Walking in on a weekday lunch, the place was so vibrantly elegant, the location and views are beautiful, I wanted to love the food but unfortunately that didn't happen. I ordered the grapefruit mojito and the Asian lettuce wrap. I love how they added some crunchy elements but it was just too watery and lacking flavor. I took one bite and went back to my hotel hungry. The service by the bar was excellent and I hope to try the food again next time and see how that goes since it's very nice location. read more

The eggplant parmesian pasta I had for dinner was really great. Not what I expected, but something I still enjoyed a lot. Eggplant was battered and baked perfectly. There were also three generous portions of eggplant and abundant pasta. Based on this meal alone, I would give 4 stars. However, I had to take into account the breakfast burrito I had the next morning. I expected something more here for the price. No side dish with this pricey burrito. Biggest complaint for this meal was the receipt. I understand mistakes are made sometimes, and kudos to the staff for apologizing and fixing the issue, but on my bill there was a ghost $6 charge that came out of nowhere. Its math went like this: burrito $15 + coffee $4 = $25 total. Which made for a roughly $27 bill with tax, excluding tip. Again, this was fixed, but they would have charged me $6 for nothing had I not caught it, which would have been unacceptable. read more

Love the vibe and atmosphere this restaurant puts off. Upscale but not stuffy. Sometimes you can have nice looking seats but they are extremely uncomfortable, not these! Appetizers we ordered their bread and Brussel sprouts. I couldn't personally tell you about the bread because my husband ate it all, so I take it that it was delicious. Brussel sprouts had a pickled onion server on top which gave it a kiss of flavor that went so well together. We ordered their soup of the day, maybe red crushed pepper? Looked pretty but needed more flavor. We were early dinner so maybe it just needed more time to marinate flavors in the pot. Entrees we had their Red Snapper with couscous and bone in Pork Chop with collard greens. I would highly recommend the fish, cooked to perfection and flavors with the couscous were divine. Pork chop needed some more seasoning on it. The collard greens were mixed in with beef (served with pork) which was a little strange. But husband said he enjoyed it. Dessert we ordered their strawberry short cake. O. My. Goodness. I would drive back just to order this dessert again, and maybe order two of them this time. The most delicious dessert I have had in a long time. The home made biscuit served with the strawberry mixtures....mouthwatering. Service was phenomenal. I am beyond disappointed in the service and quality of Denim and Oak. I made a reservation at the restaurant for a very important event for my family. The party waited over an hour and a half for food -- to the point some of the elder members of the party left without ever even eating because it had taken so long. The server Joslin never refilled beverages despite how long it took to receive food orders. When the orders finally arrived, one person ordered a steak and Joslin was irritated that though she had forgotten to provide a steak knife, that we were requesting one to be able to cut the steak! When speaking with the manager Victor, there were no resolutions offered and his and all his employees' customer service was absolutely horrible. Neither the server or the manager of the establishment cared one bit about the long list of complaints. I cannot believe the atrocious service this supposed "top tier" restaurant offered to my family and our guests. I am horrified that we chose Denim and Oak for this important event and I strongly recommend you do not trust them for any occasion. 0/10 will never be back and will make sure my family and friends know how poorly they treated our family. read more

Despite reviews, we wanted a last minute date night and we know the sunsets here are worth it no matter what. What ever has happened in the past, we are happy to report our experience was flawless! I had a smoky manhattan that had fabulous flavor and perfectly smoked. I had the poached pear and brisket salad, requested without arugula. It was excellent! My date had eggplant parm that was equally as perfect, lightly crisp with a lovely marinara. Service was quick and friendly but not overly so. Overall, a perfect balance and we are very happy we gave them an opportunity to prove the reviews wrong. Kudos! read more

The star of the show for us was the greeter! She was amazing!! She was very welcoming and sweet! She made us laugh and we loved her! Our server was great and very attentive! The view from outside seating was lovely! The food was mediocre at best. We had a reservation for Easter Sunday brunch and had already reviewed the online brunch menu and knew exactly what we wanted. Unfortunately we were handed a very abbreviated Easter brunch menu with none of our choices listed. It was disappointing. My husband and I both got the burger and it was bland. No seasoning with the black-eyed pea aioli either so very bland. Hot sauce had been added but it called for pepper jack cheese but we had none on our burgers. The pork belly had no crispness. The breakfast potatoes were fine. All in all, loved the staff we interacted with but won't be back. There are just too many places in downtown Columbus, Ga with great food. read more

I just want to make my review about one thing, and one thing only: Brussells Sprouts. I do not like brussels sprouts. I would even say I hate them. However, I voluntarily ate two helpings of the ones here! The menu says they are roasted and have fermented pepper, shallots, and honey, but the sauce... it is everything. Absolutely loved the filet! Perfect cut, sides, seasoning, etc. No complaints! We had a wonderful time at Denim and Oak and enjoyed the small selection of appetizers, salads, and mains. Desserts had only two options and the drink menu is full! My only set back was sitting down before receiving a menu and being asked if we wanted bread for the table. Bread is $6 and probably listed under appetizers, but advertised like it was free before being able to glance the menu. I try to frequent local establishments whenever possible. With this in mind, what a disappointment of a local establishment Denim & Oak is. My party of two arrived today at 11:45 am for brunch. We and other parties were left waiting by the hostess stand for five-ish minutes or so before a waitress came to the front and said they were on a wait and the wait time would be five to ten minutes. Fine. The restaurant was visibly less than a quarter full, but maybe they were waiting on another server to arrive or something. Fine. But then the hostess comes to the front and tells everyone waiting that THE WAIT TIME WILL BE AN HOUR. From the front of the restaurant we see ONE seated table and FIVE open tables. On the patio at the time? ONE visibly occupied table. No reason for the wait given. No apology given. Just an empty restaurant that says it's open until 2pm running on an hour wait time for no reason. Our party and every other party that was waiting - we all left. I can't speak to any of the other parties that left, but this experience endured that myself and my husband will never be back. read more

I celebrated my birthday at Hotel Indigo--the hotel where the restaurant is housed. We were having a great time. The hostess Debra was very pleasant as she went out of her was to take pictures inside and out for my special day. The food was amazing with luxurious presentation. Beware that the portions are intended to be small as it's upscale dining. Do not expect meatloaf and potatoes. My only negative was when I sent my steak back to cook a bit longer. It took an extended period of time to return it and my husband's food had to reheated as he stopped eating waiting on my meal to return. Other than that, we had a wonderful time!! read more

After being seated it took 30 minutes to receive our drinks. However the food is good as always. Service is just very very slow and the manager just lingers around avoiding eye contact/interaction with customers. Crew seems to hide in the kitchen. I travel quite a bit for work and I was staying at the Hotel Indigo in Columbus, GA and After a long day of work, I wasn't in the mood to go out so I figured I would just manage with what the hotel had to offer. I had no idea this was the best thing that could happen to me, I ordered the daily special, figured it might be half-way decent and went about my business or working. I am ashamed to say that I should have paid more attention to the description of the Hanger Steak special as it turned out to be the best hanger steak I have ever had! I wish I could replicate this at home, but the fact that I am not a chef, I seriously doubt I could replicate the flavors they were able to impart onto the steak. The sauce and side completely complimented the perfectly cooked steak. All I can say is I hope my work sends me here more often so I can try all of the daily specials! read more

I give 1 star because the service was trash. I'm not picky by far however, these things stood out to me. The waiters were super nice and attentive. However the owner of the restaurant was there and they were taking all the attention away from normal customers. I made a reservation for 1pm. We were seated immediately. We chose to sit outside because we wanted to have a view of the river. There was barely a view; too many trees in the way. The chairs at our table were different sizes, one tall one short! There was spider webs on the tables and chairs-- I understand this comes with outside territory, however the staff was outside cleaning tables after each costumer so I assume they would clear the slider webs as well. The waiter came over as soon as we sat down asking for drink orders which made us feel rushed. We haven't even had a chance to look over the menu, which is not a bad thing. So we ordered drinks. My boyfriend ordered an Old Fashion ($18) I ordered a margarita ($14). The drinks took about 30 minutes to come out. At this point we were told the owners were at the restaurant, and the bar tender was basically taking their orders before all the other paying customers. We waited on food for about 45 minutes before we just asked for the check to cash out. We ordered food maybe 5 minutes after we ordered drinks. The waiter told us there was a large party that had the kitchen backed up. The large party consisted of maybe 7 people at most. The fact that the kitchen is not equip to handle that is ridiculous. Overall, if you're a local... go somewhere else. If you're staying at the hotel, maybe it will be a decent place to eat. read more

Located within a hotel, you'd expect this place to be basic hotel breakfast, but you'd be wrong. The food is quite posh and delicious, with a good variety to satisfy most people. I have not been disappointed with the quality of food. It has very few tables indoors, and a handful outdoors, but the service is what you would expect of a hotel restaurant. At busy times you may experience worse service, but never terrible. If you sit outdoors, you will overlook beautiful scenery of some river edge vegetation, with a decent view of the rapids of the river. read more

Went for Mothers Day. Nothing on their website indicated it was anything but their normal menu. We arrived to find it was a buffet, at $65 per person. Visually, it certainly didn't look to be worth that, but what else are we going to do last minute on a Mother's Day? We gave it a try. First, everything was completely disorganized. No one at the carving station. No one at the omelette station. The "normal" breakfast buffet had scrambled eggs and decent bacon. Veggies that were way over cooked. Alfredo that looked pasty and as if it hadn't been refreshed for hours. Finally got someone at the carvery... dried out turkey and very fatty brisket. The brisket was tasty if you can deal with the fat. Two of our party couldn't eat the fat. The salad bar was paltry. The lettuce was brown and wilted, we had to ask them to replace it. Buffet included bloody Mary's and mimosas... the Bloody Mary was mostly ice and they didn't even have any hot sauce available. How disorganized can you be? Even the layout of things was poorly conceived. Circular table for the salad bar... people jumping in at all sides. In the end, one of us ate anything resembling a meal. Three could not find much of anything worth eating. After complaining to the manager, she made excuses for the buffet... apparently it's advertised on their social media, but not on the website I looked at... and no one mentioned it when I made reservations. Her solution offered was to remove one meal. We eventually insisted that only one person ate anything close to a real meal and that's what we would pay for. Her obviously perturbed response was to charge for the one meal, and also add the two mimosas (not worth the $6 each) to the bill since there was no longer a meal to be included with... fair enough I suppose, but obviously not standing behind your quality. All in all, very disappointing. Only bright spot was our server, Mike the bartender. He was very nice. That said, Doubt we will be back. read more

Just discovered this gem of a restaurant! From being seated to the end of the meal, everything was superb!!! The menus were on a wooden block ( or cutting board as one of the 14 year said), the wine list was excellent. Three of us had filets and man they were cooked to perfection and not covered up with seasoning. Then dessert ! The deconstructed cheese cake was a hit. BUT!!! The Bread Pudding, omg!! I could have licked the bowl!!! We will definitely be back. The only downside was the parking.
