I visited Midland Commons with my sister and our two young boys (ages 2 and 5) yesterday so they could safely play in the grass area. We grabbed food from Tommy G's and intentionally chose a table in the center area, under the tent, so we could actively watch them as they ran back and forth to eat. Almost an hour after sitting down, a manager from BMerrells (Sylvia) approached us and told us the table "belonged" to their restaurant and that we needed to move. That would have been easier to respect if there were any signage or indication of reserved seating, but there wasn't. Not only that, we were not near their entrance. We were in the middle of a space literally called "Commons." As parents of small children, moving further away from the grass area wasn't just inconvenient. It was an unrealistic risk to our children's safety. When my sister asked for a menu, Sylvia said yes, but instead of returning herself, she went inside and sent a server out. That alone set the tone. We went ahead and ordered the drink of the month and chicken tenders. The wait was long enough that I considered canceling the order entirely, and when the food finally arrived, it did not justify the delay. The tenders looked and tasted like something straight out of the frozen aisle. What's most disappointing is that this entire situation could have been handled differently. A simple, respectful explanation or even visible signage would have gone a long way. Instead, the approach felt dismissive and unnecessarily territorial over a shared public space. If tables are exclusive to BMerrells, that needs to be clearly communicated. Otherwise, don't create tension in a family-friendly environment where people are simply trying to enjoy the space, especially when children are involved. This was my first experience with BMerrells, and it will absolutely be my last. I'll also be following up with property management, because there's a way to handle situations like this and this wasn't it. read more

People around us came and left while we were still waiting. If our server had communicated with us it would've helped but she acted like nothing was wrong. No apology. This restaurant has moved and brought the same poor service with them. The same old beat down menus. The worst part of it is the chairs. To me, they are cheap. you can't lean back in them. I believe this is the worst restaurant in midland. I think they should have stayed at the old location if they were not going to elevate their service. First trip to the new location. My wife ordered the Po Boy Shrimp Sandwich. Compared to the size of the sandwich at the old location, it is smaller. Onion strings were way too greasy and its dipping sauce wasn't very good. Even the steak fries were not that good. The outside seating area was very nice. Country Fried Steak is a frozen patty covered with a gravy not in any way made fresh like the menu makes it sound. . The food was amazing. I had wings and sweet potato fries and they are the bomb. We came during a busy Saturday afternoon but we were seated right away. The server was attentive. Oh how dissapointing today's visit to BMerrells was. It has been one of our favorite places to dine but today it seemed like it was a different place. Waiting staff was good but it seemed like she was the only waitress available so we constantly had to wait to get her attention. The young man that delivered our food seemed confused about what table he was going to and not just our table. Then, the serious issue was the lack of quality food. Of course, the wings were good, but the cheese bacon potatoes were allot smaller, the mashed potatoes seemed to be instant and the Mac and cheese was just down right "nasty". Needless to say, we won't be visiting it anytime soon. New management, when you get your act together, let us know. read more

Love this place and been going for 20 years since on Manchester Expy. I'm 44 and never really complain(ironic ) but when we were told today there are kitchen limits of celery and carrots for wings it was laughable and just brushed it off. That is not where the new owners need to cut cost. In their defense, I had a 6 piece wing and got 2 carrots and 2 celery. My work friend ordered a 10 piece and received 4+4. Absolutely a waste of money! The service was terrible. We went on a Saturday afternoon and were seated pretty quickly. Our waiter, John, took the order and about 45 minutes our dinner was delivered. We had the open-face chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli for my friend and I had the country fried steak, mash potatoes & gravy and fried okra. She stated her gravy was very salty, the rotisserie chicken was ok, but not good. She also wanted me to say that the broccoli was not overcooked. My meal was terrible. and the only thing warm was the fried okra and that was good. My steak was very overcooked and cold. The sides for mashed potatoes and gravy (no gravy was given) was smashed under the steak to the point I had to ask where my other side was. The server couldn't care less about the guest experience and I'm sure his tips reflect that. We saw him maybe 3x when he took the order, gave the check and only supplied a togo box for my entire meal when I asked. For the past year or so, friends and I have met for beers there on Fridays or Saturdays. While we love the wings, nachos, and selections of IPAs, there was one issue - an obnoxious, foul-mouthed, drunk female patron. Kudos to the new owners. They finally got rid of her, I heard. We, along with others had been complaining to the bar staff, as we were continually harassed. Of all things, this person is an employee of the local school district, Wish I knew what school. I visited BMerrells twice in the past 30 days. The first visit was pretty good (wings were excellent, service was good, food to the table was very slow). Last evening, I took my wife after bragging to her about the food (wings). We were seated and waited and finally a waitress attended to us to take our order. 45 minutes after ordering another lady came by and said she had given our food to someone else accidentally but that our food would be out in 3 minutes. Well, 15 minutes later we were still not served. We left after wasting an hour of our lives and went to Outback (prompt service and easy wait for our food). My take on BMerrells: wings are good (if you ever get them), ambience is below average (dark and dirty), service is below average because of the wait times. The lack of offering to compensate us for our wait is unprofessional and not good for business. I will NOT be going back to BMerrells and I live close by - I'll find good wings elsewhere without the wait or drama. read more

I went to this establishment today for lunch! When I first arrived I was not greeted by the hostess. Instead she just stared at me with an un welcoming face! I finally broke the silence and asked if I should choose my own seat or what's the next step! She asked me for how many I told her just me! She rolled her eyes and said follow me. I asked her for a booth but instead she sat me right next to the servers station. As you can imagine as an out of tow we I was like great! They made me! I'm not local and I will be treated as such! Fast forward my server Emilia arrived and asked the regular questions but maintained eye contact and seemed to be genuinely interested! She was a gem and quickly broke down the walls I had just put up! From that moment forward the the service was amazing and the food was delicious and my experience was drastically changed from what could have been horrible to amazing! And I will be going back! I can say, that the quality of food has gone down drastically, to the point that it's hardly edible. Went there last week and had water, chicken fingers (they were just Tyson's or a processed brand, NOT homemade) and a side salad in lieu of fries. Went with a group (7 of us total) and everyone's food was made from processed brands. Mashed potatoes, gravy, country fried steak...EVERYTHING. MY bill came to $11.22. For chicken tenders and a little lettuce. Gave the waitress a $20. She asked if I wanted change. Really? Where do you think you deserve $8.78 as a tip for an $11+ meal? BMerrells is a great down home southern place with delicious food. My wife and I frequently dine there and enjoy the meals and causal atmosphere. It is usually quite busy, but we have always been seated quickly. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and attentive to their patrons. My favorite meals are bbq ribs, country fried steak and chopped steak. My wife loves their bronze salmon. Overall an average restaurant. There were definitely no COVID regulations enforced whatsoever here and all the chairs and seats were definitely not 6 feet apart at all. The staff members all had masks on but they mind as well had them off because they ALL had them below their noses or chins. My boyfriend and I decided to request for outdoor seating instead after getting seated about a foot from another family. Once we were outside there was more space to sit and move around. We got the Fried Cheese as the appetizer and though they were decent I was expecting more for those $9 pre-made freezer cheese sticks. The burger I got also had no taste and reminded me of food you'd get at the concession stands at football and baseball games. I don't have a picture but the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich my boyfriend got was not good, dry and would've been better if served with some beef Au Jus sauce. On top of all of this, we did not receive any drink refills the entire time we ate for dinner...
