Disappointed and Frustrated - Would Not Recommend…read more In 2023, Gary's Pool and Patio installed our pool. While the initial pool installation went smoothly, nearly everything that followed has been a huge disappointment. They recommended a subcontractor named Frank to handle the concrete, coping, and installation of three water sheers--this was a major mistake. The concrete work is wavy and has already started cracking. The pool drain is so tight that it's nearly impossible to remove for cleaning. The cool coat applied was so thin that within just a few months, the base texture and color were showing through. Even worse, the $1,800 water sheers are unusable because they leak. Within the first year, the pool pump had to be replaced. The sand filter leaks. I've been reporting an ongoing water loss issue--200 to 300 gallons weekly, even through the winter months--and despite sharing results of a bucket test with Gary's, I've received no response or assistance. No leak detection, no follow-up--nothing. The Cool Coat had to be completely redone, but neither Frank nor Gary's Pool and Patio would stand behind their workmanship. I asked Gary's to price match the Cool Coat, and they came back $175 higher than other vendors. Financing was also a headache. We caught them overcharging us--an obvious billing error that we had to point out. Toward the end, they wanted us to send them the remaining loan funds (around $5,000) and promised to reimburse us. This raised serious red flags, and we were told, "We do this all the time," as if that should have reassured us. "Pool school" was a joke. We paid to learn how to operate and maintain our pool, yet we were never taught how to set up the lighting programs or salt generator. I had to contact Pentair directly to figure it out myself. Bottom line: Gary's Pool and Patio provides decent service until the final payment is made. After that, you're just a number. We do love having a pool, but if we could do it over again, we'd choose a different company. Don't get swayed by the promise of a lifetime shell warranty or quick installation times. Do your research--Gary's Pool and Patio is not what they appear to be.

He came out and looked at the project and agreed to replace the entire filter mechanism and repair the Polaris. This is where it becomes difficult. He did not show back up and would not answer calls nor respond to texts. Finally, after weeks, he answered and said he had been busy moving. We were patient and waited for him to get thru that. Fast forward, he comes out and sells us a "slightly used" filter because he had replaced it for a larger one for another customer. He sold us on its reliability and assured us he would maintain it serviced. He installed the new machine (tossed and left the old one aside), he worked on the Polaris and was paid what he charged. Again, he didn't come back. We called and texted to no avail because the Polaris is NOT fixed. Now, the filter he sold us has to have all of the panels replaced because they were not good to begin with. We hired someone new now and have spent the money AGAIN to do what he promised and did not deliver. I do not recommend this pool service at all.

Despite advertising a lifetime warranty, the company has not stood behind its work or honored its commitments. Since day one, we've experienced numerous issues, including: Ongoing equipment problems. Travertine decking that was never properly sealed. Missing rebar in portions of the decking, which has now resulted in cracking. An outdoor kitchen that was left unfinished, forcing us to hire and pay outside contractors to complete the work. A spa that is currently leaking. Spa jets that have never functioned properly and cause water to overflow instead of operating as designed. When we requested documentation for our records, such as the materials, colors, and products that were installed, the company never responded. Our pool was a significant investment, yet we repeatedly had to push back when lower-quality materials were being proposed. After researching the products ourselves, we insisted on higher-quality options instead of the cheaper slide, flooring, and other materials they initially wanted to install. There are many more issues than I can list in one review. My advice to anyone considering this company is to do your research, get every promise in writing, keep detailed records, and don't rely solely on verbal assurances. A pool is a major investment, and you deserve quality workmanship and a company that stands behind its product long after the final payment is made.
