We stayed in a room where the height of the carpeting impeded the easy operation of the door. The bed was too large for the size of the room so there was no place for a nightstand to place your glasses or a bottle of water. There was very poor connectivity in the room. The room lighting was poor restricting reading and other activities to a small area near the window. Also, the interior of the venue was not traveler friendly. There were too many stairs to access bedrooms which required carrying your luggage to your room or pulling your roller bags up sets of stairs. The bottom landing of the main floor staircase was not flush with the floor which required visitors to step over the landing (think safety issue). The breakfast was mediocre at best. The proprietor (the father) had a smug and condescending style of communication. The first morning I was there, I awoke early and sat in the living room area working on a crossword puzzle. I peered outside and saw the proprietor urinate on a tree in the yard when he was letting the three dogs (one yappy and unfriendly) out for their morning business. He next appeared in the kitchen to start preparations for breakfast. Did he wash his hands? Needless to say, I only ate items prepared by his son Bart who was very personable.

After a subpar stay in Anchorage, I loved my stay at Denali Lakeview Inn so much, I honestly did…read morenot want to leave and wish I had an extra night. They originally did not have all 3 nights available in one room so I booked one night in one and two nights in another. Before we left, we were advised that the Alaska room had opened up for all 3 of our nights and we were upgraded for no additional charge so we didn't have to move. The Alaska room is the largest one they have and is so spacious that it spanned the whole middle portion of that building. Breakfast for the entire stay is left in the fridge in the room so you can mix and match your juices, pastries, etc.. The beds were comfortable and the views were spectacular that we saw more moose out of our room window than we did in Denali. I stayed up two nights in a row watching them, the first night, right outside our window where if I went downstairs, I would've been within that 50 feet of personal space we are supposed to give them. The following day, I saw them in the distance in the afternoon with their babies and that night a show with 5 moose in total including a lake crossing to our side. I enjoyed our last morning just sitting in our room enjoying the view before checking out, it was so beautiful. If it wasn't so windy, I would've love to take the kayak out to explore the lake.

We saw moose every day just walking along the water, and the staff was so kind and helpful. The rooms were very clean, and every room looks out at the lake. Even tho we had the room right by the lobby, it was quiet and relaxing. It really felt like we were staying in someone's home instead of a hotel. We arrived to fresh baked bread pudding! Thank you, we will absolutely stay here on our next visit back to Alaska.

This place used to be called "Gracious House Lodge"…read more It was the "other" lodge on the Denali Hwy (the one on the Cantwell side), and it was never freaking open. I had never visited. The gates were always shut, it seemed like a ghost town. Apparently it was open for business, just, extremely sporadically. Welp, it's now got a new name, has gone under drastic renovations, and is actually open! I don't know their exact hours, but they are something like "all summer, and the winter too, with appointment". The lodge is structured like a big family house. There's a large, cozy, living room. On the sides of the living room are doors to various smaller rooms with numerous bed configurations. The proprietors are a family that recently bought the lodge. We got to know each of them. They were all warm, friendly, helpful people. We even got some super-secret tips about unmarked 4X4 roads to check out! We also saw them do a quick and efficient tire patch for someone that got a flat on the unpaved Denali Hwy! In addition to having an area for minor automotive work, they also have a bar (expertly named: "Sluice Box") and offer many activities, including flight-seeing and photography. Stop in and take a look around next time you're on the Cantwell side of the Denali Hwy!

What a sweet lady and beautiful family she has around her. We went out on a 6 hour ATV tour with our guide Chase. On the tour we did some fishing, viewed animals, went up to an abandoned mine and ate again a tasty bagged lunch that Colleen had prepared. I would recommend this place to stop at, recharge (make sure to visit the bar and hang your dollar bill on the wall with the other roughly few thousand hanging) and take in the Alaskan experience.

Cabin - 10/10 On-site support - 10/10 (very proactive and helpful) Views - 10/10 On-site game room/library - 10/10 (awesome games, books, etc.. for all ages) On-site amenities - 10/10 (they have a microwave and fridge in their common area they call sky kiosk; perfect for storing and heating your food/drinks) Location from Denali - 8/10 (it's around ~15 miles away; will need a car for commute) Overall, an excellent experience. Bonus: they also have dogs on-site that might greet you every morning :)

What a cute, cozy little place!…read more Located in Healy, half an hour from Denali NP. These stand alone cabins were renovated a couple years ago and are clean and comfortable. The staff here is so nice and made us feel right at home. A special thanks to Ty who made sure everything was in order for our late night check in. There's also a mini kitchen onsite with complimentary coffee, a shared fridge and microwave. The yurt library is such a nice addition too! We received a complimentary cinnamon roll at Harry's and it was so good my mom bought an additional three to go! Totally recommend EarthSong if you are visiting Denali!
