The table next to us didn't get greeted for water or anything so they had to flag down the guy delivering food to get a waitress. I thinkkk it may be because the wait staff is servicing here and the location next store but it's really impacted the experience. There is also an outdoor dining area, as well as a mid-sized dining room and we were seated near the window. Sawa serves Lebanese cuisine with some more modern dishes. Additionally, they have a mostly Lebanese wine list, which gave us an opportunity to try some new wines. We ordered both a red and a white for the table, and I was especially drawn to the red, as the red was served chilled, light-bodied, and very enjoyable. Nearly all of the reds and whites on the menu are from Lebanon, with just one red from Morocco, plus a couple sparkling options from Lebanon as well. We started with several dips for the table: hummus, baba ghannouj, and muhammara. The hummus was incredibly smooth, and the muhammara was especially flavorful with large pieces of walnut throughout. Everyone at the table receives fresh pita, and we ended up ordering a few more to share. We also shared the Brussels sprouts and the snap peas. The Brussels sprouts were rich and flavorful, but the snap peas really stood out. They were unlike anything I have tasted before, intensely mint, served with garlic mint labneh, and very delicious. For mains, we focused on lamb: two orders of the lamb ribs, two orders of the kafta, and two orders of the sfeeha. We probably over-ordered by about one entrée, but otherwise it was the right amount of food for six people. The lamb ribs were phenomenal, fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. The lamb pies were also very good and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The kafta was good, though not quite as memorable as the other lamb dishes, but still very satisfying. Service was attentive throughout the meal, and despite the number of dishes on the table, the staff handled everything smoothly. The table got a little crowded at times, but it was manageable. I would absolutely recommend Sawa, especially for anyone who enjoys trying something a little different. They do classic Lebanese dishes very well, while also offering some creative dishes that feel unique and memorable. I am already looking forward to going back.

The assortment of unlimited salatim, Hebrew for salad, was enjoyable and easily filed me without the guilt of overeating. And the view of the Manhattan skyline from the restaurant is just splendid. And one caveat, this Israeli meal is my small reminder that we should never judge or be judged by the actions of governments or political leaders. Humanity is always bigger than politics. Hatred becomes dangerous when we stop seeing people as individuals and start judging entire groups. History has shown us where that can lead. This is a reminder to myself and to anyone seeking peace and love (Channeling George Harrison and John Lennon, still have a bit of beatlemania from my Liverpool trip ). The inside is a mixture of different shades of orange and bricks with paintings on the wall, a chic (full) bar to one side and wooden tables to the other. I had a craving for seafood so i tried the calamari salad and the seafood linguine. the salad was very light and calamari was deliciously marinated. the pasta was cooked to perfection (im a pasta lover, nothing worst than some overcooked no salt pasta) and the sauce had rich combination of salmon, shrimp, calamari and scallops. so far i thought wow that was delicious but then the owner recommended me a dessert which really knocked me out of my sock! CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE... what?! so yummi i was talking about that souffle all the way back home =) bottom line.. this is an elegant, very delicious TURKISH restaurant with a seafood twist and great selection of liquer and wine. i would most definitely recommend this to a friend by the way they have lunch specials and a catering menu read more

Terrible I ordered a chicken Gyro so I got a plate with shredded chicken, rice and a green salad. For sure I thought it was a mistake, so I called them, the guy on the phone said that was a Gyro, I couldn't believe it. That should be called chicken and rice. By the way that cost $15, for chicken and rice. I should have gone to the deli a gotten chicken over rice for $5. I also ordered Lamb Shish Kebab, Sounder fancy, $17 for that one. Not sure where the Shish or Kebab was, this plate should be simply called, un marinated 4 small pieces of lamb with rice. I got 2 pieces of break also, I thought maybe they were used as a weapon of self defense in case someone tried to rob the delivery guy, hard cold bread. This really felt like a scam. I really wanted to like this place, I really did, that being said, the place really underwhelmed me. My friend the night before got some shish kebabs, and he liked them, so I figured why not try the place, and I got the baked lamb shank. The first couple bites were delicious, extremely tender, but the deeper I got into the shank, the more I realized this thing needed more time baking/braising. It got extremely chewy, and really unpleasant. Furthermore, the marrow inside the shank was all dried out! The sides were pretty good, though, garlicky mash potatoes and an extremely succulent grilled tomato. If I do order from this place again, I'll try something else next time. read more

A stunning, colorful array of intensely flavorful lamb slices carved off the spit and served over rice and salad, slathered in white and hot sauce, topped with pickled vegetables. Food came out relatively quickly and had a great conversation with the owner. Parking was easy on a Saturday. Priced inexpensively for the area where most entrees are $30 and up.

I had the rotisserie chicken, yellow rice, steamed vegetables, and Yemeni tea. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned. I enjoyed the tea with the different spices and the service was great. I will definitely stop by again and try some of their other options or maybe the same because it really was good. The food also was very fresh. You could tell it wasn't just sitting all day. If you're in the area, you must stop by and give it a try.
