, I believe they're only allowing a maximum of 6 people per party. I’m sure you guys can split into 2 tables though.

Hello! Is there any guaranteed gluten free options?

oof! The menu does slightly change so definitely check it out before going. There are few gluten-free options (2-3), however, you can modify some meals so that is gluten-free, but no. no guarantee

Do you guys have blended margaritas?

No. However, the mimosa situation is quite nice. as is the lavender red wine spritzer.

Do they take reservations for weekday lunch? Nothings showing up on open table lol

I don't think they require reservations during the week.

Does Poppy Rose offer bottomless mimosa brunch on the weekends?

Not bottomless perse, however, you do get a full bottle of brute (it is delicious!) and bottomless OJ 😁. I feel it was well worth the price.

What's the best way to book a reservation?

Opentable app let's you book and the features are amazing.

Are you guys open for outdoor seating?

    Its outdoor

Even though my partner and I had a reservation that we showed up on time for, we waited 30 minutes to be seated. That wait time is pretty outrageous considering we reserved a table for 30 minutes earlier. Once seated, we noticed that the staff were extremely slow and inattentive. It took a while for us to get some water and even longer to get our food. The pacing between dishes was ludicrous. The food here is the saving grace for the disappointing service. We started off with the naan & dips. The dips were tahini tofu and carrot hummus. I liked the tahini tofu dip much more than the carrot hummus. It was creamy, nutty, and savory. The naan was fresh and nicely charred. Next we had the goat liver mousse. This included crumpets, biscuit crackers, craisin relish, seasonal jam, and of course, goat liver mousse. The crackers were too dry for me, but I really enjoyed the warm crumpets. All of the spreads were equally good. The goat live mousse itself was smooth and light. For the main courses, we shared the grilled kalbi-style short ribs and pork belly noodles. The short ribs were covered in a sweet-savory sauce and had a deep caramelization, while the meat was tender and juicy. As for the pork belly noodles, the overall flavor was too salty, but the glass noodles had a nice texture. Throughout our entire meal, there was a fly that kept trying to fly onto our food. It was very annoying to deal with. I was surprised that it was even an issue, considering we had indoor seating. I would have understood if only we were seated outside. Ultimately, I did not leave with a great impression of this restaurant. On top of that, there isn't any designated parking lot, so you'll be lucky if you can even find street parking. If not, you'll need to use one of the paid lots nearby. Also, beware that this restaurant adds a surcharge to all checks regardless of party size.

My friend just flew in for a day because his relative had forgot her passport and needed to travel to Korea, so we stopped here. While here, they ordered a salad with cherries and pecans that was pretty amazing. I think that may have been one of the better salads I've eaten. In addition to that, a cucumber burrata salad was ordered, and that was made well too. When my venison burger arrived, I took a few bites and it had the exact flavor I was hoping for and I thought the burger was done extremely well. Note: I think it is more difficult to do walk ins now, so be prepared to fight for a reservation online instead WHAT WE'VE ORDERED IN THE PAST (* denotes personal favorite/would order again) APPETIZERS - Baby Albacore: nice bright dish to start the night! I really enjoyed the fried shallots on top. - *Cornbread: a must get! The chile helps cut the richness of the dish so it's not so one dimensional. Butter and honey -- what more can you ask for? - *Cherokee Tomato Caesar: I was surprised by this dish. Four tomatoes used are so delicious and meaty and the dressing coats it perfectly. The little anchovy in the center of the tomato adds to the savoriness of the dish. It's so simple, yet delicious. - *Carolina Gold Rice: a table favorite!! The seafood was abundant and everyone enjoyed each bite. The rice was al dente and not mushy at all, but helped meld all the flavors together. Everyone agreed we would reorder. MAIN - *Beef Ribeye: delicious. It's good to share because of the richness of the ribeye plus the bone marrow. I personally could not eat the whole ribeye by myself. Medium rare is the way to go. - *Mushroom Crusted Pork Chop: cooked well and was delicious! Not dry whatsoever. The crust on the pork chop was great. SIDES - *Dressed Lettuce: their salad which is a necessity to have vegetables at the table. The dressing is citrusy and bright, which helps cut the richness of the food. DESSERT - *Sticky Date Pudding: this does take some time to make since it's in a skillet. But when it comes out, it's so decadent with the ice cream. I tell myself that I'm healthy eating it since it's made with dates. - Chocolate Cake: dense, rich, dark chocolate, not too sweet. I love dark chocolate so I was a fan of this cake. We even got it to go and it still tasted good a few days after the meal. It's pretty dense for a cake and I really only need a few bites -- so its a nice way to end the meal. Something happened and when we arrived there was a mix up with the reservation so we ended up sitting in the bar for about 45 minutes. This place is extremely casual, think shorts, t shirts, and flip flops and you won't be out of place. Servers and bartenders all have the eagle rock/highland park grunge vibe. I went there with my wife and 2 teenage daughters. We started with the cornbread. I thought it was good (4/5) but with the amount of butter and honey anything would have been good. Wife didn't care for it, thought the buttermilk made it too sour. Just know that it's tiny. For the four of us, each had one bite. The menu for mains is pretty limited. Steak, swordfish, or porkchop. We ended up going with the steak, 2 swordfish, and then added the brown eyed peas, mashed potatoes, and then wanted to start off with the pork chile (which is really chile verde). The chile verde was the star of the night. If I ever went back, this is what I would order. Maybe it's because all the chef's are hispanic, but it was really good. They serve it with homemade tortillas and it was excellent. The steak is a large 2 pound bone in rib eye. I ordered it medium rare. It was more on the rare side, which i don't have a problem with, but the steak was a little tough. Not super tough but for $150 I definitely expected a little more "melt in your mouth" rather that fighting some pieces. Bone marrow was a nice touch. probably a 3/5. The fish was well cooked, not dry but the flavor was not amazing either. Hard to explain but the sauce was a little too sour. I like lemon on my fish but the sour almost made me think the fish was past it's prime. It wasn't, but the sauce didn't really highlight the fish. I shouldn't have ordered two and would skip this one next time. My least favorite and a 2/5 The sides were good. Mashed potatoes with garlic and butter, nothing special but good. Brown eyed peas were really just white beans. They were good, but not steal the show good. About a 3/5 For dessert we split the chocolate cake which was more like a muffin with a hazelnut whipped cream. Don't think of chocolate cake, think of it rather as a small piece of chocolate flavored loaf with no frosting or chocolate pieces. I liked it because I like things that are not very sweet but I was the only one that cared for it. Overall portions are fairly small. Between me, my wife, and two teenagers we ate everything. Total bill with tip was about $510. Pretty crazy when you think about it. Would I go back? Probably not but the ambiance was nice with the grill and real candles.

An Absolute Masterpiece of a Lunch!…read more My friend was visiting from New York, and I wanted to take her somewhere truly special for lunch. Since it was our first time at République, we didn't quite know what to expect, but we were completely blown away! From the atmosphere to the service and, of course, the food--everything was flawless. The Main Event Blueberry Pancake: My friend ordered this, and it was huge and incredibly delicious. A total crowd-pleaser. Filipino Pork Belly Adobo: I ordered this and was so impressed by how rich and deeply flavorful it was. Absolutely delicious. World-Class Service & Hospitality The service here is incredibly efficient, but what really made our day was the staff. Rambo took care of us and he was fantastic--so pleasant, attentive, and proactive with everything we needed. We also had the absolute pleasure of meeting the owner! It was so impressive to see her on the floor working just as hard as the rest of the team. She was incredibly nice and you can tell she truly cares; we watched her personally ensure the quality of the dishes was on point before they ever left the kitchen. That level of dedication explains why this place is so successful. Do Not Skip Dessert! Before you leave, you must hit the pastry counter. We grabbed a few things to try, and they were sinfully good: Kouign-Amann: Flaky, caramelized perfection. Basque Cheesecake: Rich, creamy, and beautifully baked. Chewy Chocolate Cookie: Perfectly textured and decadent. We had such a beautiful experience here. République lived up to the hype and then some. We will definitely be back, and we're bringing our friends and family next time!

I had my rehearsal dinner here last week and all in all it was a WONDERFUL experience…read more We reserved the kitchen area for 32 guests with a set menu served family style. The food was INCREDIBLE and I was SO pleasantly surprised by how much food there was! We ended up with soooooo many leftovers! Family style meals always make me a little nervous, but the portions were plentiful and all of our guests left completely stuffed. The bread and butter was a standout, as well as the corn puff pastry appetizer (I can't remember exactly what it was called!). The steak and chicken main courses were to die for and the strawberry tiramasu was incredible. I could go on and on about the food. It really exceeded our expectations. Jared, our server was WONDERFUL. He was so attentive and on top of things. He communicated with my husband and I whenever he needed to and made our entire dinner so seamless and fun. The only downside to the experience was in planning the evening. I struggled a bit when it came to communicating with Sandra in the days/weeks leading up to our dinner. I didn't feel like we were a priority and often had to call or email multiple times to get a response. I found that to be very frustrating, especially because it was such an important part of our wedding and in the days leading up to getting married, the last thing I wanted to be doing was waiting on an email from the restaurant or hunting down a response about our beverage menu. I was also really bummed to see that when we got to the restaurant, our dinner menu had the wrong date printed on it. I wanted to bring one of the menus home as a keepsake, but it felt pointless when I saw the typo. There were also drinks on the beverage menu that we had never discussed, which was another disappointment. It ultimately didn't ruin our overall experience, but I think it's worth noting for other people planning larger dinner parties at Republique because I do wish a little more care had been taken on the restaurant's end while planning our dinner.

I had dinner with a friend here and we loved everything we had. Service was the perfect level - kind but not over~the~top, checking in just the right amount, making sure we were well taken care of. Clean bathrooms, too, haha! Now the drinks and eats! I absolutely loved my Pecan Cold Brew (6.50) and was surprised to see such an option at dinner! It was perfect. My friend had the beautiful Ginger Thyme Lemonade ($6.50) which was also just delicious. I highly recommend everyone try their 'Selection of freshly baked breads with all 4 spreads' for $29 if it's your first visit in. It's a filling starter of a few of their breads (the pre-buttered & chives topped charred levain was exquisite as is - no notes!) and a few of their toppings. My personal favorite of the toppings was the fresh cheese with honey & salsa macha - our server said it was their favorite, too - but there wasn't a bad topping in the lot. Butter + Salt was simple but lovely. The Charred Eggplant spread was sweet in a good way with walnuts and pomegranate molasses. The smoked trout was nice to have a meaty option with smoked onions mixed in, topped with roe. We had the Bluefin Tuna Carpaccio ($27) starter which was light but beautiful with meyer lemon, chives, sea salt, and sourdough crisps. Everyone recommended me the Fried Brussels Sprouts ($15) before I went and y'all were right! They come lightly fried with red flame grapes, walnuts, and pecorino cheese all mixed on the plate Fell in love with Superba Food + Bread and can't wait to go back. I hear their brunch is fabulous, too!

The chopped chicken salad was actually so good and filling, I loved the vinaigrette, it was bright and refreshing. And the rainbow trout was cooked well. The cinnamon sticky bun was pretty good, but it was a little overdone so the bottom was quite hard. The black sesame matcha was okay as well, I didn't really taste the matcha or the black sesame.

Our server Ahman was attentive had great personality, funny. "Strong and cute " LOL. The food was amazing we ordered a bunch of things. That knuckle sandwich was hitting hard. That steak and mashed potatoes was delicious. OMG and the ox tail grilled cheese hands down was Completing hard with that knuckle sandwich. The food was to die for , I can't say enough about the food. This restaurant EVERYTHING WAS SO DELECTABLE!!! There's not many restaurants that you can say everything was delicious but you can say it about Linden. The chef came out , the GM came Over. The customer service made you feel like you were a VIP customer. I definitely have to go back, like ASAP. I'm dreaming about this food. The experience was unforgettable and the type of experience that whoever trained those individuals at LINDEN in creating a customer experience need to train other restaurants. I will Definitely be back. Oh and not to mention after You eat they can take you next door through the back to go to DOT. It's a bar next door with drinks and music. It gets pretty packed in there at around 11. I can't say enough wonderful amazing things about this place. Will definitely be back for sure !!!! Will be making reservations again soon.

Linden is on Sunset, so parking can be hard to come by. If you're lucky, you might find street parking, but most likely you'll need to valet unless you don't mind walking some distance. Moving on. We had a reservation so we were seated immediately. Started with drinks, and I don't remember the names (apologies). One was a passion fruit cocktail, very flavorful. The other has pineapple and was also very nice. Both drinks has a great blend of spirit and flavor. Food, we started with the Yellowtail Crudo and the Lobster & Crab Knuckle Sandwich. The crudo was excellent with a scotch bonnet ponzu sauce to dab in and scallion salad. Would definitely recommend. The Lobster & Crab Knuckle Sandwich was also one of the best lobster rolls I've had. So much lobster and crab, perfectly buttered, a great roll... so good! For entrees we did the NY strip and the Sweet Corn & Pea Agnolotti. The NY strip was cooked perfectly with the pomme puree and wilted spinach. Great bite with everything together. The Sweet Corn & Pea Agnolotti was also good with sweet corn-filled agnolotti and charred corn on top. The one thing that I felt was a little it of place was the truffle on the peas. It wasn't an overbearing amount but the truffle flavor really came through and, for me, just didn't bring it all together. It was still a good dish, but I felt the truffle did not need to be there. Might have been better with something else or just leaving it off all together. Overall, fabulous restaurant on Sunset serving a great menu with inspiration from around the world. Cocktails were amazing as was the food. Highly recommend!
