    Market Chicken
    Joshua D.

The Market Chicken sandwich is very tasty. Zero wait for my sandwich to be ready. They gave it to me before I even payed. Definitely one of the best priced places in the area. The sandwich was warm and the bread was fresh. Located in the food court near the back by the bathrooms. The food court is in a basement but the area is well kept with plenty of other food options and seating available.

Even though the line was long, I waited for 10 min, I got my food in less than a minute! The market chicken sandwich was warm and fresh, with lots of sauce. I also got the tomato bisque soup and it was creamy. My meal was delicious and under $15. Now I understand why there is always a line.

I seen great reviews and photos of this spot and decided to make the quick drive from my office. The line was super long but, was moving quick! I figured, it has to be great since it was busy. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Their concept is great, simple menu items without substitutions and two types of soup. I ordered the Market sandwich which featured jalapeno slaw, chicken and ciabatta bread. The bread was surprisingly soft but, the chicken was overcooked and didn't have much flavor. The slaw wasn't a slaw at all, more of a spring mix salad with mayo! I didn't taste any jalapeno in the slaw. The tomato soup I ordered was okay but, nothing memorable about it. Would I go out of my way to come here again? No, but try it, you might enjoy it!

Mr. Mustache was such a hidden gem and I mean hidden. It took me a solid few minutes to actually find the place, but once I did, I completely understood why people line up here for lunch every day. I'm visiting from out of town and genuinely obsessed. The sandwich I got was so fresh and flavorful, with that perfect balance of crisp greens, melty cheese, and juicy chicken on the softest bread. Everything just tasted intentional and high-quality. If I lived in LA, this would 100% be my go-to lunch spot. It's exactly what the downtown sandwich scene needed, simple, creative, and absolutely delicious. Just be warned if they are busy and you need a receipt they may send you the completely wrong one!

This wasn't taken by me it was in a previous post. But this is the woman who was rude.

Very disappointed with the customer service. When I picked up my order, I thought my meal came as a combo and was confused when I didn't receive chips. I politely asked about it, and the woman handing out orders (see pic) responded with, "Next time you need to tell us," and then tossed a bag of chips onto the counter. I was still unsure whether I had paid for the chips or whether they were included, so I asked for clarification. Instead of explaining, she replied, "No, next time you have to tell us." I told her I wasn't looking for anything for free--I was simply confused about my order. I didn't take the free chips. What should have been a simple question turned into an embarrassing interaction. I understand that misunderstandings happen, but there was no reason to be rude or dismissive. Customers deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect.

December 11, 2025: The lady who takes the food orders was very rude to me and embarrassed me. I grabbed extra napkins and she loudly called me DIRTY and that I couldn't touch the napkins that are clearly right there in the photo for customers to take. In case the napkins aren't supposed to be touched by customers, there are many polite ways to communicate that to me. It was a long line and people around and everyone heard me being called DIRTY and I work nearby and I'm dressed in my professional attire as well? Regardless though of how I look no one should ever be disrespectful to say that to anyone. This is not okay at all in anyway and I highly demand a response regarding this situation that occurred today.

Decent sandwich for the workday. We showed up at the peak of the lunch rush and didn't wait long at all. Bread was good and ingredients tasted fresh.

This spot is great! Their options are well priced and worth the short wait. A little bit hard to find the first time so give yourself a few extra minutes. Looking forward to trying more menu items.

I got the soup & sandwich combo. Went on a Friday so the line wasn't long. Service was fast. The soup was not spicy but has a kick. There was a lot of bread on the sandwich but it was fresh and warm so it was filling and not as dry as I thought it would be.

Ask the Community - Mr. Mustache

    What are their hours?

Their hours are Monday through Friday, closed on the weekends at Flower anyway. Open from 11 am - 3pm .

Are you open on the weekends and what is the schedule hours?

They are closed on the weekends at 505 Flower. Only Monday through Friday.

Was there yesterday, July 6, and was closed. Anyone know if it's permanent or just a day off for Mr. Mustache?

    Day off

Are you back open downstairs in the plaza of 505 s flower?? I hope I heard correctly! That was the best lunch place around!

It's open again but in a different location in the same basement.

Does anyone know if he is still there, after the pandemic?

It looks to have closed down in the underground food plaza. He was talking about relocating, but I don't think it worked out.

This location on Wilshire Blvd in Koreatown is the smallest of the three I've visited, with under 10 seats available. It's a compact shop, and most customers opt for takeout. It's a narrow shop, and most customers take their orders to-go. I've previously enjoyed the La Paradiso and La Toscana, with the La Paradiso being my personal favorite. For our first visit with our son, we asked the staff for recommendations, and they suggested either the Venice Beach (Turkey) or the New Yorker (Roast Beef). The staff was incredibly generous, offering a roast beef sample, which our son loved! We also appreciated them providing ice and straws for our water. We ordered the New Yorker ($19.00) with roast beef, porcini cream, tomato, and arugula. The sandwich was thoughtfully cut in half, perfect for sharing. The schiacciata bread boasts a crispy exterior and a soft, chewy interior, which beautifully complements the meats and cheeses. We opted to substitute the porcini cream for mozzarella, which was sliced into perfect bite-sized pieces and tasted incredibly fresh. The roast beef was thinly sliced and tender, the tomatoes were fresh and sliced to perfection, and the arugula added a delightful peppery crunch. It's a well-balanced sandwich and one of the best in LA. We would definitely order it again. A big thank you to the female staff member who expertly cut the meat and offered samples, assisting us in making the perfect choice for my son's sandwich. This experience was truly a positive one for our family. I would definitely return to AAV for the excellent food and service. Given the small size of the shop, takeout is recommended, especially during peak hours. The sandwiches at AAV are so good! Fuggedaboutit!

The menu is not complicated or very large, and has a specialty item like a stuffed bread with different options named after possibly the founder of the restaurant. Khachapuri is the item, but we did not get it this time. We got a Chicken Ceaser Laffa wrap as well as a Chicken Parm and Bolognese sandwich. They did not take very long to get prepared and brought to our table. These are very good size sandwiches, you can easily eat it as two meals. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and helped us make our decision on what to order. It is a very bright place. Has odd artwork, not really a style or anything. A picture of a cow, a watercolor landscape. A fish chart. Something else that I forget.... Just odd, does not really work together, but oh well. Maybe these are from employees or were donated or something. But on to the sandwiches.... They were really good. I think I liked the Ceaser better than the chicken parm and Bolognese sandwich. But it was a hot day and the Ceaser was a bit more refreshing. The bread and wrap were good. Lots of sauce and dressing. Lots of stuff stuffed into the sandwiches. Good stuff. Parking can be tricky. I would like to try out some of the other menu items one of these days.

If you're visiting the area, I highly recommend making a stop here. My biggest piece of advice is to go early because it gets incredibly busy by lunchtime--and for good reason! Keep in mind they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. While you can order online, I'll always choose to go inside so I can browse everything they have to offer. Their selection of fresh pasta salads is fantastic, and the desserts are always tempting. Whether you're craving lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, a chicken Parmesan sandwich, or one of their many other Italian specialties, you really can't go wrong. Be sure to check out the wine section in the back left of the market. It's extensive and absolutely incredible! This is the kind of place that keeps people coming back year after year, and it's easy to see why. Being Italian American and growing up with an Italian mother who loved feeding everyone, this was one of our favorite places to visit together. Those memories make every trip here even more special. My personal favorite is the Godmother sandwich--hands down one of the best you'll ever have. It's packed with flavor, made with quality ingredients, and it's the sandwich I find myself craving every time I come back. One of the things I love most about this place is the atmosphere. It has an energy that immediately makes you think of family. Everyone is genuinely kind, welcoming, and happy to help, making you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. It has that warm, old-school Italian family vibe that's becoming harder and harder to find, and it's a big part of what makes this place so special.
